  4. Hello everyone, Finally, the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 has arrived and I have finally get my act together to finish this long awaited review. Well, it actually arrived much earlier but I was also away for my long holiday vacation which resulted in the delay of my launch of this review. I hope the wait for this review is worthwhile and during the ongoing wait, I noticed the new Series 15 has been pretty elusive and was kept under wrap, until recently we seen good images of these new great minifigure designs. It did not exactly leak out like in previous occasions. Good work to TLG for able to keep the suspense for so long. Before I begin this detailed pictorial review, I would like to give my sincere thanks and deepest appreciation to The LEGO Group (TLG) which include the LEGO CEE and LEGO Collectable Minifigures Design Team for continuing to facilitate and provide me this precious rare opportunity to gain access to this incredible new release which allows me to preview before many others could. It also allows me to have spare time to work, evaluate and review this absolutely amazing LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15. As a Reviewer, this opportunity is indeed a great honour and I am exceptionally thankful for all the support that you guys have rendered. Till this date, I have completed 18 exhaustive LEGO Pictorial reviews including this current review, solely for the coverage of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series / LEGO Minifigures Theme throughout the past five years. No amount of words could explain the excitement that I hold for this continuous reviewing opportunity. I will like to thank Eurobricks Staff/LEGO Ambassador, CopMike and my entire fellow Eurobricks Staffers for being so helpful to this 'WhiteFang' traditional LEGO Collectable Minifigures (CMFs) reviewing endeavour. I am very glad that this ongoing reviewing project is still being continued after passing half a decade. I must also thank my beloved wife, Kim/Belun for being supportive throughout this reviewing period! Otherwise, this review would never happen. It is important to have your family and loved ones to support the stuff that you enjoy doing and it also means doing up LEGO pictorial reviews which is no easy feat. I am truly pleased that I am able to able to continue to share this very special reviewing achievement with all of you. I hope I have not disappointed anyone in this review, if so, I offer my humble apologies and I really hope I can continue to meet your expectations for this exclusive reviewing coverage. Following Eurobricks tradition, let's do a formal re-cap for all of the past Eurobricks Collectable Minifigures polls once more. It started with a humble beginning of Series 1 followed by Series 2 in the year 2010 and it continue to spread like wildfire with another three strong waves of minifigures craze in the year 2011, putting Series 3, Series 4 and Series 5 in an excellent harvesting year. In the year 2012, we celebrated with Series 6, Series 7 and recent Series 8. With the beginning of year 2013, we have the recent Series 9, Series 10 and Series 11. In 2014, we have seen the LEGO Movie Series, The first LEGO Simpsons Series and Series 12. In 2015, we have the Series 13, LEGO Simpsons Series 2 and Series 14. Now in the coming year of 2016, I would like to invite the Eurobricks Community to cast their votes for this new LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 poll statistics as well. Name: 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Theme: LEGO System / Collectable Minifigures / Series 15 Year: 2016 Minifigs: 16 unique minifigures Price for 1 box: USD N.A, GBP N.A, EURO N.A, SGD N.A Price for 1 packet: USD N.A, GBP N.A, EURO N.A, SGD N.A Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An image of an 71011 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 The LEGO Collectable Series 15 main colour schema is pure orange. It resembles the fourth 8804 LEGO Collectable Series 4 colour schema. You could notice the close colour resemblance between both series. I really wonder why did they decide to choose this colour range again? Perhaps, some of the other unused colours might be reserved for other special intended series. [Reference 1] [Reference 2] [Reference 3] [Reference 4] What could possibly lurk within these mysterious sealed packets? The amazing LEGO Minifigures in this incredible new Series 15 The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 is slated for estimated worldwide release on 1st January 2016. This new Series 15 excites me greatly and I am extremely happy to see the return of the true original traditional design of LEGO CMFs. Judging from the release in year 2015, there are three releases and only the first release is based on traditional 16 original design, where the rest are allocated to either licensed such as Simpsons or singular minifigures theme such as Halloween for Series 14. I still can't believe that after so many releases, the LEGO CMFs Design Team are able to continue to surprise us with awesome minifigures despite of numerous releases over the years. This Series 15 is equally capable of able to stand on its own merit and to integrate with the past releases of LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series. I am not exactly sure whats in store for the future of the LEGO Minifigures Theme even though we have wide speculation on the upcoming types for future series. There are no doubt that I hold high regards for the LEGO CMFs Design Team and I believe they will continue to surprise us with great designs in the future releases. IMPORTANT: Please note that the naming for all 16 minifigures that I have use for this review are not official TLG minifigures naming for the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15. Front view comparison with Series 15 and together with all available LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 1 to 14, LEGO Movie, Simpsons 1 and 2 packets I have placed all 18 different minifigures packets excluding the LEGO Team GB packet. I decided not to include the LEGO Team GB packet as I do not consider it as part of the mainstream even though there are others who may feel differently. From the above display image, you can see an impressive transformation of LEGO CMFs Series 1 to the recent LEGO Series 14, and now to the current Series 15. It is so wonderful to be able to see all of them from a top view. The image taken, from this angle seem to be running out of space and I ought to re-position them in future reviews. The LEGO Minifigures Theme is still a force not to be reckoned with and remains a very strong contender in the TLG product range since 2010. The new LEGO CMFs Series is labelled according to the traditional numbering. Do note that the number 15, is now placed at the top right corner of the packet which is the usual placement. At the same time, you may notice the re-introduction of the '16 to collect' description from the packaging. Take a closer look at the following images. This is the front view of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 packet, while this shows the back view of it. This is an image that shows the back view comparison for all of these packets. To the regular readers of my LEGO CMFs review, you probably notice that the following paragraph has been mentioned numerous times, because I personally feel this is the most effective method to acquire the highly sought after minifigures without taking any drastic measures. This is the 'same' golden rule, which has been mentioned in my previous reviews. If you are intending to collect the precious and hard-to-find minifigures, please hone your skills for the touch and feel method. It is an important skill to acquire to locate the minifigures that you want without spending too much money to randomly acquire them, especially so when you are intending to buy large quantities. Your sole mission is to memorise and remember the minifigures assortments for each of the specialised designs. Isolate and identify the most unique accessory or accessories for the particular minifigure. From there, eliminate the torso, head and legs and feel for the other parts. The sole disadvantage of this method is that much time would be wasted if the minifigures that you are looking for have been taken from the box. You might also end up with sore numb thumbs after feeling them. However, I personally feel that this approach is the most practical that works the best for me than any other uncommon approaches. Front view of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 promotional poster Back view of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 promotional poster As you flip to the back of the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 promotional poster, you can view a string of random code printed at the back. This code will unlock a 'certain' mysterious character on the LEGO MMORPG (massively multi-player online role-playing game) at LEGO Minifigures Online by going online together with the game code to access it. However, if you look at the top right hand corner of the promotional poster. You will notice a number 12 which I suspect will unlock 'Kendo Master'. For info, I have not played this game before and I think this will appeal to a much younger generation. I am fond of the additional instruction pamphlet to guide LEGO fans who are not familiar with the fixing of fabric cloth and the placement of wings for the other two minifigures correctly. In this case, the Queen have the white and red robe to put on, the Winged Battle Warrior have the wings and parts to put at the back of the armour and the Winged Mech Warrior as well. It is a simple illustration to make sure you do it correctly. 1) The Farmer Without further ado, let's bring out the first Series 15 minifigure and is none other than our friendly Farmer. I am very happy to see an improved version of this farmer. Few years ago, there was a release of Farm under the LEGO City sub theme and I enjoyed the idea to see a different variant of doing City stuff in the sub-urban areas such as farm environment. The first Farmer of this similar variant came from the 7566 Farmer which was released under the impulse set series. Now, we are able to see this combination again together with the re-introduction of pig. The newer design is a much significant improvement to the earlier predecessor. Thus, I foresee that this minifigure will be highly sought for. Parts assortment The parts assortment for the Farmer is outstanding. The focus for this minifigure is the re-introduction of the pig mould. Although the design of this pig mould is the same as previous inclusion but the key difference is the spot print to create different variants based on the vanilla pig design. The pig is an excellent farm animal and it can be used for either medieval or modern settings. The usage for the pig is tremendous and the fact that is a full scale animal give more plus points for this combination. The Farmer comes with very good parts such as the useful hay-fork and scarecrow wide brim hat equivalent which is far better than the normal cap. He also comes with excellent printing which can be seen from his back view and side view which is very impressive from the torso to the legs with different colour tones. Busy day for the farmers Taking great care of my farm Piggies Party 2) The Astronaut Three cheers for Classic Space! This is a treat for LEGO Classic Space fans. The new Astronaut may have appeared in various variants in past LEGO City Themes such as Space Port but this new design is actually paying homage to Classic Space Astronauts. The design is modern and not futuristic looking and is also adequately equipped with essential kit and gauges to ensure survivability in deep space. We may have seen many different Astronaut designs but this new design is special as we can associate it in modern times. I like how this minifigure is put together and we can just pose the Astronaut marching onto an unknown planet to place his flag. Parts assortment The parts assortment is above average. I like this design very much and the parts are adequate to place the Astronaut for a space mission with his oxygen tank, helmet with golden visor and detailed prints on his torso and legs. The notable accessory is the introduction of the dual printed Classic Space flag. To me, that is a game changer. You don't get a walkie-talkie, detector or some common space kit. You get an actual printed flag where is a very useful part for putting it in your Classic Space collection or even other spaceship to identify from others. Furthermore, the printing from the side view with the Classic Space emblem on one side is truly impressive detail. