  1. It hasn't been well publicised which is a shame because it's a great idea. I only came across it by chance. At the time of writing, it needs to get at least 70 more backers in the next 54 hours. I really hope it makes it.
  2. There won't if the claw is the same as Davy Jones's but in a different colour. To the best of my knowledge, TLG doesn't officially support the replacement of minifigure hands (or claws). It considers torso assemblies (torso + arms + hands) as a single, indivisible element.
  3. I rebuilt 6927 All Terrain Vehicle from the Classic Space line using new parts when I could get them. I only resorted to used parts when I couldn't find them new. I had the set when it came out in the early 1980s, but none of the parts in my reconstruction were from my original. My mother gave all my LEGO to charity when I entered my DA a looong time ago. Here's the result of my reconstruction:
  4. That seems more true of the right angle arm than the straight out one. I suspect that's because they use the same internal structure as shown in the video. If you lowered the internal support element a fraction for the right angle arm, you would change the angle of the shoulder's connection which should allow it to sit completely flush against the side of the torso. Shaving the internal element should be pretty straightforward.
  5. It's strange that some are clearly costumes (e.g. Skeleton Costume Guy), others clearly real monsters (e.g. Spectre) and others indeterminate (e.g. Witch).
  6. They won't always keep orders over £15, but they can. And if they do, you'll get charged a fortune - as you know. I always keep orders under that threshold except for a few Kickstarter projects where the minimum is over that amount. You do need to keep an eye on the rules though. Periodically, they change them to include or exclude P&P.
  7. Absolutely great project on Kickstarter for right angle and out-to-the-side minifig arms: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/crazybricks/crazy-arms-for-your-miniature-brick-figures I can't believe no one has come up with this before. I've long desired to have archers holding their bows and arrows in the classic archery stance. LEGO minifig arms don't permit you to do that. In the interest of full disclosure, I have backed the project but am not otherwise connect to Crazy Bricks, the company behind the project. Apologies if this has already been posted on EB.
  8. It's important to distinguish between invoicing and sending times on the one hand and delivery times on the other. The former are down to the seller but the latter are due to the shipping organisation(s) and sometimes customs. It once took five weeks for an order to reach me in the UK from the Netherlands, but that was due to the postal system, not the seller so I still left positive feedback. I'm currently waiting for an order I placed a month ago to reach me from the US. The seller has already reimbursed me on the assumption it will never arrive. I'm still hoping it will at which point I'll repay the seller.
  9. I think it is. At first, I thought it was a recolour of the Monster Fighters werewolf's head, but on closer inspection, I think it's a new mould. I'll probably be getting a few of the S14 werewolf: one for display and at least one for parts. Zombie Pirate Captain - I already have some zombie pirates and a skeleton captain, but you can't have too many undead pirates. I don't like the beard piece though so will dispense with that. Mad Scientist - Don't really care for this minifig. I may get one for parts but probably not even that. Witch - I have most (maybe all?) of LEGO's witches so will definitely be adding this one. No, I think Hotdog Guy was. Unless you consider a hotdog a bit of an animal! I was thinking of that too. I'm also going to give mine two clawed hands. I suspect a lot of AFOLs will do that. I think I'll display him being menaced by of a web-wielding arachnid-man from the Chima line. I quite like this one. I might change his head but I'm not sure yet. I already have a minifig that's similar; the middle guy in this trio: Zombie Cheerleader - I'm into zombies, but only historical/fantasy ones, not modern ones. So this minifig will be good for parts, especially her head. Cat Lady - I intend to replace her head with a Chima one and treat her as an actual weretiger. I hope she doesn't have a zip on her back. Gargoyle - Cool minifig, possibly my favourite of S14. Will probably get several of this one. Skeleton Costume Guy - I have mixed feelings about this one. When you have minifigs of skeletons, a costumed skeleton is a bit redundant. Still, I might use for one or two. Monster Rocker - You can't have too many Frankenstein's monsters. I won't bother with the guitar though. Zombie Businessman - I have no interest in this one. Correct. See my picture above. I like the Banshee. I'll get one for display and one or two more for parts. Bigfoot - I like this brown version of the Yeti. Not sure whether to display Bigfoot among the good, evil or neutral minifigs. Spider Lady - I already have a couple of female vampires. This one will make a fine addition. She's up there among my favourite minifigs of S14.
