Oh damn, that's a much more elegant way of doing it! I don't think those gears driving the shoulders will catch in that build either... Might be worth testing it IRL. Would you mind sharing a .LXF file, or a parts list for that gearbox of yours? And regarding the silver/white on Pohatu... I kinda like it? If he's going to be fast like he was in his '01 form, I think being a silver streak'a lightnin' might help that!

Problem is, if there's less room between them, the gears catch on the back of the torso bone. The space between the gearbox and the bone here is 0.5M (half a 'stud'), as this is the Goldilocks distance in providing room for the gears to spin, and having the shoulders as close to the torso as possible. Although, this could easily only be the case for my custom design - if TLG have developed a custom gearbox, as I think it likely, they may have come up with a solution to their problem. I'm curious to see what that is, though.

Hey guys, just wondering; Does anybody know of any knockoff/clone brand Hero Factory or Bionicle sets, and (for extra brownie points) where I can buy them from? I'm especially interested in sets with unique molds or recolours, that the original LTG sets didn't have.

I did a little mockup of what the gear mechanisms could be like. What do you all think?

Nail, meet Head. Like, sure, it's the Toa! Awesome! But the lack of poseability? Floppy shoulders? Locked-in-position heads? No thanks.

I... Kind of agree now, but I wouldn't have agreed back in 2001. But, I am a big CCBS fanboy anyway sooooo That image is lovely c:

Future DC & Marvel Character as Ultrabuilds
Logan McOwen replied to ShadowWolfHount's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I think TLG would go for popular characters. For DC, we'd likely see Superman, or for Marvel, Spiderman or Thor.- 19 replies

I'm definitely going for Lewa, Gali and of course Tahu, although Pohatu has also tickled my fancy. Not sure about the Protectors though... and Skull Krata is honestly really unappealing to me.

Ok, so this thread has exploded... So I don't quite know how or where to interject here :P However, I'm looking at the Protectors... And there's a ballcup at the neck, looking a lot like the single socket piece the CCBS has. Could this mean a new torso bone, to accommodate a Metru-style head? I mean, looking at the protectors, there is also some funky stuff going on behind their masks - funky stuff I for one do not recognise. And, looking at Pohatu, Lewa and Onua, I spy mechanism-type-stuff. There's a black gear in Lewa's armpit, and I can see a grey bushel in Pohatu's - and I'm sure we've discussed Onua's gearedness by now. Is it safe to assume that we're seeing mechanisms, or some other feature? And if so, how are such things being accommodated? I don't see much hint of the shoulder balls of the current torso bones being used. A fair point, but that being said, the injection points on things like armour shells, weapons and armour addons are very obscured - sometimes not even visible.

Now don't you talk shtick about the Hydruka. Firstly, they were a good way to get a taster of the Barraki armour parts from Kalmah and Takadox. Secondly, having more Rahkshi heads is not to be sniffed at. And thirdly, they're adorable.

That is a brilliant design, and seams very plausible! And yes, the gender topic... Does that really have to keep reoccurring?

I'm looking at the new mask. That dark spot above the 'mouth' area... Looks kind of like an injection hole, like we saw on so many Kanohi in the past. Could it mean that this is actually a mask, and not a helmet? I sure as h*ck hope so.

Question regarding Ben 10 Humungousaur
Logan McOwen replied to Takanuinuva's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Oh boy, now I regret not buying Humungousaur even more. -
This. This this this. I mean, just look at the Heroes of the Breakout and Brain Attack waves. Look at the Battle Machines in IFB. Look at the Chima ultrabuilds. Samey? I think not.

...Why's nobody talking about the hugeass Tahu at the top of the display? His shoulder gives us a very good inkling as to how the new armour piece looks! Wait... What's that standing by the Suva? Don't recognise it... A prototype '03 Matoran? EDIT: Time is hard

Favorite Bionicle (or any constraction figure) Titan?
Logan McOwen replied to TheGreatSpirit's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I'm gonna go with the favourites of the ones I have owned for this. Bionicle: Hero Factory: Close runners up: Rocka XL, Nocturn, Takanuva, Jaller and Gucko, and Krekka. -
I'd say Tahu for sentimental reasons. He was the first Bionicle set I owned, after all.
