The best protector for parts is already on your shopping list, but I'd also recommend the Protector of Earth and the Protector of Ice. As for the Toa, all are excellent.

Ok, so I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, but you guys know that lovely concept painting? With the Toa looking off towards the city ruins? Well, I noticed something... Looks like a face, doesn't it? A quite skull-like face, right? Right?

Yeesh, that's shameless. While I personally like this art style for the lovely retro feel that it has, it's so deviant from the toys that it just doesn't feel like Bionicle - it's more akin to G1 Transformers than anything! I really adore the first panel from the Pohatu strip though. Just look at that sweet molasses. Yes, the Gen1 characters were biomechanical... Hence the "Bio" in "Bionicle" :)

New to Bionicle, looking for MOC tips

Definitely practice fiddling with the CCBS, as that is the new standard for Bionicle stuff. My advice? Crack open Brickset or Peeron, get some manuals for some of the Hero Factory sets from 2011-2013, and have a crack at building a few of them. That should help you get a gist of how the system operates, and what can be done with it. The CCBS is a lot of fun to play with, so I think you're gonna have a lot of fun! -
This art style is beautiful. Very different to the toys, but very nice all the same. Not keen on Lewa's funky horns, however.

Note: This thread will be used as a "blog" on the development of this piece of fanfiction. If you want to keep posted on the story's development, subscribe! As danger threatens to befall upon the city once more, the race is on to retrieve the mysterious relic, and hopefully keep the city’s equilibrium as ever constant as usual. For this, the people of Lan-ra call upon three Toa warriors, one from each of the three levels of the city, to work together and find the relic. But with their individual ideas of what the relic must be and what it is for, can these elemental masters truly hold a bond of unity? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Legend of the Hidden Relic is a piece of Bionicle fanfiction I am currently working on. Set in a universe seperate to the first and second official generations of Bionicle, LotHR follows the adventure of three brave Toa in their quest to retrieve a mysterious artefact that will protect their world. But, the separate motivations of these Toa may cause some difficulty in their journey... The story is still currently a work in progress. And this is why the "im not bUYINg hero factory because is nOT BONKLE!" people were fools! Fools I tells ya! But seriously dude, I wouldn't panic. As time goes on and you buy more of the new Bionicle sets, you'll have tons of CCBS to work with! I mean, I felt exactly the same as you back in 2011 when the CCBS was launched, but as time rolled on I slowly amassed a bigger stockpile of parts, and could therefore create more new and interesting character designs. Sure, there's a few interesting parts that you've missed out on, but you can always get them later through Bricklink or eBay.

Well, seeing as I accidentally ordered a duplicate Tahu, I'll be using that Tahu's gearbox and head in a custom MOC, using the extra Skull Spider as their mask. Also, my order at the UK LEGO Shop (All of the Toa, and three of the Protectors) has been "In Warehouse" for a few days now... How long should it be 'til I get my order? I bought them on the 2nd of January.
