g... where did i leave that contract again? X-D they did do "life on Mars" during the sw years, so i don't think there's a clausule excluding Space as long as sw is around... But if you do want a reference, i suggest you call lego and ask for a copy of the contract!

Least successful Lego line/set (Galidor excl.)

Clickits YES! ZNAP Yes! Explore Yes, especially those silly musical thingys Galidor - I'd never even heard of it until I saw some of the dolls in the Legoland Windsor clearance tent! Fabuland, but they seem to go for quite a bit on ebay, so maybe they were protected by their low numbers. Basketball! - what was the point of that in europe? I don't think scala or belville (or paradisa for that) were ever produced in huge numbers, so their rarity has ensured the price remained fairly high (even though I don't think they were worth the price). Certainly I find it difficult to pick up good belville sets for my daughter, in fact we have only ever seen 1 set in the sales & got that then & there, & have you seen the 2nd hand prices on ebay! As for the future, well who knows, at this rate they will probably pick up a few dodgy licenses, but just because the kids don't like them doesn't mean they are not good parts packs. (Regrets not getting more of the original star wars sets when they were reduced after christmas 3 or so years ago after over production) Jof i always liked Fabuland. I only had this bear, i believe it was, on a motorcycle, but my neice had quite a collection. Unfortunately, the theme was a bit boring... we have several Belville sets here on a constant basis. I think it's even increasing in numbers. It seems many lego fans buy the sets for the parts, not sure what they do with the rest tho. I think the idea behind basket ball was "let's give this to europe as well, they're buying anything anyway". For any european, however, it was clear that Europe would not buy this. In any case, shops are still stuck with these sets ... -
i'm watching rambo 3 on tv. it's hilarious! one guy taking out helicopters whilst driving a tank, shooting at it with a classic shotgun :-P :-P :-P ah... dreadful film, but had a good laugh...

insectoids was like most space themes before they disappeared from the radar, limited to one year only, so it's quite normal if you haven't heard much of it on EB. That'll soon change, btw... ;-) life on Mars was part of space but obviously not good enough to make a very good impression, even tho i like several smaller sets a lot... i wouldn't consider znap to be a "lego line". it only has the same producing company... I've heard of galidor, but never seen it, it seems i'm the lucky one here :-P One particular theme that i never liked at all, was Roboforce. Roboforce was a space theme of only 4 crappy sets, all more or less in the shape of robots and the minifigs weren't spectacular either, not to say very bad... http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catType=S&catID=307 unfortunately, space wasn't doing very well back then (1997). they tried to relaunch it with UFO but that also wasn't very great ... -
nono gyl, i was refering to opened and used sets, anyway, not that important...

2) bricklink prices are 25-50% higher than ebay for Lego sets. That seems to mean that you will get more for your Lego but there are caveats. First, bricklink buyers expect complete sets. They will be mighty pissed off about obvious substitutions. They are lego fans and care about the sets more than the average eBay buyer. i don't know how you guys come to this conclusion. The not so popular sets may be lower in price but the sets i bid on normally end up at least as high as on BL. Just the other day i bid on the M-tron 6 wheeler. It started at 34 euro and went up all the way to 85. i stopped the bidding there or it would have gone to 100 no doubt, for a second hand set, btw! that's more than your average BL price for that set... my second bid was a large spyrius robot. i stopped at 36 euro, because i knew i could easily find a brand new robot on BL for just a few dollars more... Phes mentioned the 4 MISB pirate sets for a "Buy now" price of 190 euro. that was practically the same price as BL. Sure, you can buy two "200 jets" for 28 euros or so on Ebay, sure a nice price, but without the instruction books and the box. You're better off buying the parts on BL and build it yourself.

i guess the first question is: are you interested in getting the best price possible or are you happy with a fair price, based on current prices on bricklink, in order to just get rid of them? if you want to just get rid of them, you might want to try and post the set numbers and prices here. some of us have a Bricklink shop or may just be interested in negociating with you. then i guess everything is possible, you can try and get sets sold per theme, but if you want to get rid of as much as possible then selling in groups may not be such a bad thing. You're the seller, you make the suggestions and start negociations... You can also put everything in one huge lot on ebay and just hope a few people are willing to spend a lot of money on it. However, it's not the best moment of the year to sell lego. it's rather quiet and i think many are saving some money for upcoming sets and town sets of the 90's aren't the most popular around either... Second, if you're going to sell sets seperately, you need to find out what sets are popular and how high/low you can set your price. Bricklink.com is a good source for that. usually, i go for the average price, after all, most people here are aware of lego prices, so you won't be able to sell very much if you're price is too high... Ebay can also be a good place, especially for popular sets, but i do think they need to be complete if you want to get the most out of them...