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. Watching you from afar The mark of the Classic Space Adventure Classic Space Comrades Commander, where do you want to store these cargo? 3) The Grim Knight This is my favourite minifigure and it is the Grim Knight. I know many others address it as 'Scary Knight' but somehow I prefer to name it as the Grim Knight and I took reference from my first Eurobricks Mafia Game - Mystery Castle in 2008. This is an awesome treat for all LEGO Castle fans and army builders. I am excited by this minifigure and this is not your regular castle minifigure in typical red, blue, white and black outfit. Instead, it took the dark green as the colour schema and pretty similar with the Hobbit minifigure character: Dwalin. This new Knight is an excellent customisation parts to be used for fleshie armies or generals due to the lack of yellow neck print. You can easily form a new villain faction known as the 'Silver Bear Army'. I supposed I will have tremendous fun with this minifigure and will be searching high and low for this awesome minifigure. I am bias to this design as I am largely a Castle fan and you can't get a nice villain generic looking character for your playing. Parts assortment The parts assortment for the Grim Knight is outstanding. Based on piece count, TLG is rather generous to include various essentials including a dark green plum. Upon revealing the nice fortified great helmet, you noticed a rather nasty looking appearance of the Grim Knight. The spiked pauldron is a surprising addition. So far, it only appears once in a different colour in the 7569 Desert Attack and I prefer the dark metal gun grey spiked pauldron very much. The Kite Shield is equally amazing as was first introduced in Series 13: Egyptian Warrior. It is very verstaile as it can inverse and designed for different aspect based on this comparison. The newly design spike mace is made up of two different parts and is much better and sturdy looking than the frail looking mace in earlier designs. The printing is very impressive and upon closer inspection from the side view, it revealed armoured vambrace at his arms. There are also back printing which can be observed from his back view. This is truly an outstanding design for LEGO Castle fans. Introducing the other Evil Knight Medieval Castle Fantasy Characters Join the Fright Knights... Clash with WhiteFang... You shall not pass the border Release the princess immediately Well matched design for Rohan Soldiers in the Lord of the Rings 4) The Clumsy Guy We have doctors and nurses in hospital and now there is finally a patient for us to treat. In this case, this is a Clumsy Guy who is rather careless and fell after stepping onto a banana peel. This is what I suspect based on the intriguing design of this tee shirt. This is a pretty good minifigure and fulfill the condition of how an injured patient could probably look like upon injuring his head and leg. It is quite a nice civilian looking minifigure in an injured state and it could easily exchange between parts and sort them into various useful accessories such as the head bandage, injured face and leg in cast. It is quite a comic relief to be able to see this new design and breathe freshness into LEGO City. Parts assortment The parts assortment is above average. The accessories are good especially the accurate design of the new clutches. Those are real awesome support for patients to move about in their injured state. The leg cast print is very funny as well with those 'get well' and funny messages at the front of the leg cast and side of the leg cast. He does look rather pitiful in his injured state and lots of extra attention need to be given to nurse his wounds. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. Please get well soon I supposed you can't join us for Halloween Stay safe and watch out for banana peel 5) The Tribal Woman This is a nice addition to the Tribal Family. I wasn't too excited in the first place with regards to the design as it was a mere tribal civilian to be added. I was mistaken of her role and noted that she was a caring Tribal Woman who look after the young within the tribe. The key highlight for this minifigure is definitely the first LEGO baby in history. This is where the LEGO minfigures look like when they are infant and it is a minifigure breakthrough to see the natural cycle. I have also noted that this is the first female design for the Tribal Family which is pretty nice. Parts assortment The parts assortment is above average and the superb thing is the introduction of the baby. It is very generic looking and can be used for all sorts of LEGO eras in your settings. The LEGO baby can be placed at the back of the mother with this accessory holder. I suspect many people will be fond of this character for the fact of wanting to own that baby. Perhaps, one day we could see this baby appearing in other LEGO official sets in the future. You can view the nice print from the side view. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. Tribal Camp New LEGO Wild West Smile! Little Baby 6) The Winged Battle Warrior This is a real awesome outstanding minifigure. The Winged Battle Warrior is quite a hot favourite among many due to the glittering gold armoured outfit with his soaring majestic wings. This design is suited like a group of well trained winged warrior sent by God or guarding some mythical places. I am extremely fond of the overall armoured pearl gold design which is given a human male warrior appearance. It is an excellent minifigure design which I suspect will be popular among army builders including myself where this will pair well with the search of Grim Knight. In a heartbeat, I probably would amass lots of it to build up an army. I wonder who else is thinking the same way as me. Parts assortment The parts assortment is very good for this Winged Battle Warrior. I like how they made use of the Legends of Chima: Eagle and Phoenix tribes to allow this minifigure to gain aerial capability. This gold winged armour is not a brand new part and it was first used by Fluminox. The wings are matched with the overall colour schema and is fitted well from the clips behind. Upon removing the gold winged armour, you can see the magnificent golden torso with the breastplate design printed. You can view the minifigure from the side view. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. God Warriors Clash of mythical creatures You aren't the only winged warrior Trying out my new flight Your wings look flimsy 7) The Satyr This is certainly will be one of the popular characters in this series. The friendly Satyr is one of the highly anticipated minifigures among the discussion. He is a half male and half goat which exist in the Greek and Roman mythology. It received warm welcome and reception for the introduction of this minifigure design. It is not designed as a warrior but more like a fairy tale character. I am pretty excited about this minifigure as I could modify them accordingly to create new usage for the minifigures variants. Parts assortment The parts assortment is average. It only include a flute for his accessory. However, the main focus could be the Satyr's legs. This is one of the few design attempts to create another different variations from the usual standard minfigure legs. There were lots of hype in this new part and some people are wildly speculating that it could also be part of a certain LEGO Disney character in the future. Time will tell on how true this will be. You can view closer detail of the Satyr from the side view. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. What are you doing alone in the forest? Fairytale Characters You are coming with us I love my new legs 8) The Animal Ranger Next in line, is the introduction of the Animal Ranger. Her role is to focus animal conservation and helping other animals in distress. Do not be mistaken of the large net that she is holding. It is not meant for capturing the animal but merely using it to transport them from one place to another. Thus, this uniformed Animal Ranger is quite a fine design in her green outfit. I supposed this could be quite a popular minifigure among children especially with the brand new skunk. I like the fact that it come with a full scale animal similar to the pig under the Farmer combination. Parts assortment The parts assortment is excellent. I don't recall seeing a large net before and strongly believed is a new accessory. The minifigure came with a brilliant alternate facial appearance which depict her uncomfortable look upon catching the skunk. The introduction of the brand new animal is the highlight to me. The skunk is well molded piece of animal with nice detailed printing that could clearly identified the looks of a skunk instead of a squirrel. It was a nice surprise for me as I noted that there is a printed badge which is similar like a raccoon which is visibly seen at her arm. You can view closer detail of the Animal Ranger from the side view. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. Caring for animals together Finally caught the Skunk Not to worry, things are under control Don't they all look alike? 9) The Janitor The Janitor design is rather spot on and accurate. It is a thankless job and I appreciate the designer to include this nice fellow into this series where we can use it for LEGO City or school setting. It is nice to see such a realistic design based on our day-to-day life. He can maintain the stoic looking bushy appearance despite of the dirt on his dull grey uniform. Though I can't quite make out from the name badge, but I am very sure it is reference to one of the fun facts on the designers. My eyesight is not doing too well which is why I am unable to identify the name of this Janitor. Parts assortment The parts assortment for the Janitor is average. I like the new mop design very much. It is made up of two parts and can be easily put together. This may not be as popular as the rest of the minifigures but I am sure you will definitely need a few Janitors around to keep the place clean. You can view closer detail of the Janitor from the side view. Do note there is no back print as observed from the back view. Thank you for helping to clean the mess Different occupations in LEGO City School is starting soon 10) The Ballerina Little young girls are going to be crazy over this pretty and sweet Ballerina. It's the sweet factor that will appeal to many. Her elegant appearance in her ballet outfit will inspire those who like to take ballet or currently pursuing ballet. This minifigure will make a fine gift. I am confident this is certainly going to be quite receptive. Her outfit can be easily identified as a ballet dancer and I am sure we are able to see LEGO musical boxes with her standing there for performance with surrounding music. Parts assortment The parts assortment is average. There are no visible accessory but the ballerina skirting is a highlight. It is made up of solid ABS plastic and fitted nicely at the legs. The hairdo is filled with glittering flowers which made the design much appealing. You can take a closer look at the side view where you can noticed the leggings printed at the side of the leg. On top of that, there is nice printing of her dress which is visible