  1. I love it! Can't wait to see what the two of you put together, sounds promising just with the builders involved, but this adds some more drama
  2. Is that today and tomorrow? I am in Michigan, fairly close, but if it's this weekend I will not be able to swing over. I need to pay better attention to these things so I can attend some!
  3. I tell you, Loreos is lucky to have you over there. I loved these builds in those challenges, and they definitely fit here as well. I will give you +1 to all UoP credits, except for the siege one. I am not denying credit....just thinking on it a bit more before granting it. I'm just not convinced of a siege, more of an infiltration here. But, like I said, I'll think on it for a bit.
  4. That about sums it up.....I have no idea why people think GoH is confusing???
  5. I saw this build earlier today on my phone....and it looked pretty good. Now that I am on my desktop monitor, there really is a lot to love here. I really like the creative approach you took to putting the window frames upside down under the slopes. I think that adds some good 'greebling'(if we can use that in castle) or decor to the build in a unique way. My one criticism would be the mottling on the cross section. It doesn't look bad, but we can see light through it so it doesn't feel solid. Also seems almost too symmetrical or patterned. The one person who I have seen do this great is Gideon. Check out some of his builds for reference. Now, that being said I have never even attempted to do that technique, so I am speaking from no experience at all, and I may be way of base. Good choice
  6. So, first of all Welcome to GoH! We definitely encourage novice builders here in Historica! For an example: I built this as my first build out of the dark ages. About 7 weeks later I joined GoH, and the builds from the people here, along with the advice and constructive criticism have helped me tremendously in my efforts as a builder. Every build I create is better than the last. I totally attribute that to this community that I was lucky enough to find here. So, build away, enjoy the sights and have fun!
  7. Well, since you are in Garheim with me over on LoR, maybe you should stick with me in Kaliphlin here. You know, just to make sure you feel welcome and all ;)
  8. Wow, that is awesome! I can only imagine the damage to the wallet!
  9. this looks fantastic! I really love the first pic with the fog
  10. Left off of the Avalonian list was the mandate that all Avalonian men wear green spandex tights, and be adept ballet dancers. For reference, see Robin Hood:Men in Tights. Glad I could find that error before too many people read this :)
  11. So, just to clarify.....in the rules it list no clone brands, only real lego. in the past we have been able to use altbricks, brickarms, brickforge, etc. Are those diallowed this time, or can we use those in this challenge?
  12. Very cool start to the challenge! I see I am not the only one who wonders, what does the fox say?
  13. Sounds good, in case it makes any difference I was going to use the ship as part of a larger Moc, but just wanted to know if the ship itself could count in the gnar challenge if I posted that by itself without the accompanying moc. Sounds like a no, so I will just stick with the challenge 2 entry and skip the gnar challenge then.
  14. Just a quick clarification question here....if I build a ship for the Kaliphlin/Mitgardia naval arms race, can I post it to that and use it in my unrestricted naval entry for Challenge 2, assuming I'm on the DeGothia side?
  15. This is absolutely amazing! I would give you UoP credits, but you've already got enough. I still cannot get a ship I like, so the rest of Kaliphlin is doing a great job of building this navy!
  16. Great build Gideon! I also give the +1 on all UoP Claims. I am very jealous of the amount of brown Lego plant stems you have!
  17. Awesome work Simon! This is dead on for that contest, good luck!
  18. I think the rockwork looks fine. There is enough variation to look natural, then the symmetry of the black structure in the middle adds some sinister appearance to the MOC. Nocturnus would be very happy to have you I am sure!
  19. Just a bit of clarification here....I am assuming that like in the Nocturnus challenge, we can depict our character from Kaliphlin(in my case) in aid of the Avalonian group that we are assigned to. We do not need to have an Avalonian character...but can if we choose? Is that correct?
  20. I'm sorry to hear that NM....my thoughts and prayers are with you. Yes, it was me with the kidney stones. Definitely painful, and I too have given up soft drinks. It's been 2 months....and I still want to drink some! I used to drink about 3 liters a day. That was definitely my problem, as that was way too unhealthy
  21. Wow...that is awesome! The snail is absolutely perfect
  22. I'm here...and definitely participating. The lull between challenge 1 and this seemed so long, I just played around with other things as well
  23. Cool, thanks for the honest critique. I think a big part is that I ran out of yellow and used the neon yellow. It looks like crap, especially in the pic! But, I will play around a bit with the symmetry too and see if it helps.
  24. For anyone that lives near a Meijer(Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky) they have a program called Mperks that you can sign up for free. It gives you the ability to clip coupons just for you. Right now through 4/26 they have coupons for 20% off Council of Elrond, Dol Guldur Ambush and Dol Guldur Battle, An Unexpected Gathering and Laketown Chase. The Council of Elrond is also on a Price Cut to $24.99, so with the 20$ off it comes to $20. Also, they have loaded in there 10% off most of the new Ninjago sets, and 20% off most of the new Chima sets.
