"Well the point is that you kill things first. Very well, I'll just hold onto these for now."
-
"Insolence?" She looked at the self-proclaimed queen mother incredulously, and having no choice but to accept the candy cane. "Talking like that is going to get you killed." She followed Quintessa to the bar, insistent on getting her to leave. She pointed with the candy cane. "Let me ask you something: have you ever swung a sword in your life?"
-
She fake gasps and covers her mouth with the tips of her fingers, faux-shocked. "Oh, yes sir!" She then dropped the act and rolled her eyes. "Just try to stop me, kid."
-
Jinnipher shrugs. "Once you realize that no one understands or cares about a word of your gibberish, the world will be a better place. Until then, please excuse yourself from the conversation you just rudely interrupted."
-
Jinnipher scoffs and shrugged Lind off of her. "As your mental elder, take your own advice and piss off."
-
Jinnipher enters the Hall again in time to see a regal entrance. She looks at the newcomer with disbelief and strides over. She places a hand on her shoulder. "Look your highness, I don't know what you heard about Heroica but it's no place for kings or queens. The only royal welcome you'll get on a quest here is a royal megablocks-kicking." She looked Quintessa up and down with a raised eyebrow and a crooked, skeptical grimace. "Where did you say you were from? I've never heard of Heartland."

Jinnipher made her way from Gabriel's place to the Marketplace. It was time to upgrade some of her equipment and pick up a few supplies. She visited Anwyl first and sold her Crescent Sword and Full Moon Shield and slid 25 more gold across the counter to purchase a replica of her old shield. The 'dwarf's' craftsmanship was good and the round shield felt sturdier (SP:5). She then bought a Deadly Venom, two Potions and three Remedies from Portia, and a Shovel from Gnomeo. (-100 gold) Finally, she stopped at Fabian's. "Hey, you. Take a look at these boots." She showed him the Vorpalis Conquerors (Power +0; goes up by 2 for every enemy defeated, drops back down to 0 if the wearer is knocked out or if the battle ends; footwear). "Would you take these off of my hands for 200 gold?"

I'd contest that class has anything to do with alignment. Most of the reasons I picked Knight for Jinnipher were purely mechanical, and one RP reason was actually for the contrast between what a "noble" Knight is supposed to be and her superiority complex. This? Some of it yes, some of it no. Like you said.

If you're going for the merc who's just in it for himself in 136, then you're doing wrong. From what I've read in that quest Mhinak wants nothing more than to help the forest guardians. You don't have to be ruthless to be self-interested, though. Play up the dwarf stereotype of their love for gold. It doesn't make them evil, just helplessly selfish. And maybe do a good turn on the side?

The link was helpful, Kint/Lind. I've read up on alignments a lot but I never really remember the ins and outs of all nine labels. Besides that putting a label on a character, even if it's a tabletop character, is kind of belittling and could be debated. By belittling I mean that you're boxing in a character that has taken a lot of effort to write. They're full of contradictions and nuances that defy an alignment label, just like real people. At least, I try to write my characters that way. They're not 100% good or 100% evil all the time, but they have a set of core beliefs and are influenced by their mood, environment, situation, etc. But yeah I'm sure all you tabletop experts already know all that and I'm just babbling. For the sake of the conversation I'd say Hybros is... Chaotic Good? He's definitely found a utilitarian in himself and I think when we had this conversation at the beginning of the game he was True Neutral. He wants what's best for the most amount of people, and it just so happens that he'll side with the "most people" that he likes the best. Usually that means an organization that aims to help for the sake of helping general interests rather than to hurt for the sake of helping select interests. See Crimson Crown or Order Imperial for the latter. He owes loyalty to the imps, but wants to see all people thrive as well. Lind, you deleted a part of a comment that said Jinnipher was lawful good. I'm not saying you're wrong, but can anyone in Heroica truly be Lawful Good if they all boil down to sellswords? No one works for free. Unless I'm misunderstanding the definition. I found this which is maybe an extreme version of Jinnipher, but close enough. It falls under Neutral Good.

"Hm, I see. Well then I will do that. Goodnight!" Hybros goes to his room (?) to retire for the night. OOC: I got a Minimizing Dust from the lottery.

