REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you everyone for your comments and thoughts. I have updated another four new images into the review and one of which is my new favourite that reflect the good assortment of the Grim Knight which reflect the Lord of the Rings very well. For Rohan! This is the correct image, An image to reflect the bottom view of Queen, This is the right image, Robert8 has pointed the link to you and yes it can be done. Aww, there is some modern taste to it though. I hope the flag could cheer you up a little. Thank you for your understanding. -

Latest CMF series impact on Historic themes

Yes, it's made up of rubber. -
While on my recent travels in the US, I noticed this set is not doing so well and it seem to be on good discount. It's really good for those who have been hesitating to acquire. Perhaps one of the reason could be the original price tag.

REVIEW: 70751 Temple of Airjitzu
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Just wanted to highlight this awesome LEGO promotion when I happened to see it while I was in the US LEGO Brand Store and it is indeed an incredible promotion. -
Hello everyone, Is everyone excited for the opening of the brand new movie of Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens? This highly anticipated movie is screening worldwide on 17 Decemember 2015. I am truly excited to see the continuation of the Star Wars movie plot and is standing by to watch this movie on the opening screen. Well, I was contemplating for a long time whether to do this review before or after the movie. I decided to do this LEGO pictorial review before watching this movie, giving my take and impression on the LEGO set, rather than associating it with the movie plot. This is to mainly avoid spoilers and I hate spoilers as well. I must apologies in advance if I have ruin any cinematic moments but I will certainly assure you that this review is purely reflected on the actual built and my own thoughts with acceptance references for support. Without any further delay, let's see if this set truly possessed the 'wow' original factor. Name: 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle Theme: LEGO System / Licensed / Star Wars / The Force Awakens Year: 2015 Pieces: 1005 Minifigs: 6 minifigures Price: USD $119.99, GBP 99.99, EURO 119.99, SGD $229.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle Back view of the original box image of the 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle The six awesome LEGO Star Wars characters Kylo Ren is leading the Empire to crush the rebels It has been a great pleasure for me to work on a LEGO pictorial review for the new LEGO Star Wars Episode 7 theme. I am extremely elated and looking forward to it. When the new sets of LEGO Star Wars Episode 7 was first released, I had set my eyes on this 75104 Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. This set particularly interest me very much which I supposed is due to the unique shape and design of the aerial dynamics used. It's also the new villain which is fronted for the movie and he get his own command shuttle. To me, this is a brand new design with nil reference. I didn't want to search on the Internet and get myself faced with spoilers. For a layman like me, this is completely an original new design of a command shuttle which is translated to a LEGO set for Kylo Ren to travel into different planets and pursing rebels together with his officers and soldiers. The content of the sealed box The sealed box comes with 9 mint packs and are numbered from one to seven. Please note that the mint packs for 4 and 5 come with two packs of the same content for building symmetrical components. The instruction manual is packed in a sealed plastic with nil cardboard backing which might lead a possibility of getting the manual in a slight crumpled state. I liked this page of the instruction manual which showcase the new minifigures design in Episode 7. I am also glad to note that there is nil stickers for this set and I will focus more of the building instead of pasting experience. After the set has been built, these are the remaining generous spare parts which is spread across the packs. You can view the spare parts for packet 1 including an orange brick separator, packet 2, packet 3, packet 4, packet 5, packet 6 and packet 7. The full minifigures range for this brand new LEGO Star Wars set Let's look at these minifigures for this second biggest Star Wars Episode 7 set. From left to right, we get General Hux followed by the First Order Stromtrooper Officer that can be identified by the pauldron, First Order Officer that quite look like the old Imperial Officer outfit, Kylo Ren and two First Order Crew that somehow look like the Death Star Troopers. I am impressed with the six minifigures with unique facade and personalities for the Empire. Well,it is not exactly for the Empire as it was defeated by the Rebels in Episode 6. Now, we are introduced to 'First Order' which is a military and political organization that is active approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor. Inspired by the principles of the Galactic Empire, the First Order fought against the Resistance for control of the galaxy. These minifigure are based on the new 'First Order' and the design are derived from their own predecessors for their outfit which can be easily associated with. Upon opening their helmets or hairpieces, you can see detailed facial appearance of the individual minifigures. I am sure you are surprised that the 'First Order Crew' skin tone colour differ from one another which is welcoming to create different crew varieties. However, these minifigures only have singular facial looks. I was hoping for some of the minifigures to have an alternate facial looks such as Kylo Ren and General Hux. I still do not know the true identity of Kylo Ren yet and I know a certain Star Wars 2016 set entitled, 75139 Battle on Takodana, revealed the true face of Kylo Ren. The main character, Kylo Ren is equipped with cool new accessories for the cape and unique unconventional fiery lightsaber that inspired the 'Great