  1. Coming soon to theaters: Saw XXLI October 31, 2134
  2. Yes, please, no more lightsabers.... Also, I'd like tro make an announcement. As of today, our member Oky Wan Kenobi has been named co-leader of the SW Comic Game. He has shown great loyalty for this game, and has helped out a lot. He also has proven that he can handle the responsibility. Thanks, buddy!
  3. I may just buy the first three pictured on the front page (8956, 7957 and 8958). The blue helmets are very cool, and so are the crystals. A wide variety of rare parts doesn't hurt, either. I like how each set (besides the biggest one) has a different color rock creature and matching crystal (red, blue, green, neon-green, and orange). I can't wait to see that trans-orange crystal!
  4. Hello, all. Lately I've been looking at my smaller sets, and what I could do with them. I thought maybe an alternate model(s) of the Hailfire and Spider droids would do nicely, so I did that. I made these Star Wars items completely out of my imagination, and out of the pieces that came with the 7670 Hailfire and Spider Droid set, and with pieces from that only. Amphibious Tank: This was the first model I made, mostly from the Hailfire parts. I think it turned out pretty good, to be honest. I made this a heavily armed CIS droid (meaning remote controlled, no pilot) that can leap great heights. With eight missiles and an huge laser mounted on its head, this frog packs quite a punch! This model actually reminded me of "Zoids", if you know what those are. CIS Intel Satellite: I made a satellite out of the two wheels of the hailfire as well as a good array of other parts. This sucker can be an intelligence satellite for the CIS, or even a super-laser if you wanted it to be. Hyperdrive Generator: Not much to say here, but this is just a little hyperdrive generator for a small ship that I made out of the leftover parts. Not much to it, but the "plug", if you will, can be removed from it's socket. Maintenance Droid: After still having parts left over from the other creations, I made this with the last of the parts. This is a little maintenance droid with two grabbing claws. Perhaps it works in a battle droid factory, like in AOTC. It is holding a gray disk in one claw while it hovers high above the ground. I used all of the parts included in the Hailfire and Spider Droids set (minus the battle droids, guns, and extras), and am overall very happy with the outcome. Any of your feedback is appreciated!
  5. 7622: Race for the Stolen Treasure Number of Pieces: 272 Number of Minifigs: 4 Price: 29.99 USD/ 34.99 EUR/ 24.99 GBP Theme: Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark Year Released: 2008 Brickset Folder Bricklink Catalog Welcome to my first review that is not on a Star Wars set! This time, it's going to be an Indiana Jones set: Race for the Stolen Treasure. You'll have lots of fun with this set, and I hope my review tempts you to get it! The Box This is the basic box design for all Indy sets. The theme is stated at the top in that famous orange-yellow grain font, underlined with a bullwhip. The background is desert, the area that Indy was in when this scene (that this set is based on) in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Overview You can see what this set contains when built: a cargo truck, a military jeep, and a white horse. The main idea of this set is for Indy to chase the cargo truck, climb on to it, and steal it, all while avoiding gunfire from the jeep, hanging on tight to the edges of the truck, not getting run over, not getting punched to death, and driving safely. Cargo Truck In this picture, you can view the front of the cargo truck. Note the brick built mud-flaps, brick-built bumper, two side mirrors, and a grill. (Sorry for the flash spot, by the way). Side Here's the side, where you can see the cab, the mud-flaps, the cloth cover, three wheels on each side, and lots of silver studs. The cab, unfortunately, is mostly one piece, but has room for two. Fortunately, the mud-flaps are brick built, and the cover is made out of cloth or paper, with a nice design on it. You can spot some nice SNOT techniques in the front. Trunk Here is the back of the truck. The cover, as said before, is made out of paper or cloth, and it is held on by two clamps on each side, as you'll see in a second. Clamps These are what hold the cover in place: a hinged plate with some help of Technic pins. It's a very simple, but very clever technique, kudos to the designers! Inside the Trunk This must be where the treasure is! Yes, I can see a chest! Wait, it's gold! Not brown, gold! Yes, a gold chest is rare to come across, I think this may be the only set that has one. The spacious back can also contain up to six troops, so you can use it as a troop transport as well. Whats in the chest, you ask? Well... Treasure Wow, look at all of that treasure! Yes, the gold chest contains a variety of ruby, sapphire, and emerald jewels, as well as valuable gold coins. I think it's a random choice of the colors of the jewels. In mine, I got two green, two red, and one blue, although I did add some from my castle sets. One thing that I don't understand is that in the movie, it was the Ark that Indy was chasing, not just treasure. Jeep This is the Jeep. The mud-flaps on this are also brick built, which is very nice. Also note the silver studs, the side mirrors, the windshield, and the grill. Side Here, you can see the wheels. The hubcaps can be flipped to either a military style with little holes around the edges, or a conventional style, with a design on them. The