from the back view. Lovely sweet smiles Watching the ballerina performance Ballerina duet I did a change on my skirt. Do you like it? A beautiful combination together 11) The Winged Mech Warrior LEGO Deep Space has a new Winged Mech Warrior and is much sleek and cooler than their predecessors due to the black, light blue and silver colour combination. I am not quite sure if this minifigure is intend to take on the good or bad side. I had taken the liberty to label this Mech Warrior fighting for the good. This Winged Mech Warrior is a much better design especially with the bright blue wings which has appeared for the first time. Overall, I find this Winged Mech Warrior reminds me of Tron upon removing the armour. I think this is a good idea to use it to design Tron minifigures. Parts assortment The parts assortment is pretty good. I find the parts are very good due to the inclusion of the newly designed mech wings. It has a nice silhouette on the trans-blue design with black lines to outline the shape. The blue blade is definitely from the Ninjago: The Final Battle and is part of Jay's elemental lightning blade. By turning to the back, you can see the dual rods that could enable the trans-blue wings to be placed. You can see the full winged detail from the back view and side view. Mech Robot Warriors Classic Space Defenders To eliminate all impending threats How do I activate this winged mech? 12) The Kendo Master In this series, we get a new sports character and he referred to as the Kendo Master. Kendo is a modern Japanese martial art, which descended from swordsmanship (kenjutsu) and uses bamboo swords and protective armour. Today, it is widely practiced within Japan and many other nations across the world. It is an activity that combines martial arts practices and values with strenuous sport-like physical activity. It is nice to see such a design being seen in a minifigure format. I don't quite like the accuracy of this design though. The helmet is spot on but the uniform look somehow a little bare even though the colour is appropriate. Kendo did appear in LEGO Ninjago at earlier stages and booster pack such as the 9551 Kendo Cole. The mold is the same but this time, it has better colour matching unlike before. I will prefer this Kendo version over the Ninjago version. Parts assortment The parts assortment is average. Apart from the nice helmet, there is nothing much to highlight significantly. The bamboo swords are duplicate of the existing LEGO katanas weapon in a wooden colour. I was hoping for the actual bamboo sword design though. Upon removing the helmet, you can see the stern appearance with his blue sash at his forehead. I will have some use for the head for my Ninja and Samurai collection. You can take a closer look at the side view and back view. Do note there is no printing other than the front. Japan Culture Different LEGO Sports characters We will like to learn Kendo 13) The Shark Suit Guy Three cheers for more costume characters! This will be the minifigure that is buzzing all LEGO fans. I am very confident everyone will be looking for this minifigure and it will be plentiful for everyone to get it. You will understand in the latter part of the review. I am elated that the LEGO costume characters is expanding and encompass different characters. This Shark Suit Guy is suitable for deploying onto aquatic centres, carnivals, parks, etc. Let's not send this Shark Suit Guy to conduct some pranks though. I will expect all sorts of fun and possibilities to mess around with this character. In the future, I look forward to see more new costume characters. Parts assortment The parts assortment is average, but the main focal is the entire design of this shark costume suit. The surprising thing about this character is the inclusion of an alternate facial appearance and he look very fearful of something coming towards him. I wonder what could that be. I also placed the LEGO shark side by side with this character to show the accuracy of this design. The design is nicely articulated with the fins, grills and the arms are real fantastic. You can see detailed view of this marvel costume suit from the side view and back view. Costume Characters assembly Chicken and Shark story Showcase of adorable shark in the aquatic centre This guy is a fitting mascot for our vessel 14) The Wrestling Champion Isn't he looks like the Ultimate Warrior? There are some degree of resemeblance though and it looks more competition for wrestling fans. It is quite a nice variant of a new wrestling character but I am not exactly fond of this. The design stay true to how a professional wrestler will look like and this fellow is the Wrestling Champion as you can see it very clearly that his championship belt indicate his number one. I am sure there are others who liked this minifigure but this does not work well for me. Parts assortment The parts assortment is below average. I recall seeing that pearl gold trophy around and is not exactly a new part either. The hairpiece is pretty ruggard looking and I probably use it for my Barbarians minifigures. The good thing about this design is the all rounded printing on this minifigure which is visible from his side view and back view. Ultimate professional wrestlers The World Wrestling Championship Even boxing is no match for me Meet the barbaric hunks The new war paint for the Highlander 15) The Jewel Thief Ever want to pull a heist with this beautiful Jewel Thief? This is a very well designed female minifigure which emulate a Cat Thief. It's not exactly Catwoman but is the original LEGO Jewel Thief design. I like how the designers put this minifigure into a classy looking lady in her black jumpsuit with the shiny diamond in her hand. I expect this minifigure to be quite receptive as well and I could not mind to get more of these, for the parts. Parts assortment The parts assortment is average and is made up of common parts for the diamond and the rope launcher. I like the overall design including the facial appearance. The hairpiece is the same as Black Widow and I prefer this new black colour instead. There are no printing from the side view and back view. Off to my next heist Did you notice someone familiar? Highly secured display is about to be compromised 16) The Queen This is the last minifigure in Series 15 and it is the gorgeous beautiful Queen. This Queen is a design breakthrough. Never did I expect to see a Queen in this large skirt torso format. I did expect a Queen to accompany the Series 13: King and this new Queen design is a very nice representation. I really wonder if the design of this torso will be for certain LEGO Disney princesses in the near future? I am sure you guys are speculating on this part as well. I rated this minifigure highly in terms of design aspect and I felt this is a highly acclaimed female minifigure and the print is just outstanding. What more can I expect and this has certainly raised the standard of Queen design unlike the regular usage of skirt torso. Parts assortment The parts assortment is outstanding, especially with the royal fabric cloth which was used in the King in Series 13. It is meant to complement and match one another. The one-piece newly design minifigure wide skirt is just amazing. I can simply imagine how nice it could fit in future designs. Not to fret, this minifigure is the most easiest to locate due to the big one-piece minifigure wide skirt. The hairpiece allow the Queen crown to place nicely on top of it. You can view the nice details from the back view and side view. This is a side view of the Queen without the royal cap and this is the bottom view which you can take a careful look of the clutch design. The King and Queen The new LEGO Medieval Empire The army is ready for departure My queen, we are taking a break here Which is a better looking Queen? General Statistics for 71011 LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 Below is the combination which I have received from my box, 3 Farmers 4 Astronauts 4 Grim Knights 5 Clumsy Guys 3 Tribal Women 4 Winged Battle Warriors 4 Satyrs 3 Animal Rangers 4 Janitors 3 Ballerinas 3 Winged Mech Warriors 5 Kendo Masters 5 Shark Suit Guys 4 Wrestling Champions 3 Jewel Thieves 3 Queens Based on the above distribution, I have managed to achieve only three full complete sets of 16 one-of-a kind minifigures each. It means I will have 12 spares left. Read below to find out what are the remaining spares I have. My remaining spares 0 Farmers 1 Astronauts 1 Grim Knights 2 Clumsy Guys 0 Tribal Women 1 Winged Battle Warriors 1 Satyrs 0 Animal Rangers 1 Janitors 0 Ballerinas 0 Winged Mech Warriors 2 Kendo Masters 2 Shark Suit Guys 1 Wrestling Champions 0 Jewel Thieves 0 Queens Data Analysis Given the above data which I have compiled and received, I have indicated my comprehensive analysis based on my individual viewpoint. By buying one full complete MISB box, it will allow you to achieve three complete sets. Ever since the significant shift of the distribution ratio in LEGO Minifigures - The Simpsons, TLG has return to the LEGO consumers the traditional three complete sets. The ongoing LEGO CMFs Series 15 has continued with this desirable ratio of having three full sets in a sealed box of 60. I am extremely pleased with this outcome. I feel the appeals of these minifigures have achieved a brand new desriable level despite the restrictions and limitations which the LEGO CMFs Design Team has to work with. The LEGO CMFs Design Team's best judgement is based on the support of market research data and probably parts per piece count manufacturing process in order to determine the distribution ratio. As you have noticed from the given distribution ratio, the minifigures which we normally need to obtain just a few are given the distribution ratio of three such as the Ballerina, Jewel Thief and Queen. While Animal Ranger, Farmer are accompanied with a full scale animal and the Tribal Woman is accompanied with a LEGO baby are given in the distribution ratio of three. I was hoping it would be in the count of distribution ratio of four though. I could definitely swap it with Wrestling Champion, Satyr and Janitor over the earlier mentioned minifigures. The Winged Mech Robot is in the range of three as well, but normally space are not in huge demand unlike medieval minifigures. I could be wrong and we will see how receptive these minifigures will be in the open market. I am extremely pleased to note that Grim Knights and Winged Battled Warriors are in a distribution ratio of four. I would love to see them in the range of five though and this will definitely appeal greatly to army builders. I will definitely amass a large number of them whenever possible. The Astronaut is a nice surprise and is quite a balance to put it in the range of four. The remaining minifigure of distribution ratio of five is with Clumsy Guy, Kendo Master and Shark Suit Guy. The biggest game changer is the Shark Suit Guy. I am extremely surprised and elated to note the most popular minifigure as perceived like all other costumed characters like the Series 13 Unicorn Girl and Hot Dog Guy which are very hard to come by or even locating them in the wild. Thus, by putting the most popular perceived character in the distribution ratio of five, it will definitely make lots of LEGO fans very happy. Ultimately, I am extremely satisfied with this distribution arrangement with a slight disappointment of not including any one of the two army building characters under the distribution ratio of five. To conclude and summaries, based on the probability demonstrated by this review, as an example, here are the results, High probability 1) Clumsy Guys 2) Kendo Masters 3) Shark Suit Guys Total range: 25% Each: 8.33% Medium probability 1) Astronauts 2) Grim Knights 3) Winged Battle Warriors 4) Satyrs 5) Janitors 6) Wrestling Champions Total range: 40% Each: 6.67% Low probability 1) Farmers 2) Tribal Women 3) Animal Rangers 4) Ballerinas 5) Winged Mech Warriors 6) Jewel Thieves 7) Queens Total range: 35% Each 5% I