  1. well, honestly, everybody who visits my flat, simply can't ignore the Santa Fé train in the living room People seem to like that model, so that's a good way to introduce the subject. However, they dont see how bad the addiction actually is, since i never mension having any kind of "Lego room"... with A LOT more parts... colleagues at work know nothing of my hobby... i'm not sure if i can afford to have that knoledge made public, really. As far as the event went, i told most people that i went to London and more specifically Windsor and Sunningdale...
  2. i expect to come from Wednesday to Sunday.
  3. i really enjoyed the event as well Scouting for great bricks, buying sets to build later in the evening, having drinks whilst discussing Mike's building qualities,... no endless discussion on Star wars bounty hunters this year though in fact, without some real sw freaks, lego star wars wasn't much around, this year... I guess that'll change next year, when the Danes show up again... i also liked the morning swim, in a heated outdoors swimming pool... you kinda dont expect to do that in London, early June... still, i'm betting that's the reason why i'm sick in bed right now no doubt, "Satanic Black" will become a classic in event history... not to mention the other new word we picked up: "Skandi", meaning "all sorts of gibberish they speak once you're to the North of Holland and Germany"... i saw some old friends, missed Kim, Morten and Rickard quite a bit, but also made some new friends! Thanks every one, especially Tom and Mike, for a great event and i hope we'll see each other in Billund next year!
  4. hm... just one more day and i'm off to London! my train leaves at 10 in Brussels! hope the weather's any decent and i hope i can find you guys in London, running around from one place to another!
  5. sounds great!! i guess i'll go to the boards now and start catching up, otherwise i'll just be a very silent partner over there!
  6. sounds like a plan to me. maybe we could meet/gather in the city, get dinner over there and go together to the b&b...
  7. hm.... is that so? ok, he can have your bed then! at what time is everybody going to arrive? I'm thinking i'm gonna head into town, meaning London first, - do some shopping - and go to Windsor in the afternoon of the 1st of June.
  8. hey doctor! no idea how to get there, just yet! so if you go by car, i'd love to come with you. thanks for the offer! cheers sne
  9. hey guys... is there still some room left?
  10. well actually, i was also thinking about the b&b we had a few years back. i seem to remember that it was quite big. Still, my guess is it's already been contacted... there is a bus to the park from Windsor Castle, i believe
  11. hmmm... yet another MF. think most of sw fans have an entire fleet by now... i kinda like the pod racers though. they look quite detailed. the speeder looks fairly weird however...
  12. This is very sad news indeed! I didn't know Dieter very well, in fact, i only met him here, on EB, when we were exchanging posts... Still, it doesn't take you long to see he had a great impact on this communitity, though. He will not only be missed, but also remembered as a great guy and staff member. My condolences to the family and friends for their unexpected loss. Snefroe
  13. great review! i did see the set in the shops, a while back. i've no doubt that this is very good creator's box. i think the fighter is supposed to be a two-seat advanced trainer. they used to be red-white and without weapons. in any case, it's not that difficult to create weapons of your own... the boat is quite nice too
  14. weeeell... sure it's impressive ... because of it's size... essentialy , it's mosaic, it's a well known technique and even with fairly simple pc-programs you can create your own digital pattern for this... anyway, nice to see that Lego is getting more and more an instrument to (re)produce art, it's no longer just a toy...
  15. merry christmas everybody! i actually spent it on an operating table due to a broken wrist, but it's ok... quite different from the traditional ways of celebration, but i'll survive
  16. i went today. I nearly missed Tom though. He got in, when i got out and we didn't really recognize each other, that's what you get when you don't go to EB events every year anyway, we had some great talks with interesting people from Belug, we expanded our horizon just a little bit, which was great!
  17. hm... not that far away from Leuven. I'll see if i can come too on the 28th at about 2.
  18. thanks for a brilliant review! I must say, these creator houses are getting better and better. they used to be fairly simple, with hardly any detail and no figs. It seems they're evolving to something closer to "town" - subthemes, which is pretty great! true, we may need a 4x4 parked next to the house, but hey, most of us have bricks enough to fix that... ah yes, i'm also an old-timer in the Lego community, so i'm very glad to see the return of the classic hinge too!
  19. i think that would resolve the problem of maybe not having enough accomodations! i remember last time we went there. the group was quite large too and it was a long trip on foot... the discount tent made us all forget that, though!
  20. i'm surprised that lego allows you to talk about all of this, i must say. in any case, it would be weird if they wil allow you to talk about the stuff you're going to do from january onwards. didn't they tell you to calm down and to be more discrete? are you sure you're not getting into trouble by telling all of this?
  21. yep, the very essence of the set! however, i never really understood why they used those black tubes though... they were considered something from Space, not Castle, but i guess it does the trick...
  22. well i'm glad to see that space remains a theme for Lego in the next year(s), however, i'm not so much impressed by any of the sets.
  23. i am sooo glad you're back, mate! i remember the topic you made when you decided to leave EB, hoping to get a spot at Lego. We were all sorry to see you go, but agreed that if there was one guy who could acually make it, it would be you. Since then i often wondered if there had been an opportunity for you to convince Lego of your talent. Glad to read your story has a happy ending! I can only hope they recruited a "Far West freak" because they're planning a brand new Western theme for 2012!

    Seatron?

the sea monorail looks so incredible retro, it reminds me of the Lego 70s sets, really... especially the train looks fantastic a shame it never was released. Maybe the trouble with the production process of the motor had anything to do with this. oh well... i guess there are more hidden treasures in Lego's archive. i'd love to see the prototypes of the Galaxy Explorer, for one...
