  1. If you strike him down, he will become more powerful than you can possibly imagine be revived with 1HP anyway thanks to being under the Falconer's protection, while those of you that he manages to strike down... Zeph, surely you knew you wouldn't be able to make it through the Quest without at least the chance of PvP...
  2. Arthur gapes in horror at Hoke. He backs hastily away from the Mystic Knight, reaching for his sword but then changing his mind and instead unstrapping the Staff of the Cultist Battlemage. He holds it in a defensive posture as he backs once more toward the stairs, hoping his Cloak and the Staff would be enough to escape if the madmen turned violent.
  3. Then how is that not intimately connected to Chaos?! Either Zoot is the God of Chaos, or he isn't. The Court is serving a God of Chaos, and a vision of Chaos that Arthur cannot accept. Honestly, at this point he'd rather join freaking Wren than the Court, especially with the Master involved.
  4. "Did you all take stupid pills this morning?! Have you forgotten that the Court wants the Doors to Chaos open just as much as Wren?! Joining the Court does not sound like stopping Wren, it sounds an awful lot like getting manipulated into doing her job for her." "Am I missing something? Is the plan to gain Mephisto's aid at the cost of handing him the keys to the city?! Or are we trying to join the enemy ranks in order to take the Court out of the picture from within? I'd do a lot of things for Eubric and for Heroica, even leaving it if I had to. I'm not afraid to step outside the Falconer's protection, to face true death. But I'm not going to turn it over to the Court to save it from the Lady. So go on, hand the city over to a Demon of Zoot incarnate, and to this sinister being of pain here. I'll find my own way to stop Wren, even if I meet my end doing it. Bal did. Sasha did. And even if we lose, their names will be remembered forever. I'd rather stand with them...than with the likes of traitors."
  5. Hold on a minute...I understand that Zane's a skeptic who was just repaying a debt and Zander's just plain mad, but if Zee and Mephisto aren't interested in Chaos then why the hell do they want to summon Zoot?!
  6. Dang. I the player don't want to do this, but Arthur just will not let me write him otherwise. Sorry for the inconvenience, folks. And here I thought that Zane was just the skeptic among the bunch. Ah, well, it's in-character knowledge, can't really change Arthur's misperceptions at this point.
  7. "Were it anyone but the Court, I might find it easier to justify. But the Court embodies the corruption of Chaos I have sworn to undo. I seek to redeem it. Wren and the Court seek to pervert it, in their own ways. And how do we know that Mephisto does not, in fact, bode worse for Eubric than even Wren?" Arthur does not bother to disguise the glare of pure contempt he shoots at the Master. "You are a poor tempter, sir. Your brother, at least, offers us the illusion of choice." Arthur turns to the rest of the party. "This reeks of a trap, one we cannot escape once entered into. I trust this being about as far as I could throw the island. He is, as my friend De'kra would call him, a Pi'raka, a despicable being that preys upon the weakness of others--including us." He sends a stare of pure hatred at the divine being. "May the chronicles state that any agreement I enter into with this being is done against my will." He pulls a book (De'kra's Journal) from his pack and makes a note as such: Arthur looks to Atramor. "If you and this party wish my further aid, you will have to Hex me." He turns to leave, one foot already on the stairs.
  8. Dammit, Arthur, I'm trying to get you nifty gear and an exclusive Expert Class, just swallow your pride and take the damn deal already!
  9. At the explanation of the Master--such arrogance, how he hated that name--and of Zane, Arthur's scowl deepens. "What are the conditions for leaving the Court, then? I will not be entrapped into inescapable service of such hateful ideals."
  10. Seeing that both Atramor and Alexis had agreed, Arthur scowled. "I have no respect for the Court. They are fools--or at least, the first three members are--and they know nothing of the truth of Chaos. Heroica, for all its prattle of righteousness and nobility, is a prime example of Chaos' true nature--by the Falconer's magic, nearly anything is survivable. I am not certain I can justify such a betrayal of an organization that epitomizes the very principle I strive to serve, for an enemy group that subverts the nature of Chaos so completely, so thoroughly."
  11. Not trying to weasel my way out, Arthur just isn't impressed with those bozos.
  12. "And must we all be sworn into the Court?"