Suddenly a jar poofed into existence on the bar beside Jinnipher. She inspected it and determined it was a Greater Tonic. Uninterested, she set it aside, indicating perhaps that she'd be willing to sell it. "Well apparently it swooped down here to grab King Faust at some point. I'm not sure how effective the Town Watch is going to be against a dragon, though. To be honest, I'm a little out of date with the goings-on around here. Are the Houses still squabbling over power?" She took out a piece of paper and unrolled it, revealing that it was an unsigned Letter of Recommendation. She wondered who, if anyone, would be worthy to be in good graces with.
-
"Yes, it has been quite some time since I last saw Tarn." Hybros looked around again. "I see. In that case I wonder what else I can do to prepare. Is there a shop somewhere? Or is there more to this feast?"

"Not too far, and it hasn't been long since I was there last. The state of things there... I'm not sure what's going to happen after the dragon came in and screwed everything up. It's about time they started defending themselves. I'm all for protecting the weak, but you can't call in some sellswords every time your country needs bailing out."
-
"Add forgetful to that list, too. Funny, because that's not how I remember it." Jinnipher waved her hand dismissively. "Some book for a religion that his people made up while on drugs. I don't think the Gods are accepting applications any time soon."
-
Jinnipher smirked and clapped Kheyli on the back a few times. "Don't tell me they don't have mead in the Faerie! Though I don't suppose you need it with all that fairy dust in the air all the time." "And the sunlight? How are you ever supposed to leave this Hall for a quest if it's during the day?" "Ignorant, stupid, and hypocritical." She counted off on her fingers. "Yep, that sounds like him. I wonder if they teach those great virtues in the dudecube."

It also gets rather annoying when you ask about things in the rules topic when you could have just found the answer for yourself in a few minutes. And multiple people have gently suggested that you don't ask about that kind of stuff in this topic.

She looked at him mock-wide-eyed. "Oh, very impressive." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm but her eyes were playful. "What did you fight? Obviously nothing too out of the ordinary." "And other fairy tales, right? Or do you call it human tales where you're from?" Jinnipher laughed at her own joke and order another two meads, shoving one into Kheyli's hands. "To friendship, huh?" She clunked her own mug to Kheyli's and chugged down half of its contents. She wiped her mouth and replied to the vampire. "Whatever suits you, sweetheart. So long as the Paladin Order doesn't come bursting through these doors waving stakes and silver swords around. Is it true that you're also allergic to garlic?" She looked at him mock-wide-eyed. "Oh, very impressive." Her voice was dripping with sarcasm but her eyes were playful. "What did you fight? Obviously nothing too out of the ordinary." "And other fairy tales, right? -
Jinnipher shrugged. "So long as you're competent in battle and able to get the job done, you're okay in my book." "Who?" "Whatever makes you feel better, I guess." "Tell me, vampire, does the Bright and Holy usually accept the eternally blood-thirsty into His arms?"
-
Jinnipher thought to the person she'd most recently shared a bed with, and scowled. "I like some people well enough. Just don't wait around for them to care about you. Life is fleeting and people are fickle. Time spent waiting for someone be a good friend is time wasted, and the only person you can truly rely on is yourself."
-
"So let's talk about your friends then, Lind. Do they know you'd turn on them at any time if it meant getting a Letter of Recommendation?" "She sounds like a wise woman. The only friends you need are a good sword, a warm fire and a strong mead. " Jinnipher raised her mug and finished its contents.
-
"Friends?" Jinnipher looked legitimately taken aback. "Who needs friends? I'm just saying for his own good, this is no place for a farm hand." She eyed the newcomer's cattle prod.
-
Jinnipher looked the farmer boy up and down. "Aren't you a little green to be in this business, kiddo? Dragons are rare but they're definitely real. Fairy tales? I've heard a few." She looked at Kheyli with a grin.
-
"I can't say I have. Hel of a name for an archdemon, though." Jinnipher took a long drink from her mug. "Things must be pretty bad here if they prefer that. Look at the bright side, more conflict means more work for us. A world at peace is no place for a sellsword." She gazed into her mug and spoke the words halfheartedly, as if she didn't really believe in such a sentiment herself.

Er... It's not just going to appear from the sky. You have to, you know, actually get a drop or buy it from another player. Why is this a rules question?