am extremely glad to see the return of traditional LEGO Collectable Minifigure Series The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 will be launching on the 1st January 2016 (worldwide) To conclude, the LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 has once again surprised us with another new level of creativity in design. I am very happy to see this original traditional series and not reverting to the licensed or singular series. Traditional LEGO CMFs series appeal widely to masses and I know for certain that TLG is not really intending to focus on the traditional stuff anymore. I could sense there is a shift in their marketing and design approach. I am not exactly sure if this will be good or bad in the long run, but only time will tell if the change in the LEGO CMFs will sustain and continue to appeal to many. It is no easy challenge to be able to create, design and introduce many new creative and original designs to attract to the masses. The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series or known as LEGO Minifigures Theme is an unique commanding class of their own, which distinguish themselves from regular LEGO Theme or special releases. Instead, everything that you have seen in a single released series is all based on the 16 minifigures to reach out to fans, children, adults and collectors of LEGO. It has been a very long tradition and yet they are able to retain the charm and excitement, until today. Now with a total of 289 minifigures released for the entire Series 1 to 14, the recent LEGO Movie Series, LEGO Simpsons Series 1 to 2 and the current LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15, not including Mr. Gold which unfortunately I do not have the blessings or lucky stars to own it till this date, and the special exclusive Toy Soldier and Zombie Skateboarder minifigures that can only be obtained through The Minifigures Character Encyclopedia books respectively. At this rate that it continue to release, I wonder how many of us need to upgrade the display shelving area to accommodate for future expansion. For myself, I don't have the space to display all of them anymore until further notice. With this upcoming LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15, what more exciting new series will TLG have for us. Only time will tell and let's be patient about it. I am confident that it will be worth the wait. Please note that the The LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 15 do not contain the placement of LEGO spare parts/accessories. This was practiced since the start of LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3. Summary review Playability: 9/10 (New and old minifigure designs that can be integrated across many new and existing themes/settings.) Design: 9/10 (Excellent detailed printing with decent new accessories.) Price: 8/10 (I hope pricing will remain the same and not facing any increase for this new Series 15, otherwise it will hurt my wallet badly.) Overall: 8.7/10 (Prepare yourself for this unprecedented new Series 15 and may you can get the ones that you want most! I know for sure what I am going to search for.) I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope everyone of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed. 7. Hello everyone, I am here to share this upcoming latest LEGO Architecture 2016 series. This brand new 21027 Berlin is one of the first LEGO Architecture sets which are specially designed for this coming release in year 2016. LEGO Architecture fans will be in for a treat as the designers from the LEGO Architecture Team has decided to take a slightly different approach unlike before. I am truly glad to be able to be part of the Eurobricks Reviewing Team to be able to review one of the latest LEGO Architecture sets for 2016. It has been quite awhile since I last did an LEGO Architecture Review and it brought back some memories when I was reviewing the 21021 Marina Bay Sands previously. Special thanks to Eurobricks LUG Ambassador, CopMike, LEGO CEE and Architecture Design Team for giving me this opportunity to bring this opportunity to the Eurobricks Community. Without further ado, let me bring all of you to visual tour of micro-setting in Berlin, Germany. Name: 21027 Berlin (Germany) Theme: LEGO Model Making / Architecture Year: 2016 Pieces: 288 Minifigs: Nil Price: USD $29.99, GBP 24.99, EURO 29.99, SGD $59.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 21027 Berlin Back view of the original box image of the 21027 Berlin This is a very nice and compact looking LEGO Architecture box This is a very nice piece of LEGO Architecture art in a different perspective To begin with, this is the first time the LEGO Architecture Design Team has put together various sights, buildings and attraction in a microscale scenic setting in one single display set. The scale of the entire model has scaled down tremendously into a much smaller scale. In less than 300 bricks, you are able to construct six iconic Berlin sights altogether, even though one or two can be quite debatable. The completed built is measured at 255mm (length) and 230mm (height). The choice of Berlin, the Capital of Germany is a pretty interesting choice for a country residing in Europe with long dramatic changing history in their cultural setting. It is nice to see some German past and modern architecture history being highlighted in this context. Berlin is one of the three major cities to be featured in this design. The other two major cities are 21028 New York, United States and 21026 Venice, Italy which are reviewed by our fellow Eurobricks Staff, Bob De Quatre and Clone OPatra respectively. The content of the sealed box By slicing the adhesive sealed labels from the box, you are greeting by this lovely welcome. The sealed box come with four mint un-numbered packs, an instruction manual and a survey request by TLG to share your acquired product experience. After building the set, these are the remaining spare parts. The nicely bind instruction manual is more than just a building manual where it showed the steps to finish the actual product. It is an informative manual with well summarised information on these various attractions. These few images in the instruction manual such as The Berlin Wall, Berlin TV Tower and Brandenburg Gate contain good introductory information on these sight, building and place. The introductory information is written in English and German respectively. I find the manual pretty interesting to read as it contain interesting quotes such as the quote by US President Ronald Reagan said in year 1987 "Mr.Gorbachev, tear down this wall" which refer to the tearing down of the Berlin Wall which divide the country in Western and Eastern sphere of influence. The entire building content for all four mint packs Exclusive printed parts After pouring all of the bricks and mixed them up for the building experience, I will typically identify those elements which is of particularly interesting to me. I will try my best to scope those special printed LEGO elements. In this case, this set contain four exclusive printed elements which comprise of the printed architecture tile entitled 'Berlin'. The other three are illustration of the Berlin Wall which divide the cities that separate from one another and the other piece is placed together with the Brandenburg Gate. Building process - Laying the foundation of Berlin You start the process by laying the foundation of the Berlin by utilising the base of 31 studs across and four to six studs wide. The finished foundation will allow the six iconic sights to place in their significant positioning. The entire perimeter for the outer base layer is surrounded by a mixture of 1x4 and 1x8 black flat tiles. We start by placing the two piece element of the Berlin Wall illustration. Building process - Starting from the left to the right Continue on the building process by placing the completed distinct Reichstag. The Reichstag contain a very rare brick element which is the 1x2 tan brick colour with groove. Till this date, it can only be found in this Minecraft set, 21114 The Farm with just two bricks. We continue the built by working on the Victory Column and Deutsche Bahn Tower to form the central focal of this display. It appears the micro setting of Berlin is forming well. Building process - We are almost near to completion Put in the added touch of the Berlin TV Tower with the very long antenna which form the peak of this scene and you are almost near to complete this fine piece of architecture art. The completed built of Berlin You are finally done with this simple LEGO Architecture built which form Berlin. The Berlin sights is formed by two master architecture icons with the furthest left Reichstag and furthest right Brandenburg Gate as the most stand-out icons. Both icons are rich in historic values, while the central attraction form the modern architecture appeal such as the Deutsche Bahn Tower and Berlin TV Tower. The Berlin Wall and the Victory Column are not very appealing even though it did their best by putting such ornamental attempt. That's the best I could associate but I find it extremely abstract and hardly entice me on this aspect. Although I don't quite understand the two elements to form the Berlin Wall sight, but I do welcome the exclusive printed parts. The nicest thing which I am actually fond of, was both Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. The Reichstag has a nice historic appeal due to the symbolic representation in Germany. It will make a fine LEGO Architecture set if the designers decide to pick this up. Whereas, the Brandenburg Gate has appeared in a LEGO Architecture set in 2011.It has reduced significantly on the scale aspect. All in all, this is much more of a scaling down project to an appropriate LEGO Architecture standards where relative is used considerably to ensure the anesthetic appearance does not degrade the overall design. Well, in short this is like art in the form of LEGO bricks. You may view detailed view on this completed built from this side view, the other side view and back view. Introducing the Berlin Wall and Reichstag Well, let's begin the first iconic sight with The Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was a physical barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989. Constructed by the German Democratic Republic, East Germany, starting on 1961, the wall completely cut off West Berlin from surrounding East Germany and from East Berlin until it was opened in 1989. The demolition officially begun in 1990 and was completed in 1992. The Eastern Bloc claimed that the wall was erected to protect its population from fascist elements conspiring to prevent the "will of the people" in building a socialist state in East Germany. In reality, the wall served to prevent the massive emigration and defection that marked East Germany and the communist Eastern Bloc during the post-World War II period. While the second iconic sight resound with Reichstag. It is a German word which associate to 'Parliament' or 'Diet'. The Reichstag building is a historical site in Berlin, constructed to house the Imperial Diet, of the German Empire. It was opened in 1894 and housed the Diet until 1933, when it was severely damaged in a fire. After World War II, the building fell into dismay. The ruined building was made safe again and partially refurbished in the 1960s, but no attempt at full restoration was made until after German reunification in October 1990, when it underwent a reconstruction led by architect Norman Foster. After its completion in 1999, it once again became the meeting place of the German parliament: the modern Bundestag. Introducing the Victory Column, Deutsche Bahn Tower, Berlin TV Tower and Brandenburg Gate The third iconic sight refer to the Victory Column. It is a monument in Berlin and was designed by Heinrich Strack, after 1864 to commemorate the Prussian victory in the Danish-Prussian War, by the time it was inaugurated in September 1873, Prussia had also defeated Austria in the Austro-Prussian War and France in the Franco-Prussian War, giving the statue a new purpose of a victorious symbol. The miniature mini-statue placed at the top of the column was used to represent the bronze sculpture of 'Victoria'. The fourth iconic sight is the Deutsche Bahn Tower. It belongs to a German railway company. It is also known to be the second-largest transport company in the world, after the German postal and logistics company, DHL, and is the largest railway operator and infrastructure owner in Europe. The building stands on Potsdamer Platz and forms the eastern end of the Sony Center. It has a total height of 103 meters and has 26 floors. The red cheese slope in the design is used to represent the company name. The fifth iconic sight is the Berlin TV Tower, also known as Fernsehturm Berlin. It is a television tower in Berlin, first completed in 1969. The original total height of the tower was 365m, but it rose to 368m after the installation of a new antenna in the 1990s. The Berlin TV Tower is the fourth tallest freestanding structure in Europe, after Moscow's Ostankino Tower, the Kiev TV Tower and the Riga Radio and TV Tower. There is a visitor platform and a revolving restaurant in the middle of the sphere. The visitor platform, also called panoramic floor, is at a height of about 203m above the ground and visibility can reach 42km on a clear day. the last iconic sight is none other than the Brandenburg Gate. It is one of the well known landmarks in Germany. It is built on the site of a former city gate that marked the start of the road from Berlin to the town of Brandenburg an der Havel. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by architect Carl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. Having suffered considerable damage in World War II, the Brandenburg Gate was fully restored from 2000 to 2002. Throughout its existence, the Brandenburg Gate was often a site for major historical events and is today considered a symbol of the tumultuous history of Europe and Germany, but also of European unity and peace. Side by side comparison with Marina Bay Sands and Berlin for illustration purpose Thank you Eurobricks Staff and LEGO CEE Team for giving Eurobricks and myself a chance to review this! Hopefully my wife and I can visit Berlin and visit these iconic attractions Everything can be re-packed into the LEGO Architecture box To conclude, this set is a slightly above average LEGO Architecture set. At first glance, you might felt this is a pretty unappealing LEGO Architecture set as it appear as a remix blend with numerous of micro landmarks of Berlin. After building it, I felt rather satisfied with the entire built. The choice and placement of these iconic sights made me visit and read the history of Berlin, Germany in much greater keen interest. The Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate stood out to me. Hopefully one day, I can visit Berlin and view these marvel actual architecture together with my wife. Personally, I felt the designer is bold to take on this one of a kind scenic display and deviate from the usual approach. It is suitable for a table top display on your office table. I am definitely intending to display this set nicely. It has quite a nice artistic appeal. The uncertainty which might defer your choice to acquire this set could be the unknown price tag as of now. I am suspecting this set could range in USD$30 to USD$40 which is quite costly. It will be a pleasant surprise if this is in the range of USD$20 and it will be one of the push factors for me to acquire the rest as well. In general, LEGO Architecture sets aren't that affordable to begin with and is meant to target at serious LEGO fans who are keen in the LEGO Architecture series. Summary review Playability: 3/10 (Little playability since this is much intended and different from the regular mainstream.) Design: 8/10 (Well integrated designs under the micro setting with six Berlin iconic sights altogether.) Price: 5/10 (I do not know the SRP for this set yet but I suspsect it won't be affordable which is why I gave half the rating based on piece count.) Overall: 5.3/10 (Do get this set if you are a huge supporter of LEGO Architecture and if you are a causal collector, you can get this set or others if you love this place and sights very much, perhaps based on your past travels.) I gave it a "3" based on my Review Score Card. What about you? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.
  8. Thanks Rick! The new City sets are appealing especially for the vehicles which look pretty sleek and modern looking.
  9. Real great creations indeed. I like how sleek and beautiful these two-door sport cars which was inspired by James Bond movies. Well done. Thanks for sharing with us.
  10. Thank you so much for all of your comments, I enjoyed this set very much and after I built it. I actually went to re-watched Episode 1 again all over again.
  11. Hello everyone, I have been recently enjoying myself opening up new LEGO Star Wars sets lately, probably is because of the upcoming hype of Star Wars Episode 7 movie - The Force Awakens. Well, this set which I am intending to review is not exactly related to the new movie but it actually revolved around the first Episode of the prequel trilogy known as Phantom Menace. Without further ado, let's see how this new set fare in DarkFang's taste. Name: 75091 Flash Speeder Theme: LEGO System / Star Wars / Episode 1 Year: 2015 Pieces: 312 Minifigs: 3 minifigures and 2 battle droids Price: USD $29.99, GBP 34.99, EURO NA, SGD $79.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 75091 Flash Speeder Back view of the original box image of the 75091 Flash Speeder The Battle of Naboo has begun This Flash Speeder is a long awaited re-released design. It first appeared as 7124 Flash Speeder in Year 2000, when the Star Wars Episode 1 was release around this period. There were no other design variants of this set until 15 years later, when we finally see an improved and modern version of the Flash Speeder. Personally, I am very excited to finally own this set at a decent discounted price. Comparing to the first version of Flash Speeder, the modern release is three times bigger and twice the seating capacity as well. I am quite pleased with the overall minifigures selection which will be explained further later. The main deterrence to attempt to own this set, was the hefty price tag. However, I actually enjoyed the entire building experience which somehow managed to justify for me is a good set to have in your LEGO Star Wars collection. The content of the sealed box The sealed box come with three mint numbered packs, an instruction manual and a sticker sheet to illustrate the speeder controls. After building the set, these are the remaining spare parts in packet 1 and packet 3. The fully assembled minifigures and battle droids I am quite pleased with the overall minifigures selection but not too pleased with the inclusion of battle droids which I agreed is a necessity to increase the playability since the battle droids are the most visible villains in Episode 1. The three new minifigures have nice detailed back printing. Well, the battle droids are nothing worth to mention. These regular battle droids have been seen across 20 sets for this design so far. As for the other three characters, I am glad to see the brand new design of the Naboo Security Officer featuring in the centre of the image. This minifigure is exclusive in this set. The Naboo Security Guard in the yellow outfit also appeared in the 75058 MTT. I am quite fond of their outfit especially their headpiece which bear the insigina of Naboo Security crest Both minifigures will complement with Captain Panaka, head of the Naboo Royal Security Force. Captain Tarpals was a notable character of the Gungan species and same as Jar Jar Blinks. He was one of the leaders in the Gungan Grand Army in Planet Naboo. In Episode 1, he led an army of Gungans to battle the Trade Federation during the Battle of Grassy Plains and subsequently he was promoted to General in the Clone Wars. Ultimately, Captain Tarpals was sacrificed and slain by General Grievious. Captain Tarpals is exclusive to this set as well. The entire building content for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 Upon finishing packet 1, you can see the base of the speeder and the front completed with the shape outline. This packet also come with two battle droids. The entire building content for Packet 2 The completed built for Packet 2 Upon putting the content of packet 2 together, the rear of the speeder and the seating capacity is being formed up well. In this packet, you will get the remaining three minifigures. The entire building content for Packet 3 The completed built of the Flash Speeder The Flash Speeder is finally complete. The Flash Speeder is also known as the Seraph-class urban landspeeder which is used by the Royal Naboo Security Force. It was modified from a civilian landspeeder to serve the purpose of security patrol. To assist in these security duties, the Flash Speeder was armed with a rotating blaster turret and side missiles which can be shot out. These weapons were positioned on the rear of the vehicle. The Flash Speeder was operated by a single driver, and up to three passengers could be accommodated comfortably in its open-topped interior. It can be used to transport VIPs such as Senator Amidala and Chancellor Palpatine or security troopers in a fast manner. The speeder's repulsorlift engines allowed it to reach a height of two meters above ground level, and gave the Seraph a maximum speed of 200 kph. Designed for urban environments, the Flash Speeder was suited more to patrolling city streets than traversing uneven terrain. The completed built of the Flash Speeder is amazingly sleek and wonderful. I love the fact that both of the doors are able to lift up like a convertible sports car. The minifigures will not have to jump into the speeder anymore and is befitting for VIPs to enter for their ground transport. You can open the both rear compartments where the security troopers can store their digital binoculars and short-ranged blasters in there safely while moving. I think this is an awesome speeder to use to escort VIPs as it can sit four minifigures to maximimse the seating capacity to increase the playability. You may see some closer up views of the Flash Speeder in front view, side view, rear view and bottom view. The Flash Speeder is now standing by Awaiting for their VIP to arrive Senator Amidala in safe hands under the Naboo security forces It can sit four persons in a comfortable position We need to escort you to a safe location Defend the premise at all costs To conclude, this set is an above average set. At first glance, you could think this is an underrated set, but I am glad I am mistaken after building it. The building experience was enjoyable and I like the playability and design very much especially the doors design. The design is rather sleek with the smooth facade. The downside of it, is the high price. I bought this about 35% SRP, which is quite decent discount and glad to finally own it with more better designed minifigures for the Royal Naboo Security Force as well as the new Captain Tarpals. I am glad to have this set and probably be using it for VIP or troop transport. If I can see a better discount, I will definitely buy a second set. Summary review Playability: 9/10 (Fun playing speeder with the doors and the fact that it can accommodate four minifigures is truly awesome.) Design: 9/10 (Excellent speeder design with its sleek and modern appearance.) Price: 5/10 (Price is on the high side, do consider getting this if you can get a decent discount for this set.) Overall: 7.7/10 (Get this set since this new design variant was released 15 years ago and I don't see this design being re-released again anytime soon.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about you? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.