  13. What, I gave you guys instructions on solving it right here! OK, OK, I'll give a little hint. The best place to start translating is with Gray's statement ("Fope"); it's clearly an affirmative statement, which narrows down the possibilities substantially. If you start substituting four-letter words that are similar in meaning to "OK", you'll eventually find one that will reveal the pattern. EDIT: Also, my own sentences written in the same code will actually make the translation easier, since you'll have a larger frame of reference for finding two- and three-letter words like "of" "and" "the" "for", and the like.
  14. Interesting review. It's still not enough to tempt me to start collecting City or anything, but I find it very interesting that Octan is apparently trying to "go green," as evidenced by the leaves on the "Octan Energy" logo. Is LEGO world running out of crude oil? Or is *insert unpopular theme here* conspiring to keep this crucial resource away from those who support freedom, imagination, and the LEGO way of life?!? More at eleven.
  15. I wish I could do an exospeak gag that purports to be explaining how to translate the phrases, but is written in such bizzare and technical jargon that no one would be able to understand it anyway. Unfortunately, it's WAY too late at night for me to even begin such a dictionary-scouring endeavor. ...hold the phone, I've got it! It's simple to translate, really. Kutv seqmade eadj dopstopapv ip vje dofe qjsate xivj vje qsewiout doptopapv ip vje amqjacev.
  16. ...and now you know how we feel. Just call me Flipz Von Karma! ...oh, wait...
  17. Oh! Oh! How clever! That is a NICE cypher method, Zeph, it's simple, but it also leaves a whole set of letters you can mess with further! Very nice! Hmm...I may have to make Arthur talk like that more often, give you a taste of your own medicine. EDIT: ...aaaand done. Time-consuming...but TOTALLY worth it.
  18. Arthur closes his eyes gently, as some arcane bit of knowledge within his mind, seared there by the ancient Tome, activates. The language of the Old Gods unfolds within his mind like a carefully-preserved tapestry, open for his perusal. He responds, directing his gaze to the Master of Regret. "Wesz xemm, vjep, Apdiepv Ope. Cehip zous djammephe." Turning to Gray, he adds, "Vje tuqqosv og zous titves xoumf ce notv xemdone av vjit vine, gos ne pov vje meatv og ut. Xjese dap xe gipf jes?"
  19. ...CorneilusMurdock is going to kill you, Zepher.
  20. Arthur stares mistrustfully towards the two brothers. He whispers to Alexis. "Alexis, stay close, be ready to run." He turns to Dyric. "Dyric, my friend, I think I would like to hold onto that die for a while, at least until the end of the Quest." He again offers Dyric the Scarf of misfortune, and also quietly passes the Ancient Crown back to Atramor. "Hoke, if you feel that my cloak will be less useable than your hat, then I'd like to wear the cloak for the time being." "How about a tale for a tale? I've told my own enough times lately that even I'm sick of it, but I'm willing to slog through my own painful past yet again if it'd help us. If mine isn't to your liking, there's a fair number of other Heroes here with stories to tell, I'm sure one of them'd be happy to share. Dyric or Haldor, perhaps?"
  21. Building's my biggest problem, unfortumately--I can do the odd viginette here and there, but a full Quest needs a LOT more sets, and I just don't have enough bricks in the colors I want (though a year's worth of Pick-A-Brick cups and I'm starting to get closer). Gray in particular is a sore spot for me--I need tons of it, and I have VERY little. On the plus side, the long waits serve to distill some of my sillier ideas--the Cathedral Quest I've been working on started out as this wacko conspiracy story about a malfunctioning dimensional gate (don't ask). After about six months' worth of work, it's gotten a bit more reasonable, as those I'm working with can attest. EDIT: I really wish there was a set that would do for 1x2 gray and dark gray bricks what Olivia's House does for the 1x5x5, 1x2x5, and 1x1x5 panels--at a price point that's closer to Olivia's House than to Helm's Deep.
  22. I have a full third of a notebook full of random ideas and such for Quests, and that's not even counting the several gigabytes of files and resources I have on my PC. ...I may be going a bit overboard.
  23. Arthur smiles, and kisses Alexis back. "As do I, Alexis...as do I."
  24. I think you're doing a great job, as is everyone hosting, really. I apologize for my crabbiness last night. In more positive news, I've spent the afternoon constructing a flowchart that defines the complete layout of the Cathedral of Mercuito! It's a little too big to post (according to site guidelines), plus it's just ugly plain text and contains info on locations that are spoilers, but I'm still really pleased with my work!
  25. Dave the Barbarian.
