  1. Sorry, UQ, your battle will be up in a couple of hours.

This, however, leaves her out of position for her own path, so instead she elects to sustain the Sentinel stance. Sakurai confuses the QM moves in with a whirl of staff and blade, clipping one Pterosaur's wing and hamstringing the Tyrannosaur. ""Hmf. You know, Miss, I think we got off on the wrong foot. It's way easier to do that with someone watching your back. Ever consider leaving Heroica for greener pastures?" He surveys the battlefield. Current Weather: Hot (Doubles Fire-elemental damage, halves Ice-elemental damage) The Northeastern Enemies: Juvenile Tyrannosaur *Slowed* Type: Ancient Level: 9 Health: 44/80 Special: Devour – Removes the target from the battle. "Good as new," he says with a smile. Apparently, Mac's medic work works as advertised, as Boris is able to deal a tremendous blow to the velociraptor mob, crushing one's skull on the front swing while breaking another's neck on the backswing. While Ezeran successfully stabs a Coelophysus with his scorpion's stinger, Kheyli immediately follows up with a Frenzy, finishing said Coelophysus off and halving the last velociraptor's remaining health. The verminous reptiles retreat in fear from the seemingly-insane fairy swinging a rat around by its tail. "That...that was amazing. Well done, Kheyli!" Party Leader, choose the order of action. All of you, choose your targets and the row you want to fight in. Also mention if you want to try to flee, heal or cast a magic spell, or if you want to use an item instead of attacking. Any enemy not targeted will get a Free Hit on the party after everyone has acted; each party's Free Hits are separate. Mobs get an extra Free Hit if there are more members of the mob than standing party members. NOTE: Any party member can switch to the other half of the battle by spending a turn, but you will only get experience once during this dual battle. If all party members on a front are Knocked Out, the remaining enemies will join the other front.
  3. "I vote for Elizabeth Swann Natasha of the Golden Crusade." *Natasha wins by having more than one vote*
  4. Ah, so the WPs are combined, but it's still each individual weapon striking the target. Got it.
  5. On a Marauder's SHIELD, how are elements calculated? Are the weapons' elements just combined, or...? And what about weapons that inherently deal double damage to a certain type?
  6. Double markup only really works if you're an NPC; the most optimal strategy for all players overall are 1:1 swaps between Polish and Grating Stones, but if you really want to run a markup, I'd suggest "2 of my Bright Polish for 3 of your Grating Stones", or else just apply a direct 50 Gold convenience fee for each Bright Polish (so trading via Grating Stone would mean you'd get 1 Grating Stone + 50 gold for each Bright Polish). Good to know. Speaking of Wolfgang rep rarity, I have plans to offer it as a choice for rep in the not-too-distant future.
  7. Well, I mean, if Arthur chooses a faction (which I'm still not sure he will), it'd be Crescent with Guts. Also, behold Mythril Edge: WP:150 in about six months or so.
  8. OOC: Could you use the avatar below for Miirym? Thanks. Arthur bows humbly before Retraga, before translating the Dragon's words for the rest of the party. Before he can formulate a response, however, a bright, human-sized shape wreathed in a deep violet smoke swoops up from behind the ship, landing on it with a gleam in her azure eyes. Though Miirym radiates rage and frustration, it is not directed outward, and she does her best to suppress both the smoke and her emotions as she demonstrates a submissive posture before the Elder Dragon. "<Great Elder,>" she begins in the Dragons' tongue, as humbly as she can manage, "<I cannot speak on behalf of the mortals with us--save, perhaps, for my own personal companion--but I am seeking discovery and self-knowledge. I have yet to uncover my true place in the world, save for knowing that Arthur will be there at my side, and so I have yet to ignite the spark that fuels my own will, that grants me the strength to fully exert it upon the world. I seek to visit the Dragon's Heart Flame, to gaze upon its embers and to see with my own eyes the fire that burns within us all, and perhaps discover its heat within me. The others, too, wish to visit the flame, but as I said, I cannot recall their purpose--my attention as of late has been otherwise diverted.>" Arthur moves closer to Hybros, Purpearl, Guffington, Felix, and the others, his Sylvania's Cowl in hand. "Would any of you like to borrow this for a little bit, so that you can listen and speak directly in this conversation?"
