Someone from Lowlug spoke to Lego Germany and they did not have any info and were expecting a Summer release. Hopefully they just played dumb and were not allowed to disclose any info...

Studs Vs Smooth
merman replied to Ape Fight's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Having been in my Dark Ages for years: what were the reactions when TLG almost completely switched to Studless? Did Technic fans hate is at first? Personally: I like studless more. It is a more intriguing way of building and it is far more interesting and better looking than studded. -
Come on, reveal the thing for crying out loud!

Can you spill some more info about the amount of detail? Do the buildings have a lot of details, ornaments and stuff? From the reconstruction the walls and windows seem a bit plane. I have always liked Jamie's eye for detail and nice ornaments...

Lego Technic Clones
merman replied to imajor's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is this even allowed? The patent on Technic beams especially studless is still in tact right? And they are not allowed to clone actual models... -
I realize that now. Sorry for bringing it up again. Stupid so many webshops copy-paste this info without checking...

8070 Supercar
merman replied to BrickWild's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I must say I am a bit fed up with the fact 8258, 8265 and 8070 all use the same construction of the frame with the differential and the 3L perpendicular connectors. A bit more variation please. -

That last part seems new could you please please please post the parts list (a scan of the instruction booklet)??? -
The past couple of years there have been some amazing sets to build according to plan. I enjoy building the chassis most. It is always interesting to see how a model starts... I mainly enjoy building the parts with the gears. That is also the reason why I believe 8258 and 8043 are so much fun to build: loads of interesting gears where everything has a unique place... 8421 is also very interesting. The great thing about 8421 and 8258 is that you first start with the chassis that have lots of gears and then make the crane that also has a lot of gears. I found building 8285 also very interesting. It is my first set since the dark ages and it is so incredibly big! I also believe 8284 Tractor/Dune Buggy is quite interesting when it comes to building the chass

Models for 2H of 2011
merman replied to menad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I bet the Unimog is so expensive because of the license. I encourage the use of orange. I was hoping for a gearbox and suspended wheels. At least suspension. That would be a major plus. We get 3 trucks in 2H2011... The flatbed has a very nice looking front though. Not overly enthusiastic yet... But then again: I am never very excited but eventually wind up buying all sets each year anyway... -