1) never heard of this lego mag, never seen any reference to it in a shop, so i guess it's not all that big of a deal... 2) why don't you ask your lego France source, yoda? if any one knows what's going on, it's her 3) if there's a Belgian, magazine, kiku , then i think it's a bilangual mag, in french and dutch at the same time, as is the case with the catalogue

i bought three smaal sets today: the sw vulture droid; a small rockraider set and something castle... they were all 30% off, otherwise i wouldn't have bought them and they surely won't be opened for at least a year...
-
at least the Blokkers in Belgium do not always carry the same sets at the same prices. i'll have a look as well...
-
yep you're right! :-$ Are you surprised to see that he still hasn't sold those sets, pirate? as you indicated, $190 is a fair price and pirate collectors must have seen this by now... is it because "pirates" is less attractive than before or did he just pick the wrong moment the year?
-
i believe they used to print "use box for storage" on the inside of the box, many years ago... at least you didn't have to damage them in order to get them open....
-
maybe it's still to be released... parts look interesting, tho
-
there's also a difference in time of about 20 years, so it's no surprise to see different models as well...

First trip to Legoland Windsor of 2006

thanks a lot for this, jof! can't wait to get there!! 8- -
yep, or just plates. all you'd need to do is place them in the shape of a "V", or if your ship isn't too big, as you indicated, you can always use the classic space 4x4 wings... in my experience, lego bricks don't allow angled wings very much when you're building large ships, like the size of a grey baseplate, but for small ships, i'd say you have lots of options...
-
Won't this only go up in cost as the people with ridiculously large collections of Oldgrey start freaking out and buying large amounts of oldgrey to keep their collection at a mighty size? But than again, people like me may consider selling their old grey once more pieces are released in Bley (particularily castle walls and weapons). I actually like Bley quite a bit... although it looks kinda bad with green... maybe I just have to get used to it... old grey has been in production for so many years and the number of old grey fans sticking to old grey isn't that high i think, so i don't expect an increase in price, i think most people will simply accept reality and move on... in the end bl shopowners will even have to dump their old grey because nobody is interested in it anymore

ah true pirate, but then, you have 5 days to go on ebay! let's see next week! :'-(

First trip to Legoland Windsor of 2006
snefroe replied to jof's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
I will try, But it sort of depends on the kids (& the mrs's) patience. They don't wear an anorak & carry a notebook of all parts ever made downloaded from peeron/lugnet (see I am not that bad, I can't remeber which one) i'd be happy if you could just have quick look if there are special parts next to the usual plates and bricks, if it's bionicle mostly or anything. i wouldn't ask you to waste valuable time on writing everything down... -
thanks people... *sweet* pfeeewwww ... i can finally stop kissing their behinds.... oops ... am i still online? 8-| pull the plug!! quick!! X-D

i'd be grateful if you could also check what parts there are in the pick a brick shop... that will give us some idea about what to expect -
ouch... 190 dollars! hm... i paid 25 euros for the largest set without the box... that's enough for me... suppose you buy them seperately at BL, wouldn't you be better off?

just talked to yoda about this and he suggested CIF, which is a cleaning product. i just did a test and it works, but i wouldn't recommend it because you create miniscule scratches on your plastic. so you're better of using "javel" as we in belgium call it. it's a natural chemical product you can find in your regular grocery shop... it's also in cif so it seems every cleaner based on javel would work. It won't damage the plastic... for the grey bricks, i'd say decrease your dosage or use cif, that way you can control the process in "real time". To my knoledge, cif has never "worked" hours after having been applied... it is time consuming tho...
