  1. Aww, you're just going to sell the Phoenix, Jab? Quick, someone buy it off Nur! @ Tanma: It's Phoenixes. And, there's always the Phoenix Command Group, a fictional organization around which my upcoming (hopefully) sci-fi rolepla-*is shot* EDIT: Go, Alexis! :cheer:
  2. Arthur begins to write another Z-mail, and is about to send it away, when he notices a three tiny lines on the envelope. "'Guess what spell I'...you know what, I'm not going to even finish reading that sentence. VALENTINE!" Valentine appears in a poof of smoke, obviously angry that her scheme hadn't worked. "Woman, you've already ruined my family, I am ENTITLED to--" Suddenly, a pink letter poofs into existence next to her. Arthur catches it before Valentine can even move. "--a little revenge. You don't minde me snooping, do you dearie? It wouldn't be the first time you were involved in something like that..." He reads the letter. He passes it on to Valentine, but writes his own reply to Althior. Master, Whatever it is, the cost will likely be steep. The price my fater paid for a few weeks of service turned out to be our family's standing and honor, not to mention many family secrets...including the one that makes this service possible. I would advise the greatest caution when dealing with this *****. --Your Apprentice, Arthur Arthur levitates the message in midair, and twirls his hand around it as mystic runes appear on it's surface. "I've got A-mail!" The message disappears in a poof of blue light and smoke. Valentine growls. "Oh, it's on, boy." She casts Bugsby's Expressive Single Digit before disappearing in another puff of pink smoke. OOC: Oh, I really hope this continues, it just keeps getting better...
  3. A thought on Scrolls: Perhaps certain combinations of Effects should not be allowed to combine? I don't think we should eliminate all combos (i.e. Stunned + Poison, Poison + Seal, etc. are perfectly reasonable), but a few are game-breaking (Blind + Seal) and some just don't make sense or otherwise conflict (Blessed + Poison, for example). I think that if two Effects come into conflict, both are removed. Example: A Blessed hero is poisoned. Instead of the healing and poison effects erasing each other, both effects just vanish (a semi-IC explanation would be that the Blessing acted as a one-time Special Guard against the poison). Likewise, a Hero tries to put a Stunned enemy to sleep, but instead the Stun effect vanishes allowing his allies to take damage if they fair their rolls (the neural shock of the Stun is counteracted by the soothing effect of Sleep, removing both). An IC explanation for disallowing Seal + Blind might be that you can't magically interfere with more than one part of the face at a time. Alternatively, QMs can counteract Hero-side Effect combos by abusing them with their own monsters.
  4. If you have more than one Highlander sword, I'd REALLY Like to see you chrome-ize or silverize one (you know, with paint or something) for Cronk. The shape is great, it just needs to be shinier. Of course, I'm being a total hypocrite here, as I've never painted a part in my life.
  5. Yeah, but William is actually on a horse.
  6. And, chromeknight: Even better than Explosive Runes! EDIT: oh, and, first title!
  7. My first Title! Now I'm officially part of the family! oshaberi sugiru, a Japanese phrase which translates, roughly, to "Talks too much" (from oshaberi, lit. "chattering," and sugiru, lit. "excessively"). Given for not realizing that Def is from Japan and asking (in extremely basic Japanese) if he spoke Japanese.
  8. I know the whole "songs for different characters" thing has gone by the wayside, but I think this song is just too perfect for Leo not to share. In other news...I JUST realized what William wrote literally RIGHT ABOVE my first post in the letters topic. There goes the plan for taking it slow. If Leo is a Barney Stinson-wannabe, then Arthur is an extremely patient WALL-E.
  9. YES. DO THIS. Unless you want to obsess over my under-construction RPG instead.
  10. "More small stones, Isabella, but this time at Pikeman A." He idly wonders if he could turn the bizzare etheric letters into a combat advantage. "Perhaps if we used them as ammunition the elves would be too busy laughing at us to attack? ...Oops, did I just say that out loud?"
  11. No, she sends one, THEN snoops.
  12. That's why I gave Valentine her own copy. She gets one, Pretzel gets one, simultaneous Explosive Runes for the win!
  13. Ah, you forget, it's the QM's decision on whether or not the thing activates when you read it...
  14. Noo, I want it until I hit Level 15!
  15. Perhaps it only works up to Level 15, so he'd have to give it away to a lower-level character if his Quests have enemies of a higher level than that?
  16. Arthur notices a pair of letters pop out of nowhere next to Isabella. "If that's what I think it is, I have a useful spell to deal with it."
  17. Problem solved. Also, Capt.johnPaul, you may want to check out what I just sent Pretzel... (link, Link 2, Link 3A, Link 3B)
  18. Arthur recieves the note. His face becomes . He quickly scribbles down a reply, mutters something, and hands it to Valentine. "Here. Make sure this gets back to the monk. Don't read it. Actually, go ahead, here's a second copy for you to snoop through." The message simply reads: OOC: QM's take note!
  19. Don't worry, he's probably one of them. Alternatively, he has promised them the Scum roles and they will take the killing part literally...
  20. That's fine, mostly I wanted to give them the journals so that in-between Quests we can get bits and pieces of their adventures. Out of all the possible Harry Potter spin-off books that I've heard suggested over the years, the concept that appealed to me the most was a book containing Fred and George Weasley's "prank log," which was various bits and pieces of information on the oddball antics they got up to at Hogwarts. Rather than literally narrating their time at school (like any fan-fiction could do), this book would have instead contained little snippets of incomplete information hinting at what they got up to but never explicitly stating it (you know, in case Filch ever got a hold of it), leaving the details up to the reader's imagination. That's sort of what I was hoping for in giving those two the journals. Also, if that Quest comes up at the same time as a Wren Quest, I will be quite upset! EDIT: Unless Wren was somehow involved with those two, which would be freaking epic. EDIT2: Grah, can't spell.