  9. QM Note: After asking for clarification from Sandy, the tag *Fights from the Back Row* does indeed mean that the enemy is ranged and ignores Row. For future reference and clarity, if a non-ranged enemy retreats to the Back Row, I will note this with a *Retreated to Back Row* tag. I will run the Round in roughly 12 hours or when K-Nut posts, whichever is later.
  10. Sandy stated the date of return as the 17th before leaving. I'd recommend trying to get out of Hinckley mode. Heroica is...significantly less fun in Hinckley mode.
  11. QM Note: Just did; it did not activate.
  12. QM Note: I will be away all day tomorrow; I'll add the distributed loot to your stats and hopefully begin the next battle on Thursday. 13. No, 800 is just what it reduced to (rounded) when I first ran my reduction formula. The real deal is quite a bit more challenging... Also, wow you guys got rotten rolls on the Southwest side. You managed to get two 1's mixed in there, but one of them was for Mac and one of them was on the one party member whose SHIELD isn't that helpful for you. No rush. FYI, I'll be gone all day tomorrow, so no updates from me as Arthur or anything else.
  14. QM Note: Tyrannosaur's health typo fixed. I've also added a little bit of relevant information to the note at the end of the party listing. Round 1 of Terror at Timehenge (Northeast): >Terry (Ice) vs. Juvenile Tyrannosaur - Spell (Juvenile Tyrannosaur: 10+7=17/2=8 damage; Terry: -1 Ether) Jinnipher vs. Juvenile Tyrannosaur - SHIELD (Sentinel - Northeastern Party: protected from physical damage) >Sakurai vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling C & Juvenile Tyrannosaur - Dual Damage (Sakurai: 3-3=0+9/2=4-3=1 damage) Pterodactyl Hatchling A Free Hit vs. Terry: 3-1=2 damage Pterodactyl Hatchling B Free Hit vs. Jinnipher: 3-9=0 damage Terry, perhaps perplexed by the heat of the day, casts an Ice spell whose effects are sapped by the sunny weather. Jinnipher stands ready for a Sentinel, but not before Sakurai gets bitten and Terry pecked by the featherless fliers. "Those winged creatures are faster than they look--they don't care what Row you're in, they'll still hurt. Have a habit of ganging up on you, too," he adds, unconsciously rubbing a spot on his lower back as he does so. "And g--Miss Elf," he continues, the respectful address clearly not something he used often, "I appreciate the sentinel stance, but it won't save us from that thing's jaws if it tries to devour us--it'll just swallow us whole." Current Weather: Hot (Doubles Fire-elemental damage, halves Ice-elemental damage) The Northeastern Enemies: Juvenile Tyrannosaur Type: Ancient Level: 9 Health: 72/80 Special: Devour – Removes the target from the battle. The battle opens disastrously for the Southwest party, with both Torald and Kheyli taking serious damage right out of the gate. Ezeran summons a burst of thorny roots and vines to push back the ferocious reptiles, but the Coelophysus slip right through the spaces between them. Boris steps in front of the injured Barbarians, but the raptors charge forward in haste, slicing Boris' leg to Slow him before pouncing on and mauling the defenseless Torald. Only Ezeran's quick vine whip saves Torald from death, the impact launching the raptors against a nearby tree; the Barbarian is still left unconscious, however. 15. I was thinking more along the lines of making dual-strike have to take Dual Damage and Dual Special Damage. But I suppose you make a fair point.
  16. Pala is right on the nose, with the exception of Marauder. ...anyone in favor of just making dual-strike weapons act like Marauder outright to reduce confusion? Would help make them more balanced, too.
  17. "Not me. I've had enough of being a special snowflake for one day. Besides, I think Miirym might be upset with me for putting myself in the spotlight like that--she's never been pleased with people who show off, unless it's showing off how much they revere her of course." The thought of Miirym sets his mind to worry once again, and Arthur soon retreats aft to look back for his draconic companion. --------------- As it happened, Miirym had if fact caught up with the ship but a few minutes earlier. She silently soared beneath the ship, staying within its shadow, that she might have more time with her thoughts. Some of Vipera's earlier words grow clearer for her now--she can practically feel the will her companion exerts in his worry, both the same and yet different from what she had sensed from his clash with the champion of Sven. Still, much of the Dragon's wisdom remains unclear, and she suspects it will be some time before she can even begin to understand it all. OOC: Could we please have a stats update? I want to double check a few things before we end up in another fight.
