Don't mess with my bionicle parts yoda!
snefroe replied to snefroe's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
yes, we call it MSN... well... if *yoda* finds the time to get online... X-D we all used to talk a lot to each other on MSN, then we heard *yoda* saying "i got network problems at home, can't get online anymore; i should get somebody to look into it"... that's been going on for ... ages... really, we're all starting to think he's blocked us forever from his MSN and having private MSN-chats with only the ladies instead :-X :-P -
I had a weird discussion with *yoda* the other day. At the German park during the event, i asked if it was all right if i were to put a few parts in his bag that he was filling with stuff that he wanted. I didn't get enough parts to fill a bag myself and we've done this before... He said it'd be ok, so i dropped a few bionicle parts in there, just to see whether they would work with space mocs... For some reason, we never sorted those parts back in the motel, so *yoda* went home, to Paris, with my bionicle parts... However, we are planning to get together again soon, so i asked *yoda* to look for those bionicle parts... He answered something like this: "Those are yours? oops damn! i put them away somewhere, thinking those darn Swedes put those parts in my bag just to tease me..." YEAH!! Those darn Swedes!! X-O thanks a lot *yoda* :-X X-D

well what can we say? Lego is a man's world in every aspect... If you want to change that, my advice would be to get the feminist groups in the UK to make a lot of noise about this, and maybe, just maybe, a journalist may pick it up and confronts a Lego rep with that. Hopefully, he'll be good enough to not let it go by the usual "lego is for boys, they don't want female figs" explenation... i do under stand the essence of your post though. We're never going to get an acceptable level of equality between male and female if we bring up our children with classic patterns of males and females in our society... Lego should at least make the effort to get more females in their sets, like a female pilot... If the US Air Force has several female wing commanders in the fleet, then surely it wouldn't be that difficult to get a female pilot in a Lego airliner... :-| you know, it's kinda funny, we in Belgium always seem to idealise Skandinavia: they're the best in environmental policies, in economics, in the way they organise their nation, humanity,... and Lego always seems to find ways to proof the opposite. they waste lots and lots of paper to have huge boxes, they dump a zillion people because management blunders, and they're clearly not promoting a world of equality through the products they're offering...

difficult to evaluate the set itself based on this one picture. it seems to me that it's basically been build up by 1 piece pilars and similar parts like that. i'm also not sure how to approach the set. where exactly is the gate, where do they dig for precious stones? still, it doesn't look all that bad. Sure, it misses the grace and sophistication of several city/sw sets but i guess the main thing here is playability. anyway, i think it wouldn't be too hard to build a decent Wild West mine with this...

what raised panels? the one in front?

nono, jp gave me your sw disc for size, not the flag.

well if you're asking me, this theme is no longer a castle theme but a fantasy theme... as if they finally realise that it's oh so easy for them to produce a successful LOTR clone. Think it is sad for the hardcore castle fans though. I can't imagine those guys to be all that happy with the direction this theme is suddenly taking...

sure, you'd have to get rid of the cross and these wings, you have to put lots of greebs on it, but i can see some potential here
-
i'm unhappy with this format as well, but there was nothing that could be done about that. it just needed to correspond with the format of the sw disc, so blame the sw nerds X-D

well it's a question of collecting, really. you just want to keep the thing you bought as authentic as possible. it doesn't have to do with selling/reselling. it's a thing only collectors understand, aparently... again, compare it with comics. some one i know just bought an old Tintin comic for 7000 euros. do you really think he's gonna give that to his little children? I don't think so... it's going sraight into the vault, only to come out on special occasions, when you want to look at it. it's like wine. Many bottles are extremely expensive. if you're thirsty, you'll just take a glass of water or whatever , only to open the expensive wine when you really want to enjoy drinking that one... that can take years...

Huge quantity Lego SW figs for sale on eBay

you know... i can take tags as fast as i can give them... >:-) X-D wanna see? X-D
-
well, i think we expand on the original idea and add this type of discoveries in there as well. i'll ask a mod/admin when i see one... g... where are these people when you need one... :-| X-D it's a nice deal, sure, however, the seller hasn't been very smart. You should always split up a collection like this.People are mentally not ready to spend 1000's of euros on Lego as they do on comics for instance. untill then, it's better to split it up

well ... eh... yeah... hm... 8-| :-$ how's the weather over there? X-D

well i think it's simple really... i think the preacher thing is a referrence to the eulogy, but the noble thing may be a referrence to that as well, so some one got very confused about that and fused them together into one title... since you are confused now as well, some one changed it again into confused preacher... this type of confusion can, IMO, only be the product of a very confused mind... that automatically leads to TT i do have a feeling though that if h39 keeps on getting a new title for every post on EB, he'll be soon blessed with a new title, like "Title encyclopedia" or something....
-
i was asked by God Almighty to change the tag format, so every one's getting a new tag... yeah, i know it's smaller than the old one, but that still doesn't change the fact that space is by far the best theme of the galaxy... *sweet*
-
well actually we discussed the tags a zillion times in the past, before you even came along ;-) i think we decided to keep it more or less low profiled and fairly limited to prevent people from going nuts over who gets what type of tag... a bit like the title thing but much worse. The space topic didn't suddenly die, i just made sure people were not starting the discussion on tags all over again. That was not the purpose of that topic, nor do i feel the urge to have yet another topic about that any place else... |-/

well there are three elements that make them similar: 1) Lego's catalog of parts is limited these days, so different themes have to use the same type of parts 2) the themes are similar. Exo force can easily be placed on the moon, the creatures can easily be replaced by the martians 3) both themes need to follow the rules of high playabilit

830 dollars for the Galaxy Explorer. that's more like it... we're already discussing this one somewhere...

just did a quick search on their website, no lego promos... is this related to a particular month(s)? the truck is, btw, not exactly new. I seem to recall getting that one in a Lego city puzzle...
-
well for once we actually seem to have promo sets in Belgium! gotta make the most out of it! X-D reminds me to tell the family to go out and eat burgers! X-D
-
really? damn! i went to eat there yesterday... guess it'll be a burger twice this week X-D