  10. I got Master Wu's Dragon (70734) a while back. It's a cool set but there were a few aspects of the dragon that I felt could do with tweaking so I modded it as follows: reconfigured the neck block to increase the angle of articulation (not easy to see in the picture) removed the clip and flagpole assembly from the dragon's back made the tail more substantial by doubling it and changed the finials to katanas. I also altered the ghosts/spirit warriors: I'm into fantastic, mythological and historical LEGO generally and, as you may have guessed, not a devotee of the Ninjago story-line set out by TLG. Apologies to any Ninjagoers who were expecting canonical representations.
  11. Also called cocktail sticks.
  12. Thanks, samuraiturtle and Peppermint_M. The part is the Hagrid's hair/beard piece from the Harry Potter line: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=40238#T=S&O={"ii":1} . I have three in total: two from the seller mentioned in my opening post and one that has no problem from another BL seller. The parts were first sold in 2001 and last produced in 2011 as far as I know, so they're all at least 4 years old but possibly as much as 14. Thank you, mostlytechnic. I really appreciate your expertise. Yes, it does look like the boot in your link, but not as bad. I tried the olive oil method suggested there, but it only works while the oil is in place. I strongly suspect the oil is just disguising the white. I don't really want any of my LEGO covered in oil. When I removed the oil with soap and water, I could see the white again. I think you may be right that there is nothing I can do about it.
  13. I ordered a couple of black, rubbery hair pieces from BrickLink. They were listed as new and they do appear to have not been played with. But they both have a faint, pale grey, uniform hue in their recesses. They don't smell and their elasticity seems normal. I tried washing them in soap and water but it hasn't helped. What is the cause and how can I reverse it? Also, if I store them with other soft pieces, will they be affected too? Unfortunately, my camera set-up isn't good enough to capture the discolouration, so I can't post pictures. Apologies if this topic has been covered on EB before. I did a search but couldn't find any posts.
  14. Agreed. It's astonishing, for example, that even though moulded animals have existed since the 1980s, TLG has never done a minifig-scale moulded lion. Themes/sets I'd really like to see (all of which have already been mentioned in this thread but that I would like to endorse): Greek mythology D&D/fantasy Star Trek 'Missing' LotR sets especially the Balrog vs Gandalf, and Witch King & Fellbeast vs Eowyn. I realise that many of these are extremely unlikely as the licence is unavailable (Star Trek) and/or owned by a TLG competitor (D&D). I also doubt we'll see a Greek mythology theme anytime soon. The inclusion of Greek mythological monsters such as the medusa and cyclops in the CMF line makes me suspect that TLG considers that theme already covered.
  15. Cool ballistae! I especially like the way you gave the trailing edge of the 'wings' a feathered look using minifig hands. Very clever.
  16. Lovely MOC. Great landscaping and story. After casting the Polymorph spell, I have a feeling the wizard might be proclaiming: "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"
  17. If you mean pre-printed stickers, try www.brickstix.com . They mostly do reusable stickers for minifigs but do provide some non-minifig ones too.
  18. I saw first hand (not just online) some Chinese clone brand super hero minifigs and bigfigs including the Fantastic Four and Hulk. I have to admit, that both in their design and production, they seemed pretty good - close or equal to LEGO standard. I don't know if they are as robust as the real thing: whether they will stand up to play. But as display pieces, they appeared OK. I have some Kre-o parts. I don't care for the design of their minifigs, but their production quality comes close to rivalling LEGO's. I have one of their bigfigs and have to confess that I like it.
  19. Not the greatest Ninjago fan (though I do have and really like the Sensei Wu's Dragon set), but this is a lovely set. The buildings and the construction techniques are brilliant.
  20. Apologies for the threadjack, but non-purists might be interested in Kre-o's official D&D mimic. You can see one here: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/AmperZand/Fantasy/dnd_drizzt__gruumsh_champ_mimic_guen.jpg I believe it's the only non-humanoid monster from Kre-o's D&D range.
  21. I'm not into Technic, but that's a cool looking vehicle. Its contours remind me of the F150 LaFerrari. Forgive my ignorance, but what does "HoG" mean with reference to the steering?
  22. My collection was packed away for a year and a half during a couple of house moves. It was frustrating at times but at least I was able to keep collecting while I was moving. When I finally settled down, I had to combine my old and new display and reserve collections which was actually quite fun. Accessing my old minifigs and sets was like meeting a friend I hadn't seen for a long time. Being away from your collection makes you appreciate it more.
  23. It will make you LEGO rich and cash poor! There's too much LEGO goodness to be had on BrickLink. :)
  24. At the risk of suggesting the obvious, have you tried BrickLink?
