  1. Good entry so far, Vadim. What I like: The beach is nicely done, good transition of colors there. The tower and wall are also good for the most part. I also like your little ship that you've built from scratch. What could be improved: On top of the tower, you have that little place where minifigs can stand, but it looks very unfinished. To fix this, I would suggest you take out the inner-bricks supporting the main walls, and then putting a round or hexagonal (two trapezoid plates put together) plate to eliminate most of the holes. Your ship also seems a bit unfinished, I would advise you to smooth out those rough edges and perhaps add paper sails (custom paper sails are allowed). The last bit of advice I have for you is to change the knights into pirates and Imperial guards, to fit the theme better. If you don't have any pirate set, use what you have to make the figs look like pirates and guards. Overall, you entry has a good start, but needs some work. Good luck on doing so!
  2. Whoops, sorry... I guess I jumped the gun there... although I still hope that a regular-sized Venator will be released...
  3. That was the joke... You know, potato eyes...? The little holes that they have? At least, that's what I thought they were called.....
  4. Awesome review, Brickster! This set is better than what I originally thought it to be, and cheap, too! With so many play features and cool pieces/ figs, I really want to get this set. Wonderful Halloween reviews this past month, Brickster, hopefully you'll do more themed reviews in the future. Happy Halloween! :skull:
  5. Same here. Pretty scary, and reminded me of "Monster House". I also liked Guss's, Sandy's, and Pickerel's, all very cool. All of the entries were great, though, and I'm sad that I didn't participate. Good luck to all! :skull:
  6. If you take a look here, on Brickset's 2009 Star Wars set list, they have all of the sets that we have seen. But more importantly, there is an additional set at the bottom named "Republic Star Destroyer", undoubtedly the previously rumored Venator ship that we've heard about. The only difference between now and then is that Brickset has been known to be an extremely reliable source. We are most likely looking at this set actually being made, so keep your eyes peeled for more news. I am almost certain that this is true.
  7. It's a moisture evaporator, can't you tell? It's going to suck the planet dry of water, then every one will die of thirst! The ultimate weapon, even more powerful than the Death Star!
  8. Oh, I'm sorry I missed this before, it was pretty interesting! You sure got a lot, I didn't know you were into those themes (Spongebob, Exo-Force). Poor kids, Lego had to go all cheap on them. Anyway, looks like you had quite a lot of fun! That is one badass latte!
  9. Well, it is a pretty rare fig. But it's yours, you can do what you want with it, but I wouldn't do that to my figs. I'll also take interest in this little project of yours. This first one is good (way better than I could ever do), perhaps you ought to make cleaner cuts (if possible)? I'm sure it would be easier to glue. Would you be willing to tell what you're cutting with?
  10. Welcome, timbutnice! Congrats on getting the MF and Taj Mahal sets! I'll look for you around the boards, and hopefully you'll make a couple of reviews.
  11. "So, do we meet up with Garviel?" asked Thok through the comm link. "Yes, then we advance to the base. We take up a safe position overlooking it, then we call in an air strike. If it doesn't completely destroy the base, we sneak in, blowing up anything with teeth bigger than it's head or an AI chip smaller than a midichlorian" explained Butcher. "Then plant a little surprise for them, evacuate, and blow up the base along with the time machine. With luck, General Grievous will be there and die, and we can end the clone wars that much quicker. It turns out this little incident is in the Republic's favor." "Hopefully ours too..." mumbled Oky Wan. "I also packed a little something in the cargo hold, just in case" said Jim. *** After landing safely near the base (the cloaking device was on), the group of three hopped out of the ARC. The Gunship fleet would be arriving as soon as a flare was sent up, since there was no signal on the ship fighting above. "So, Jim, what was that 'little something' you were talking about?" asked Oky Wan. "Oh, you'll see soon enough..." came the reply. Pics soon!
  12. That's too bad Oky Wan, but at least the other contestants have a chance. I didn't get to make an entry either, but oh well. By the way, what has eyes but can't see? A potato!
  13. I really like this, Tinn-man! What I like: The shop is very good, and I like the items hanging on the wall. The lamps and flags are nice additions, and the stone path is done beautifully, bravo. What could be improved: This doesn't really show cruelty, though. I would either add some or change your concept entirely. It's up to you to figure out what to do. I would also advise you to change up the faces a bit; perhaps give the pirate with the bandanna a better face that's not so generic, and give the black pirate a hat or headgear of some sort. Also, you could change the revolvers (which weren't around at the time of pirates) to pirate pistols. Please take these things into mind, and good luck!
  14. Oh, I see... well that explains things. Thanks for the link.
  15. Very nice, eti! Some great building techniques that you've used (which reminds me to get working on my Lego house!). Nothing like Lego to bring back memories...

