Hello everyone, Isn't this a pleasant surprise? Well, it came as an unexpected surprise that I am given the honour to share with you my new review for the LEGO Minecraft Theme. Special thanks to Eurobricks and The LEGO Group (TLG) for making this possible. Minecraft is a game of about breaking and placing textured blocks and people built structures to protect against nocturnal monsters, oh well it's something of that sort. TLG have done two full waves of LEGO Minecraft Theme since 2014. Between LEGO and Minecraft, there is a strong co-relation between both since the primary approach is all about building imaginative stuff. I may not be a professional expert on the world of Minecraft and I may quote or reference things wrongly which lack of insightful knowledge but I will do my best to make sure it will be relevant to you. I would also like to apologies in advance and I hope it will be an useful reference for the Eurobricks Community. Name: 21120 The Snow Hideout Theme: LEGO System / Minecraft Year: 2015 Pieces: 327 Minifigs: 3 minifigures equivalent Price: USD $39.99, GBP 39.99, EURO 39.99, SGD $74.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 21120 The Snow Hideout Back view of the original box image of the 21120 The Snow Hideout The new Snow Hideout in the world of Minecraft I am really pleased that I am given this rare opportunity to sample a LEGO Minecraft set and among the four new releases, the Snow Hideout was my lucky pick which I am glad it was. First of all, I enjoyed constructing a building and this snow hideout served the right purpose. Snow does not come naturally in the world of Minecraft and it is similar to the concept of biome and in this case snowy biome. Quoting from Minecraft Wiki, biomes are regions in a Minecraft world with varying geographical features, flora, heights, temperatures, humidity ratings, and sky and foliage colors. Biomes separate every generated world into different environments, paralleling the real world; examples of biomes include the forest, jungle, desert and ice plains. Thus, in this case the main player would most likely need to build a sustainable hideout or structure to survive through the night. This set is an iconic scene of what a player need to build to continue the game. I will try to re-phrase slightly to allow you to understand better of the game play. As your first day begins, you will need to collect wood. Use this to make a crafting table. Your first tool should be an axe, which makes collecting wood a lot faster. Then make a wooden pickaxe to dig a small stairway into the ground to collect enough cobblestone to make a full set of stone tools and a furnace. Then, make a shelter or if available, stay in a village. After that put down your crafting table and furnace and smelt some wood into charcoal, and make some torches with that. You could use coal for torches. You can also avoid dealing with hostile mobs by building a bed. Three wool and three planks make a bed. You'll need to kill three sheep or shear the wool from them with shears. Instead of building a home, you simply put down the bed and go to sleep at sunset. Skipping night like this prevents most hostile mobs from spawning above-ground. For night, the primary danger will be monsters. It is a good idea to stay in your lit shelter. If you don't have full iron armor and a sword, do not try to engage any monsters. One way to avoid being attacked by monsters is to put torches, glowstone, or a jack-o-lantern by your house. The content of the sealed box The sealed box comes with four mint packs and a 16x16 white plate. The four mint packs are numbered and printed from one to two in dual quantity, an instruction manual to guide the builder to build up the set and it also promote building your own creations. Within the instruction manual, you are able to see a sneak preview of a welcome note from Minecraft creators and the full range of the LEGO Minecraft sets. After building the set, these are the remaining spare parts for packet 1 and packet 2 even though I am quite sure the 2x2 jumper plate should be somewhere in the set which I have not figured out. The full characters in this Minecraft set These are not your usual LEGO minifigures which you could normally find in regular LEGO sets. However, these characters are specially produced for fans of Minecraft and they are able to relate to them closely. Firstly, we get Steve and is also known as the 'Player'. The Player is the character that users control in Minecraft and is also part of the two default skins typically known as Steve and Alex. Based on the LEGO character design, Steve has dark brown hair, purple eyes, with a light blue shirt and a pair of purple jeans. You can see back view of the blockish looking of Steve headpiece. Steve is a very common character and have appeared in these LEGO sets so far. He is pretty much the hero like Indiana Jones, Prince Dastan equivalent. Secondly, we get the Creeper. They are a bunch of wandering mobs that are awaiting to ambush and explode onto player or structures unknowingly. They are indeed destructive and if you ever can notice these Creepers from afar, it is always best to steer clear from them. If you ever need to kill them, it is advised to do it from a distance. You can see the distinct side view as the entire body frame except the head is made up of a single piece. So far, the Creeper can be found in three sets including this. Lastly, we get the exclusive Snow Golem. My first impression of the Snow Golem thinking that it was a hostile character especially after seeing it in action from the box art. After much reading, I came to realise that they are essential defensive creations. Snow Golems are the game's first utility mob. They are friendly to their creator. Snow Golems are created using pumpkins and snow blocks, and will throw snowballs at enemy mobs such as Creeper. In this case, the Snow Golem is placed at the top of the snow hideout. Hello Steve! Superb great bricks for your own collection Well from what I can see so far, Minecraft is primarily made up of blocks and blocks. Thus, it relies plentiful of LEGO system traditional bricks like