  1. This is my latest acquisition - bricks from Legoland, Germany, bought at LEGO Factory store and at the Sales tent. It's all together around 5 kg. Next to sorting them out, I'm also counting them and checking the prices on BL to see how good a bargain it was. For the moment, it's looking good as I got some goodies (1x2 in sand green and dark orange) that are quite expensive on BL.
  2. I totally agree on the printing of doctor's torso. Design by itself is great, however, it looks quite terrible seeing a bluish printing of otherwise all white coat. I guess that's just a beaut thing with the set. Anyway, the set is 100% off my wanted list, although I might get the doctor latter if I decide to make my own hospital. Cwetqo, was there anything else of the new wave sets in Munich?
  3. The whole layout is amazingly beautiful. There's so many wonderful details, too many to mention. I'm not an expert on trains, but from far, they looks great with the lively colours. However, my favourite are both the house and the train station. They're just perfect in my eyes with many interesting techniques.
  4. Another great MOC! And this one really looks optimistic with all the white bricks. The atmosphere is completly different than in your previous MOCs. Well done!
  5. That's a great school! The building itself is very interesting with large windows in the second floor and some detailing in dark red. The shape of the house (a 'U' form) is great to include backside yard with some bicycles and basketball basket. Including two doors on different sides is realistic as well (every school I went to, had two entrances, one for kids, one for teachers). But then, it's a modular school and it's amazing how well you created interiors. I like the long (B&W tiled) corridor and the chemistry lab in the ground floor, and then both class rooms in the second floor. Well done!
  6. The facade is amazing. It's really simply built using the round bricks, but the effect is just perfect. It actually took all my attention, so I had to concentrate to see the Lanternier minifig. Nevertheless, choice of minifigs is great as well. They really fit in. The only thing missing is a picture with the light on (to see how well he did his job).
  7. It's very interesting to look at this bastion, even as it is 'only' a WIP. I like mostly the interior details, that add so much life to the creation. My favourite are definetely the corner shelfs. And seeing its size, it's fantastically build (and planned) to make a different shape in the classic grey-red colour scheme. Well done.
  8. That's an amazing first castle! Despite the size and predominantly gray colour it looks very impressive hovering above the village's pastries with goats and cows. Including the interiors of the castle, it just stands out even more. I only wish you'd include more pictures in the first post to get more attention.
  9. Cwetqo, we're going on 28th, early in the morning (or late at night) by bus (with the travel agency). I sure hope you'll leave some (good) bricks for us. I plan to stock on some parts for our latest (slightly bigger) project, so any info would be great. Are you going just for a day? We'll probably just miss each other then. Calv, thanks for the answer. I was refering to Factory store in Legoland, Gunzburg. From what I can see and what I heard, there are some differences between a 'regular' PaB wall in LEGO stores and Lego stores in Legoland parks. Thanks, bricks you mentioned sound really good, although there's never enough flowers and grass. About rides, I don't plan to take many, I just hope to spend more time in Miniland than in the shop.
  10. The size of the model is great, and so is the detailing...all those bread bricks create amazing pattern. Well done!
  11. I love what you did to both GE and FB. Changes in GE are fantastic, the terrace on the top with the cafe is amazing and has a great view of the town. On the other hand, FB has an additional value with a sleeping/resting area and a bathroom and could be a real floor in the official set. Amazing altogether. Well done!
  12. Thanks for the update. Town hall fits in very nicely. Also, there are some lovely buildings around that I'd love to have a closer look. Both 16-wides next to the tan building look interesting, and so does the dark red building. You're lucky to have so much space for a great layout.
  13. Nevertheless, you modified some bricks to give this creation an extremely elegant look. It's an amazing creation, and when you're able to modify bricks to make them look like they're commonly produced, it's worth it (I'd probably ruined them). Also, the custum stickers give a great effect. Well done!
  14. Congratulations to the winners and all other participants for showing us an amazing set of creations!
  15. That's an interesting design and a very lively restaurant! I like the choice of colours (white, grays and black) and a combination of various bricks to add some detailing to the facade. Well done!
