  1. I always love Hinckley's creations. The humor is always right on par with the great design! Not only do all of the pictures give clearer details of the MOC, but they also tell a story, and that's fun.
  2. Another of the sets I recently picked up. Great review, you truly show many of the positive aspects of this set. The fig count is extraordinary. I love the sweet sail and the amount of shields you receive. Overall, another of those classics you shouldn't hesitate to snag if the opportunity arises.
  3. Very nice review! This was one of the classic sets I picked up during a recent ebay/bricklink spree, and I have to say it is certainly worth the more money. A couple classic knights, a very cool catapult on wagon wheels, and that barding all make for excellent reasons to pick this up.
  4. This is actually the first installment I've looked at so far, but I like it so much I'm going to go back and look at all of the rest. Really good job, I especially liked how they were having a conversation while the zombie was getting closer. Good attention to detail and I can't wait till you post the next one.
  5. This is very interesting. Sort of how there are some Castle flags with their waves going the opposite way. I wonder how some of these things happen? I'll have to check some of my Imperials and see if I find any difference.
  6. This is a very cool construction MOC. I like the way you've greebled in some hydrolics for the arm, it looks like it has a lot of posability. Are the other vehicles MOCs of yours too? If so, you've got quite the nice little construction crew there.
  7. It's actually because someone placed a new vote in the poll. Without even posting a reply, a thread can magically return to the recent activity list by simply voting. That's what happened here, as it is back on top and hasn't been posted in for over a week. Anyway, I haven't had the chance to snag an Eldorado Fortress, but I do love my Imperial Trading Post. I think it will be interesting to look at it side by side with the soldier dock from the new line of pirates.
  8. Because enjoying time here is part of that real life? I love how a MOD said that, btw. Geeze, negative nancy.
  9. I got that same message today a few times in a row. Then I waited for about 5 minutes and tried again and it came up fine.
  10. After having seen the glorious Market Village for the Castle theme, I entered into a whole new golden age in my Lego lifetime. I had to get some of the great Classic Castle sets. I'll admit, part of it was my shop-aholic addiction, and that ridiculous feeling you get while placing bids on eBay to just keep going until you're broke. Having just had a birthday last month, I had plenty of money left over. Granted I might not be eating out much after these purchases, but that's healthier for you anyway, right? This might seem excessive to some (most), but I never did feel buyers remorse after the dust settled away from my keyboard having just placed 12 Bricklink orders and 26 winning bids or Buy-It-Nows on eBay. The true problem here is, where am I going to put everything? True, I placed most of these orders about a week ago, but I decided to catalogue my Lego Mania exploits here, perhaps to also put all of this into perspective myself. I've been known to go crazy and buy up tons of Lego when I get into that "mood", but never anything of this magnitude. Most of what I bought were used, only a few small sets MISB. Anyway, on to this ridiculous list... - Are orders. * Are other items in the order. Bricklink: -6081 King's Mountain Fortress -6054 Forestmen's Hideout -6066 Camouflaged Outpost -6085 Black Monarch's Castle -6018 Battle Dragon -8 Black Falcon minifigures w/ weapons -6009 Black Knight *1971 Black Knight's Battering Ram *6086 Black Knight's Castle *6034 Black Monarch's Ghost -6059 Knight's Stronghold *3 Peasant minifigures -6040 Blacksmith Shop *6042 Dungeon Hunters -6062 Battering Ram -6041 Armor Shop -6023 Maiden's Cart *Pitchfork *(The seller let me know that the Maiden's hat was red instead of white, and tossed in an extra pitchfork to compensate!) eBay: -6061 Siege Tower -6086 Black Monarch's Castle (Interesting story behind this. The seller had it listed as a Black Falcon's Fortress w/ box. When it arrived, it sure came in the advertised box, but I recognized the pieces from the previous 6086 I had bought! A complete 6086 misadvertised for a really good deal.) -6021 Jousting Knights *6010 Supply Wagon -6073 Knight's Castle -6067 Guarded Inn *6094 Guarded Treasury -6018 Battle Dragon *1491 Dual Defender -1480 King's Catapult *6057 Black Knights Sea Serpent -6066 Camouflaged Outpost *1877 Crusader's Cart -6024 Bandit Ambush -6034 Black Monarch's Ghost -6078 Royal Knight's Drawbridge -6024 Bandit Ambush -6022 Horse Cart *6061 Siege Tower -1491 Dual Defender -6039 Twin Arm Launcher -Lot