  1. yep I would. Besides, there's no quality check or anything, it doesn't have to be candidate for a Pulizer or a Nobel prize. I think Yoda exagerated just a little bit. Do what you want to do with your review, but it would be nice if it's more than just a series of photos, that's all... and it seems they're keeping castle forum active, so you won't hear me complain...
  2. your mod looks waaaaay much better then the original stuff 8-
  3. i also think you may want to add where and what kind of building you want to position on your layout. For instance, where are you going to put your train station for passengers and where would you place your station for cargo trains? I'd also try to add a bridge. that's always fun to build! :-D
  4. We're seeing lots of reviews these days on EB, which is very good! :-) However, may i ask to all of you who are thinking of doing any in the future: 1) Check to see if there isn't already a review of the set you're reviewing. If so, please add your contribution to the already existing topic 2) Be creative if you can. Posting pictures of a set, claiming it's a review, is not really what we're hoping for. EB is not a Brickshelf gallery, it's a forum for people to talk about sets, mocs, ... So add comments, thoughts, remarks, whatever, just do something with the photos you're posting... 3) try to take photos of the details you're talking about. We can't really add much if you're talking about a cockpit interior with only photos of the exterior...
  5. I also think the cog would win. sure, a longboat (we call them "Drakar", btw, even though no one seems to know where that comes from; it's clearly not an original dutch word and the danes don't seem to know the word either) is fast but to my knoledge is not a "real" battleship, and more like the cog, a transport vessel. Besides, the longboat needs to have manpower to move around, so who's going to do the fighting? I guess it also depends on the position at sea, close to shore or somewhere on the Atlantic. My guess is that the longboat probably wouldn't even survive a trip to the Atlantic, let alone go to battle.
  6. She loves sorting?! 8-
  7. happy birthday yoda! i have no doubts that you'll be celebrating this by buying lego for yourself...
  8. in fact, the truck is the one element I really , really, really like about this train set! So Lego still has designers who are able to produce these small trucks and cars... Now we only have to tell them we want these as seperate town sets! Sure, it'll take us a few more years to get them that far, but at least it's something! X-D
  9. most impressive! Tell me, Apo, I can clearly see there's no instruction book included! How did you assemble this set? did you find the instructions on line? X-D No set number eh? Maybe it's a Kabaya set, or whatever it's name is! i think it's a fake though! Look at the pirate's only hand! Is that how a minifig holds his sword? I don't think so! looks like you've been cheated by Megablocks! X-D
  10. Yep, Windsor also has a firefighting game even though slightly different to the Billund game. In the coming responses to this post, you might get different "point of views" as how this game went on in Windsor... a bit like the Kennedy assassination, really, everybody has wild theories about who did what, what went wrong,... But this is what really happened, more or less... as far as I can remember... anyway, this time there were three teams: The Danish-Swedish combo team: tt,copmike, ras and Kim. :-( :-( Yep, Ras left the Billund team of international super stars to join the dark side! >:-( >:-( >:-( I'll deal with you in Germany next year, you traitor!! The international team of Super Stars: yoda, Jon, Captaintau , I think, and myself :-) :-) The Belgo-Austrian team: Mr. and Mrs. Hobbes and Khorne, if I'm not mistaken... I may have mixed up Khorne and Captaintau... In that case, it would be British-Austrian team, instead of Belgo-Austrian team, because a Belgo-Ausrian team without Belgians wouldn't make any sense... *wacko* anyway, there was controversy, conspiracy and confusion before we'd even started. First, nobody knew whether we'd walk to the car or run and start pumping to get the damn moving asap! and when all the teams finally got in, the Danish-Swedish immediately started spreading rumours and filthy lies about the Super Star team. >:-( >:-( They accused the team of International Gods that they'd started pumping before the sign, giving them a head start... Lies, I tell you! >:-( The Danes and Swedes were obviously trying to intimidate not only the other team, but also the cute referee >:-( To cut a long story short... I think... the danish-swedish team arrived back just a little millisecond before us. Just a fraction of time, really... You wouldn't even see the difference on photo... they obviously cheated! >:-( they've probably been practising in Billund for an entire year. Or did you guys really think Ras went to Canada to work, a few weeks back? Basecamp Billund, I say! Day in day out, 24-7! and Kim? Haven't you guys noticed he's hardly been around on EB for quite some time? Where do you think he was, eh? I'll you: Basecamp Billund! However, I do remember very clearly what happened afterwards, when we got on the dino roller coaster... austrians, belgians, french, Swedes, even... all were there! Even 8 year old girls got a ride in the coaster! but where the heck were the Danes? No danes to be found... megablock their pants! i say! Scared to death!! I'm sure some Swede suggested the Danes to be chickens... *sad*
  11. i just built the Fury i got earlier from Kim at the event... and... hm... -I guess it has great playability... however, it seems to me that playability is severely limited by these hinges that are waaaaay too strong. they're not flexible because of it... the arms are also far too short, so you can't "wave" your sword... -the canon in the middle looks cool, but it doesn't rotate -the big canon looks a bit flumsy as well. In fact, the grey piece at the front isn't fixed very well. The light hose is a nice feature but i think they could have done a better job with it... -the instructions are once again not very good. the trans-red cones for instance, are fully red in my book and lego still seems to be unaware of the black/dark grey mix up... honestly, i feel this set has no balance in playability/quality of design. It doens't convince me. I'll just use the parts for other things...
