  1. If I didn't already have one, I would pay approximately double the retail price for one 8459; it's one of the absolute best sets in its' size ever made by TLG.
  2. My downsize list would be: 8110 Unimog 9398 4x4 Crawler 8466 4x4 Off-roader 8258 Crane truck 8043 Excavator And my favourite list: 8845+8846 Dune buggy and Tow truck combo 8848 Power truck 8110 Unimog 8288 Crawler crane 8258 Crane truck
  3. Isn't that placement of the steering rack, in front of the wheels with backwards pointing steering arms, creating some strange steering geometry (inverted Ackerman?) where the inner wheel is turning less than the outer wheel? Maybe it doesn't matter due to the general flimsiness of Lego, or have I simply misunderstood something? Otherwise great moc!
  4. Because the display models are built by marketing, and those people have no clue what they're doing? If I remember correctly, we have seen these kind of building mistakes on previous toy fair display models. On the box art shown early in the video the lower tiles look symmetric to me.
  5. Your brake handle design is so clever I can certainly survive the lack of cords ☺.Great use of the connecting rods!
  6. I believe it's a fixie. But then, why brake handles? Hmm...
  7. Cool way of solving the problem of shelf scarcity when displaying your models. You could have the largest one hanging from the ceiling.
  8. Rather longer loads, like in the video showing the real thing; it's the length of the loads that gives the side loader advantage over regular fork lifts.
  9. The idea to have c-models demonstrating principles was nice, but I remember building that tire device when I was like eight years old, not having a clue what I was building. At least the scissor lift was understandable. The 856 bulldozer also had a gantry crane as c-model, with instructions to motorize it with three 4.5 volt motors! Quite fancy for the late seventies with a remote-by-wire controlled steerable crane. Off topic, I still have the 856 bulldozer which which I got for christmas in 1980 on display as it is one of the best technic models ever; the bucket movement is superb! I didn't really understand that when I was eight though...
  10. 854 gocart and c-model of a machine I believe is used in autoshops when attaching a tire to a rim...
  11. I have no idea. The original text only mentions a Star Wars "anniversary" edition, what ever that may be. /Thomas
  12. Has anything like this ever happened to you? According to the Swedish news agency TT, a Lego collector in Halmstad, Sweden is to be compensated by the customs office in Sweden. He had bought an anniversary edition of some Star Wars set from Hungary, but when he recieved the supposed to be MISB item, it had been opened by the customs (in search of ripoffs maybe ). The market price was about € 200, but with the seal broken it's value is only about half as much. He will now be compensated with the difference in value... If I had been a collector and not a builder I suppose I would rather have had that MISB than the compensation. /Thomas
  13. Hello! Thomas from Stockholm, Sweden here! First post for me in this forum. I have added a 8848 style front scoop with three pneumatic cylinders to my 8110. Besides that I have also added pneumatics to the stabilizers, a PF switch for smoother operation, an airtank and a clutch gear on the PF motor output. Plus some extra bracing on the PF motor. The stabilizer function itself is not modified, I have only added one cylinder to move the stabilizers up and down and they are still self locking when extracted. With the airtank I can rotate the crane and at the same time use the pneumatics. The extra clutch gear seems to reduce stress on the compressor; when pressure is to high the gear slips instead of the compressor sounding like it is going to break. The extra PF motor bracing also reduces noise when using the compressor. For a few more pics see my Brickshelf account when moderated. (I am not yet allowed to post links, you have to search for member thomol). 8848 and 8110 (yes, I've added pneumatics to my 8848 too, plus an upgraded scoop) Front scoop Pneumatic stabilizers