of Crusader (Lion Knight) minifigs. -Lot of various Classic Castle minifigs. -6080 King's Castle -1463 Treasure Cart -6027 Bat Lord's Catapult *6078 Royal Knight's Drawbridge *6076 Dark Dragon's Den -Lot of Crusader (Lion Knight) minifigs. -6074 Black Falcon's Fortress -6080 King's Castle *6073 Knight's Castle If there are duplicates of some sets, it is because I found another at such a good deal, my Lego Mania wouldn't let me pass it by. Some things I grouped because I won them from the same seller, but weren't part of the sale as a whole. I really wanted a Royal Knight's Castle, but even on eBay they went for ungodly amounts of money. Two drawbridges that lead to nothing. Everything but 6081, the two 6080s, one of the 6073s, a lot of minifigs, 6041, and the lot of 6027, 6078, 6076 have arrived so far. I eventually want to take pictures of my own economic disaster. It's been fun so far to link the various modular castles around in different ways. Right now I have the two Black Monarch's Castles, Black Monarch's Ghost, and Knight's Stronghold combined with the Black Knight's Castle in the middle acting as a keep. This is the most I've ever bought at one time in my entire life. Long live the brick!
  11. I always thought it was a great set because it was a vehicle with plenty of room inside and out. Sure, the deck doesn't have much, but there is lots of space to put minifigs. The inside has many little details that I found neat, like the jail, various accessories, and Jabba's "food". To me the exterior design looks pretty good. It has the basic shape down, and I like how Lego incorporated the multiple pannels that lift up along the outside as you see in the movie. Besides the overall design, the minifigs are great! Jabba, Slave Leia, and Lando in his disguise are just some of the cool figures included. Plus the set also had a desert skif and mini sarlacc for fun scene purposes. All of this for a reasonable price seems appealing to me.
  12. Welcome to Eurobricks! It's always nice to meet new members with such a bright personality! Hopefully you'll find everything to your liking, and I hope to see some of those MODs and MOCs of yours!
  13. And to think I was going to open this topic and see that someone had cut a minifig in half by some barbaric means. This person possesses a great artistic talent, and I'm glad they chose to incorporate LEGO into their curriculum. It's too bad there can't be a class on Minifig Biology.
  14. I have to admit, your reviews are some of the best I've ever read. This set is remarkable in how well the ruins blend with the tree. There may not be much inside, but it is all made up for in the detailed exterior. For a modest outpost like this, the minifig count is terrific! Six forestmen, all fully equipped. You can't get much better than that. How ironic that again you've reviewed a set that I have just purchased! Thanks again for this wonderful review!
  15. Yes, that's the one!! Thanks everyone, you've saved me a sleepless night.
  16. It had to have been from the mid to late '90s. It was a city themed set I believe. It was comprised of a small cabin along a river/stream with a BURP next to it, and another across the water with a brown premolded bridge piece connecting them. I believe there were two minifigures with it and a small 4x4 truck. The whole set was built upon a large plate with water running through the middle. I have been stumped as to the name/set number. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
  17. Oh man, picking favorites is so hard. Pirates: 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner It is such a sweet set. Four cannons with the coolest mechanism for rotating them and switching sides I have ever seen. An easy to access cabin and a full crew make this a great set to display. Star Wars: 7665 Republic Cruiser I could have never imaged Lego would make one. It is by far my favorite Star Wars set to date because not only is it nice to look at, but all of the fun features it has. Cockpit, rotating satellite dishes, escape pod and full interior are just some of the cool inclusions. Plus, I just love the design. Castle: 6085 Black Monarch's Castle This may not have been in the list of themes, but I'm not a big City or Space fan, so I thought I could compensate with Castle. This set is one of the staples in Lego Castle history. A brick built portcullis!? What in the world is that? Plus, I believe, the single largest number of soldiers in any Castle set so far (12). Honorable Mention: 6277 Imperial Trading Post Certainly one of my favorite sets of all time. Soldiers, pirates, and what are these? Civilians? This sweet set comes with a merchant ship! Multiple little buildings create the atmosphere of a bustling harbor. I can't wait till the '09 Pirates come out so I can see how well the new "base" looks next to it.
