  1. This is probably for the best, in my opinion. Now, instead of adding another faction, they can bulk up the ones they already have. I really do hope that a neat Orc Castle will be included in the '09 Castle sets. Vladek's Dark Fortress was the best thing to come out of KK2. Even the Bat Lord's Castle was very cool, imo. I just picked one up from Bricklink a few months ago, and love it. Lego has always been pretty good about evil fortresses, so I hope this (if it's even true) follows that trend.
  2. Very good idea for a topic! This had really gotten me thinking, although it ended up in depression because I truly cannot remember the first set I had. :[ When I was really little, my parents didn't buy me Duplo, they bought me System, even though I was under the age for it. I didn't really build with the instructions then, just dumped the pieces from the box into a big container so I could make something of my own. Kind of upsetting when you think about it. I truly don't remember what age it was that I had begun playing and building with LEGO, but I've been doing so consistantly all of these years. I can remember my mom coming into my room and stepping on pieces and yelling at me to clean them up. Then one day she couldn't stand it anymore, and bagged them all up and threw them away! Horrible times. My mom always said, some day you'll outgrow these. Well, I'm in my third year of college now, and I love LEGO more than ever.
  3. I'm a big Guns N' Roses fan. Not the current stuff, but the old stuff. Appetite for Destruction is one of the greatest albums of all time. I find myself playing it over and over, especially on the long drives back to school. Velvet Revolver has a few good songs so far, but I don't think they'll ever match what they had in the past with GnR.
  4. Once I turned off the ebay advertisements, the forum loads just as quickly for me as any of the other forums. :]
  5. While I can't see all of that happening for $100, I certainly hope that you're right!
  6. I don't want to bash anyone's hopes, but some of the minifig numbers I'm seeing in some of the 'possible new set ideas' are a little...much. I mean, the Republic Attack Gunship was over $100 and only included 5 figs. Something more reasonable would be the same minifig count as the Hoth "gate", but a little more to the design of the set itself. As for Endor, I can see it being a fasade with a few fun features on both sides. At most two speeder bikes, a couple main characters and a couple generic soldiers from each side. I really don't think there would be a walker of any kind, at least not in a $100 set. After all, $100 isn't very much in the grand scheme of things. For a set that includes a decent base, a walker, multiple speeder bikes, Ewoks, main characters, soldiers from both sides, foliage, and multiple accessories, I'd couldn't see it selling for less than at least twice that.
  7. I'm sold! While mining seems to be a common job among LEGO inhabitants lately, I could see using these in all sorts of different ways. How about a big mechanised battle arena with the Stone Crusher going up against the Thunder Drill.
  8. Very nice and detailed review! I just picked one of these up this past weekend, and I love it! You really capture the good points well.
  9. Yay for Eurobricks! I think this might actually be the post that makes me a citizen! :0 Ooo I guess that was two posts ago. First time I noticed, though!
  10. I don't mind the colors, prelim. or not. Pretty cool that they went with a mostly vehicle line. The largest vehicle looks pretty cool, from what you can see. I would really like to see a base of some sort. I'm not too impressed by the technic pieces, but they do kind of make the models look a bit more 'industrial' if I had to give a bright side. Not too bad, overall. Probably better pics will clear some things up.
  11. No way! I'm going to gobble those Impulses up. And the pirate base?? How cool! I love it.
  12. No, this is horrible news! As previously said, though, hopefully the figures included will also be in future sets. There is still hope!
  13. Well it might just be my personal opinion, but I don't think that is a bad thing. LEGO going against their 'no violence' policy has been a plus in my book. TLC coming out with a contemporary war type theme?? Please, don't get my hopes up. Now as for Power Miners, I hope that it is what Rock Raiders tried (and was at points) to be. I loved the concept and the sets had a really unique look. I think I only picked up one of the sets while they were out, just a small delivery cart type thing, but I would love to get the full line when these come out.
  14. I...I don't know what to do. I've never been this excited for more than a couple lines. I still need to pick up the latest Star Wars... Pirates, City Construction, City Farm, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and now Power Miners. I can't keep up with what we have, let alone what we're going to get in the future.