  12. My white Christmas Tree for 2015 in the Eurobricks Xmas Raffle Entry This is a white Christmas tree which is thought by WhiteFang. It is not the normal looking Christmas tree but instead it is a tree where he hanged all of his wishes in there. Looking at the tree and you probably realised he is wishing to go for a holiday with his baggage and camera, accompanied by his wife, Belun. Going around and exploring new places with delicious food, drinks and pizza as we moved about in the trip. WhiteFang placed his wife right at the top of the tree, similar like the shining star placed at the top. This is what I wished for this coming Christmas. This is my entry for the annual Eurobricks Xmas Raffle 2015. Hope you guys liked it.
  13. You just got to share more of those in-depth images in there. It looks real great!
  14. Hello everyone, I am back again to bring you a new polybag review for the Eurobricks community even though it is just a mere minifigure. And, why would I even bother to do a review for a minifigure? Well, this minifigure is known as Admiral Yularen and I am pretty fond of this character due to his formal introduction in the animated Clone Wars. Well, the real excuse is for me to share my excitement of doing this review since I managed to get this polybag as part of the local promotional feature in Singapore. This is really a simplistic walkthrough of this minifigure and much lesser of a review. Without further ado, let me share some interesting bits of this character. Name: 5002947 Admiral Yularen Theme: LEGO System / Star Wars / Episode 6 Year: 2015 Pieces: 4 Minifigs: 1 minifigure Price: USD N.A, GBP N.A, EURO N.A, SGD N.A Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original polybag image of the 5002947 Admiral Yularen Back view of the original polybag image of the 5002947 Admiral Yularen The completed built of Admiral Yularen It was lucky to have a decent promotion like this in the month of November 2015 where LEGO Certified Stores (LCS) in Singapore are celebrating this in-store promotion by purchasing SGD$130 worth of LEGO products in order to be eligible for this free gift. Well, this is a late surprise polybag as this polybag was part of the bigger promotion in May the Fourth on other marketing platforms. I am still pleased that it managed to make a local appearance and I don't have to spend additional money just to acquire the polybag itself. So, how many of you really know Admiral Yularen? Before the appearance of the animated Clone Wars, I am aware that he was part of the cameo appearance onboard Death Star I in Episode 6. During the Clone Wars, Yularen was persuaded by Emperor Palpatine to join the Republic Navy as an admiral and became one of the youngest naval officers to hold the rank and the naval commander of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker's fleet. Following the re-organisation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, Yularen returned to the intelligence business, serving in the newly-formed Imperial Security Bureau (ISB) as the head of a task force charged with rooting out sedition within the government. He became a Colonel in the Bureau and was stationed aboard the first Death Star as the head of the ISB contingent and a member of Grand Moff Tarkin's staff. Yularen was tasked with briefing the Grand Moff and maintaining loyalty to the Empire, as many senior officers aboard the Death Star had plans to use the battle-station for their own means. Yularen was aboard the Death Star when it was attacked by the Rebel Alliance, and perished when the station was destroyed. On another note, Yularen's actual rank is Colonel and I think TLG is paying respect to him by bestowing the Admiral rank which I am pleased with. The minifigure assortment There are just four LEGO parts to form the complete Admiral Yularen. The design is spot-on, when it was given a white Imperial Officer outfit along with his insignia rank. This is also the first official design of Admiral Yularen. There are no alternate facial appearance. I am glad to note there is back printing. I am very fond of the overall design. Greetings! You are being detained by the Imperial Army Lead your fleet to victory To conclude, this polybag is a nice detailed minifigure with good printing with a brand new white Imperial Officer outfit. It is a good minifigure and it will be quite highly desired to be owned among the LEGO Star Wars minifigures collectors especially this is a first of its kind design. I am very pleased to have this in my collection and I hope you can find this minifigure through affordable means. Summary review Playability: 7/10 (You need to have the rest of the minifigures in order to increase the playability.) Design: 7/10 (Nice printing, but could be good if it come with alternate facial appearance.) Price: 7/10 (If you can get it as part of the promotional deal, I will think is worth to get it. As for secondary market price, it really depends on how much your wallet can spare for it.) Overall: 7/10 (It is a nice-to-have minifigure but I won't pay a premium price for it. I am glad to be able to own it through proper legitimate channel.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.
  15. Access granted. Welcome to Reviewers Academy.
  16. Hello everyone, Let's welcome 'Bunker Boy', the latest customised product from Minifig Labs.com I am very pleased to be given a chance to share a different type of review which I don't normally do. Some of you might be aware that I have previously done a review last year for these World Cup 2014 customised minifigures. Well, these minifigures including the one that I have received are made by the Minifigures Customisation Manufacturer in the local (Singapore) LEGO AFOL Community known as, Minifig Labs. In this very comprehensive review, I will be introducing and highlight the latest customised minifigure which are designed and marketed for fans of 'Bunker Boy'. Special thanks to the Scientist, founder of Minifig Labs for providing me with this intriguing customised minifigure. The original packaging from Minifig Labs.com The customised minifigure, 'Bunker Boy' including an accessory. I received the item in a well packed bubble wrap on the exterior and the product was stored in their own designed zip-lock bag. Can't wait to find out what do we have in here. Taking a photo with WhiteFang and 'Bunker Boy' You may find this character uncanny resemblance to a video game character known as Vault Boy in the Fallout game. Well, to some great extent, it's definitely very closely related. If you are a great fan as well as a LEGO fan, you may wish to consider to explore this customised video game character of 'Bunker Boy'. This character is part of Vault-Tec who designed and constructed advanced technologies. It was a major military contractor before the Great War, and as such, developed highly experimental, advanced and secret technologies. In time, Vault-Tec became so thoroughly integrated with top-secret military research done by the Pentagon that it had practically become a department of the U.S. government. Vault Boy is the mascot character of the Vault-Tec corporation within the Fallout universe, appearing in their adverts, manuals, products and training film. In appearance, he is a young male cartoon character with wavy blond hair wearing a vault jumpsuit. Most of the time, he expresses a wide grin on his face. To be honest, I am not exactly a subject matter expert on this video game though. I personally find they did a good job to customise this video game character to the best they could. In the areas of production, Minifig Labs used the UV printing technology. UV printing used UV inks which is cured under UV light for faster evaporated effect. Minifig Labs customised minifigure is made of decent good quality which will allow end-users to have rough handling as long you do not scratch it deliberately with pointed tool or sharp fingernails. The print design looks nice from afar, but upon closer inspection, you may noticed some slight coarse surface that does not translate to smooth finishing which is one of the limitations of UV printing. I still consider Minifig Labs customisation quality to be in the mid-tier range. It is better than applying waterslide decals or usage of home inkjet printers. However, it is still not as good as full-pledged pad printing, which is a totally different class of its own. Thus, Minifig Labs is more of a mid-tier range. Minifig Labs allows individuals to input their own customisation effect to some extend which is not made available in most channels in the LEGO community such as able to input the 'bunk number' which can be inprinted at the back of the customised minifigure. However, you may notice that some prints maybe slightly inconsistent and is not as razor sharp as one would hope for. This is just my honest opinion of what I think it should be. For info, Minifig Labs used 100% LEGO parts for their customisation works. The alternate view of 'Bunker Boy' The 'Bunker Boy' character has an alternate facial appearance. I opted for the LEGO generic appearance then the actual comic version, mainly is because I wish to integrate the minifigure among my LEGO collection as it is by able to interchange with one another. I chosen the bunker number as '24' for my vault or bunk. This is the side view of the customised character. It even include a customised printed 1x1 circular flat tile accessory which resemble the Nuka Cola. In this case, this is the 'Nuke Cola'. The yellow hairpiece is exclusively from the LEGO Green Arrow minifigure. On the price count, this minifigure is not exactly very affordable either. It cost an estimated USD$25 excluding shipping for this customised character. I am quite sure they are many who aren't so keen to get it due to the pricing and is probably priced in such a manner due to high operating production cost and this minifigure might ultimately be suited for niche market. With all these factors considered, I gave this customised minifigure, an average scoring. So, what do the Eurobricks Community rate? 'Bunker Boy' in the midst of the Big Bang Theory cast along with another special guest Could you like to come into our apartment to join in our scientific discussion? All in all, I hope you have enjoyed reading this simple and informative review. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.