  21. ...and my streak of Wall of Text continues...
  22. Arthur feels a disturbance. "Father?" When he turns to look, however, he sees a crackling pink illusion of a familiar-looking pink sorceress. "Oh. It's you. How have you been? I've been really busy being dead exiled. You know. After you ruined my father's honor." Arthur sighs. "Look. After you and Dad were found out, we both said a lot of things that you're going to regret. But I think we can put our differences behind us. For science Heroica. You monster." Despite his issues with the Zeigfried witch, he decides not to waste a valuable opportunity. Pulling out a new magical journal--nearly the last he had brought with him from home, when he got back to the Hall he'd have to remember to spend some time and gold making more--hae attached it to a letter, addressed to Cinna the Dark. Hello, Miss Cinna, Unless you've traveled many miles to the northeast of our world, you probably don't know me. My name is Arthur Justus Regulus VII, a new Mage of Heroica. I have read of your exploits on Quest 4 and was most impressed; our friend De'kra shares my sentiments. You are clearly a most capable Hero, and one definitely worth becoming acquainted with; I much desire to speak with you. To that end, I have sent you this journal; whatever is written in one shall appear in the other, allowing for communication even across Quests, provided one has the time to write. I must go. The Brobric Elves approach Bric'bay Fort, and I have several individuals with whom I wish to establish correspondence. May we converse again soon! I look forward to getting to know you better. Yours, Arthur "I've got Z-mail!" Valentine flashed the Mage a dirty look, but the letter disappeared nonetheless. Arthur then addresses a letter to Lyren Hinckwell and Nuitan Shadeaux. Deciding that the boys' need was greater than his own, he pulls out his next-to-last journal, mutters an incantation, and tears it down the middle. New covers and bindings magically form at the tear, creating two smaller journals linked both to each other and to his own, though the latter connection, he suspected, would only update when he took the time to reinforce the spell, which would, unfortunately, not be often. In a flash of brilliance, he fished some spare fragments of crystal from his robes and magically bound them to the covers of the three books, forming a triangle of tiny gems on the cover of each journal. A different crystal glowed on each book: the top gem on Arthurs, and one of the lower gems on the other two. As an afterthought, he mutters another incantation over the three journals. Atrhur then set forth his correspondence. Greetings, young sirs, My name is Arthur Justus Regulus VII, I am a Mage of Heroica Hall. I have read of your exploits during the events of Quest 10 and I must say, I am much impressed by your maturity and wisdom. By refusing to conform to the rivalries of the Houses of Eubric you have proven to be the best hope for the city's future--you two certainly impress me far more than some of the, shall we say, short-sighted members of your respective Houses. Therefore, if you ever require assistance of any kind, I am at your service. Remember, no matter what loyalties the Houses of Eubric think I possess, my ultimate loyalty is to you two. These journals are linked to each other, as well as to a journal of my own. The gems on the cover allow you to call the other journals; simply tap the crystal to alert the owner of the corresponding journal of an awating message. (My journal is linked to the top crystal.) Because of the way I linked your journals, my own will only activate if you call me. Keep them secret! Keep them safe! And use them well! Good luck! Your friend, Arthur P.S. If you ever need to keep the contents of the journal safe, you can blank them by touching your own crystal and muttering "mischief managed". The journal will seal and the writing will vanish. You can open them up again by solemny swearing that you are up to no good. Just in case! "I've got Z-mail!" *poof!* The message vanishes in a puff of pink smoke. Arthur sends one last message, this time copied in sextuplicate, to the six Heroes of the mysterious Test Quest. Greetings, Great Ones! I am Arthur Justus Regulus VII, a mage and Hero of Heroica Hall like yourselves. I have been studying the history of our organization, but there is an absence in the records of your Quest. If it would not trouble you too greatly, I would greatly desire your accounts of the events of that Quest. Even if fragmented or incomplete, they would be most helpful in my studies! I would also like to meet all of you, if at all possible. I know that the nature of being on different Quests may make this difficult, but I would still appreciate it if, some time when we are both at the Hall, each of you could spare a little time to speak with me. I greatly desire to learn from such legendary and mysterious Heroes such as yourselves. Your humble servant, Arthur "I've got Z-mail!" OOC: I hope you don't mind my co-opting Valentine's story a bit, her ability to portal all over the place sounds a LOT like Arthur's dad's profession, and Z-mail sounds a lot like Arthur's journal spell, which was passed down through his family. Since having some...ahem..."illegitimate contacts" and ill-advised decisions is a part of his father's story (and thus Arthur's backstory), I couldn't pass up the chance to tie it in.
  23. IMO, for a Lawful and/or Good character, insinuating that someone is worshipping Zoot makes for a pretty strong insult. And after all, if you worshipped one god and someone accused you of worshipping a god (especially one who is opposite of your alignment) would be pretty upsetting and insulting. (Yes I know the numbers are wrong, I'm too lazy to find the correction.) Run a Mafia game!
  24. Hmm, odd. These were the only ones listed in the Hall character index... Come to think of it, Hinckley mentioned he played the Test Quest. Why isn't his character info posted in the Hall? (More to the point, why hasn't he come back? Is he too busy catching megablock Cultists? )
  25. I keep picturing you as your IMHOTEP avatar... Sorry!