Sword'. Furthermore, Kylo Ren also come with a black hood accessory and this is how he looks like in the hooded appearance. The minifigures' torso designs are excellent and beautiful. I love their torso designs very much due to its refreshing looks. All of the six minifigures are featured with detailed back printing. To note, these minifigures are spread across different allocated packs. The various Sith Lords Who else did I miss? I am referencing on those Sith Lords, appearing from Episode 1 to Episode 7. I think I have covered all of them. The only odd one is the Clone Wars version of Count Dooku which I hope to replace a much modern looking version. Evolution of the Stormtrooper Please pardon the poor war-state condition of the Clone Trooper. I am unable to obtain any newer 2008 Clone Trooper as they have kind of suffered under light. I did not put them under direct sunlight though. It is just a simple depict of the three significant milestones for the Stromtrooper evolution. The entire building content for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 The completed built for the first packet shows the completed built of Kylo Ren with the black hood headpiece and First Order Stormtrooper Officer. The parts form the strong foundation of the Command Shuttle's base. The entire building content for Packet 2 The completed built for Packet 2 The completed built for packet 2 showed the continuation of building up the Command Shuttle. The side panels and pilot controls are properly placed and locked for the cockpit. This also include the laying of translucent 1x2 bricks that form the front of the cockpit. The entire building content for Packet 3 The completed built for Packet 3 The completed built for Packet 3 formed and fortify the entire cockpit. At this building stage, the entire built is very firm and structurally integrated. I am actually inspired by the cockpit design and thought it can be well suited to MOC in accordance to Aliens reference as their spaceship. This packet included the minifigure of General Hux. The entire building content for Packet 4 The completed built for Packet 4 The completed built for first of Packet 4 shows the ongoing built for one side of the non-extended wings. These will take two same Packet 4 to make it possible. At this point, the First Order Crew are also assembled. The entire building content for Packet 5 The completed built for Packet 5 Both non-extended wings are forming up and the built will continue to go upwards. The entire building content for Packet 6 The completed built for Packet 6 Both same Packet 6 are built to construct the extended wings on both side which include the trigger mechanism. The entire building content for Packet 7 The Command Shuttle is taking off This is the completed built for the Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle. This is the command ship for the main villain leader, similar to represent as his signature flagship. Likewise, for all other Star Wars command ships such as 8017 Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, 8096 Emperor Palpatine's Shuttle and etc, this design attempt to differentiate from other regular spacecraft that is leading the attack. I am very fond of this design and it appeals to me greatly. The entire built is structurally strong and well integrated. I can just 'swoosh' this around and play with the extended wings mechanism by adjusting from this trigger. You can take a closer look at the technic joints for the extended wings mechanism which enable to extend to the fullest up to 40cm high. It is not as wobble and it able to retain the playability in a tight fitting manner due to the integrated Technic parts to reinforce the moving joints. It kind of make me felt that the extended wing features is meant for the shuttle to commence hyperspace. These are the images of the Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle in full extended wings which can be viewed from the front, side view and back view. Front view of Command Shuttle without the wings fully extended Without the wings fully extended, the Command Shuttle appears to be cruising. The spacecraft is equipped with state-of-the-art advanced weapons like firing shooting missiles and blasters. This is the close up view of the front of the cockpit which enable Kylo Ren to assume flight controls. You may lift the cockpit hatch and view the large seating arrangement for the Command Shuttle. Believe it or not, this entire Command Shuttle can position all six minifigures comfortably in there and that is a huge plus point. I do not have to abandon any characters behind. The rear revealed a storage compartment and you can lift it up to place and position minifigures in there. By flipping it to the bottom, it also reveal a bottom storage bay to allow minifigures to alight from below. These are the images of the Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle in the non-extended wings mode which can be viewed from the side, back view and bottom view. Commandeering the shuttle I will avenge your death Seek out those rebels and destroy them Engaging bounty hunters Destroy the rebellion To conclude, this is a fun 'swooshing' set, accompanied with six celebrated minifigures from the new Episode 7. The design may felt odd to some due to lack of actual reference material. I am eager to watch the movie soon, so I can see how accurate it can be. To be honest, I enjoyed building it and playing with it. I was impressed with overall built and structure. The extended wings mechanism is very fun to play with. I played with it several times and it does not come loose. All in all, I will recommend you to get it. The deterrence could be the hefty price tag. Summary review Playability: 8.5/10 (Fun playability on the extending of wings, shooting missiles and opening of storage bay.) Design: 8.5/10 (Excellent assortment of minifigures and well structured built that enable 'swooshing'.) Price: 6.5/10 (Price is on the high side and will be best if there are some discounts to it.) Overall: 7.8/10 (Join the Dark Side and get this set, if an opportunity arise.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.

