well these sets remind me of these: the last one looks more like a modern divers set, but that's ok, it's stylish, it's got great details and the model looks great, stickers or not... -
yep! that's a good example of one of the things i had in mind as well *sweet* great ship, btw i'd say that as well... but people coughcoughDouble t coughcough would call me a cinic or sceptic or worse :-P

well i'm experimenting a bit with space models and bionicle parts for the moment. i find that several parts, like the feet and the old masks, are detailed enough to be part of a model. i'll see if i can show you what i mean in a few days...

October is the month in which high season starts. it means that shops usually clear out the entire warehouse and put everything they still have in the shop. Sometimes you find sets of a certain age. last year i found a few first generation tie fighters. unfortunately, my hunt was not so very successful this year. i only found an arctic set 6520 and some older pods. to compensate for the disappointment, i also bought some smaller bionicle things and a new viking set...

i don't think it's just a question of law, it's also a question of people's state of mind. Take Belgium; we've had several child abuse cases in the last couple of years that really shook the foundation of our democracy. So any reference as in this set to children and sexuality will not be ignored or just interpreted as 'bad taste', to us, this is highly sensitive stuff... A Belgian public opinion would surely want Lego Belgium to take steps if this were just a Belgian case... i guess it's also a question of how the company regards these things. Maybe George Lucas wouldn't mind if these two lego figs had been replaced by action figures, one being a 6 year old and the other Han Solo, but i think many companies in Belgium would go after the creator, not to get him jail time, but to get at least a symbolic sentence, like doing community work... i don't think it has anything to do with raising your kids as such. obviously, you do not grant access to porn,... but how difficult is it to type 'lego' on google, click on EB and see it here? does the fact that a kid has access to EB make you a bad or problematic parent? i don't think so... i don't care about the set as such, the extra element here is the clear association with the Lego brand that makes the difference. i think it's up to the Lego company to make it very clear that their brand name cannot be used in association with sets of a sexual content... for that, yep, they should regard this as a crime, not because of the content (there is a freedom of opinion/speech) but because he gets lego involved in it...

i don't think so, honestly. Lego's first concern is how their customers will react to this type of 'sets' when they're distributed through the Internet. It's a potential risk to the company's reputation. How, for instance, would a parent react if his/her child shows this 'set' to him/her? Lego could easily get lots of complaints from people thinking it actually is an official set, after all, people are stupid and will think it's a Lego set because it says so... The same happens with 'underground versions' of comic books like 'Tintin in Tirol' or something in which Tintin is fooling around with a zillion other heroes. Authors of those are getting prosecuted on a regular basis, not so much because of the copyright, but because the damaging content... Nope, this does not have anything to do with racism, muslims or whatever. it's a commercial thing...

hm... there's some logic in there, Yoda, however, Lego doesn't work that way... Besides, what makes you think the license for the tv series is in the current license?
-
g... you've been buying lots and lots of big sw sets since you're on this board. Did you just won the lottery or something? :-P

i was kinda wondering about the masts, because BM's pic didn't show any... how 'bout the cannons?
-
thanks! i made a book with 1000's of serial numbers for pods, i usually pick a few out of that, unfortunately, I don't have 1000's of pods... :'-( :-X *sing* and ah... the printing of these serials is fairly expensive as well... :-X
-
So I finally got permission to take some pictures of the pods involved in high classified operations, specialised and night missions,

g, man! what took you so long? :-P

we're not expecting classic space stuff, really, we just want quality space sets ;-)

happy birthday!

1) yoda's right! i would be getting a heart attack! :-P :-X Lego wouldn't confirm a space theme for 2008. they're scared to death about giving this kind of info so far ahead. their competition would simply counter the theme. Besides, it was always said that the ambassador program would seriously be stepping in from 2007 onwards. We know that the ambassadors did in fact advice Lego on the Space theme and the new castle theme, whatever that may be. The puzzle just fits, really; Lego is working on some sort of restoration operation it seems; they're bringing back to life the themes that once were highly successful. 2)the post in classic space was clear: next year: Space 3) it seems Lego wants to keep this a secret... for now.... wouldn't you, if you know there's still several months to go before the actual release, just weeks before high season starts, when you want your customers to fully focuss on current sets? 4) some one else hinted that he may have seen the sets at brickfest i believe... if they already have the prototypes then we'll most likely be getting the real sets next year. who knows when... it seems to me that Lego releases new sets every few months... we'll see
-
i agree... i don't have anything against exo, but space should be closer to the stuff that the community produces and closer to the actual space subthemes than to exo... my female intuition, if i have any, tells me that it does... for some reason, i really do think it's going to be a great theme... now i'm hoping for a wave2 in 2008 :-P
-
hm... well didn't Lego state they are working with the police to find this person? they surely believe to can bring him to court. I'm guessing they can give him some community punishment, like Boy George in NY?
-
i can't imagine Lego to stop producing HP sets. soon we'll have a new film and the last book will create a huuge hype when it's released (isn't that next year?); the last hp film was a stunning success in terms of box office results, so it's not as if hp isn't successful anymore... it's just a question of what sets they'll produce. if they're lousy, then it won't sell.
-
well for instance, there is the use of their brand name that suggests this is an official set. surely they can build a high profile case in connection with the suggestion of child abuse. what is very important , is that they openly bring this guy to court and a judge punishes him appropriately.
-
:-X >:-( i hope they find the creator of this 'set' and turn this case into a 'clear warning' to any one else who's thinking of doing these type of 'creations'...
-
the ambassadors clearly stated it's Space, not city spaceport... 8-| i'm guessing we'll get some space ships and a space base, together with some monsters. it seems they're using the minifig-monster concept quite often these days, so why not? i just hope it's closer to space of the past than to exo force
-
*sweet* *sweet* *sweet* however, for the moment, i'm gonna try not to have high expectations, like a fantastic space theme with all the quality and details the best star wars sets in a 'classic space spirit' with no lousy catapults and great printed parts and minifigs, not to mention a space ship that rivals 'Explorer's' reputation and popularity and a star base as brilliant as the Blacktron 1 'Message intercept Base'. *wub* nope, I'm not gonna think that... :-P