  17. Yes, the exact series/promotion has appeared in Malaysia. This could be the last chance to get them.
  18. Yes, is suitable for both entry level reviewers and people who have some knowledge on photography. You may find those lessons as a form of refresher. 19. LuxorV, excellent review. For a non Doctor Who fan but yet a LEGO fan, you have interest me greatly to follow up to find out more on this BBC TV series and I wondered why it is so popular like the Big Bang Theory. I am no subject matter expert but I am glad you have shared and relate to the fullest in reference to the actual TV series. It is a lovely set and I am looking forward to buy this set too. Thank you for doing this.
  20. I am just going to echo what the rest have mentioned and this is just so incredibly nice. I didn't even believe in the first place that is created by LEGO bricks. Such a scale. Such an amazing beauty. Thank you for sharing this cinematic experience with us!
  21. Thanks guys for all of your input and comments. Well said, I fully agreed with you. My favourite set could definitely be the Emperor Stronghold and the Ninja Flying Fortress, and perhaps the Samurai Stronghold as well. It is the 3053 Emperor Stronghold and the 6093 Ninja Flying Fortress, which I hope to integrate and merge with. I don't have these sets yet, but I hope to own them one day. I agree is harder to commit when most of the funds dedicate to one mega set. I had the same dilemma sometimes but this set could have justify it since it is the equivalent of the Medieval Market Village environment. I am not sure if those can be worn as fez hats. I believe you can put the minifig in a chasing manner along the roof top. Just that you need to be delicate and find the right spot for the legs to be stabilise. Sorry, you meant the minifigures posing in the review?
  22. Thank you guys for your comments and thoughts. It is very insightful and interesting to see various takes from our EB Castle Fans. I like how detailed on you view the playset and break it down in sections. All in all, we are here to buy Smaug and I believed most of us won't regret getting it even though the price is quite high. It has been around for almost a year and I don't see it locally anymore in stores. It also means we are seeing it EOL very soon. If you are hesitating, don't hesitate. Getting Smaug may not justify to buy this set, but if you wish to get Smaug later, I believe the price in secondary marketplace will be higher. Furthermore, I don't think we will ever see a Smaug in this highly detailed manner anymore. I had lots of fun playing with Smaug and that is my all time new favourite big size molded LEGO dragon even though I still love those classic dragons. That is another topic for another discussion. As for the axe being trans-green, I am not sure but probably just to match Dwalin outfit and to create a special rare looking weapon for him.
  23. Dear Eurobricks Community, I am very pleased to present to share with all of you on my latest completed reviewing project of the 79018 The Lonely Mountain. Please feel free to leave your thoughts! WhiteFang
  24. Hi Arctic_Ace, I understand that from your topic that it seem to imply as an user-feedback review for the set 6375 which is quite well summarised. However, in Eurobricks context, review topic will need to encompass with images and written text in order to provide an all-round reading experience for the EB community. Thus, may I sincerely request you to let me know of your agenda and purpose for this topic if is intended to be a pictorial review or a discussion topic or something else? Thank you. WhiteFang
  25. Hello everyone, It has been almost a year since the release of the 79018 The Lonely Mountain set and I suspect this set is probably reaching the end-of-life (EOL) stage. I vividly recalled that I watched the Hobbit movies in December 2013 and 2014 respectively for the Desolation of Smaug and Battle of the Five Armies. It was an enjoyable movie experience. Now having a chance to do this pictorial review for Eurobricks is indeed a great reminiscing experience. I may not remember all of the accurate movie references but I will try my best to relate as I goes by. Without further do, let's see if this set lived up to the astounding name. Name: 79018 The Lonely Mountain Theme: LEGO System / Licensed / The Hobbit / The Battle of The Five Armies Year: 2014 Pieces: 866 Minifigs: 5 minifigures Price: USD $129.99, GBP 99.99, EURO 129.99, SGD $239.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original box image of the 79018 The Lonely Mountain Back view of the original box image of the 79018 The Lonely Mountain The full LEGO Hobbit characters in this set The anticipated LEGO Hobbit set before it comes to an end It has been a great pleasure for me to finally work on a LEGO pictorial review for the Hobbits theme. I have always been a huge fan of J.R.R Tolkien works especially with the movies of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit appearing onto the big screens for the past 15 years. Well, LEGO is the closest thing that I have in order for me to relate the joy for these movies with an excellent combination of medieval LEGO castle theme altogether. The 79018 Lonely Mountain is not exactly designed to be a sizeable LEGO scaled mountain. Instead, it is a mash of different playing features of an integrated playset with the sole focus of having Smaug, the Dragon. This set was supposed to be the last hurrah for the LEGO Hobbit sets in 2014. It is the largest set for the entire LEGO Hobbits Theme with a total piece count of 866 pieces. The set was followed by the 79010 The Goblin King Battle with a total piece count of 841 pieces, followed by 79014 Dol Guldur Battle with a total piece count of 797 pieces. Till this date, there are no other LEGO Hobbit sets which exceeded this size and scale. Please note that I did not include Lord of the Rings in this comparison even though some might have a different opinion on this. In a nutshell of what Lonely Mountain really depict in , it is a Kingdom under the Mountain founded by Thrain I the Old. The Arkenstone was also discovered at that time. His son, Thorin I, left the mountain with much of the Folk of Durin to live in the Ered Mithrin (Grey Mountains) on account of the great riches to be found in that range. After dragons plundered their hoards, the Longbeards, led now by Thror, a descendant of Thorin, returned to Erebor to take up the title King under the Mountain. Under Thror's reign, Erebor became a great stronghold where the Dwarves became a numerous and prosperous people. The Dwarves of Erebor were at that time well known for the making of matchless weapons and armour, and there was great demand for their work by the surrounding peoples. The Longbeards amassed a large treasure hoard during this time. The content of the sealed box The sealed box comes with 12 mint packs and among them, 6 mint packs is numbered and grouped from one to six, the other 6 mint packs are for the building of Smaug the Dragon, two large big ugly rock pieces (BURPs), a disappointing yet moderately expected sticker sheet and a thick instruction manual in perfect bind to guide the user to build up the set. The instruction manuals are packaged in a sealed plastic together with the sticker sheet. There is a paper cardboard which probably suggest this is part of the manual packing process by the assembly line workers in the factory. The paper cardboard serve as an additional support to prevent the manual to roll up or getting into a crumpled state. The thick instruction manual are made up of good quality printing material. At the back of the manual, you will see the different latest LEGO Hobbit characters which will entice you to collect them all in various sets. After I rummage through the content, I took a picture before I pour them out of the box. Judging from the image, you can see the amount of empty space left behind in this big box measured at 58cm (W) x 37.5cm (H) x 9cm (D). If you wish to view the quick building process of this set, you may also view the official video by TLG as well. After the set has been built, these are the remaining generous spare parts which is spread across the packs. You can view the spare parts for packet 1 including an orange brick separator, packet 2, packet 3, packet 4, packet 5 and packet 6. As you may have noticed, there are plentiful of useful spare parts like the additional cheese slopes bricks and weapons. The awesome new LEGO Hobbit minifigures In the next few sections, I will be focusing more on the detailed minifigures aspect and an introduction history of the characters through the aid of Lord of the Rings Wiki. In this 79018 The Lonely Mountain, you get a moderate total of five minifigures. In the photo above (from left to right), the featured minifigures are Balin the Dwarf, Fili the Dwarf, Bilbo Baggins, Kili the Dwarf and Dwalin the Dwarf. Unfortunately, this is not the entire range of minifigures being made available. All of these minifigures' design are unique to this set. However, the Hobbit characters themselves are not exclusive to this set. These characters can be obtained in many other sets in this theme. Well, you are still short of eight more characters to form the full Dwarves company though. The minifigures' torso designs are excellent and beautiful. I love their torso designs very much due to its regal and royalty appearance. The torsos are able to integrate and introduced into LEGO Castle theme. I have bought a couple of those minifigures on BrickLink as I felt the design are universally versatile for you to apply customised minifigures configuration for your castle medieval setting. It does not have to be in the Hobbit setting. All of the five minifigure are featured with detailed back printing and are issued with assorted weapons. To note, these minifigures are spread across different allocated packs. Front view of Balin and Bilbo The first batch of minifigures will be featuring Balin the Dwarf and Bilbo Baggins. Balin was a Dwarf leader, the son of Fundin and elder brother of Dwalin. He was one of the twelve Dwarves who accompanied Thorin II Oakenshield on the quest to regain the lost kingdom of the Lonely Mountain. He was one of Thorin's closest friends and advisers, and was always willing to listen and offer some wise counsel. Balin is distantly related to Thorin, and is a descendant of the noble house of Durin. He later went to develop the old kingdom of Dwarves, Moria. He achieved the name Lord of Moria where he is later killed by Goblins. Bilbo Baggins was a Hobbit and the main protagonist. He was hired by Thorin and Company to be their burglar on the Quest of Erebor and later fought in the Battle of the Five Armies. Bilbo was also one of the bearers of the One Ring, and the first to voluntarily give it up, although with some difficulty. He wrote of his adventures in a book he called There and Back Again. Both minifigures are very well designed, equipped with their respective weapons and are now featured in