  1. I am a fr bigger fan of LOTR than TH, but I think that subtheme had better sets in general, hence my picks. 1. Helm's Deep 2. Orthanc 3. Unexpected Gathering 4. Mines of Moria 5. Lake-town 6. Uruk-Hai Army 7. Gandalf Arrives 8. Black Gate 9. Council of Elrond 10. Pirate Ship The top three are brilliant, 4-6 are really good sets but do not catch the eye quite as much, 7 is a perfect £10-£12 set, but as it's so cheap I put it lower down. 8-9 are good, but need doubles to really get a good set up and 10 was a nice ship, but a small part of the films that didn't really warrant a £100 set.
  2. Both Rebel Hangers would be welcome, Yavin IV has the little transports, which I'm not sure Home One has, but both have various fuel tanks and scaffolding which is quite cool. I could see a tiny control panel being included to have members of Rebel High Command like Dodonna or Willard for Yavin IV or Mon Mothma, Madine or (hopefully not) Ackbar for Home One. It'd be cool to get a new Rebel Pilot or updated Biggs, ora Rebel Honour Guard with Yavin, although I expect Luke/Han to be included. Home One must have Lando and Nien Numb surely.
  3. This list seems too good to be true, the Quadjumper was barely seen, although was more prominent than, say, the droid transport which has ahad a few iterations and the Imperial Landing Craft (2007) which was roughly in the same price bracket, maybe a bit more expensive. I'd say this set was bound to feature Finn OR Rey, BB-8, FO trooper and hopefully a Niima Outpost resident and a bit of Niima. The Death Gang, hopefully Bala Tik, Gang Member (x2 hopefully), maybe another Kanjaklub Member, the other one of Finn OR Rey, with a Rathar and a corridor section. Vader's Transformation - Ani, Vader, Palpatine and a medical droid or two. It's not really the most interesting scene, but I'm guessing it'd be a bit like the Carbon Freeze Chamber. The battle packs are interesting they cover IV-VI as well as VII. Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers seem to be the most likely candidates.
  4. I think I'm going for one of each set, except the Tie Microfighter and Yoda's ship. Duel of the Fates I'll make my mind up when I see the real thing. My current to buy list has all the Rogue One sets, Kylo's Shuttle, Falcon, Takodana, Jakku, Resistance X-Wing, Rebels A-Wing and Rebels Frigate! That's not much breathing space until these new sets come out!
  5. Two pilots in the Y-Wing, perhaps it will have room for a pilot and gunner?
  6. Fingers crossed we get E-3PO in a future Bespin set then! Thanks for the information :)
  7. Is the Imperial Astromech Droid from 75106 based on any droid n particular?
  8. It's E-3PO, the droid from Bespin. The eyes/photoreceptors are the right colour and the circular detail on the 'pecs' is correct of E-3PO, not U-3PO (the droid on the Tantive IV)
  9. http://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/EpII3po.jpg C-3PO https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/600x315/1e/c5/6a/1ec56a6e79220db2045d11a4bb66270e.jpg E-3PO http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/9/9b/U3PO.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20060616133430 U-3PO http://www.hothbricks.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/75146-lego-star-wars-advent-calendar-2016-600x300.jpg It won't let me link for some reason, but going by the droid's eyes/photoreceptors, it looks most like U-3PO, right?
  10. The two new droids, Leia's torso, perhaps a couple of Imperial torsos, I'm looking to set about £50 aside to get what I need from this set, I'm anticipating high prices for the droids especially. Better than £500 though.
  11. R3-M3, RA=7 Droid and perhaps Leia's Torso is all I'll be getting from this set. Hopefully Tarkin will appear later again later on, as well as the black suited imperial torso with insignia. I'm happy for the people who didn't get 10188, who can now get an updated version, it wouldn't surprise me to see a similar thing done in 2024 :D Hopefully there is a quick and easy mod for the throne room with parts from Final Duel and the instructions from this Death Star.
  12. It sound like it will be more cost effective to simply update 10188, and add the blue astromech and black RA-7 through Bricklink. I've converted the loading bay in my 10188 to the room full of stormtroopers in ANH, got 14 in there at the moment, but that's mostly storage until I get a Tatooine or Bespin layout sorted. I've also changed the Droid repair bit into a generic corridor. For me, those were the two weakest rooms in the original Death Star, and it'd be good to see them improved upon. The pictures and the confirmed GBP price will be the decider, but I'm hopeful that even if I don't buy it, It will provide a nice guide to updating the look of 10188. The money I save can go towards a few RO, VII, Rebels and OT sets. I'm quite tempted by UCS Hoth, but I'll wait for a sale :)
  13. So aside from the astromech, no new figures, only updates. I would have liked a dedicated Motti and Tagge, but never mind :) Only 21 figures listed there, I'm guessing the others are an extra Royal Guard, Stormtrooper and Navy Officer.