REVIEW: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15
WhiteFang replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you everyone for your thoughtful and nice comments. It's certainly encouraging to me to be able to know that this review has served to be useful to most of you. I hope this review will serve as an important LEGO CMFs resource as well. I have updated four new images into the review. I will deeplink those new images in my comment below. Here you go, lego tripper. Hope it helps. Sorry Blakstone, I misread your request. I will redo it for you if an opportunity present itself again. Meanwhile, I hope this alternate image will be of interest to you. Well said, alex54. I shared your sentiments too. Working with white on white is truly challenging and equally annoying. This is the best I could do based on my limited resources. Apologies, I haven't managed to take an image yet. Will do once I have a chance to do so. Nope, the Queen is not the normal 2x4 brick base. It's a 1x2 brick base in the centre and both sides with hollow area. As mentioned by the rest, the height is the same as the regular LEGO minifigure standard leg. The legs are flushed at the same waist. Ohh, I thought that was a new piece. Thanks for letting me know. I am not aware that it appears in Galaxy Squad. Perhaps, I didn't manage to buy any Orange Squad which made me overlooked. Here you go, not sure if this is want you requested, Did you count the 'baby' as the 17th for Series 15? Nice combination indeed, and I think I have misread your request. Sorry. I will work on it. I like that hairpiece very much and I am glad it came in assorted colours in the LEGO CMFs. Yes, she is missing but she is abit different from the rest which kind of made me omitted her. Please note that when others expressed their opinions, you can have your own alternate opinions but it is not polite to state subjective comment such as 'worthless' on groundless basis which add zero value to a discussion. Thanks. -

Thank you so much everyone for your comments and thoughts! It is wonderful to be able to read your sentiments and views on this new Series 15. Well, I need you guys to decide on one choice. It's not necessary and I viewed this distribution ratio in a positive manner regardless of gender. Yes, thank you for pointing out and I have amended to the following, "This is one of the few design attempts to create another different variations from the usual standard minfigure legs." Thanks! I have updated and reflected it correctly. The print is dark green and the vambraces are printed in black on dark metal gray arms. Fully agreed with you. This is one of the best LEGO CMFs Series ever and it give many people a chance to accumulate the buying since Series 13. It slipped out of my mind. Yes, you are right. It is medium azure colour similar to Series 6 Genie. I am very pleased to see the most pereceived popular minifigure to be the most common. It will be interesting to note on how the open market will react to the hunt of the LEGO CMFs. I agreed with you. The prints for the torso and legs seemed to be increasingly complex and the ability to print unique designs on different corners of the minifigure is rather remarkable. I will get back to you with a photo based on your request once I set it up. Do give me time to work on it. Thanks. -

Thank you for your comments and thoughts. Yes, I have already amended it earlier. Thanks for pointing out. Indeed, I suspect is due to the cost of the mold for producing a full scale LEGO animal. Thanks for pointing out. I will adjust the content in the review. -

Awesome review! Really enjoyed reading this review coverage. I am so glad you managed to acquire this set. It will definitely excite many people. I have been buying Disney Princess on and off but I have not managed to buy any Frozen sets yet. I also watched the movie but well is more or less by chance.- 17 replies

Thanks Oky for this fine review. I agreed with your sentiments on the unnecessary rants. I also owned the 2009 version and even though there are minor improvements. There must be a logical reason for its release again but is not entirely the same. I felt is an excellent opportunity for others to acquire this design especially after six years ago. As for myself, I will probably buy this if my spare funds allow me to own this set.

Beautiful Venice. It's like as if we get most of the iconic attractions altogether in one setting. Love the scenic approach and it does make a fine desktop piece on your office table like I could do with my Berlin set as well. Thanks Clonie for this review.
