well i never really liked him when i was kid... we had lots of other comics here so i didn't collect this series. I only got interested in tintin when i started to write comics of my own (which is almost a national hobby in Belgium), and whenever you go and look for writing/drawing techniques, you'll end up with the entire Tintin series. so my fascination for tintin is more like an appreciation for the genius behind it

looool i guess it's your wedding gift to yourself then! actually, it is surprising to see this small set reaching such high prices. sure, it's beauty, still... maybe you should take it to the event, so we can stare at it for the entire weekend! :-P got myself the 4886 bonanza building today. I was very surprised to see they still had this one, considering it's from 2004, but it's a nice set if you're into collecting houses... like me... since... yesterday... X-D

i'd say, go for this: Double room (Hobbes, 2 people, already booked) Double room (Holodoc, 2 people, already booked) Apartment (copmike/ras + 1 or 2 people, already booked) Apartment (3 or 4 people) Small family room (kimt/morten)

well i think they've adapted to the fairly large AFOL city/town fans who love this type of sets more than let's say the airport...

and you did forget the ATAT! >:-( :-P my guess is that they'll give us a turret, a gate that is supposed to look like a hangar, maybe some sort of control center and perhaps even the shield generator. maybe they'll add 2 tauntauns, but that will include yet another han and Luke... X-O there's got to be a rebel pilot somewhere, leia, two - four snowtroopers and lord vader

:'-) yep it was me! you have a very good memory, Pirate! and yes, i still have to buy one... I'm afraid it's not all that high on my priority list 8-| I'm kinda waiting untill they have it in a second hand shop... still, i think it's fairly wide, so you should be able to store quite a lot of barrels and things... that brown part at the bow of the ship looks great also, you gotta be able to use it .. somehow... or maybe you can build a 19th century cargo ship with a bit more hull sections... hm... yeah... one that used to transport natural resources from mines and distribution centers to the factories...

looks like a promo set. a promo set normally is produced by lego on behalf of another company. The Maersk ship for instance, was initially a business gift from Maersk to highly regarded customers. They simply financed the operation and lego produced the model. Several airliners have done the same, just as Shell. Especially these Shell sets were ideal: you could easily buy them in a the small shop of the petrol station and it kept the kids quiet during the ride... Because they're produced in fairly low numbers, they're quite rare and expensive. We have Lego sets at the Brussels airport, there even is a Lego shop at Billund airport, but both only sell the official stuff, not the promos. If you want the promos, you either have to go directly to the office of the airline company at the airport (usually the 1st class section); or you have to ask for them in the airplane.

i too am thinking of moving later the year, so i'm putting all my lego in plastic "31L" boxes. it's started like: "ok... i need to buy myself new plastic boxes for my lego." Now it's: "ok... i've got several empty plastic boxes left, now i have to go out and buy some Lego to fill them..." :-|

What is the oldest set you've ever found in a store?
snefroe replied to BearHeart's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
when i just got out of the dark age in 2000 i had a shop that was still selling the blacktron 1 base, sw4j's 200 jet, the large red/blue lego technic car, some classic space stuff like this one, all insectoids, some wild west and pirates, older small city sets, 80's baseplates from town and classic space, model team, and most spyrius, ufo, aquazone, aquaraiders, rockraiders,... ofcourse, i bought for about 200 euro a month through out the year there, so i'm afriad it's all gone now... the oldest stuff i can still find from time to time, is Life on mars, timecruisers, some train sets, usually some sort of electronic element, late 90's city sets... sometimes i find older lego basic sets, not the great sets of the past, but the small service boxes, like a motor, but i didn't buy that one... i think they still have that one. I also dug up a huge plastic box in the shop with the small service packs, you know, those parts that were published on yellow pages of the catalogue... the last thing I bought from what was left, was the black and the white battery boxes of the Futuron space train... They're all still in the sealed bags, but g... 16 euro for a part you can easily find on BL for a lot less... the ony thing i'm sorry about is that I wasn't into collecting MISB sets when i just got out of the dark age and didn't know of BL, so I not only opened all the sets, i also only bought one copy of most sets. I even didn't buy the Battrax (the large car of the Blacktron 1 theme) because i'd bought that as a child and didn't want to spend money on a brand new one :-| :-| :-| :-X -
i know what you mean! :-X take all these special, promo sets through out the years, the US only space sets, like blacktron 1's renegade... I only figured out they existed when i browsed the BS database just a few years ago X-O :-X man, i felt cheated! X-O :-X :-X *sing*
