Heroica RPG - Unlimited Quest: Fields of Glory

FM Note: Only a Druid/Necromancer SHIELD or a Phoenix Essence or similar consumable item can revive KO'd Heroes. -
Still not as strong as having the x2 built into the weapon itself. Or to be more precise, not as flexible. Your build is highly situational. You have to be below half health (which is dangerous), and you have to be fighting Humanoids (yes, they're the most common type, but your build is taking both an Artifact slot and a weapon slot to focus on them); if you battle at full health and/or against non-humanoid enemies, all your multipliers go away, and it would take a turn to change your equipped Artifacts. By contrast, all of Arthur's type specialization is within the weapons themselves, allowing him to swap weapons for free to suit his opponent while dumping a ton of SP into his Artifact slots (SP that applies against almost all enemies, with the exceptions of those that ignore it entirely). Not saying it's a bad build, but you're assuming ideal circumstances, which isn't the only consideration in making a solid build.
-
Don't build around your enemies always being Fragile; basing your build around a single negative effect is a great way to bait QMs into making their enemies immune to it (especially with Frailty in particular). Poison is the big exception to this (since Witch has it as a class feature), but even then enemies being immune to poison is not unheard of.

FM Note: Fixing the Round now, Siercon is up one Ether and KO'd. -
Okay, Warlen's build is just plain disgusting. I realize a lot of it is the weapon (and the rolls with it! Holy hell, I rolled a "1" five times that Round between battle results and Hexing!), but still...

"Miirym is no servant of mine. I am her partner, her guardian, her caretaker. I have been given the responsibility to raise her, and that responsibility is what led me to bring her here. If anything, it is I who provide service to her." Miirym looks annoyedly at Arthur. <Arthur. You are both wise and powerful. Do not claim to be lesser than I. We are equals. We both support and learn from each other. To claim anything else is to diminish us both.> Arthur slowly nods in understanding, a look of curious understanding upon his face. Miirym, too, seems to relax a little, and despite the darkness of the cave and her smoke, she almost seems to grow visibly from the exchange. "Ah," Arthur says in understanding, "so this is the sort of Dragon you are, the sort that values might over right. Where is the wisdom shown by so many others of your kind?" <It seems not all of our kind possess such a wisdom. Like the tyrant the Prophet told us was menacing Moone.> "Indeed." Arthur drinks a Mead and equips his Helmet of the Duplovian Guard, before giving Miirym a Nostrum. He slots his last Phoenix Essence into the Hollow Blade of this Duplovian Swift Halberd as well.

To be honest, I haven't really known what to say since we got back in the air. I'm afraid it shows through the diminished quality of my roleplaying.

<And what of us?> Miirym challenges indignantly, indicating herself and Torc. <Are we mere pets, mere toys in your sight, sister? You would do yourself disservice to assume such a thing--of us, or of them.> Though reluctant to speak, Arthur steps forward to stand at his companion's side, speaking as Diplomatically as he can manage. "Miirym speaks the truth. Olegaia decays only as much as the living allow--and those here are among those who refuse to allow it." Arthur looks to Hybros and Purpearl, hoping he had laid a good groundwork for their own opinions.

"Right, then. Best of luck to the four of ya." Round 3 of Terror at Timehenge (Northeast): >Terry (Wind) vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling B - Special Damage (Aerial Pursuit - Pterodactyls: focused on Terry) Jinnipher vs. Pterocactyl Hatchling A - Special Damage (Aerial Pursuit - Pterodactyls: focused on Jinnipher) >Sakurai vs. Pterodactyl Hatchling B (twice) - Dual Hit (Pterodactyl Hatchling A: [7+10=17*2*2/2/2=17] + [7+10=17/2/2=4] = 21 damage) Mac arrives on the Northeast front Terry tries and fails to blow away his target, his awkward movements drawing their attention and focus. Seeing this, Jinnipher bangs her blade loudly against her shield, drawing their attention to her instead. Sakurai manages to catch one Pterodactyl as it flies towards Jinnipher, but it fails to have the desired effect. "Huh. All the Heroes I ever met were miserable with their life, felt kinda constrained. Well, 'all' being just an ogre named Zpilf, but still. Seemed stifling to me, from what he said. Maybe he was wrong." Sakurai takes another swing at the circling Pterodactyls, but misses. "Ahh, they're flying too high for me to hit properly." He looks to Jinnipher. "What do you think? Time for me to switch to spellcasting?" Just then, Mac arrives on the Northeastern front. "So, what did I miss? Any of ya need some help?" QM Note: Going to roll for the Northeast party now, but I still need an action for Torald since he's being revived.

