Ideas for MOCs
KopMaister replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes the differential is housed as a planetary unit buildt into the axle (I would want to have it in front of the axle).. With the small gears being the planet gears and the two middle gears in this case the sun gear... The input drives the whole outer ring or the housing which turns the shafts for the pinion gears. In this case two of them, again... How ever when one wheel slips the planet gears will transfer all power to that wheel. Just like a real differential will. Here are some more pictures: PS: In my opinion it should be an addition to the tatra axle you already mad,e it looks great. So for that to be possible we need an alternate of the end "caps" which will allow for both the tube-axle and the regular axle to go through. -
Ideas for MOCs
KopMaister replied to efferman's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
How about making it possible to make a real tatra linear differential like the one in the attached photo. I have made a large scale one, but i believe you can make one with 10t gears... For small scale... It requires though some custom parts... For example a tube axle with a 10 tooth gear on one end and a 20t or 12t bevel gear in the other end... And something like the 6 hole pulley wheel the tube axle can go trough...Could you make something like that?? -

Nice as always, Pat! -
Hi. it's been a long time since last moc. on account of me moving. however i have been working on a articulated truck inspired by the Uniknick. like this one: Here it is: the model features (at the moment): - XL-motor for steering. - 2 x NXT motors for drive. Features i would like to implement: - front and rear hitch. - winch. i also mean to build a unimog u4000 or 402 cab for it. however i am not too good at building those sorts of things. i hope you can help me there. Here is the LDD file: http://www.brickshel...thout_motor.lxf Enjoy! Will upload more pictures to my brickshelf soon. http://www.brickshel...gi?m=KopMaister

it looks marvelous!! -
Here is the LDD file for the tandem axle. however the LDD program has always been a little Derpy for me in terms of gears and placing gears, so some are missing :P basically the input shaft should have a 8 tooth gear and the rest (exept the ones in the portal hubs) should be 24 tooth gears. indeed :P parcels from germany usually take 1 day to arrive norway, but from the norwegian custom office it takes almost 1 week if you're lucky :P i once waited three months for a package from Holland and it took two days to get it to the norwegian border :P
-
i paid $60 for the 8287 Motor Box set :P but that contains a lot of other parts too... however the buggy motor alone would've cost me 32 dollars :P
-
well, then you might be happy to know i've ordered 4 x XL-motors and 1 x RC-motor on bricklink pending i norwegian customs :P my MOC does not have limited slip :P the "real deal" does :P
-
Well the lockable diffs were mostly to pose a challenge to myself, as the tandem axles don't really need them :P but in the original truck i believe there is a diff-lock... although i don't want to be quoted on that! Edit: The real truck does indeed have diff-lock however it's a limited slip differential lock :P

Ok.... So i've been moving for the past couple of weeks and thus had to pack and undpack my lego making me unable to keep up with this MOC. however i've made some changes to the chassis...or rather, redone the whole damn thing since last post. check out this new rear axle setup: it features a tandem axle still with a lock-able differential and dropbox. the diff-lock is controlled via 1 servo motor :P (front axle will have suspension and diff + lock too :P) here are some pictures: Enjoy