tires work really well on both trucks. Gun Mount Here is the gun mount. It consists of a black jeep piece, a black stoplight/ camera piece, and a black lightsaber hilt, which you can also use for Qui-Gon Jinn's lightsaber (which is mostly black instead of chrome). It is actually a very clever design, although if you wanted to be more accurate, you could always go to BrickArms.com. Sadly, the front can only fit one driver and no passenger, but if you wanted, you could place another troop on the back with a gun. Back Here is the back. Usually, there would be a spare wheel on that blue pin, but recently most of my collection was destroyed by my brat of a neighbor's kid. So I can't find it... Anyways, let's get some... Action Shots Here is Indy using his whip to reach the truck. The whip is completely flexible, but curls up once you let go. Here is Indy hanging on to the bottom of the cab, ready to swing up and... ...hop in and take the truck! Go, Indy! Minifigs Finally, here are the figs. This set includes three Nazis and Indy. From left to right: Bruce Wayne in disguise, Gramps, Indy, and Teenager. Not now, Shadowfax! Anyways, I like the variety of Nazi heads. They even made two new ones! I remember when they just used regular smiley faces for every minifig... and Indy is great! Everything from his cool torso and printed legs to the fedora, to the whip is spot on! The only thing is that it's the same torso and legs in every IJ set... Well, that's about it, the time has come for the... FINAL VERDICT Build: 9/10, a fun little build, pretty easy and straightforward. Should take the seasoned builder about 20-30 minutes. Playability: 9/10, even though it doesn't have any features, it's just fun to zoom the trucks around and reenact the scene from Raiders. Swooshability: 10/10, the trucks ride very well on just about any surface. Minifigs: 8/10, the figs were great, and the variety of heads was good, but it could have included some more Nazis. Design: 8/10, the design was very clever, and most of the set was brick built, except for the cab, which I one big <insert that tiresome argument> piece. Price: 8.5/10, the price-perpiece factor was a little off. Overall Score: 8.7, an awesome set. The figs are good, the design is good, and it's fun to play with. I highly recommend this set to any LEGO fan who wants some trucks for an army, city, or just likes Indy. That's all for my review on this set, I hope you liked it. Feedback is welcomed! (By the way, I did this review two months ago in the RA, so please no flaming).
  6. Hm, basically 1-2 hours on wekkdays, and maybe three or four on days that I don't have school (meaning weekends, days off, and holidays).
  7. Hm, I voted the Hailfire and Spider Droid set, since I honestly love it (although no one else seems to). Although, I do like the Droid Gunship, Republic Fighter Tank (RFT), and V-19, with the Gunship trailing close behind (because of it's price).
  8. Thanks for the pics, Skipper and RoscoPC! Here are my new opinions on these sets (I know that they are still preliminary!): Ahsoka's Fighter and Vulture Droid: Really, IMO, this set (looks horrible. The whole thing looks way to blocky, namely the vulture droid and buzz droids. Ahsoka's fighter looks okay, but the droid's colors do not match at all, and the tip is a little blocky. Until I see some better buzz droids, it's a no-buy for me. Clone Walker Battle Pack: Looking better than ever, really smooth and awesome. Assasin Droid Battle Pack: Same as the Clone Battle Pack, fantastic. Hyena Droid Bomber: It looks better than before, but the wings still need improvement. Vader's TIE: Absolutely perfect. Very compact and smooth, and a perfect kick-off to the Anniversary. This is just like Anakin's JSF 2008, when TLG gives you a taste of the Summer main theme for SW. Hopefully I will get this beautiful set. AAT: The AAT itself is very good, a definite buy. I also like the new gun/ hand pieces for the SBDs. Yoda's head is sorta cool, considering it's CW-based. It's actually pretty nice to have both regular and cartoon versions of SW figures. In any case, I love Yoda's torso. Good amount of figs, too. Republic Attack Shuttle (RAS): Meh, the wings are way to stubby and blocky for me, and if this is not a prelim pic, I'm going to call this the Hunkajunk of '09. . Mace's head is what should be expected, but I can't say that I like it. Ah, well at least he has a good torso and purple lightsaber. For now, I'm a little iffy on this one, it will depend on the price whether or not I get this one. So, overall, some of these sets need major improvement, while others need none at all. Hopefully those that do are preliminary, so here's to hoping!
  9. Thanks Skipper 24 for the pics! I love the new plane (and German torso). The cars are looking better thatn ever. However... I agree with you there, DP. It looks good apart from the actual fuel tank, which they shrunk considerably. I think that they need to get it back to the original size.
  10. Hehe, Silver Brains Yugioh is my new one. It definitely gave me a good laugh, and I have an idea of who gave it to me... It's probably (meaning 99.9%) having to do with my silver reviewers tag. Or maybe I just like chrome/ silver lightsaber hilts. And brains, from my previous titles. BRAAAIIIINNNNSSS! And Yugioh, from my old (dorky) email. Silver brains, Silver Brains, soon it will be Christmas Day...
  11. Ah, so here's where I say happy B-day to Hinckley... Happy Birthday, Hinckley!! Have a fantastic day, and get lots of that stuff that you build with every day of your life.