their new different outfit. They have detailed back printing and upon removing their hairpieces, there are alternate facial appearances hidden at the back. This is the second time Balin has appeared again and this character can only be found in these two sets. While, Bilbo can be found in five different designed outfits across eight different sets with some repeated introduction. I am not surprised that Bilbo is much easily available since he is the main protagonist in the movies. Front view of Dwalin The second batch of minifigure will be featuring Dwalin the Dwarf. Dwalin was one of the Dwarves who travelled with Bilbo and Gandalf on the quest to regain the Lonely Mountain from Smaug. He is the brother of Balin. Dwalin is tall for a dwarf, moody, strong and very brave as he charged in battle. A famous warrior and a powerful ally, Dwalin would like nothing more than to see the return of the Dwarven King under the Mountain. The minifigure is nicely done up and I am particularly fond of Dwalin's head print upon removing his beard. The long emerald dual axe is a nice weapon and it matched with his armoured torso. When you turn the minifigure to the back, you can see the back printing and upon removing his beard, there are detailed head printing which surround his head. This is the second time Dwalin has appeared again and this character can only be found in these two sets. Front view of Kili and Fili The last batch of minifigures will be featuring Kili the Dwarf and Fili the Dwarf. Fili and Kili are brothers, the youngest of the thirteen dwarves who set out on Thorin Oakenshield's quest along with Gandalf and Bilbo Baggins to reclaim the Lonely Mountain for the Dwarves. Fili and Kili were the two most active dwarves of Thorin's company, and apart from Balin, and possibly Bombur, they appeared more frequently as "individual" characters in Tolkien's novel than the rest of Thorin's companions, who were most often named only in "group" references to the entire company. To me, Kili was my favourite character in the Hobbit movie and seeing him in a brand new outfit pleased me very much. I actually customised it to be one of my new generals in my collection. Both minifigures are very well designed in their armoured outfits which is much better looking than their ranger attires. They have detailed back printing and upon removing their hairpieces, there are alternate angry facial appearances hidden at the back. This is the second time Fili and Kili has appeared again together and both character can only be found in this set and 79001 Escape from Mirkwood Spiders. The entire company of Dwarves lead by Thorin Oakenshield The amazing completed built of Smaug Now, this is what we have been waiting for. We have the official LEGO Smaug and we don't have to find excuses to substitute Smaug with other LEGO designed dragons anymore such as the one from 7093 Skeleton Tower and 70403 Dragon Mountain. The size of the LEGO Smaug is measured at 47cm (L) x 21.5cm (H) x 38cm (W). With this Smaug, you can re-entact this particular playing scene. This is indeed a very well molded dragon and is well made for good playability. I personally prefer this new design very much and it made the previous molded dragons look rather small. One of the best playing feature of Smaug is the foldable wings. As you can see that the wings can be folded together in this manner and you can easily extend the wings to the full wing span. The box art illustrates the playing feature of Smaug. The design of the Smaug is very well articulated design. Not sure if anyone of you have noticed this weak spot which is a single bare patch on the monster's left breast, nearest his heart. To me, I enjoyed seeing such fine detail being taken into consideration. Smaug is well protected with its extreme tough armoured scales and sharp horns at the back. Smaug is very posable in various angles which can be seen posing in the front view, back view, side view and a very close up of the spitting fire breathing view. Smaug is a fire drake of the Third Age, considered to be the last dragon to exist in Middle Earth. Drawn to the enormous wealth amassed by the Dwarves of the Lonely Mountain during the reign of King Thror, he laid waste to the neighboring city of Dale and captured the Lonely Mountain, driving the surviving Dwarves into exile. For almost two hundred years, Smaug hoarded the Lonely Mountain treasures and ruled within the Lonely Mountain, until a company of Dwarves managed to enter the Lonely Mountain and drive him out of hiding. Correctly believing that the dwarves had received assistance from the men of Lake-town in entering the Lonely Mountain, Smaug left the mountain to wreak destruction upon Lake-town, nearly decimating it before being slain by Bard the Bowman. What are you doing here? Run and vanish This is the biggest dragon that we have encountered We shall stand and fight to our death Steady.. Steady... The entire building content for Packet 1 The completed built for Packet 1 The completed built for the first packet shows the completed built of Smaug, Balin, Bilbo and the treasure trove. The treasure trove can be opened up and revealed two bottom layers where precious gems and artifacts can be unveiled. This is part of the playing feature which was seen in the box art. I honestly expected the treasure trove to be bigger but this is more like a decorative piece which doesn't signify the massive treasures in the mountain. Thus, I have to improvise a little by adding precious red rubies into the midst of the playset. Please note that images with the red rubies are not included in the official set. The entire building content for Packet 2 The completed built for Packet 2 The completed built for packet 2 showed the half-built stand-alone structure of the forging area. The back view revealed the partial mining area. In the box art, it illustrates the search of the Arkenstone beneath the mining area. I have actually placed the Arkenstone in here and you probably thought is just a common ore part. I bet some of you might not have noticed that the top of the Arkenstone is a printed design. It could look nicer if the part number is not indicated on it. It seems our burglar have found the Arkenstone. In case one might wondering what is an Arkenstone, it is known as Arkenstone of Thrain, also known as the Heart of the Mountain and the King's Jewel. The Arkenstone became the family heirloom of Durin's folk, but was lost when Smaug captured the mountain from the Dwarves. The entire building content for Packet 3 The completed built for Packet 3 The completed built for the third packet shows the completed structure of the forging and mining area and this packet also include Dwalin. The entire structure highlighted the door as well, even though I don't quite understand why the secret entrance to the mountain is actually shown inside the playset like as if it was meant to open from the inside. The key in the key lock does allow them to finally enter into Erebor. The box art did try to illustrate it though. I suspect this was done due to limitation of bricks and integration but I personally felt it was wrong to feature the secret entrance in this manner as the flow is not correct. Well, I had to switch around to try different suitability of the doors usage such as this and this. The forging area is quite decent with the inclusion of anvil and hammer. The Dwarves can forge weapons and armours and equip them in full battle combat attire. I am quite fond of the mine looking structure from the side though especially with the wooden frame in there. The completed built did not include the pulley and the mining catapult which will be built from the entire building contest in Packet 4 which I will explain in this section. You can view the completed forge giant catapult and giant pulley with the bucket of gold ores. The playability feature of these two functions can be seen in here and over here. The giant pulley can push from one end to another. These various playing feature can be seen in this box art. The entire building content for Packet 5 The completed built for Packet 5 The completed built for fifth packet showed the half-built structure of the throne room. This packet also include Fili and Kili. The back view of the structure and there is a black knob which will trigger the falling staircase upon pushing it inwards. This is what you expect to see when the knob is pushed. By placing the fallen staircase back into its original position, the black knob will be back to its original state. The entire building content for Packet 6 Front view of the Throne Room The remaining packet form the last portion of this playset which is the eventual throne room. The throne room though made up of sand green bricks is quite suitable with a good mixed of grey bricks I am quite fond of the size of this throne room even though is not as majestic as I thought it might be. You can search for the Arkenstone and placed it on throne as illustrated in the box art. You can take a closer look at the overall built of this throne from the back view. This is how it will looks like after the Arkenstone is placed onto the throne. The completed built of the Lonely Mountain This is the completed built of the Lonely Mountain. It is not as grand as I thought it could be. The main focus on this set is actually Smaug and the minifigures which I am very fond of. It is a great pity that the playset is not as good as I thought it could be. It does not represent as the actual Lonely Mountain or really represent from the inside. The good point is that the playabilty features are being integrated to create different scenarios. Look what we have found in the midst of these treasures Oh my... It seems we have a visitor in here We are not afraid of you Bilbo sitting on the throne Aren't you supposed to be running away? This is an expensive trap specially made for you This mountain of treasure belongs to me... To conclude, this is quite a slightly above average set. I may have expected much more on the playset where the Lonely Mountain could depict a bigger picture. However, the piece count is not at the high side and it is highly possible that most of the resources could have devoted onto Smaug design which is incredibly good detailing and playing feature. The minifigures are equally outstanding and to be honest, those two factors are my biggest draw to this Hobbit set. Either way, this set is a must-to-have for LEGO Lord of the Rings and Hobbit fans. I hope you will enjoy this set as well. Summary review Playability: 7/10 (Decent playability but not quite to my liking.) Design: 7/10 (Outstanding design on Smaug and the minifigures but I don't quite like the playset as is quite bare looking.) Price: 7/10 (Price is on the high side but if you missed this, the price will be much expensive in the future.) Overall: 7/10 (Get this set and don't miss it for the sake and love of Smaug especially if you are a Hobbit fan.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed. Pictures can be found in My Flickr.
