What could be in a Mythology series of CMFs?
AmperZand replied to 8BrickMario's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'd love to see a Greek mythology CMF line. I'm not sure TLG would ever do one though. The themed CMF lines we have had so far have all been tied to particular events such as anniversaries (The Simpsons 25th), movies (TLM), sports (2012 Olympics) and holidays (Halloween). Nice idea but I don't think a properly proportioned equine lower body would fit in a CMF packet. -

Is the print white or silver? Metallic print can be tricky to remove without affecting the lustre of the ABS beneath, but non-metallics are easy to erase invisibly. My preferred method is to use Brasso. There's a thread/tutorial about print removal on the Customisation board. -

This has probably already been mentioned, but does anyone else think that the gargoyle's headpiece presages a faun/satyr/Pan in a later series? It would have to be recoloured (perhaps in reddish brown) and printed differently of course. -
At the risk of opening a can of worms, I would have to say any fleshy minifig part. They're nothing short of a betrayal of the brand. Sure, you can replace fleshy hands and some fleshy heads with yellow ones, but fleshy torsos and legs often can't be replaced because there is no yellow equivalent.

Most of my favourites are from the 'dark' palette. I don't know if glow-in-the-dark counts as a colour, but I quite like GITD white.

When I was in Japan a year ago, I went to two Click Brick stores: the one in Inagi-shi and the one in Yokohama. Neither of them had PAB at the time, but Yokohama had a kind of BAM. If you wanted to know whether a particular store near you had a PAB, you could call them and ask. Inagi-shi: Yokohama:

I just spoke with the Westfield Shepherds Bush store and they have them too. The price is the same as before: £2.49 each. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
AmperZand replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My guess is no, not more than any other CMF series. While S14 does have particular seasonal appeal, I'm sure TLG has done the maths and correctly projected sales from the shelf date right up to and beyond Halloween. If the series had turned out many poorly conceived minifigs, there might have been a higher than expected requirement for put them on clearance. But they look pretty good in my view and will appeal to TLG's core demographic, i.e. kids and their parents, as well as peripheral demographics such as AFOLs. That's just my opinion of course. -

According to 8BrickMario, you can get them across Europe, Asia (including Australia and New Zealand), Latin America and Africa: I'm in the UK and I haven't tried any LEGO brand stores. I have looked at chain stores and supermarkets near me that normally carry CMFs and haven't found any yet. -
How Many Have Completed CMF Series?
AmperZand replied to Boettner Builds's topic in Special LEGO Themes
A friend of mine might have them all when I get him the complete set of S14 he has requested. I know he has a Mr Gold which he was lucky enough to find in store and a team GB as I was with him when he bought the ones he was missing. I don't know if he has the Toy Soldier or the early serieses. I should ask him. I only collect fantasy/mythology ones plus some historicals and horror and have all the ones I want except S14 which I should be getting in the next few weeks. I have been collecting minifigures since 1993 so didn't miss out on the early CMFs. In fact, I think I still have some MIP spares of S1 and 2. Edit: I now have all of S14 but only got the zombie businessman, zombie cheerleader and mad scientist for parts. The rest will be added to my display collection albeit with some MOC'ed. -
It could be a citadel as you suggest or perhaps a building with a religious function such as a shrine.

Has anyone seen Collectible Minifigures Series 14 on UK store shelves? If so, where? By store shelves, I mean physical stores, not online vendors.

Fleshy Mystery Minifigures
AmperZand replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I do the reverse: I 'yellowise' fleshy minifigs. I don't necessarily seek the closest yellow match to the original fleshy though. I go with the closest I can get to how I imagine the character, for example my Yellowship of the Ring: -
I use Brickshelf (see my sig). It's sometimes slow to approve images and its picture naming format is quite restrictive but otherwise I haven't had any problems with it.

what would it take to cut out LEGO from your life?
AmperZand replied to legoman19892's topic in General LEGO Discussion
If I lost my collection due to fire etc or in the unlikely circumstance that I absolutely had to sell it due to hardship, I would probably stop being an AFOL. I wouldn't want to be reminded of what I no longer had. If TLG stopped producing fantasy/mythology/historical/horror/superhero minifigs or if they decided to go entirely fleshy, I would stop buying LEGO. But that wouldn't make me get rid of my existing collection. I've been an AFOL for over 20 years and will likely continue to be until I pop my clogs. -

The instruction sheet certainly makes it look that way. And the alien queen's cape from a few series ago was two parts. If the sheet and CMF precedence are anything to go by, I'd say yes. Even if it's one piece, a bit of careful cutting will separate it into a usable but separate body and collar. -

Thanks for another information-packed review, Fangy! Great text and pictures as usual. I realise that the official release date is 1 Sept but some UK chains release CMFs early. Any idea when they will be hitting WH Smith shelves? -
I like my fantasy pretty classic (Tolkien, Greyhawk D&D, Arthurian, Greek mythology etc). This line sounds too scifi-ish for my taste. If it is, I'll probably only get a few parts on the secondary market and none of the sets. Looking on the bright side, it'll probably save me a few bob.

[REVIEW] Ninjago | 70734 : Master Wu dragon
AmperZand replied to sweetsha's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I'm not that into Ninjago, but do have a soft spot for dragons and fantasy minifigs. And when I saw this set, I just had to get it. I don't regret getting it, but I do feel that the dragon and minifigs could benefit from some modding which is just what I did: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112554 -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion
AmperZand replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Does anyone here know the distribution per box of 60 and if so, can they please post it? Or do we have to wait for Fangy's review? Which do you think will be 3's, 4's and 5's? -
Companies want you, the customer, to remain interested in them. So within reason they'll almost always dangle the possibility that they'll do what you're hoping for. It doesn't mean they really will. Usually, the customer service person responding to such a query doesn't know the real answer. So from their personal point of view, it might be possible. But more senior people at the company know there's no chance. I don't know what the situation is with the set the OP asked about, but I would be astonished if it was ever re-released.

Fantastic design and execution! I've found that non-AFOLs are sometimes under the impression that you can't create curves using LEGO. This is proof that with imagination, you most certainly can.