  12. Woah, that's huge! Those huge pieces must have been custom molds, and very expensive.
  13. Ah, yes, I saw a catalog with those price cuts. I also believe that the AT-TE has gotten a $10 price cut (as well as some Agents sets). And speaking of which, I saw the V-19 at K-Mart for $65! Just how are they planning on selling that with that huge price leap?!
  14. Does it really matter? I was just using general terms, so sure, we're in the smaller one. Uhm, I really can't see anything. Do mean that fellow with some sort of green head? The picture is really blurry and I can't really see your fig. Would you mind getting a better one? (I don't have many of the pieces that you've used, some pretty rare one that you have.)
  15. Okay, Adam, thanks for clearing that up. I'll change my post. Finally, this chapter makes somewhat sense. "Everyone to stations! Fire up the cannons!" ordered Jim. The clones complied, and Jim headed to the cockpit. "Oky Wan, stay here in the control room, we may need you to fix up some things. The rest of you spread out and command the weapons control. I'm heading to the cockpit". Oky Wan rolled his eyes. Always getting left behind he thought. Jim must have saw this, so he said "Don't worry, I'll send some techies" and headed off. *** "Captain, what's the status report?" Butcher asked as he took a seat in the large cockpit. "Not good, sir. They not giving quarter, and we're giving them all we've got. We only have one Destroyer besides ours, and that's heavily damaged. The rest have moved on." "Then give them more. These damn Seps need to die. Concetrate all fire on the external shield generators". "Yessir". "And get that techie team to the control room. Kenobi needs help". "Yessir." the captain said as he pressed the communications button for the rear sector of the ship. "Technical team 3, report to the control room immediately. Repeat: Technical 3 to control room". No response. The captain tried again. Still nothing. "What now?!" asked an irritated Butcher. "They haven't responded. I don't even think that sector is getting a signal..." "Damn. Get someone down there. No, belay that, I'm going myself, get Adam up here." Butcher said as he ran towards the rear of the ship.
  16. Happy Birthday, guys! Have a great day! But aren't you forgetting Hinckley...?
  17. "Sir, we're getting a signal from an unknown cruiser, possibly a Republic ally" said a techie. "Patch it through" said Jim. "Yessir" A blue hologram of an unfamiliar figure appeared on the holo-projector. "Hello, my name is Bob Artigulu, I'm a Republic ally. Do need assistance?" "Any we can get is highly appreciated, thank you" Butcher replied. Finally, some luck. "Alright, how can I help?" "You can try to take down that cruiser's shields. Unfortunately, these Republic shuttles are only passing through to get to another planet, where it is more needed... of course they don't know about-" he stopped talking. He had almost let it slip, and he hardly knew this guy! Let alone his affiliation. "Alright, here I go..." Bob said nervously. "Captain, call the team up here. It's time to end this" commanded Jim. "Yessir". came the reply. *** "What's up, Jim?" asked Oky Wan when he and the rest of the team got to the main control room. "It's time". "Where's Garviel?" asked Thok. "He went in to another ship to command, but we're not sure where that ship is..." he replied. Just then, as if on cue, the group watched in horror as the cruiser flying next to theirs went up in flames. Nobody said anything for a few seconds. Wouwie broke the silence. "Oh no... that was Garviel's ship, wasn't it?" He was afraid of the answer. "Y-Yes..." They silently grieved over Garviel's death as their ship shook by the force of the Seperatist cruiser's cannon fire... Remember, they don't know that Garviel escaped, or that Adam left the ship. By the way, Adam, how would you take all of the comm links in the ship?
  18. Ingenues! I am stunned, Sly Owl! Both the dragon and MOC are extremely impressive and clever, withought doubt. Congratulations on making this wonderful MOC.
  19. Sure, sine the chapter has only started, just get some pics. Still confused... but just post something to clear this up (in the story). Carry on. Sorry I haven't made a post (besides the starter) yet, I'm just waiting for more people to post.
  20. Please relax, I can remove them perfectly fine without a mod's help. Woah, thanks DR! So, a chrome hilt is worth 30 regular bricks... or so it says (they could be exaggerating). Now we have an explanation on the lightsaber hilt mystery... the metallic hilts aren't that bad, really... (I hope I didn't stray off topic too much).
  21. For those who can't see the folder: (Removed)
  22. Cool entry, General! What I like: The blood from the stabbed guard is good, especially the red flower piece. The vig also is very hectic. The pirate emerging from the water is cool, and so is your stone wall What could be improved: The stone wall shattering is good, but perhaps you could move the cannon ball deeper, so it looks like it's going through the wall, instead of just touching it. I would also make the guard on top of the wall look like he's fumbling with his musket, instead of standing there with a scared face. The red and black tiles on the side of the vig in some of your pics might be breaking some of the rules, too. Good luck!
  23. Notice how Anakin's lightsaber hilt isn't metallic... strange... Thanks for that pic, Wouwie. I'm interested in seeing the other pics.
  24. That and the fact that we're sue happy. Thanks CopMike, I always thought that the pieces count/ age suggestions etc. were for prelim pics.
  25. Too late... besides, you can just watch them at SW.com.
