  1. *wub* *wub* *wub* this is the mother of all space buggies! and probably the best sold space set ever. it had a production run of 5 years which was really a lot for any small set. It was also 'the universal' set: you had a version of it in several other sets, like the galaxy explorer, and it was so easy to build multiples of it. i bought a boxed one not so long ago and i was very surprised to see how small the box actually was. Quite a difference with today's sets... one day i'll buy myself a new one if they're still available... :-$ ah... and you'll need to replace the helmet as well... this one looks like one of the improved helmets of later days

    pretty cool! 8-
  3. an ambassador posted this on 'Classic space' a few days back on behalf of the Lego Group; Maybe the car freaks among us who are no member there would like to have some input as well...
  4. well i remember that Lego used to say that you can easily wash your bricks in a classic laundry machine if you'd wrap the bricks in a towel, so they wouldn't damage the machine...
  5. yeah they're great 8-
  6. well at first he asked 125 on the WW scene but then we agreed on 100 because of the stickers and a few other things. he did mention some one else was interested or thought of buying it, but in the end didn't. i wouldn't say it's over priced though, considering the price of the set on bl. they did say the other guy bought other sets, was that you by any chance? and if so, what did you buy? the police station was 30euro. he's keeping it for me untill next week though, cos I didn't have enough cash with me to buy everything. I did have a good look at it, the box and the plastic inside are still in great shape, even though normally i wouldn't buy for 30euro in there. Usually, i'm just shopping there to see if they have larger boxed sets of the old days, very often that's not the case, then i'm just buying one or more of the smaller sets in those plastic boxes on the lower shelves. sometimes they get larger sets as well, sure, without the box, but it's most definitely cheaper than ebay or bl...
  7. bought nr 600; 799; 365 and 6386... gonna stare at them for the rest of the evening. then they'll be put into the big plastic box for a while...
  8. hehe nice mods! it now only needs a viking helmet on top , then it'll be perfect for people like you :-P
  9. because they're boring and not attractive to kids... personally, i don't see why people like them, really. they very often are only impressive in terms of size, but usually lack any interior and aren't a huge challenge in terms of building, compared to copying a classic building like a cathedral
  10. :-D yeah... sw was going strong back then with first generation snowspeeders, MF's,... you name it. I also think it looked more like spaceport/town than space, so many spacers were not happy with it. The colours were most likely also not the best choice (some had this almost pink-like colour!). i guess we, spacers, prefer the classic colours for our space ships... We simply didn't connect with Life on mars... Still, i'm keeping several sets MISB, so i can just take them in my hands, stare at them from time to time, curse every one who comes near them and put them back in their plastic box afterwards... :-$ :-X indeed! :-X yeah... however, I think space has a good chance of finding its own spot in between. many people of the community are spacers. they even have several websites only about space, 'classic space' being the largest I think. It also has such a monumental history that many non-spacers will buy space sets because of childhood memories... Much will depend on distribution of the sets in the (smaller) shops, though. If the entire theme appears in the shops then people will buy them. After all, many adults and kids are attracted to space toys, it's only a question of availabilty/visibilty. My guess is that it will sell if they launch it at around this time of the year next year...
  11. well i guess we can only speculate as for now :'-( Still, i think it would be a logical approach to start from life on mars, that way it'll stay from away from sw, however, they could easily add a 'swooshabilty' factor: instead of crappy planes and robots, some great space ships... but i agree, it is sorta confusing...
  12. i think it means they used life on mars as some sort of starting point where ever style/design is concerned
  13. just read this post on Classic Space from a guy called 'Filmmakerpaul': hm... 'life on mars' was not the very best theme if you're asking me
  14. welcome! our number of female members is really increasing here *sweet* ! btw, house 4886 is a great start for a new hobby!
  15. what i don't understand is their 'top 25 hit list' . 'it's updated daily', they say, so was there a starting point, like august the first or something, or do they just create a new list every day? What's the point in giving us a hit list if we don't get the right info to analise the statistics for ourselves... :-|
  16. g... how could that have slipped my mind? must be getting old... :-X ah the playmo set... :-X
  17. hilarious! X-D
  18. and i believe you already have a duplo cow! :-P :-P :-P
  19. i guess they're selling these houses in the creator theme to compensate for the lack of houses in 'city', and yep, it looks very nice, however, a normal tree would have been welcome... a car and a few minifigs and we have classic lego house...
  20. i don't think AT (at least the yellow sets) was that bad, in fact, it has a special spot in my heart because it was part of the lego sets/themes that brought me back. i loved those minifigs, computers, rotors... compared to the old Aquaraiders, with which i always compared AT, AT was so much more sofisticated... the fact that i loved or hated AT doesn't have any effect on what i think of the current line, even though they should have created the AR sets the first time around...
  21. don't have the game, rickard? surely you can use that?
  22. damn! i can't go .. >:-( :-X have fun! :-)