  18. As others have said, welcome! Thank you so much for this review! Ironically I just purchased this set (along with 6066 Camouflaged Outpost) two days ago from Bricklink, so this has been great for me. I love the way you did the review, more like a story. I've never had a Forestmen set before, so I can't wait to recieve mine in the mail. Thanks again!
  19. Geeze $60,000? I didn't want to shell out the $9.99 for another Star Wars BP.
  20. I liked Alice's response the best. But seriously, I've been foolish in the past too. I had a classic space helmet suck in a garbage can. By the time I got them apart, they were both unusable. Oh, my reckless childhood.
  21. Very nice review! I especially liked how you showed how the ram works. As for the set itself, the tower looks good next to the harbor or castle, as the styles blend well. I, however, was really excited to get the set for the siege tower! It is so detailed with the wooden planks covering the holes. It's a testiment for how well Lego is doing these days in their attention to detail. The seige tower has everything you could want, without the needless flickfire missles. I could imagine the designers being happy as the theme progresses, getting to develope new and cool ideas that would work well with the faction they're working on. I was particularly pleased with seeing the Orc Shaman lady, showing they are going to stick with trolls for at least a little while longer. I can't wait to see what fun details Lego puts into those possible future sets!
  22. Oh yes, very true! Good eye. It's kinda getting the same push that the lightsaber hilt did.
  23. Hey thanks! I'm actually quite excited for this fig. Villian females are rare.
  24. I would be very surprised if they added onto this concept, of course happily surprised though! But this is on the same token as if you would have told me a week ago that Lego was going to unveil a medieval village complete with new accessories, plenty of villagers, without any catapults, I would have said you were crazy. This is a double edged sword for me (much like the one that blacksmith forges ). On one hand, I feel as though this was something to satisfy those of us who have been longing for such a thing, and not something they are going to build upon. Castle seems like a theme that has had the focus on a younger audience, with a few various things thrown in for AFOLs to see the value in it again. It just seems like 10193 would almost have to have it's own line for additions to continue coming. On the other hand, I see this with Castle as Cafe Corner and the rest of those incredible buildings are to the City theme. The thing is, I can't see Green Grocer along side of the newest police station as well as I can see these beautiful new medieval buildings next to the latest castle. Star Wars has a great mix of large special sets mixed in with the ordinary line, and the thing is, they look great with eachother. If Lego was going to put out further sets along the lines of the market village, one every year or so, that would be great! It's a shame, though, that the regular castle line can't be designed in the style of the market village. I can see the rumored Orc stronghold as a fancy outer wall on one side, and not much on the other, much like the bandits hideout was in the Ninja line. Back on topic though... I'd love to see a bakery! Those neat bread pieces and croissants with a hard-at-work baker. As far as when could an add-on be released? I honestly couldn't see it happening before 2010. Lego goes into production long before the release, and until the marketing department sees how well this sells, any idea for additions wouldn't escape the design room until summer, and then production through the fall into winter, and possible pics leaked late '09 and finally hitting S@H in the spring. Obviously this is all coming from someone who has no clue what really goes on behind closed doors in the corporate office, and they could have a slew of prototypes ready to go. Overall, I would love to see this type of set continue with additions, but as has been said before, civilian sets haven't play tested well during pre-production. I really think this was a one time only deal to appease AFOLs, but I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong on that! (No flick-fire missiles in my bakery though! )
  25. Yes, that's correct. It's just that the flat, slanted view sort of distorts the picture and makes an otherwise circular barrel seem ovaled.
