Woo hoo! Let's build up our forces!
-
Wow, seriously? I guess that makes sense. Otherwise I was like, "Uh, these 'bricks' are a little expensive. Each one is between $10 and $80."
-
I was just thinking about that earlier. How many police stations do you need vs. how many star ships do you want? That's not to say I don't want a Galaxy Squad base one day. (Because I really do.)
-
Yeah, seriously. I'm thinking about using him as a 'go to guy' communicating between units behind the front line. "Billy, will you go get the Vaporizer pilots some coffee, please?" Very true, they make a nice 'horde'.

You're welcome! Ooo, sounds fun. :]
-
Sure! Like this?

Yay, I finished a little while ago! I wasn't a big fan of the Insect's vehicles at first, but building them has brought me closer to them. The human vehicles are still my favorite, though. Wow, I just love them. My job is not exciting. I mostly get yelled at all day by people who don't pay attention to their finances.
-
Yes, life is good. In addition, my building marathon last night lasted from 8 pm to 1:30 am. I managed to complete the three vaporizers and two obliterators. Now that dinner is over, it is time to complete the rest.

Sweet, I just finished a quick build of 70701 before I launch into a full on building marathon. It's an awesome little set, the ship has great swooshability and the insect's speeder is pretty nice for what it is. The only issue I've come across so far are the colors in the instructions. It was hard to put the ship down and get ready to start building the rest.
-
Heck yeah! I can't wait to get it all set up and start blasting away.
-
Woo hoo, my Lego order was on my front step when I got home from work. Let the building (and battles) begin! Btw, I already can't wait to add the next GS wave to my forces.

This times 1,000. I know the fleshies have their fans, but I always trade out their heads/hands if I buy licensed sets.
-
These new descriptions make me very happy. If nothing else, the figures should be really nice.

I have to disagree, at least a bit. The most recent preliminary images I can recall being changed are the LotR sets. There were new pieces introduced and small set alterations for the final product. Also, don't say that too loud, some of us still have hope for these sets!

When you're going for realism, sure that floating tower on 7094 is NOT realistic, and neither are many of the other spaces. Does the front of 7094 look much more appealing than the prototype we've seen, though? I have to say yes! The prototype gives another example of the classic phrase often used to describe unfortunate building techniques, "big gray wall". Yes, 7094 has many illogical spaces, but I can forgive that because at least the 'fantasy design' appeals more to me than six of those flat, blank walls stacked up and next to one another. It just screams laziness. Don't get me wrong, my problem is not the piece itself. I am actually a fan of it, and the piece castles used before it. I even like BURPs! I think they look nice when used right. That's my problem, though. These prefab wall pieces are not used well, in my opinion, in the prototype castle. They just stacked them up and around eachother. I've never seen such a bland forewall, and that includes, unfortunately, the awful KKII Castle of Morcia. Like I said, this prototype castle looks so much like the Fisher-Price TRIO Castle. I can't say that enough, look it up using Google Images. Castle is my favorite theme, above all else. I just don't want to see it taking a step backward, which the prototype seems to suggest. Like I've said, though, I'm looking forward to the final product because I'm sure it will turn out pretty good. I'm going to buy all of these sets, including multiples of some, no matter what, though. I can never get enough Lego castle.

I think being of this mindset (not seeing the difference) might be one reason you and some of the others are having a hard time understanding the issues those of us not too keen on the pictures we've seen are having. Trying to be specific, compare the gatehouses. The prototype has those tall flat walls. Kingdom's castle has more depth and detail. It is a stylistic thing. For one of my more major complaints, look at the tall back tower in the prototype. You can see two empty rooms. Compare that with the tall back corner tower in Kingdom's castle. One is much more appealing than the other. I have to stress, though, that I understand the prototype will change, and I am still very hopeful it will eventually look much nicer. Also, the comparisson is not to KKI (except for the lion logo) so much as KKII, where the style of the sets were so open and without logical design. These prototype sets aren't THAT bad...seemingly.

I just took another long look at the prototype castle to see where my disdain comes from. What I see is a smooth flat front made up almost entirely of this piece http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60808. It is nearly an entire wall make up of those pieces! "Uninspired" is a great word. It is highly unattractive when compared to the last two castles.7946 and 7094. Before those castles (and this is the tie in to the KKII comparissons) we had 8823 and 8781 as the flagship castle sets. These sets were awful designs. The design of the 2013 castle is a step up from these, as at least it has four walls, but I can still see an overuse of the big pieces reminiscent of KKII and illogical spaces. 7946 had some great rooms, with doors even, and nearly everything had an access. The prototype picture seems to look more like the Fisher-Price TRIO castle than a Lego castle. Still, it is a prototype picture and should be appreciated as such before writing off the look of the sets completely.

Ooo, thanks. I hope you don't mind, but I have to borrow that look!

This is a great MOC! You know a little tiny detail that I absolutely love? The knight in the third to last picture. Is that hair from one of the LotR sets?

I disagree with the point that bigger pieces mean less time spent building and more time playing for Lego's younger audience. The Castle of Morcia 8781 is widely considered the worst Lego castle, as it presents the highest level of juniorization during KKII. It had 637 pieces. On the other side, we have Black Knight's Castle 6086, widely considered to be one of the greatest Lego castles, with 588, fewer than that of the Castle of Morcia. This just goes to prove that Lego can do more with less, it is all about the design. From what we can see in the blurry preliminary pictures, it looks like a lot of BIG pieces. It's a shame that they can't take a page out of their own book and build sweet designs like they did in the past, even with fewer pieces. Don't forget, the much loved 6074 Black Falcon's Fortress only had 430 pieces. I still am, though, holding out hope that these sets will look better in their final forms. Edit: Wow, Eurobricks code switches out the word J U N I O R I Z E D for a sad tag.

Wow, stunning! It looks just like Grauman's Chinese Theater in Los Angeles! Anyone who has a problem with that sort of architecture should take it up with them, as it looks like it was directly inspired by that existing building. I'm not unhappy about the limo, it looks pretty good to me. It looks like an old 50's Buick. The only problem I have is that I'm running out of room!!

Yep, certainly looks like an ode to the original Knights Kingdom, but with a KKII style of build. I am just thankful these are preliminary, and am hopeful the final build will see them get a nice dressing up. Currently, I think 'duplo feel' is exactly what I'm seeing as well. Bleh for now, but still optimistic!

Administrator "Rick" locked my post? What is going on?

Personally, sad to say, I am glad he isn't going to stay. If topics like that are what we could expect from him in the long run, all I see are a lot of arguments and unhappiness. Those kinds of topics do nothing but try to upset people and drive arguments, not civil conversation. -
I did some digging and saw where the colors of the Polybags were discussed earlier and had a look at the instructions. Yep, you're right that is an orange figure. The bag picture made it look so red to me, and I didn't understand why there was all this talk about the red trooper being all by himself. Now I see. It also makes more sense. Since Red is all about speed, that little mech did not look that fast. Then again, it doesn't look like it has all that much firepower either, which is what Orange is known for.

What? The only two polybags I've seen come with either a Red or a Green trooper.