  18. FM Note: William, your target was defeated last Round; I moved your target to the next enemy in line. Round 5 of Battle 1 >William vs. Scary Crows B C - SHIELD (Aura - William: Aura) Erik vs. Scary Crow C - Counter (Hexed, attacks self: 6 damage; Scary Crow C: 5+25=30+30=60 damage (KO!)) The Hexed Scary Crow C flies straight for Erik's axe as he swings it, the weapon unintentionally proving its name as it cleaves the creature into two identical (if mirrored) halves. Both Siercon and Avalanche whiff their attacks, but their Hexed opponents manage to strike the crows instead, as Warlen continues to draw strength from the Heroes' weakness. Alexander places a well-Aimed shot that finally puts the Mad Cow out of its misery, while Warlen wards off several shrieking crows as his boots continue to give him strength. Three targets remain, two of them on the verge of death. THE BATTLE CONTINUES! 19. I think the big problem with the bridge battle was the mechanics of it, which to be fair can be a pain to tweak when you're going for a specific concept. The Coelophysus in 141 right now are sort of my take on a similar concept, while also borrowing Zepher's "hits" mechanic from the horses in Baltarok (I had completely forgotten those were a thing before I went back and re-read it, we need to use the hits mechanic more often in mixed-level partied). Specifically, I think the two big issues were that changing Rows took a turn and that melee Heroes couldn't fight from the Back Row. Looking back, I think that keeping Rows within each section but letting ranged attackers fire between sections (sort of like Brickdoctor's archers in the hex battles) could have worked. Having to take a turn to move between sections and having to keep at least one person within a section to keep it from being overrun worked really well, it's only when it got combined with the existing concept of Row that things got kinda ooky.
  20. They're an actual drop from the Fields of Glory; Sandy created them, not me. Speaking of the Fields, I should be able to run the round in a few more hours.
  21. QM Note: I have placed the un-distributed Remedy in Mac's inventory for now; I'll add it to the loot to be distributed after the battle, if it hasn't been used by then. Let me know if I've made any other stats mistakes or missed people using items, switching Artifacts, etc. --------------- Sakurai stops short as the party continues to complain about him. "Shh! Shh! Yeesh, these are the kinds of people Farmer Donauld prefers in his Fields? He really is a crazy old nut." The Sorcerer glances behind him. "All right, we need to be very, very quiet. We're almost to Timehenge, which is where these things seem to come from." "They might not be dragons, but they're still dangerous. Same strong scales, same claws and teeth, no rational brain to reason with. Seriously, I've checked, they're like the size of a Grating Stone. Probably the stupidest creatures on Olegaia for their size. Makes it real easy to sneak up on them instead of the other way around, if you know when to shut up. Now, to answer the vampire's question, I don't know if there's a name for these Ancient lizards in general, but I do know the big ones in particular are called--" "TYRANNOSAUR!!!!" Terry and Jinnipher, who happened to be standing closest to Sakurai, find themselves momentarily cut off from the rest of the group. 22. I am so, so sorry for how little I've been able to participate the past week or so. 141, you will receive some extra compensation later on; UQ and 139, all I can offer are my most sincere apologies.
  23. QM Note: Dealing with blackouts in my area, one of which already ate the original version of this post (now posting on mobile). Full update in 24 hours, sorry for the delay. "To be fair, it's partly my fault. I assumed Kiri would understand how favor trading works and mention it in her pitch." "Hey, you know what they say about assuming." "...You do realize you have zero room to talk, right Sato?" Mac looks back to Terry. "I did mention that Sakurai would want a favor--I just figured it'd be something a little less risky than fighting...what are we fighting anyway, Sato?" Sakurai grins as he leads the party forward. "You'll see in just a few minutes. You're in for a treat." The sorcerer happens to glance at Jinnipher's sword and boots. "Though it looks like your Knight friend has fought something similarly scaly before."
  24. Well, I mean, I can guarantee some stuff is going down in Duplovia, but it may not be connected to whatever Zeph has going on there.
  25. Darkness isn't one of the better elements for world interaction. It's fantastic for stealth (seriously, why don't more people do that? ), but not so much when you need to, say, build a bridge over a canyon or freeze a lake or [REDACTED] (oops, sorry Pie kudos on the subtle design, though ). I used to give the advice "read the original BIONICLE run" as a great example of using elemental powers in an interesting and effective way, but looking back there's an unfortunate amount of "just blast it" going on in some parts. Anyone know of any books/comics/movies/TV shows that are really good at illustrating elemental powers? ...I'm an idiot. Why did my mind not immediately go to Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra?
