Nice! I like how you planned it out with a miniature first, maybe I ought to try that. Of course, the full scale looks excellent. The MOC has a very eerie sort of vibe from it, which I like. Very nice work on the church inside. A few suggestions: - The water was the first to catch my eye in a bad way. The blues just don't seem to blend together well, and small plates of dark blue and clear are placed sparingly. I would invest in more of these pieces to make the water look more natural. - The tall tress look a little bare. Not sure if they're supposed to look this way, but I think they could do with more leaves. Other than that, great work. I'd be really interested in this fantasy history you based this off of.

Question- why aren't there anymore Senior Editiors for the Shipyard? You know, the really special ones who had the red bandanna-d skull? Now I only see the blue ones, and the reds aren't even on the Ranks thread...

Welcome to the world of Pokémon!
JimBee replied to tin7_creations's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Oh boy, does this bring those days back... Well done, your from-scratch Pokemon are top-notch. I really like how they're compatible with official Lego parts. Oak is pretty accurate as well. Looking forward to more Pokemon custom figures, tin7! -
I'm late... But Happy Birthday to Athos and Holodoc, hope you guys had a great day! Nice setup, Holodoc! Lucky you to get a homemade wooden sign from your son. What does it say?

Agreed! I don't think I've liked Sayid this much as a character before- that fight with the ninja guy was so badass! I was somewhat sad to see the new characters- ninja and hippie- go so soon, but their deaths definitely contributed to the episode is a good way. I guess the theory about Smoke wanting to destroy everything on the island and Jacob wanting to save it are proving themselves to be right. But here's a crazy theory- what if there is no evil? What if Jacob has been playing both parts- himself and his enemy- in order to successfully destroy the island and everything on it? What if every specific event had to happen for that reason? Out there, I know... but Lost has been known for it's twists. We're expecting that there is a conflict between two un-earthly characters, but maybe it's not what it seems? Also, remember the "scale" that Ninja used to determine Sayid's level of good and evil? More proof of the two dimensions co-existing? In this episode we saw Sayid for the first time in the parallel universe- and saw that unlike the other's universes, who had one good and one not-so-good life, both of Sayid's were bad. He was "evil incarnate". Exciting stuff.

Licensed or unlicensed new Western sets?
JimBee replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
That's easy- unlicensed. Yellow minifigs is probably the biggest reason, because I get enough fleshie from the licensed themes, and like to have a balance. Lower cost of having an original theme is another big one. No license agreements, so no extra price tacked on. Licensed themes (LT) like SW are really getting expensive for this reason (or one of them). Lastly, ideas from Lego are always new and refreshing- though I imagine some of the sets will be similar to Western films, the ideas aren't limited to what's already been done. And looking at the Toy Story sets... well, I don't like them much. I want a solid, all-System theme with normal parts. -
Thanks! Don't worry though, the original was built with a non-airtight cockpit, so maybe it comes with an invisible barrier? Or perhaps our orc friend is amphibious?
-
Ah yeah, that makes sense. I guess I just didn't think about it that way, thanks for the explanation.
-
I don't really know an audience who plays that game besides 10-year-old girls, so I don't really think it would be profitable for TLG to make a theme out of it. The GFOL (or FFOL) community, young ones especially is minuscule on any scale, and for the boys that like the game... well, do you really think many kids would get Lego Club Penguin over another Lego theme, or a race car or Barbie doll? I'd doubt it.

Well done! Instantly recognizable, with all of the open rooms. All of these classic SW scenes, Castle-fied... one could say you're submitting multiple entries in one. One question, though- what is the treasure room supposed to represent? Just an add on? Because I don't remember anything like that in the original set. I really like the use of the orc minifig for Chewie.

Hello all, I'm submitting my entry to the Classic-Castle's Time Twisters contest (say that five times fast), so I decided to post it here, too. And the original set: Thanks for looking, and as always, feedback and comments are appreciated.

Wow, these are great! Perfect interpretation of the yacht's shape with slopes. I really like the first one with the tall mast. Are the buoys sand green because of the water, or just a color you chose? I think they would look better in another color, though. Dark blue, maybe? Sand green just sticks out too much. Nice use of flex tubing for the railings.

Looks good! I like all of the tile effects, especially on the pillars. The subtle shrubbery is good as well. Most of all, though, I like how you and Morten are close friends so that you can just trade off minifigures. Did you meet each other via Eurobricks? Creative use of parts for the two Rebel guards (Plo Koon torsos).

Nope, just handlebars on the inside, and the imprints of his hands facing out on the outside. Not a single stud. And if you look closely, you can see that the dark pearl silver is marbled- meaning, there are waves of of different shades and colors on the piece. Would this mean a bad quality part, like the kind you see in cheap toys, or a mis-mold for Shadows to hoard? On the polybag- I wonder why they did this? Only 2000 to go around in just over a week, and we already have the magnet. The magnet figure looks perfectly normal to me, no signs of bad quality. Then again, I don't move it's arms and legs around much, so they're still stiff. Well good for those who are lucky enough to find this in their next SW set.

