  1. It is ever worse with the softer plastics. Like the axle joiners part 6536 in red and yellow. Some are see-through...
  2. the photoshopped pics are a bit tricky... the gold pieces on the pics looks really gold and shiny. The real parts are less shiny haha
  3. I am certain the paneled version is the correct version (thank God!). That is the version that also has the stickers already, so it seems to be more recent. Why else would they apply stickers that are generally developed late in the design process.
  4. I wonder how you always are the first to get that info Grogall. But thanks a lot!!!
  5. I sincerely hope the version with the extra panels is the right one. The other version feels unfinished.
  6. Yes. It looks like a new frame... Could als be a regular 5x7 frame with part 32184
  7. Do I see this part in black at the bottom of the 42009 Crane ? And you'd almost say it has this frame in 3x5 or 3x7:
  8. Just built my Palace Cinema. Great set! A few flaws: - the sign that says Palace hangs and is not straight - the diagonal window on the auditorium floor is attached with one single stud. A stud at the top would have been possible. Now it is realy flimsy - i had two types of tan jumper plates. Really annoying because they are very visible - my light bley 1x1 plate with clips at the entrance doors are almost dark bley. The color difference is shocking. Same goes for the 1x4 dark tan plates - one step of the black ground floor stairs is not locked. Could have been easily fixed since all other steps were fixed - hopefully one day lego will create pearl gold pieces that don't have ugly marks all over them - one piece was missing: a black dish Don't get me wrong: these are all minor flaws. It is still a great set with nice building techniques! It ks also great the old molds for the glass windows are back. No ugly marks like in Town Hall
  9. what is that 8-sided ridged element near the engines?
  10. Got mine too. So who else builds the most boring floors of Modulars first? I always enjoy building the ground and top floors most. So with the numbered bags I will probably build the auditorium floor first, then the roof and then the ground floor...
  11. Did thet change the wedge belt wheels in the big wheels from dark bley to light bley?
  12. Oops post #666 and I still love 8421. It is just with all these studless sets and the arrival of PF, 8421 looks a bit dated. Yet, it is an amazing set...
  13. Still 8421 has flaws. The pneumatics being the major one. Lowering/crashing the boom simply by letting the air out is really lame.
  14. With the 8421 and the 8053 crane the function to extend the boom was linked to the function to lower the hook. This way you don't run out of wire when the extension of the boom demands more wire. Does it look like it is the case with 42009? The hook-lowering and book extending both work with a worm gear yet with different transmission speeds. All functions of the two driving rings seem to be occupied. With 8053 two driving rings were used for 3 functions.
  15. the crane has new frictionless 8t gears. This enable the axle to rotate and extend or retract. NICE! Although red is a strange color...
  16. there is no way the turning of the upper structure is motorized. It either means the motor in on the upper structure with an axle going through the turn table (actually one of two functions going through the turn table, the other one being the outriggers). And it is impossible to switch the motor on or off and change functions when the upper structure that has the battery box is rotating! Option two is the motor being in the lower structure but that way many functions have to be driven through the turn table and that way the upper structure needs a complex gearbox. I also believe the crane is too heavy to be rotated by a motor.
  17. How many wheels of the Crane can steer and does it have a fake engine block?
  18. @rm8 I am not critisizing your design and want to congratulate you. It is just not my favorite.
  19. One of the main reasons it may have won is that it only includes parts and colors already on the market. TLG doesn't have to produce parts in new colors.
  20. I like the new box design!
  21. That is such a disappointment and the downfall of the series. The series was always sticker-less. Why????
  22. Release date?