a 1x2 and 2x2 bricks for example. What really impressed me was the decent assortment of translucent coloured bricks which are extremely amazing with the glittering dark green, water blue and sky blue bricks. The masonic bricks are equally useful for laying texture at the wall. The 2x2 flat tiles are welcoming too. The amount of bricks are not exactly the full listing which I refer in this category, but I managed to just laid these few which excite me the most. I am very pleased that Minecraft contain zero stickers and in order to make it possible, it made these parts into printed pieces which is meant for Minecraft usage and building purpose such as chest and snow golem. Minecraft essential tools The wooden shovel can be used to ease the process of collecting dirt and other blocks and the wooden pickaxe is used to mine ores and many other types of blocks similar to this example. Both tools are the same as featured in the game play which will make Minecraft fans happy about it. I supposed the pail is to gather water. I can't be certain on the exact usage. The entire building content for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 includes the three minifigures mentioned earlier, a snowy block looking tree, icy river stream and snow hideout roof top. The built for these parts are mainly made up of 2x2 bricks as their building foundation. It even manage to incorporate minerals in the icy river stream. Let's hope Steve is able to discover those coal and get it into his snow hideout. The entire building content for Packet 2 The completed built of Packet 2 The completed built for Packet 2 laid the snow hideout structure in place. You can place the snow hideout roof top to make the entire structure complete. Within the interior, it seem there is a fireplace or a furnace which I am not exactly sure of is actual representation. The other side of it show the actual placement of the chest. The wooden door was a nice touch to make the house feel warm and cozy to some extend. The door can actually open and close freely. The torch can be found placed close to the green tree. The completed built of the snow hideout By putting the completed built of both packets, you get the nice snow hideout. There is a trap in-place which could cripple an unsuspecting creeper to fall into an ambush. You can also open and close up the snow hideout to expand the size of the front of the building to increase its playability together with lifting up the rooftop as well. Lifting the roof top of the snow hideout Storing his minecraft chest safely The door is in place The icy river stream My very first LEGO Minecraft Set To conclude, I like the way how this set is being designed by bringing and integrating the concept of Minecraft and LEGO together. I could see a strong co-relations between both with building blocks as a common catalyst. Although I have never played the game before but after I built the set finish, I am quite tempted to get myself into this new gaming experience. As for the LEGO design for this snow hideout, I think it is an average looking set but with a full set up of the hideout which allow the player to survive better in the suffering cold. It is appealing in its own manner and I am pleased that I am able to build and review this set. Summary review Playability: 6/10 (Average playing with the activation of trap and snow golem addition.) Design: 6/10 (Block looking design but stay very true to the Minecraft concept.) Price: 5/10 (Price is on the high side especially after considering parts per price ratio.) Overall: 5.7/10 (Get this set if you are a huge fan of LEGO Minecraft and the game itself.) I gave it a "3" based on my Review Score Card. What about you? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.

Hi Phoxtane, thank you for your interest and I will be addressing your questions. There are times where 'old' and 'vintage' sets are built and wanted to be review as it is. In my opinion, I would think is fine for you to do so for your first two reviews as it will not require you to show the process of building it if you are able to generally relate your building experience, as per said. I do understand the time constrain on this aspect, alternatively you can save the unopened sets for latter reviews. I don't think that should be a reason to deter you as we welcome all sort of set reviews as long you are able to justify for it. There is no time limit or restriction imposed. Take as much as you like. We had seen WIP reviews for more than a year, so why not. Nowadays, the quality of mobile phone for camera function seem to be better but not completely as good as a full pledged digital camera. Which is, if you think you can pull of your images from your mobile phone and improve it on Photoshop software like a good quality output similar to a digital camera, then I don't see why I would restrict you if the quality difference is not huge. Sometimes, with external factors like lighting would also affect digital camera, so they are many other factors as well. Yes, the image resolution is high and when you are editing the image, I would expect you to resize to 800x600 range. Just don't lose the focal point and the clarity of the content. I think it will suffice. As mentioned, there is no time limit imposed and it will take quite awhile for you to pass through each review. Let me know if you still keen to sign up. Thank you. -

6086-X Return to the Black Knight's Castle
WhiteFang replied to Dubbadgrim's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Amazing work! The Black Knights Castle is one of the most iconic castle of all times and you have managed to render it into such an incredible modern looking design and yet able to retain the classic charm. Got to admit that the landscape detail is an additional nice touch and the exterior is equally recognisable. -
Nicely done review. It's good to see all three different designs and from your presentation, I reckon the robot version to be the best looking design. I am not really fond of the other two, but this robot is certainly pleasing especially when you are able to contrast it with the Buzz Construct a Mech.

