i've never seen the cards before, but the ice bricks are really cool :-P

aren't those supposed to be dark blue? these look like regular blue parts to me aren't those supposed to be dark blue? these look like regular blue parts to me MrSheep, could you take a pic of this in natural (sun)light, so we can see the actual colours?

i agree with your remark on the wings. you can clearly see that the second attatchment is not what we'd call perfectly connected. i've quickly built a replica of it and it seems to me that the pressure is on the bricks, not the clips; it's obviously caused by the fact that the two attatchments aren't alligned as they normally should... in fact, you even see the pressure on the cylinders.... i disagree on your cockpit remark though. The head-on shot in his gallery shows that the pilot has a clear side forwards. Using the canopy backwards, gives the ship a more streamlined look... yep, this one is pretty cool as well. you don't expect to see many brown colored space ships in he universe, though. I guess that's the good side about lego's decision to expand on colour range. I think that could be a main advantage compared to the old space stuff. you not only have a higher diversity of bricks, but also colours... What i most like however, is the engine! that's a very fine engine indeed! 8-

I thought i'd post another space ship from Brickshelf here, basically just to point out two nice features: the black-yellow wings. at first i thought he used stickers, but they actually are made with bricks... It looks kinda weird, but i like it second: the gray cilinder and the sw canopy fit together pretty nicely. sure, it's a SNOT design again and it's probably not very originel, but it's cool it's not mine, btw

well... the model itself is crap, really... it's basically a "reshuffled" "Star Voyager" and I wouldn't buy that for more than

i found this Ebay offer yesterday 8-

yes, the islanders !!! i agree, though (as much as i hate to admit it) the islanders were a much better sub-theme to the pirates, than the indians were to the WW.still, the painted horses of the indians are very VERY cool!!! im glad you enjoy the WW theme dJOLe_sk8. thanks for sharing, and feel welcome to participate in its discussion here !!! and by the way, welcome to EuroBricks !!! - BrickMiner The indians were a great asset for the Wild West theme, but, as we mentioned in another topic a while back, I think Lego decided not to take that path in order to avoid political trouble. But that also makes Wild West in general problematic. After all, how can you create a decent theme if you can't base it on "cowboys and indians"? I guess they couldn't find an answer to that and dropped the line all together...

i also used to have lots of problems with this clip when i was playing with lego as a kid. Back then you very often had to put an antenna thru it, which was rather difficult to do. Getting it in wasn't that hard, though, it was getting the antenna out of it later on that was a very hazardous job... and yep, very often the clip just broke... that's why they redesigned the clip, making the ring stronger than on the older one... It's like the old space helmets, really.... the front section of those things cracked very easily, so they changed it a few years later as well...

i'm curious... so what did you guys get in the 80's? did you get Classic space, town, trains... anything?
-
tt told me he paid 400 kr if i'm not mistaken for about 4 kg... divide by 6 and you get the euro price... No doubt, this is one of the reasons why Legoland Billund is so attractive: if you're lucky, you'll find really great stuff at the pab... Maybe I should go back this year... *sweet*

I agree. i think you need a minifig vs minifig theme if you want it to be of any interest to kids. I don't expect kids to use the serpent to fight the poor vikings, they'll most likely build a second ship with more vikings or other minifigs. i just hope they won't follow the same procedure when or if they ever produce a pirate line... i think that would seriously screw up the line... yeah, i was very mad at TT last night when he showed me his picture with this red bucket filled with goodies, but i'm over the shock now... This was, btw, not the regular pab, but the huge box they fill every night/morning with parts from unsold or out of production sets... at least i think so...

What shields? The decorated radar dishes or the old technic part? As for the tan masts - I'd get rid of those too if I was LEGO. This isn't a sure sign that they'l drop the theme. Maybe they have something better in store than more longboats with tan masts ;-) I surely don't hope that they'll drop this their best non-licensed theme in years :'-( KimT yep, i was refering to those 4x4 radar discs, but i also saw the dark red 4x4 disc from the longboat in it...
-
still, we're seeing more and more signs that vikings will have been dropped by 2007. yesterday TT showed me a photo with the parts he found in the Billund PAB and there was lots of vikings stuff in it, like 4x4 viking shields, the tan masts,... It's as if they're getting rid of all the left overs...

well, the thing is NOT to spend too much money on electricity, petrol, heating, telephone, ...
-
i agree... chances are that in just a few years time we'll see a serious decline in demand... I would only keep MISB sets as investment for just a very sets, like the old X-wing, the MF, ... unfortunately they're all opened and parts are scatered all over the place... :-$

nonono i like it... what makes this look weird is that the arms are waay back compared to the legs, but it's a nice change from the usual exo robots
-
I don't see why so many people feel 1000 dollars on lego in a year is so much money... I've got friends who spend much much much more on their hobbies. some go Scuba diving, others buy M

I think the result is quite clear though: a majority wants other options for a new UCS... Let's hope that's also lego's conclusion...

what does this mean... "limited production" ???anyone else have any comments on bricklink and the prices of these torsos ??? it means it won't be available in most regular shops, so even though it may be selling pretty well through SAH, it will still be produced in smaller numbers, making the production run fairly limited...

World cup rules for (female) significant others
snefroe replied to Vader's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I guess it would be like tennis: they usually only show the games of their own American players/team(s), thinking only hardcore fans are interested in the other, very often, much more exciting games. They're assuming that real fans have cable with at least one sports dedicated station. Not a week goes by without American tennis fans complaining about this lack of airtime on tv in any sports magazine you can think of... -
:-P 100? you're counting backwards, kiku? from 1600 to 0? :-P anyway, at least 10 accounts have scrapped, other have been banned. we could easily get another 200 in a few days time...
-
well i'd have to say that people here are still in "tennis-mode", especially since belgium isn't in the championships for the first time since 1974 or something... so it's kinda difficult to get in the mood for it... also, germany is waaaay too close to Belgium. Yep, that seems, somehow, relevant. after all, we got used to these exotic countries like Mexico and Japan-Korea, the notion that you had to stay awake thru out the night if you wanted to see most of the games... You know, just watching a football game at 5.30 or so before going to work... i'm also a bit scared that it's again badly timed. Many of the superplayers will be very tired because of the regular season and the champion's league. remember france last time? anyway, who will win? My guess is Brazil but i'm mostly hoping for lots of surprises, good games and great goals...
-
well it's a good start! maybe you should now change the cockpit a little, so you really have your own moc? i think Apo created a tutorial to change the size of your pics...

just bought an ice planet set from ebay... and a few catalogues from 1979-1983... i lost those when i was still very young... it'll be great to get those in my hands :-$ and oh yes! thanks to Vader i was able to bid on a few very cheap insectoid sets... hehe ... i'm not sure i actually won these bids, but i do hope so... Vader, where are you when I need you? :-P :-P