  14. Bluewater is also my local store (UK) and I've bought every TRU exclusive I've wanted there for the past six or seven years. Things are always available third party, but nothing beats going into store :) I'm excited for the DS reveal, after what has been a pretty good year for Star Wars Lego (Hoth dissapointment being the biggest downer). Hopefully it'll have as long a life as 10188!
  15. Is the combat frigate to scale with the Imperial Transport (the one with the mini TIEs)? I'd only buy it heavily discounted, otherwise it'll just be Sato and Ahsoka alone :)
  16. This is a general discussion thread, not a thread about future releases. There are loads of wishlists and rumours, but loads of good stuff has come out recently as well, RAKRONDEWL's LDD instrustions and Theodoric's Sauron and Witch-King prototypes to name two :)
  17. I'd like to reserve one too please!
  18. I really want quite a few elements of this set, but overall there's so much modding I'd have to do to get the set I want, I'm not sure it's worth the price. Shield Generator and Ion Cannon - remove the spring missiles and give a proper cannon and back section to the Ion Cannon, and a fourth section to the Shield Generator. Snowspeeder, Wampa Cave, TaunTaun Cage, Command Centre and Crane section barely upgraded from sets. Apart from some nice stickered elements in the Command Centre, I don't really want any of these sections. The Doors look great from the front, but a lot of work would have to be done to get the back looking good. The choice of dark bley BURPs also needs changing to white, and that lookout needs to go. The Trench and the Turrets are fine. I like the new e-web design too. The minifigs look beautiful. I already have enough TaunTauns and a Wampa, and I could take or leave the Snowtroopers. So, here's my problem - do I buy the minifigs I want separately, as well as hope someone puts up each individual section on eBay, buying the Ion Cannon, Shield Generator, Doors, Trench and Turret - or do I wait for a sale? I don't know how commonly UCS sets go on sale, any idea which is he best route to go down? Thanks :)
  19. Thanks for letting us know!
  20. Before this thread slips off page one and into oblivion, has anyone heard from Theodoric about his Sauron and Witch King items? It seems he hasn't logged in since February. Ta.
  21. Firstly, the film rights are only for The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, including the appendices of that book. The rights to The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, Children of Hurin, the History of Middle Earth/The Hobbit volumes are all in the hands of Tolkien's family. Christopher Tolkien is unwilling to sell them, we'll see what future generations think. Even if they were sold in the future, there is no knowing who they would be sold to. Secondly, if The Silmarillion or Children of Hurin were ever made into a film or TV series, they'd be very different from The Hobbit or LOTR. There would be no friendly and familiar faces (Bilbo, Gandalf and Elrond in TH/LOTR books, Legolas, Galadriel, Saruman, Frodo added in the films) to connect them. They are far less suited to the kind of film TH and LOTR were, and are unlikely to be the sort of thing children would want toys of or be interested in seeing. WB has the rights to bring out as many Middle Earth films as they want, as long as they don't infringe on copyright, and considering how much money these films have made, I think it's unlikely they'll never bring out another one. However, they're more than likely to be heavily original stories. Would Lego bother making sets for a new Middle Earth film, considering sales of TH/LOTR? Who knows
  22. Has anyone got any idea what happened to smallgreenpeatys on eBay? They used to seel lots of LOTR/Harry Potter/Star Wars/Super Hero customs, but have been away for sometime. I had just got round to buying their stuff after years of putting it off (they had nice Gothmog, Grishnakh and Celeborn customs I fancied) and they disappeared!
  23. I meant the Imperial Aides were not very exciting, I'm especially keen on getting Motti and Tagge :) I really hope the set doesn't warrant me spending another £400, with just a few minifigs to buy. Another thought I just had was the giant mouse droid as a possible figure. 10188 was 95% complete in terms of characters included, it's hard to see anything beating it.
  24. Aside from various Imperials (Motti, Tagge, Bast, Jerjerrod, etc), i can't think of any new characters who could be included in the new Death Star. Maybe new printing for Prisoner Leia, and Han and Luke when they get their white belts, otherwise they'd just be slightly updated from 10188, with technicians and Death Star Gunners also available. There ae those strange imerial aides seen for a second in RotJ, but that's not much to get excited about. I'm pretty sure 10188 also covered all the locations in the Death Star, and there was a lot of spare space too, like the room taken up by the droid repair centre, which could be used for a more realistic room if desired. 2008 was a long time ago in Lego terms, and loads of new elements and techniques and colours have been released since. Hopefully it's just a facelift for the set as mentioned before, and those happy with 10188 can easily update it for minimum expense, or leave it be and still have it looking fine.