REVIEW: 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks guys for your thoughts and comments. Certainly for that pricing in UK, it is definitely a good deal. Lyichir, it is interesting to hear your take between the both sets. I have both of this but just that I have not built to compare. You are right. The 8635 Mobile Command Center is a classic take to this ultimate transformation of vehicle to a base. I could said both have their own individual appeals. Well, I am now urging to look for my mint box and build it up, just to experience the actual fun and differences. -
Topic moved. Thanks. WhiteFang

Hi IronFish, Your picture is too big. I have removed the deeplink and changed it to a hyperlink. You may refer to our tutorials for resizing. Thanks. WhiteFang -
Thanks for the review. I am totally in love with this battle pack. It is a great way to amass Stormtroopers without dividing into factions or ranks. All four minifigures are just stormtroopers. I think this is perfect even though is targeted for SW Rebels.
-
Thank you for taking your time to share this review, especially to fill the gap for our review. I don't really like this set very much especially when there is only one minifigure at full retail price. I am not including those droids as minifigures. The only thing which I think is a good improvement is the usage of the new missile shooters instead of using flick missiles. But there is really very little reason for me to buy this set as it is. Really appreciate the good job done on this review.

Hello everyone, I am excited to share with you my new review for the LEGO Ultra Agents Theme. Ultra Agents are part of a fun filled action packed adventure. I have not done any Agents reviews before and it has always been my wish to do such a reviewing project. By now, you should be aware that the LEGO Agents Theme is solely conceptualised and developed by The LEGO Group (TLG). It first appeared in 2002 and was available till 2005 under LEGO Alpha Team. From 2008 to 2009, it evolved into a full fledged LEGO Agents Theme before it took a hiatus and came back full swing and was re-modeled as the new ongoing LEGO Ultra Agents from 2014 to 2015. For this review, we will be looking at this exciting vehicular truck trailer known as the 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ. Name: 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ Theme: LEGO System / Agents / Ultra Agents Year: 2014 Pieces: 1060 Minifigs: 5 minifigures Price: USD $99.99, GBP 79.99, EURO 99.99, SGD $179.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ Back view of the original box image of the 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ Different side view of the original box image (1) Different side view of the original box image (2) Different side view of the original box image (3) This is the elusive Ultra Agents Mission Headquarters I was elated to own and build this set even though it took me quite a while to finish building, i.e. approximately three to four hours worth of non-stop building. This is the largest set of the LEGO Ultra Agents Theme in 2014. I am fond of the black and transparent blue glass combination which is kind of suitable for covert operations. Well, I was quite attracted to the design of this set as it reminded me of the 1980s M.A.S.K cartoon. The 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ is the second similar release of a vehicular truck trailer and is also based on the first 8635 Mobile Command Centre. Between the two sets with different primary colour schemes, both have their own unique capabilities of dealing with different threats such as Dr Inferno and Terabyte and yet they have similar functions such as hi-tech prison cell, small launch vehicles and defending mechanisms. You may notice that the 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ has evolved into a much hi-tech operating environment as they are now dealing with more dangerous and sophisticated villains. The content of the sealed box The sealed box comes with seven mint packs and eight black tires. The seven mint packs are numbered and printed from one to seven, a dreaded sticker sheet and two instruction manuals to guide the builder to build up the set. The instruction manuals are packaged in a sealed plastic together with the dreaded sticker sheet and paper cardboard to support the manuals from being crumpled so easily. After building the set, these are the remaining generous spare parts which are spread across the packs. You can view the spare parts for packet 1 including an orange brick separator, packet 2, packet 3, packet 4, packet 5, 6 and packet 7. This set also encourage the builders to download the free LEGO Ultra Agents application for the ultimate digital experience, i.e. you can use the official set to interact with the application by enable yourself to become the agent for added value fun. To be honest, I haven't messed around with the application but I heard it somehow could tell or construct a story plot of some kind. The full minifigures range in this action packed set In the next few sections below, we will look at LEGO minifigures that come with this set. You will get five minifigures with individual character personality and one of which is the main villain of this set. Before I show you the minifigures in greater details, you may take a quick glance to view the back view of the full minifigures range in this action packed set. Do note, these minifigures are placed in different allocated packs. Terabyte, Agent Curtis Bolt and Agent Caila Phoenix Upon opening the first packet, I was actually sorting out the minfigures parts and to my surprise I am able to assemble three