  1. "So, Lord of Liars, will you accompany Apprentice Atramor to save Triad? And who else shall we send to each location? I would recommend Apprentice Nyx to remain with Sir Poletad, while Apprentice Hoke ought to stay with Vipera."
  2. I thought Paralyzing Venom only prevented Free Hits? Never mind, I see what you're saying. To be fair, "hits everyone at once" is a result of smart combination of equipment (which players shouldn't be punished for), but the "lasts forever" bit still makes a good argument.
  3. I think the venom itself stays on the weapon for the whole battle, but the effect of the venom only lasts 3 Rounds. While I see the value in the venom working for the whole fight, I also see how monstrously difficult it would be to balance for. Although, scenarios with entirely too many Free Hits ARE becoming disturbingly common in Heroica... "All right, then, ready yourself..." Arthur attempts, for the first time, to use the Scroll of Luck on Atramor, before handing the Scroll of Luck to Atramor.
  4. I have to say, I (personally) really dislike the idea of werewolves in Dastan. Why not try Salmanda, that nation has a fair number of were-races already, and it's close enough to Dastan to allow a few of whichever species you're thinking of to migrate to Salmanda. (Though if you're thinking of writing Dragons into Romulus' backstory, I'd advise against it, it'd be a little TOO cliche and would give too many opportunities to revive old Skyrim memes.)
  5. "I've got the Scroll of Luck, want me to try casting it on you now, before I lend it to you? You know, since I'm currently Lucky and all." Arthur indicates Dyric's die in his pocket. He then hands Atramor a Paralyzing Venom. "Put that on the Explosive Staff, and wear the Ancient Crown, the two together should buy you plenty of time."
  6. "Triad would want to die as Bal did, fighting to the last. It's a shame we can't help her, but we just can't." "If we really wanted to risk it, we could send Cronk and one other party member. But it's just not worth it, not after we gave up the protection of Heroica." I imagine that Triad's as stubborn as Phil. All of Zepher's characters have a deathwish like that. And yes, that includes Boomingham.
  7. Check Quests 17 and 31 (and 30). Also note how Alexis posted in the Training Room right before Q53 but didn't change classes. I'm disappointed the Firnen bit had to be cut, but it has been a long time coming, and I know Masked has been working hard on it.
  8. "Hell if I'm going to have to fight another Lucky abomination. I'm going to Guffington Manor. Atramor's got it right, I vote we whisk Triad away, we can't afford for Mallelio's spire to go down, especially with us facing death like we are now." "Hoke, hold onto my Healing Staff for now, no sense in me using two at the moment. Take my Ether Core as well, I'm more likely to use my staff than my spells at the moment, though I expect some sort of payment for the Core eventually."
  9. No...but I am seriously reconsidering my decision now.
  10. Fun fact, if the Master hadn't ticked Arthur off, I was (OOC) trying to think of some deal where Arthur could have sold The Regret's soul to the Master in exchange for some sort of boon of some kind--preferably one that would have let him destroy the Master and The Regret and Wren. You'd have to ask Zeph. I know the weapon I have in mind falls well outside any traditional weapon class, so...
  11. Sure, The Regret can just teleport him there. Actually, that wouldn't work, since Nerwen is wearing the Shackles of War.
  12. Arthur Equips the Loaded Die, the Robe of the Archmage, and the Cloak of Deception.
  13. Zeph edited it in, apparently he's the Scarecrow of you.
  14. You name it (it has to be something with "Zoot" in the title), and it becomes a weapon suitable only to your character with a WP equal to 2/3 of your current level. In other words, 14 Ether and Vintul will beat it easily. Speaking of which, want Arthur's Ether Core? Unless we're facing a slew of undead, Arthur's mostly going to be using physical attacks with the Cultist Staff from the Back Row, for obvious reasons. Although...Zeph, if the user of the Plaything can use shields, could they turn the Plaything into a shield with SP equal to 2/3 the user's level? What about if the character can use ranged weapons (i.e. bows). Tell me the pieces you plan to use in chat, I want to be able to build Dyric, and I've already taken a photo of him in his old costume for a later scene. (Albeit from behind, but still...) Also, hand Arthur the Die already.
  15. Did you hand Arthur the Loaded Die? Also, did you equip the Scarf of Misfortune he handed you?
  16. I think after this amount of time, a double-post could be excused. Or you could pester all your friends until they join Heroica, that would work, too.
  17. "I, too." Arthur moves along with the rest of the party, opening a new page in his Journal.