But then by the time I rewatch them, I already know what they mean because I've already seen future episodes. Before watching the whole show in order online, I saw a few episodes of Season 3 on TV, which kind of spoiled a few mysteries of previous episodes. Anyway, here is the weekly article on IGN that I read. Like I said, the writer has some very interesting theories. But if you take a look at the second to last paragraph, on the third and final page... I was wondering this as well. Does that mean Jack just broke the line between the two alternate universes, and neither can co-exist? Why would Jacob want that? Here's another interesting one: If you read the article, you would know another theory is about the fact that the alternate universe has the characters with better (and much different) lives than they had in the original universe- almost like Heaven. However, this "Heaven" exists without [most of] the bad, and the original universe exists without most of the good. If Jack just broke the barrier, does that mean the two will coexist, or that they will never get to coexist?

The carbonate mold... it's studless, right? Here's the topic where I first heard it. Take a look through the posts in that thread, too, there are some other changes in colors noted by other members. Maybe you can find some information here, as well.

Well, somewhere around there. I guess I got that from the slave ship, but I remember reading that that was the era. Those recap episodes. maybe? I get my LOST reading in from IGN. Probably not as in depth, but they do have a few interesting theories there. Same here. I watched seasons 1-4 for the first time last January, and I'm debating whether to watch them again. They were great the first time around, but nothing in this sort is ever as good the second time around. And watching all seasons is very time consuming, each season being at least 15 hours long.

Agreed, this is turning out spectacularly so far. However, Season 3 is still my favorite. What did Claire Sayed? She Said something. Sayid. It wasn't really anything important, just something like "you shouldn't be here", "Jacob sent me" "Koowah!" Anything beyond that is past me, you're probably the most qualified to translate anything he said in Japanese. I like the chemistry between Jacob and his nemesis, the smoke monster (see below for Jacob and the unnamed human form of the smoke monster): If you got the "inside joke" a few episodes ago, the two rocks (one light and one dark colored) were on the scale, equally weighted. "Smokie" threw the light-colored stone into the sea, representing the fact that Jacob (apparently the "good" force) has been defeated by Smokie, the evil force. My theory is, because of the equality between the two opposing forces, Jacob and Smoke can't kill each other. Which is why they "need help" from outsiders and manipulate them. Neither of them are actually still alive (that picture above took place in the 1600s, when their human lives took place), so they have to take over dead people's bodies/ appearances. We see this with Christian, Jack's father, when his casket was found to be empty on the island when Jacob takes his appearance, and when Smoke takes Locke's appearance. We also saw that Jacob's cabin had a ring of ash around it to keep the smoke monster out. In the season premier, one of the gunmen that carried the real Locke's casket poured a ring of ash around himself to protect from the smoke monster. So Jacob and Smoke are constantly trying to kill each other. They've both been dead for centuries, but each took an option to live on in spirit. Jacob made a list of candidates to be his heir, and gathered them up via his ghost form (that no one except for the intended person can see). Smoke, as his name implies, lives on in the form of the Smoke monster. Another thing to note, that I think is quite interesting, is the fact that the chemistry between Jacob and Smoke mirrors that of Jack and Locke, which was emphasized in past seasons (particularly 4). Explaining these relationships would take far to long, so I'll just say that since Locke has already been taken over by Smoke, I think Jack will be taken over by Jacob. As said in the most recent episode, "Jack is ready". Jacob already took over Jack's father, once, so that was the next best thing at the time for Jacob. Maybe Jack is the only one that can stop Locke. Finally, the last part of my theory for the finale season, is that Smoke is trying to manipulate Jacob's candidates into killing each other. If he was telling the truth to Sawyer, about being one of Jacob's possible heirs, then he wants any chance of Jacob returning to be obliterated. Sawyer was the "weakest" one of the five remaining candidates, being heartbroken and all that, so Sawyer will possibly be manipulated into killing the other candidates and/ or himself. Since Claire, not being one of the candidates, was taken in by Jacob, then somehow possessed by Smoke, has Jin, I think he will be killed next. I wonder what all of this leads up to. Protecting/ destroying the island? Only time will tell.

Well, a piece like this. It doesn't really have any apparent compatibility with other Lego elements other than what it was made for. Pieces like minifig pieces are compatible, with other minifig parts. Yes, it was confirmed (I think) that trans-black (as TLG calls it, trans-brown) will be discontinued. What a shame, I think the Slave I might've been more accurate with that color windshield than trans-clear. I'm not sure I believe Zzz, because these look pretty final to me.