  15. Pirate Ship What I like I love the fact that it's nicely sized. Obviously they'd want to put out a really neat one right away, but I still love it. I think the oversized rear issue is actually a good thing. That probably means there's going to be a cool interior! I love that it comes with both pirates and soldiers. Adds some playability right out of the box. Cannons! Regardless if there is an oddly placed one in the back, I am so happy they went with the old style and not a Bionicle launcher or something. The pirates themselves. I've read some grumblings about their design, but I think they are so cool, and remind me of the later pirate torsos. What I don't like I'm not a big fan of the sails. The masts don't look as bad as RBR, which is awesome, but I don't really like the design on the sails. The number of pirates. Granted there are soldiers as well, but I thought it was so neat that the SES and BSB came with 8-9 pirates. I'm sure I'll be buying enough of the cannon set to fill out the ranks though. The Cannon Set What I like Small, affordable way to get a cannon, soldier, and pirate! Very cool to buy multiples of to really build up your forces. What I don't like Nothing really, this set is so cool. If I had to pick something, it would be a more orginal barricade. Island What I like The bearded pirate! So cool! I'll say this here since I haven't yet, the telescope! I actually like the design of this set. Broken down stuff is always neat to me. I can understand the 'teeth' pieces. It's like they killed something like a shark and attached it's teeth to the dock. Kind of looks like the Islander's sets in my opinion. What I don't like Really the only thing I don't like is the baseplate. There are too many smooth edges and not enough studs. Soldier Base What I like I love the multiple buildings like the Imperial Trading Post. I'm fortunate enough to have one, and this would look so great beside it. The minifigures! A cool mysterious man in black, in addition to some soldiers and pirates. I know I'd only be getting my hopes up to think that it's modular, but oh well. I know there have been other sets in the past with similiar looks that didn't end up being modular, but who knows! What I don't like The number of minifigs. While there could never be enough, a couple more would have been nice. It looks like the brick printing on the walls is actually stickers. You can see them overlapping multiple pieces, and are in different places on similiar walls. Not too bad since you can choose whether or not to add them, but I would have liked the old printed pieces. Raft What I like I actually enjoy the structure of the raft. It's just big enough but not too big. Again, I just love the minifigures. What I don't like The octopus is a little strange. Sure it could prove to be a hindrance, but that's about all. This goes for all of the sets in the theme, there aren't that many weapons to go around. I remember the old sets always had more than enough. Overall, I love the beginning of the theme, and am sure that it can only get better. I'm sorry if I didn't give enough criticism, but I'm just so happy to see them back, that maybe I'm blinded.
  16. Obviously personal life and school comes first, but LEGO is def. a big part of my life. My friends might joke about it every once in awhile, but generally they are cool with it. I think the main thing is to be forward about it. Everyone I know is aware of it, and I make sure of that. Of course I don't rub it in their face, but if me and some friends are out at the mall I say that we should stop by Toys R' Us on the way home. Sometimes I even get some of them to build with me so they'll feel included. Mostly the girls think it's "cute" that I like it at my age, and the boys could care less.
  17. Kliq

    Shocking!

I always look into Jordan's threads expecting to be impressed, and this was no different. I think it's your use of parts that sets your style apart from others. Another cool little build with plenty of creativity.
  18. Since we aren't aloud to post the pictures, I'm not sure if we can talk about what we've seen in the pictures, so I'll try to be as modest as possible. I can't believe they went in that direction! That is the most perfect way I could have ever dreamed of. Even the set design is far from what I imagined! This just blows me away.
  19. Happy birthday! I can't wait to see what you'll build next.
  20. I was fiddling around with the few Bionicle figures that I have, and I decided...I really enjoy them! So I made this purchase a little while ago on S@H: 8694 KRIKA 8699 TAKANUVA K8685 Phantoka Collection 8911 TOA MAHRI JALLER 8913 TOA MAHRI NUPARU 8912 TOA MAHRI HEWKII 8914 TOA MAHRI HAHLI The last four are on sale for 5 bucks a piece. Then I was doing some research online about older Bionicle sets, and found three more that are very cool, and can be added to eachother to create a huge dragon. So I bought these all together in one lot on ebay (it was like $80 cheaper than buying the dragon set itself): 8733 Axonn 8734 Brutaka 8764 Vezon & Fenrakk Quite a buy on an impulse, eh? I was originally going to buy some of the new Star Wars sets, but about three of those cost as much as all of this put together.
  21. I would really enjoy seeing the old cannon brought back, or at least a variation of it. I know Fat Tony used those spring loaded shooters as cannons in his contest entries, but I'm still not sold on that idea.
  22. I love these so far! Maybe it's because I'm in complete agreement, as the Exo-Force hair looks horrible amongst regular figs and I still haven't come around to liking the flesh tones. I can't wait for #8! I love these so far! 23. Very cool! You have such great attention to details in all of the MOCs of yours I've seen. The light system usage is very interesting also. I want to see the movie now just because of your series.
  24. LOL! Good one. I don't see how it could offend someone, it is just a play on a name. I think it's a funny concept that should be expanded!
  25. Way to go guys! It was a very good contest. I'm happy to see two of my three picks make it!