  18. Well, that's the thing, I think--we all could use a Breather Episode after all these "epic finales" we've been having. In this case, it's not so much about "plot" so much as character interactions--bringing back characters who would otherwise have no reason to appear in any other Quests. In this case, it's the mundane chores that would MAKE it enjoyable. In-character, you're not doing it for bags of gold or for faction reputation or an exclusive Expert Class, you're helping for the sake of helping, and if you end up 2 Gold and a Potion richer at the end of the month, then that's fine. I think it'd be a good Brickdoctor-style Quest, just with fewer photos; after all, it's about the people, so the "profile" images would really be all that's necessary.
  19. You know, statements like this, and the Power Trees in Q42, and characters like Jensen, and the crew of the Magpie--little details that help build the world--always intrigue me. In a lot of D&D campaigns I've read about, sometimes while the majority of the party is off dealing with ogres and orc invasions and liches breaking free from the seals that had once sealed them within their phylactery, one or two of the party members decide to take a break and clear up some of the smaller problems of the common folk, like a young student who forgot to return an ordinary library book, or a farmer whose sheep have escaped their pen, or a merchant whose cart has broken, and he doesn't have the money to get it fixed; simple, mundane, but rewarding stuff.. I'd love to see a Quest that's focused on things like that, something where everyone is welcome to join (like Quest 44), and then they can all go off wherever they please in Uland, doing small tasks for just petty change and a fuzzy feeling in their hearts. (I'd really love to participate in such a Quest, actually, so this is just throwing an idea out there for others to pick up. ) Quest ??- The Little Things "Amidst all the turmoil this city has faced in recent months, we Veterans have noticed that Heroica has become more and more involved with the great affairs of powerful beings and epic battles against tremendous foes, at the expense of the common folk on Uland. To correct this, we are sponsoring a *insert time period here* of peace, in which participating Heroes may seek the common good of the people in less perilous and less violent matters. Those who devote their time to the little things in life will be rewarded in ways that most beings cannot understand."
  20. Admit it, you came up with this character, the Court, and the entire Wren saga just so you could make that pun, didn't you?
  21. Sorona will flee when defeated, except now that Nerwen has equipped the Shackles, she'll be dead.
  22. I disagree, I really like that sword for heroes and knights, particularly mounted knights (where the "tippage" issue is less of a problem). Of course, for the regular footmen, such huge swords would just look silly, but I like that sword because it makes the figure instantly prominent. Plus, it's the only official LEGO sword (to my knowledge) that's been made in chrome, and I'm a sucker for chrome. EDIT: Apparently, the LEGO scimitar also came in chrome silver in a few sets, but that's not exactly the best sword for medieval European settings.
  23. Hey, Arthur DID cave at the end. And then he didn't have to join the Court at all. (Or else Zeph didn't read the translation I conveniently provided for the gibberish. )
  24. Gnnn...trying to keep Arthur from ditching the Quest completely was like swallowing razor blades. (It's a variation of an expression favored by a former acting teacher, don't ask. ) If specific terms of the oath are required and they upset Arthur too much, I don't think I can do much to stop him from cutting and running. He probably would be...except this is a Zepher Quest, which means the players almost never have the ability to completely change the situation the way an ace-in-the-hole does (well, at least not to change the situation for the better). At best, he might have served as insurance that the Quest wouldn't fail...except that that would require fuzzy logic the likes of which would cause Phoenix Wright himself to tear out his awesomely spiky hair. As-is, there's a very good shot that Arthur's going to be Fleeing at LEAST one of the next few battles, just because he's not going to like who he'll have to fight or something. SHEESH it's hard playing a character with an actual opinion of things. ...then again, if Arthur were just a "smash and loot" character, he'd be off in the Fields with Docken and Co. instead of on Quest 53.
  25. "...You are right in one thing, Felton. It is terrifying that the Master may indeed use that very sort of logic against us. I feel he is using it that way even now." Arthur stares bitterly at the others. "Take what risks you will. I would not remain...but for your sake, Felton, and for Vipera's, I will trust your judgement. This is still done against my will. And know this, both of you." Arthur glances at the Gray Wizard before he points accusingly at the Master. "If you try to use this oath against me, as you are using Mephisto's against him, I will hunt you down and end you. That I happily swear." Arthur slowly, haltingly, moves away from the exit, each step a tremendous struggle of will. He shoves Skrall rudely out of his way and lurks near the back of the group, his arms crossed, his countenance full of anger and resentment. "Gos at moph at iv it pedettasz vo fitsuqv Xsep't qmov, apf gos OPMZ at nipinammz moph apf at nipinammz gas at pedettasz...I txeas nztemg vo vje Dousv." Translation: "For as long as it is necessary to disrupt Wren's plot, and for ONLY as minimally long and as minimally far as necessary...I swear myself to the Court."
