  1. well, to be honest, i'm not really waiting for a multi-moc like this; i appreciate apo's work for this, but some communication before hand would have easily showed that most members are not eager to get involved in this... and let's be honest, it wasn't a tremendous success last year either before it was entirely cancelled for other reasons. At that point i was concerned about not having a multi-moc, because what else would we be talking about or do, but in the end, it turned out that we had plenty of other things to do and say, so nobody even mentioned the multi moc or lack of it... i think that will happen this time as well. there are so many people coming to the event and we all have so many transactions to do that we'll have our hands full even without staring at mocs...
  2. i can't wait to see ice age 2 8-
  3. think i'd go for a bucket. some are filled with orange, green,... bricks
  4. that's a great review of a great set! i have one but i may be buying a few more later on. however, it doesn't walk very well with these hinges, does it?
  5. hehe ... it's a belgian idea :'-( it was first used at the eurosong for kids event in Hasselt, Belgium last year. ... yeah yeah yeah, just shoot me! :-D
  6. i think it's very nice! here's the solution for Phes' confusion: after the collapse of the roman empire in egypt, several other Middle Eastern factions took over the rule of Egypt, i don't know if he was called Sultan or Kalif or whatever, but they did try to use the classic Egyptian buildings to their own image/advantage. So sure, i can see a muslim leader in a classic Egyptian tower. Besides, in Egypt, there are no different time frames, really, u just take whatever brick you can find to build your new house, even if that's a part of a pyramid
  7. hehe belgium only won once... "j'aime la vie" by Sandra Kim, a truly terrible song :-( in fact, she even sang "Le vie" instead of "la vie" cos she wasn't sure of the gender of the word *wacko* oh well, she quietly disappeared in to the history books... X-D However, it seems Belgium is major candidate this year, so perhaps we'll win this year... i don't think the question here is the language. France, UK and Germany haven't won that much thru out the years, so understanding the song doesn't seem to be that important. Holland , on the other hand, did very well during the first 15 years or so, even tho dutch isn't well known either. And belgium doesn't automatically give lots of point to Holland or the other way around, even tho we practically speak the same language... But you're right, Eastern European countries vote for each other. i think the problem here is that there are large numbers of hungarians for instance, in other Eastern European countries, and they're manipulating the votes from the countries they're living in, in favour of the Hungarian candidate... In any case, it spoils the fun for me. If there's anything i prefer to watch of Eurosong it's giving the points. and now it seems i'm not even allowed to see that, because Greece has decided to only show the three best of all rankings! >:-(
  8. Gelukkige verjaardag! we'll assume you get lots of lego...
  9. *wacko* *wacko* *wacko* what are you talking about? *wacko* *wacko*
  10. this is one of the problems of Eurosong and why so many people hate it these days. you get neighbours giving high votes to each other not because they like the song but they're related. Greece-cyprus is an excelent example!
  11. think the ice train looks weird like this. only one coach that is even shorter than the two locs... yeah... a bit disappointed...
  12. a complaint i often hear from shopkeepers is that lego produces too many different themes in a year; Perhaps they've decided to streamline the lines, less themes, but more sets per theme. at least, that's what i'm hoping... however, perhaps they're just "making some room" in the catalogue for pirates in 2007... i also think, and i guess that's what some one stated before, that a theme with two minifig factions fighting each other, has a greater longevity compared to one faction fighting beasts...
  13. to answer another one of your questions, pirate, i found them in a small toyshop with lots of playmobil but hardly any lego. actually, i hadn't planned to visit the shop, i was just going for a walk in the park when i suddenly decided to go there and check it out. i left with a bill of 51 euro... :'-(
  14. yep that's the one! they were hidden behind a series of ZNAP (or something) sets, and a few older duplo pirate sets... unfortunately, there was nothing else of the pirates anymore... all gone now... perhaps i should have gone for 2 instead of 3, but i guess 12euro for a misb pirate set is a always a good investment....
  15. hehe... are you a dyslexic pirate, phes? unfortunately, it's not 6265 but 6256, a smaller islanders set; but i wish it was 6265!
  16. bought a second ambulance for 7euro and three 6256 pirate sets, 12 euro...
  17. added 6256 to the collection today. i was so surprised they still had those that i bought all three of them. i guess i'll open 1 and keep the other in misb condition
  18. great find! i like the set , especially the blue truck! why can't they produce these small sets for city? :'-)
  19. the starfighter was the best sw 2005 set in my book. however, i'm not a fan the vulture droid that i didn't even bother to build... the price was/is high though: 27
  20. I think "hit" would be a relative term. They probably sold them all, but the total numbers made I believe were quite small in comparison to more mainstream sets. They were in my TRU once, filled the shelves, and after the shelves were depopulated, they were never restocked. The real success of a line is how it does over a period of several months on the shelves. However, the 2005 financial statement did specifically mention that Vikings were a hit, so I predict they will push further with this line. 1) the financial statement was peptalk. i'd like to see the sales numbers. However, i do know it didn't sell spectacularly in france and belgium. in fact, those viking sets were the only ones to stay around thru out the year. Very often, everything else was gone except vikings. Right now they're even having a discount for the viking sets, hoping to get rid of it... in my experience, it did not sell greatly... 2) this reminds me of what happened to the last alpha team: 1 wave, followed by two other sets, that was it! no 2nd wave, no follow up. i think vikings is headed in the same direction, even tho it may be nice to have a full wave. that would be a vey well kept secret!
  21. both are very nice and if the price is low enough they'll be used to build armies, finally, after so many years... the wheels look great but also give a feeling of being too plastic. i guess i'll have to wait and see how they really look... Think i'll use them as engine parts... i don't care about the monsters. i never built them for the other viking sets either... most of the parts will go straight to the crappy parts bag... there's also a risk of having too similar lines. i mean, kk may be a castle line, essentially, i feel it's not that difficult to replace the vikings with castle knights and soldiers.... maybe that's why lego will probably not continue wave 1 with wave 2.... or perhaps we just haven't seen the rest of the sets yet...
  22. lego has had several sets with female nurses or doctors in the past: 6309;6301;606-1;6629-1; 6380;6364;6523 the position of lego to build a lego society with lego sets but with as few women as possible for commercial reasons shouldn't be accepted at all. they should even be condemned for it by women's organisations. No doubt, some bad press would do far more about this then yet another topic on EB, unfortunately... giving children certain "stereotypes" like nurse-woman, surveyor-man is in my point of view completely unnecessary.in fact, it's the other way around: we need to teach our children that everybody (male-female; black-white) is equal and has the right to take on any education he/she wants. the fact that we still have these stereotypical elements in our society is badly enough!
  23. i've seen this before. it's a copy of a drawing in comic book...
  24. what a weird story. first, they spend lots on money for this ad, and then, after 1 day they decide to get rid of it, and that's supposed to be planned? *wacko* *wacko* and then we say lego takes weird decisions *wacko*