minifigures at one go. The minifigures are Terabyte, Agent Curtis Bolt and Agent Calla Phoenix respectively. The sole villain in this set is known as Terabyte. He is a highly intelligent computer savvy person whom has gone down the wrong path and is very capable of hacking and causing chaos to the city’s computer systems. He wears a black jacket with neon similar lime green tee-shirt which features a computer virus illustration at the front, while the back reveal wordings like "BAD 2 THE CODE". A mixed message which can be seen from their back view of these three minifigures. Through his side view, Terabyte wears a sophisticated looking headgear equipped with a cyber hacking blaster that contain a printed keyboard tile at the side. It appears that it has some sort of destructive function that could modify the source code at his whim. The first character of the good side which we are introducing is Agent Curtis Bolt. He is the de facto technological inventor in the Ultra Agents Team. He is clever and tech-savvy. If any of the agents' equipment or devices is broken, he can rectify and fix it and even probably add in a couple more value added features into it. Although Agent Bolt appears in other sets like the 70163 Toxikita's Toxic Meltdown and 70168 Drillex Diamond Job, his outfit in this set is unique. He is donned in the black suit attire and is equipped with a high zoom calibrate goggles. The second character from the good side which we have is the femme fatale Agent Caila Phoenix in the typical Series 1 Nurse hairstyle in a much striking appearance. She is a martial art combatant and a demolitions expert. Her flair for both combined with a fiery temper has made her a valuable asset in the team configuration, well 'most' of the time. Similar to Agent Curtis Bolt above, she only appears once in this particular attire. Other than this set, Agent Caila Phoenix is also seen in 70164 Hurricane Heist and 70170 UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter. In this set, we see her in action with the jetpack. It looks easy to operate as what she has prepared and willing to demostrate in this jetpack even though I am not sure of its operating stability upon activation. Agent Solomon Blaze The next character which we are getting from the third packet, is the Ultra Agents' leader, Agent Solomon Blaze. He has a very interesting background. His name sounds familiar and I found out that he has actually appeared in the Galaxy Squad and he is the leader of the Blue Squad (as seen in the left side of the picture). As you have seen in both pictures, Agent Solomon Blaze is much younger when he was leading the Blue Squad and that happened during the space futuristic era and I thought this current set happened in a time where Galaxy Squad had not exist yet. Instead, this Agent Solomon Blaze who is much older and wiser now, make the whole story plot appears that it happened right after Galaxy Squad era and now he is in the hi-technology metropolitan Astor City environment. Not sure if it is intentional but I thought this is an interesting fact to know. Under LEGO.com, his short bio only mentioned, "The former pilot and wing commander Solomon Blaze, was cherry-picked to head the Ultra Agents. His unfaltering determination inspires courage on the ground as it did in the air. After all, leadership is leadership." Like the rest of the minifigures, he also appeared with dual emotion. Unlike the other agents, Agent Solomon Blaze appeared in the same outfit and design in another two sets and they are 70162 Infearno Interception and 70170 UltraCopter vs. AntiMatter. Professor Christina Hydron Let's bring you to the last of the minifigures which is also coincidentally found in the last packet and is none other than Professor Christina Hydron. She is the only exclusive minifigure in this biggest set of the LEGO Ultra Agents 2014. Professor Christina Hydron render back-end support with her core competency in laboratory analysis and deducing clues given by the agents during field operations. Her job in the laboratory enables the agents to solve important cases by following up on leads resulting in major breakthroughs. Although she will be wearing safety goggles most of the time, but from time to time, she does remove it off as you can see almost all of her facial features. The entire building content for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 includes the three minifigures mentioned earlier, Terabyte’s mech and hidden flyer which are meant to be a form of appetizer before beginning the actual built of the starry set. The Ultra Agents have created the autonomous hidden flyer to provide tracking of targets remotely such as this positive demostration. The hidden flyer is equipped with dual cannons and does not allow any passenger to take position from the inside. In the later section of the review, we will see the location of where the hidden flyer is kept. Now let's look at the main focus of this packet which contains the various playabilities that the yet-to-built mech can provide. The completed built of Terabyte's mech The finished mech is controlled by Terabyte. I suspect it is autonomous to some extent since he is a genius hacker and probably set it to automatic mode from his mech's control panel if required. Both mechanical arms are designed to be equipped with nasty features that could really harm the Ultra Agents. The left arm contains a huge metal looking spinning claw by turning the small rod. It is able to grab any agents that obstructs him. While the right arm contains a destructive hacking bomb ball shooter. You are able to shoot and release the hacking bomb ball by activating in such a manner. The back