  12. you missed belgium, TT >:-( >:-( :-P
  13. - thanks to JON for the minifigs and the boxes. The latter weren't cut up, that was a very nice surprise :-D - to KIM for the exo force sets! I'd never find the sets in Belgium for 7 euro a piece! - to Yoda, Apo/Aredhel, Hobbes for the trades - a special thanks to Copmike not only for the keychain, the helmet and the other parts, but also for his great commercial talent think that's it...
  14. - i got 5 cars and two engines of the santa f
  15. that's pretty nice! However, i'm hoping for your sake that little jofsson is not going to "request" you do other Mocs as well, like an entire city, the moon, atlantis,... :-P and no, i also don't know what this thing does. Perhaps it's involved in the construction of the tracks?

    new plane?

well if it's a promo set then i guess there's a contract between lego and the company involved. it seems the 2003 promo plane for Austria is still available, so why wouldn't a 2004 promo plane be available? can't find it on US SAH tho...
  17. well, Brick Miner is right, these sets are extremely rare, so 160$ is a logical result. I wouldn't do it either, but then, i'm not really a western fan... I'm also not sure if ebay is a good source if you're not prepared to go "all the way". Ebay is well known by know and many fans are probably searching the site on a daily basis... One question, tho: when did the bidding really start? Was it an hour before closing or sooner?
  18. happy birthday mate! hope you have a great day! you still have 1 hour to enjoy it! and then it's a looooong year of waiting again :-P :-P
  19. well, i'm not sure pirates sold very well either. I don't have any statistics on sales and, i'm afraid to say, i'm not always right on observations of current sales... :-$ However, I do think a pirates theme has more chances of becoming popular because it's politically neutral, basically harmless and all you need is a great actor like Johnny Depp to bring it back alive... Western sets are highly priced because there's high demand, i don't know if they're popular with the general lego fan... I mean, the production number was quite low and the production run was rather short, so in any case, supply on the 2nd hand market will be quite low, pushing price up. so maybe you have a relatively small group of die hard fans who are willing to spend quite a lot of money on them, like you, for instance...
  20. hehe you scared me for a second :-$ hope you have a great week and meet you in windsor... with your set...
  21. Is it really that bad? I've had my eye on the Ice Planet stuff for a while now, and I intend to get it all eventually (my dark ages started at about the same time IP2002 came out; I loved the sets but somehow got distracted and never got any of the big ones). :\ well it's got great playability and there are some very nice gadgets on it but the model doesn't look very well, compared to lots of space ships of the past... it's an orginal theme, but lego's approach and designs aren't top of the line... ;-) hehe i'd keep an eye on the space forum next month if i were you... ;-)
  22. i bought set 6973, it's a large ice planet 2002 starship this is a truely awefull ship. why did I buy this?
  23. be carefull there, admins have a tendency to change titles when members turn out to be too happy with them... ;-)
  24. well how many traditional wild west films of the last 20 years do you remember? At best, you get these highly critical or alternative movies like "dances with wolves" or "Brokeback mountain"... Besides, few producers of wild west toys, culture in whatever form, feel comfortable with the classic element of the theme: cowboys <-> indians... Lego and Europe are no different, they're probably even more critical about American history than ever before...
  25. Because they didn't do very well in Europe? The wild west theme in general doesn't seem very popular anymore, so why would it be any different with lego sets?