    City '09?

Thanks for the pics, Skipper 24! I'm not much of a City fan, but here are my thoughts on these new sets: 7630 (Bulldozer): Looks like an alright set. Good to see that City is expanding into more and more sub-themes (Construction, Police, Farm, etc.). Estimated price: $15.00 USD 7631 (Dump truck): Again, looks alright. Nothing special here, but the addition of cones and roadblock was a good idea. Estimated price: $20.00 USD 7632 (Crane): Too many Technic parts for me, but it looks like a good set. Estimated price: $35.00 USD 7633 (Construction site): Looks really cool, especially the shop. Estimated price: $80.00 USD 7634 (Tractor): Looks like a neat little set, I might get it. Estimated price: $10.00 7635 (Horse trainer): Pretty cool, although the cab is a BURP. Estimated price: $20.00 7636 (Crop cutter): Meh, it's okay. I'll be interested in seeing a review of this. Estimated price: $35.00 7637 (Farm): Really awesome, I can see a farmer with a white fedora. The cows and dog are also nice. Estimated price: $60.00 7685 (Big bulldozer): I wonder why this one has a different ID number than the rest. Doesn't look that great. Estimated price: $50.00 8401 (City street): Looks good, but I wonder the significance of this set? Maybe just a fig pack? Estimated price: $10.00 Overall, these sets look good, but It's not likely that I will get them (except maybe the farm). Sorry, but Lego City just doesn't appeal to me much.
  17. Same here, I wish this was more thorough. I would have liked to see promo minifig information, such as the golden C-3PO (although I already know about it, but there might be other promos), and other minifigs that made history, like magnets.
  18. How mysterious... however, I'm leaning towards the "publicity stunt" explanation, as it's very unlikely that it just fell off a boat and washed up on shores. Looks pretty clean for being in the ocean to me. Also, I would think it would sink before it reached shores, unless it was built to float. Very interesting, though.
  19. I just saw "Rookies" on the website, and I have to say that it is my favorite one yet. Rex was beasty in this one. Unfortunately, tonight's episode looks dumb. Yeah, R2-D2 is a valuable droid, but I don't think that the Republic would waste that much time and energy just to find him.
  20. Maybe in your country, Rex, but I'm pretty sure that TSCC only airs on Mondays in the U.S, and there wasn't one this week because of the playoff game. What episode did you see?
  21. Oh, very cruel indeed, fenrir! What I like: Like I said, very cruel. I like how you've left part of the ground open to see the treasure, and the coins spilling out gives a certain luster to your MOC. What could be improved: I wouldn't think that these pirates would be smiling! To fix this, I suggest you give Captain Black a cruel face, such as Goldtooth's (Agents), and give the other pirates scared faces. Also, you could maybe add some texture to the sand using different small plates and such to give it detail. If you change those few things that I've mentioned, I'm sure you will have an overall better entry. Good luck on the contest!
  22. Very scary entry, fenrir. What I like: This definitely captures the idea of pirates' cruelty. Lots of torturing and dead bodies is a sure way to send chills to the bone. Your pulley system is great as well, good job on that. The addition of a little holding chamber behind the main "attraction" was a smart idea as well. What could be improved: The BURPs that you used for the walls are really uncreative, I'm sure that you could use smaller bricks to create an even better wall. Also, I would suggest using "mean" faces for the pirates, such Goldtooth's from Lego Agents, and scared faces for the soldiers, such as the famous screaming face from Castle. Overall, this entry has a great concept, but the MOC could be improved. Do that, and I'm sure that you'll have a wonderful entry. Good luck!
  23. Great entry, xpatriot720x! What I like: The best part about this MOC is the burned sails, which don't break the rules at all, very creative! That part also shows cruelty from the pirates. The little action scenes are cool too, and the skull "door" is great, especially since it's brick-built, and not the <insert that tiresome argument> piece. What could be improved: It's hard to get an idea of how deep the water is, since it's only waist high on the wading people, but a boat can still float in that water. I would also add more blood, but that may be a personal preference. Overall, a good entry, and I wish you good luck on the contest.
  24. Nice entry! What I like: The fort and ship are built beautifully. The action is great, and the cannons firing is animated perfectly. The intricate designs and rock formations on the walls are very cool! What could be improved: I would suggest that you add more cruelty and perhaps blood, to fit the theme of the contest. I really like your entry though, good luck!
  25. Striped Marlin... I think I should win because I never got a Pirate set, and would love to get one, especially since my chances of winning the PTV contest are very slim. Pirates are so cool. Oh, and Mister Phes is really awesome, probably the coolest guy out there. I know he's cool because he sends out Pirate sets. What an amazing guy...