It's literally impossible to nominate yourself for rulership while not wanting it. If someone else pushes you into taking the steps (i.e. a reluctant candidate filling out the paperwork because dozens of friends and family members are pushing her to do so), that's a lot closer to what you're talking about, but really the idea of "reluctant leader, immune to corruption" 1.) still doesn't make them incorruptible, just resistant (just like how nothing can be bulletproof, but it can be bullet-resistant), and 2.) only really works if the person is elected to power against their will. Nothing against you wanting that concept for your character, Lind, I'm just pointing out that the way your character has gone about it makes the trope not actually work; if anything, Lind the character might believe that he's fulfilling that trope, but by logical definition he's not.

I'm going to echo what Swils said earlier: if Pretzel was going to directly make his move, he should have had to make it as his stated in-thread action. The other secret sabotage was fine, but other Heroes have to enact mid-battle betrayals through in-topic bolded actions, so Pretzel should have had to do so as well. Also, now I'm going to say again: the "high reward" was nonexistent in this Quest. Over the course of three months, the entire party got one decent Artifact, one decent shield, and a disappointingly low amount of Gold for their Levels. These are the worst drop rates of any Sandy Quest, by far; one needs only to look at 130, which has been going on nearly twice as long but has given infinitely better rewards. Perhaps you had a lot of loot planned as end-of-Quest rewards, but in that case this Quest is a perfect example of why end-loading your loot is a bad idea (...says the QM who's pretty much end-loaded his loot in 141, so take that as you will ). At the very least, like the automatons/ninjas in 120 (which you fixed for us mid-Quest after realizing the mistake), the Rocklings should have had guaranteed drops. You've already heard my piece on collaboration/trusting the party to maintain player-character separation, so I won't repeat that again. I will say that, having recently re-read 38, the Flowers of Sybil idea would have been perfect for this, but I know you don't read through a lot of Quests given how busy you are, and since no one (*cough* *cough* ) ever even wrote anything up about them or 38 on the Wiki, I can't blame you for not knowing about them. That *cough* *cough* isn't directed at you, by the way, Sandy, but at literally everyone else (including me) who has failed to write things up for the wiki.

I'd probably vote for Natasha to lead the Crescent Union; it's basically the same ideology (progress is good, oppression is bad), and she has experience leading people to that end.

Confusion is really cool, but it's a terrible control effect; you're better off with Blinding, Sealed, or Sleep. Sleep is incredibly powerful, but if you have any AoE allies in the party (i.e. Barbarian classes, Mage classes, Dragoons, Cannoneers, etc.) they can very easily screw it up for you (as will inattentive allies). The advantage of Sleep is that it blocks rolls of 5, 6, and Free Hits, BUT it only lasts until you get a hit in--think of it more like an upgraded Stunned than anything else. --------------- Question about the Tritech Enhancement: is this item supposed to also include a "weapon must be renamed to include 'Tritech Enhanced' in the name" clause like Mystril, Mythril, Adamantite, and Ancient Amber? Plus, you could always carry around a Stun and/or Sleep bomb for emergency mob use. Heck, a lot of the junk I carry around is for one-off emergency situations I don't expect to encounter but want to be prepared for otherwise (i.e. the Love Potion/Ambrosia I used up in the duel in 139).

It's called "QM Bias" and I'm guilty as hell of it. I'd choose Frailty or Blindness--they're the two I used most as a Mage.
