REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
AmperZand replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't know if the S12 princess is meant to be the daughter of the S13 king and this series' queen. The princess came with a toad, so maybe we'll get a princely knight in a future series, i.e. not one of the king's 14 knights but the prince of another kingdom. -

Any sightings in the wild? I would imagine that TLG would try to get them out in time for Christmas as stocking fillers. -

I reckon the tutu will reappear in another colour, likely black or red, on a female version of the S10 sad clown: http://www.lego.com/en-gb/minifigures/characters/sad-clown-5d116dc00efc41949d1110cd363e6fc5 -

Nice! I might have to copy that. I imagine that the satyr's legs are fairly expensive for TLG to produce so they'll want to re-use them but I can't figure out how. A female satyr in a later series perhaps? Yes. As pointed out above, Mr Gold could be considered as a 17th in its series. I wonder how BrickLink will classify the baby. After all, it isn't a minifigure, a microfigure or - in the BL sense - an animal. Will it be classed as a utensil?! -

Is this the first CMF series with 17 people represented in it? I think it is. (I'm counting robots/mechs as people). -

Cool parts! I especially like the helmet/mask. It looks like if you cut the plain part of the naginata's haft, you would be left with an interesting sword (not that there's anything wrong with the naginata!). Is that right? Also, is the BW katana the same length as the LEGO one? -

Great review and pictures, Fangy! Thank you very much  One question if I may: What colour are the Mech Warrior's hands? Are they medium azure, the same colour as the S6 Genie's head, torso and arm colour? -
You guys are being much too rational! Remember you're trying to anticipate the company that has brought you a seagull and soon a skunk. There's nothing wrong with those animals but to prioritise them ahead of a lion and a sheep is simply bizarre. So I'm going to take a guess at something a bit more left field... Seal or sea lion

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion
AmperZand replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's true but it isn't offensive etymologically (unlike many derogatory terms aimed at cultural, racial, ethnic and national groups). The problem is that "Inuit" isn't a substitute for "Eskimo". The former is a subset of the latter that also encompasses the Yupiks. I suppose "Inuit-Yupik" is the most accurate term but it doesn't exactly trip off the tongue. Back to the topic at hand, my favourites are: 1. Satyr 2. Evil knight 3. Winged warrior 4. Queen 5. Shark suit guy My least favourite is probably the janitor. As a collector of fantasy/mythological, historical, horror, super hero and sci-fi minifigs, I can't really think of a use for him or any of his parts. -

Someone (apologies, I forgot who) suggested that the robot has medium azure hands. I can't tell from the image if they are. Are they? I very much hope so as I have wanted a pair for my CMF genie since his release. I don't care for the pearl gold hands he comes with and have already replaced them with dark azure ones, but medium azure would be ideal as the rest of the minifig's skin is that colour. -

I reckon they're supposed to be bokken. I normally picture kendoka as dressed in black, but this CMF looks like he's mostly dark blue. That suits me as I'll probably give him a samurai helmet and katana and display him as a samurai or ronin. Does anyone here know if the kendoka is male or female? Or, put differently, I'm also looking forwards to Fangy's review -

Lots to love in this series: the satyr, queen, evil knight, shark lycanthrope and winged warrior especially! I can't tell if the satyr has a goatee. If not, he should. Also, as has been mentioned, he should have panpipes, not a straight flute. Panpipes - the clue is in the name, TLG! Fortunately, I'm not a purist, so am happy to give my faun a third party syrinx. Despite my quibbling, this is my favourite minifigure of the series. Some of the CMFs that don't interest me such as the pest control officer, astronaut and tribal woman have accessories that make them worth getting, namely the skunk, CS flag and baby. The jewel thief will be useful for her head and (new?) hair and the wrestler for his torso. -
LOL! Yes, I did know: I have all three. The elf and werewolf are already in my display collection. I haven't used the green one; I'm planning on using it to MOC a pixie/sprite with short legs but I haven't yet decided what torso, weapon etc to use. Thank you for making me smile on an otherwise grim day.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Rumors and Discussion

I would guess at a new mould of a shinai as that is the most archetypal kendo weapon. But if TLG are scrimping, they could go with a recoloured katana as a bokken or a bar as a bo/jo. -
I don't think you should be bashful at all. Not only is it a wonderful build, it would be in the theatre's commercial interest to display your MOC. People would have two reasons for visiting the theatre (the show and your MOC), not just just one. I went to a bookshop in central London once just because it was displaying a great MOC of King's Cross/St Pancras station.

Outstanding MOC! City isn't a theme that interests me, but this build is simply stunning whatever one's particular preferences are. I suspect that even non-FOLs would be impressed. How could they not be? I agree. Have you contacted the theatre to see if they would be interested in displaying it either temporarily or permanently?

Are you a Lego building masochist?
AmperZand replied to Cyanide-Tipped's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't always build the entirety of sets. I decide the sections I intend to have in my display collection and build those bag-by-bag. The rest gets sorted for spare parts. There is another form of self-torture through LEGO: not opening sets you have. I have the LotR Lonely Mountain set. I've had it for months but am waiting for an extra special occasion to assemble it. I'm dying to get my hands on Smaug! -
Great montage! Maybe you should include the hat/hair combos such as the Viking woman's, witch's, cowgirl's, Olympian's, Athena's and king's. Also, what about beards and moustaches? Facial hair deserves loving too! I think you might have missed the Friends and Elves hairpieces as well as some of the LotR/Hobbit ones. My favourite hairpiece has to be the CMF elf's. It was the first elven hairpiece, something I had wanted for a long time. There aren't any that I'm currently after. I have a wide variety of extras that I either got from sets (including CMFs) or through BrickLink. I don't know what the rarest is. I imagine there are some in colours that were never officially released (I have a LEGO hat in a colour that in that combo never appeared in a set). I have a miscast caveman's hair/beard piece. It isn't cracked or broken or rough-edged, but does have chunks missing. I use it for a zombie pirate. I imagine that hairpiece is pretty rare.

So Many Lego 'Themes' - Where is TLG headed?
AmperZand replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
TLG is clearly targeting different segments be it demographic (e.g. girls, adults) or interest areas (such as action figures, computer games, Dr Who) in addition to their core market. That's a good thing for AFOLs. It means more themes and a greater variety of parts. TLG is not slicing the pie more thinly; they're baking a bigger pie. -

Always new mostly bought by me but sometimes through BrickLink. I've been getting CMFs since they were first released. I only have to get them through BL when I think of a use of a CMF part I don't already have. -
Really? I was going to mention LEGO but as it's a real brand and you specifically asked about fictional ones, I didn't say it. If you're including real brands, I think Ferrari and Shell have appeared in LEGO sets. Are you also counting fictional brands used under licence by TLG? If so, there's Kwik-E-Mart, Powersauce, Buzz Cola, Jack Pot, Itchy and Scratchy, and Squishies all from Simpsons sets.

I've been to the Shepherd's Bush store loads of times but only been to the Stratford store once. I don't recall much difference in the size of the PAB walls but it's been a long time. I don't know if both stores stock the same parts in their PABs. Different parts may make visiting both stores worthwhile even if one has a bigger wall than the other.

I suspect the crutches will have a gap along the top so that they appear to be under standard minifigure arms just like BrickWarriors' crutches: http://www.brickwarriors.com/crutches-pair/ I have some of these, and they look fine. -