of the mech reveals the ability to deploy a detachable surveillance drone. Agent Curtis Bolt is trying to take down Terabyte The entire building content for Packet 2 The completed built for Packet 2 The completed built for this packet shows the finished foundation base of the truck driver's cabin. It encompasses various bricks and technic parts to form its base and dimensions. The entire building content for Packet 3 The completed built for Packet 3 This packet and the earlier packet combined to complete the construction of the stunning truck driver's cabin. The overall anesthetics design is very appealing due to the appropriate usage of black bricks and transparent blue parts on the cabin , wheels and headlight together, as seen in the front view, bottom view and side view. The driver's cabin also contains some good playable features. By opening up the rooftop of the driver's cabin, you can place the driver to control the movement of the entire vehicle. In this case, Agent Solomon Blaze is the suitable candidate. The newly reactive missile shooters are integrated with the design and it can be launched at the front of the truck driver's cabin by moving the shooting mechanism to launch both missiles simultaneously. The back of the driver's cabin reveal the actual placement of the hidden flyer. It can be easily launched by pulling it upwards and off it goes to hunt for the target. For your information, the hidden flyer wings can be adjusted. The entire building content for Packet 4 The completed built for Packet 4 The finished built from the fourth packet reveals the foundation of the Ultra Agents Mission HQ truck trailer. It forms the base of the headquarters and some of the essential facilities is also being added on. The entire building content for Packet 5 The entire building content for Packet 6 The completed built for Packet 5 and 6 Both packet 5 and 6 focus on the building of the sides of truck trailer to form the entire truck trailer mainframe. Each packet form one side of the trailer side and by flipping to the other side, it reveals the exterior side of the truck trailer. The corners of the exterior side enables the flaps to adjust and enclose itself partially. Putting both sides of the trailer exterior together The entire building content for Packet 7 The completed built for Packet 7 By putting in the last touch in this final packet, voila! You will be appreciative of the complete functional working Mission Headquarters for the Ultra Agents to carry out their operatives through the usage of the laboratory, prison cell and mini buggy. All of these are shown in greater details below. Take a moment and close up all of the action in the Mission HQ. Just admire the fine design of the completed built of the truck trailer. Through various vantage points, the truck trailer can be seen in greater details from the top view which includes the satellite dish, bottom view which includes the trailer stopper, front view and back view. After opening the back doors, you can take a quick glimpse inside and you will see it is pretty packed to the brim. Alternatively, you can also open the top cover to reveal the aerial view of the inside of the truck trailer being in stasis mode. As mentioned, some of the key playabilities in this set include the quick deployment of the buggy with just a simple push. The Mission HQ contains a jetpack hoist to alleviate the suit up process. The computer laboratory is an useful place for the Professor Christina Hydron to work and analyse the critical clues. The computer mainframe is the crucial equipment which is supported by the satellite dish. The agent will upload the mission briefing materials onto the laptop and assigned agents will be sitting down in the briefing area to view the large screen which contains the mission brief. Last but not least, when the mission is successful, you will see the deserving villain being locked up in the prison cell. The completed built of the entire 70165 Ultra Agents Mission HQ There is a huge mech blocking in the front Let's distract Terabyte Terabyte is on the loose The full action packed transformation set up To conclude, I like the design of this set and I applaud the designer for being able to integrate the great playing features into the trailer. When I opened it up, I had the feeling of opening up a pop-up book. I like the cool colour scheme which makes the whole Ultra Agents look so united under their corporate colour. More importantly, it is fun to play this set on its own without owning other sets in this theme to enhance the experience. However, I have not built my 8635 Mobile Command Centre but I will love to put them side by side in the future. Not sure which will fare well and this is why I am seeking Eurobricks Community on their preference between both sets. All in all, I have a positive experience building and playing with the flagship set of the Ultra Agents 2014. Summary review Playability: 8/10 (Plentiful fun playing features which could integrate with your own story plot.) Design: 8/10 (Excellent design work and choice of colour scheme to represent the secret operating mobile headquarters.) Price: 8/10 (Price is a bit high but still cheaper than LEGO licensed sets.) Overall: 8/10 (Get this set if you are a huge fan of LEGO Action Themes and fan of transforming truck trailer.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about you? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.

I agree with what the rest have commented. It does give a strong feel that is suitable for an official set. I am specially fond of the playing mechanisms like the weapons under the bed. The gate with the watchman is a nice touch too.