  16. Another great building! The hotel is very fascinating with the facade detailing in various colours, that all together look very 'classy'. One of my favourite details are the roof, the terrace, and the interior all together (fantastic flower pots and stands, the amazing picture on the wall, the golden ornaments on the beds etc.).
  17. This is my building area, and at the moment mostly my sorting area. I got 4 new storage cabinets, and I am currently rearranging part of the collection. I was using the storage boxes with small compartments up till now, but they do get messy at some point, specially if there is not enough space left on the table. Back on the wall, I put some inspirational MOCs on the wall. Under the table I keep a box of trains and tracks, a box with 2x something bricks, and in the smaller white boxes I have some car bricks, slopes and strange big pieces. All my classic, 1x something bricks are kept by colour in the bottom drawer in zip bags. The smaller, more specialized pieces I keep in the drawers of the new cabinets, but some will probably be left in the storage boxes as well. What I have left of the boxes, I keep on the top shelves of the book cabinet. When my collection was smaller (and desk area larger), the boxes were fine, however this way, it's hard to have open more than one box at the same time, thus leading to a huge mess after building and finishing a MOC. Just a trick, I learned to use. While sorting, I use subcategories and group bricks in small plastic picnic plates. I keep most of my modulars in the bedroom on a shelf, and some behind the glass on the book shelves. And someone might notice that I try to keep my books sorted by colour, same as in some of my modulars.
  18. Thanks for the link, JopieK. The link for Brickbildr is a good one, but there's no inventory for the Legoland store. I googled a bit, trying to find photos or info on what kind of bricks to expect, and have a mixed feeling about it now. Some stores (mostly US, I think) have lots of colourful bricks, but they're taken from too far to really see what's in them (pic1 or Billund). Also, at Brickbuildr, there is an inventory of bricks from the Billung store, and that one is quite good for my taste.
  19. I haven't heard about this set before and the news was a bit of surprise. I found the old set online a few months back, and was excited about it. Now, this one is even more detailed and the green colour is a fine touch. I'm not an expert on planes, but this one looks realistic and beatiful enough for me.
  20. Hello to everyone. I hope I'm posting in the right section of the forum. I'm planning a trip to Legoland, Germany on May 1st. As I am not a huge fan of rollercosters and similar adrenaline sports, I'm mostly looking forward to a 'walk' in the miniland, admiring the creations, looking for new inspirations, and while there, check out the Lego factory store. My question, to more 'experienced' AFOLs, is what is the selection of bricks there? I know the price range, 100 g per 8 EUR. I'm looking forward to get more bricks 1x... in tan, brown, grays, etc. and some extra greenery or specific bricks. I'm mostly a City builder, so I'm hoping to get something there. Since the store in Legoland is not included at BrickBildr's PAB wall selection, can anyone help me out figure out what can I expect there? Thanks for your help in advance.
  21. Thanks for revealing a 'secret'. Now I finally see some sense in all those technic pieces.
  22. Alexgri, that's a lovely build and it would be great to see it in real bricks! Next to an interesting exterior, the furniture is my favourite (no. 1 most definitely the iron and ironing board - in contrast to real life ). Great work indeed!
  23. It's amazing how this landscape is evolving! There's so many interesting and inspiring details!
  24. To add my share, I miss the most baseplates and pictures of alternative models in sets other than Creator.
  25. I bought four 33-drawer storage cabinets (like this) on special deal today. As my pre-sorting bin got too small, I was planning to reorganize my collection for a few weeks now, but all the boxes were full, and there was no space. Also, I didn't want to get more boxes, as I found them a bit clumsy to take out, open, put back etc. I kept my eyes open for drawer cabinets, and I finally got some. More on the sorting part, most often I buy sets, build them, and then dissassemble after some time (the same for MOCs). If I have time, I do some presorting while dissassembling into broader categories (bricks, plates, minifigs, plants, tiles...), but most often I just throw them in the bucket, where they wait. Also, a significant problem was the mess, created every time after MOCing modular buildings. Since my building area is small, and in a corner of my living room, I'm working towards making it as tidy as possible. Hopefully, this system will work out for a while.
