Thanks for the patriot decal it looks awesome I can't wait to use it! Here's the picture of my paint helmet. Its still got a little way to go yet however. Also I rewatched Iron man 2 yesterday and had forgotten just how different warmachines armour actually is . I look forward to seeing your decal for it when its done.

They will most likely change his face to look more like the actor in the film. They will also probably change the colour of his suit to a darker blue or sand blue depending on how he looks in the film. After seeing the Amazing Spiderman Megabloks they do have one thing that I wish LEGO did ( I know shocking right ). They have Spidey in every set but there not the same. Each there's normal Spidey, scuffed Spidey and full blown it's been a tough day Spidey. It would make a lot more of the Batman sets more appealing to me if some of the suits had damaged looks.

Agreed I would love an iron patriot decal from the upcoming film. I just finished painting my spare Iron man helmet to look like patriots today. It would be much appreciated ED-209. Also a Warmachine variant would be cool.

Suddenly losing all interest in a whole theme?
Sam892 replied to purpleparadox's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Recently I've lost a bit of interest in star wars. I'm just to busy looking at all the other great licence sets like superheroes. It happens to me every now and again but it won't last to long. -
If Sony or 20th century fox don't make a new film for that franchise in 5 years then the rights revert back to Marvel. So those companies have to keep making films for Spider-man or X-men to retain the rights. However Marvel can pay to get those rights back. Marvel have a very limited input with X-men and Spider-man films. They don't get to pick directors or the majority of the cast. Instead they just advise and say what they would like to see. They have some control but not as much as if they own the full licence. A great example of this would be X-men origins, Hugh Jackman was in charge of most of the film. He hired the directors and writers, he even convinced the studio to commission the film in the first place. Also in terms of the helmet mould. One mould has given us potentially 9 characters, both Warmachines, 6 Iron men suits and another possible suit that Stark may create in the third movie.

Saying that I'm wrong implies that I have made the story up. In fact I'm right as I have read online on several news sites that Marvel may purchase or are purchasing back there characters. If the information is wrong then the new sites are wrong and not me. Also Marvel wouldn't just purchase back there licences because of money but the main reason would be control. X-men origins and last stand were terrible films that butchered several Marvel characters. On top of this Marvel just got the licences back for Blade and Punisher. Admittedly the recieved them because there are no new films out containing those characters. That's the only reason for the new Spider-man film because sony had to release a new one in order to retain the licence. Back on topic it's useful that even though Iron man's suits change in movie his helmet stays the same. It means all we really need are some colour swaps here and there and new prints. Apart from the Mark I off course.

Don't know if this has been said yet but my Local TRU has a promotion where if you buy a selected set you get a £10 gift card. There are 5 sets the only two I can remember are the Y-wing and the funhouse. If you want an extra £5 off robinsons fruit shoots have a coupon on the side.

I would have thought that when Marvel was bought by Disney that it included all previous products they own. So there should not be a problem there. The only problem I could think is Megabloks as they didn't manufacture and sell sets based around Iron man 2. Knowing Lego they would have most likely got the rights to all Avenger films and individual films ( Thor, Cap, Hulk and Iron man). Also I read recently that Marvel are going to use the Avengers box office money to purchase back the film rights to all Marvel characters. Hopefully this means that we may see future sets based on the X-men films, the Fantastic Four and Spider-man not to mention the countless others.

Ye I love the new Hulk figure the size is perfect. It's a shame his legs aren't posable but it's a sacrifice that has to be made to get such a great looking figure. I just hope that we see more figures his size like Juggernaut, The Blob,Bane and Solomon Grundy. They can even reuse the mould to make a Red hulk. I've said before but I really hope they increase the number sets per year for this theme. Increase from 6 each to 8 each and more frequently. It looks like there wont be another wave this year unless those rumours about 5 more DC sets are true. They need to come out every 3 months that way there's two waves for each company. Guess we will have to wait and see.... Edit: I just saw that as well. Oh well he can always be used as iron patriot in my MOCs. Hopefully we will still get a normal looking Warmachine.

Agreed one Gillian in perticular should be easy to do just a new paint job. Also I'm looking forward to some of the heroic characters like Happy Hogan and Warmachine. Hopefully if we do get Thor 2 and Iron-man 3 sets they backtrack a bit like Lego did with POTC. That way we can get one or sets from the previous films. Hopefully getting the Superman licence doesn't mean that the marvel sets next year are all non film sets.

I don't think that was what was meant I think it was more the point of that Dumbledore was gay.

Looking overt some of the licences that have been produced its hard for me to find one that hasnt benefitted in someway. POP gave us two new hair moulds (Dastan and Tamira) a new hat ( the cloth scarth head dress) and the big round domes. POTC gave us a bottle and some new hair moulds. Both these two themes have given us some great additions even though the themes were unpopular.

My favourite Avenger hmmmmm..... It's a tough one but in the recent film it has to be Iron-man with Thor second. My favourite Avenger from the comics is Wolverine. My favourite figure has to be Wolverine. I like the Thor fig but the hair is too light.

Ye I usually get those lines on my C3PO figs but I don't think there cracks. I think it's just where some of the dye sits when it's cooling in the mould.

Hello everyone, the other day I bought the last marvel set I needed to complete the collection ( the quinjet ). I was in the Lego store with my cousin who I have just converted back into a AFOL. She said as we walked out " Lego was a lot different when I was a kid there wasnt as many colours or parts, and there was certainly no Licenced sets". This got me thinking that theres a link between the two. In my opinion the new bricks and colours that the licence sets create help benefit standard themes. Some of the parts we use frequently today could have never existed if it wasn't for star wars or superheroes. So I ask all of you guys do you think Licenced sets benefit Lego? Or do you obstruct and coverup the original themes?

Price increases in the secondary market
Sam892 replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
There's lots of reasons why theres a price increase. The first is availability, If a set is exculsive or is always sold out then it's most likely going to increase in price. Secondly minifigures are a huge factor, figs like Lando that are very rare increase by a huge amount. Thirdly the original price sometimes affects the after market price for example smaller sets tend not to increase by as much money as larger sets. Lastly it's the theme of the set. Licenced sets always have an advantage of original themes. There's more interest in old Licenced sets than there is in old city sets. If your looking to invest in some sets to sell later I would look at the superheroes line, modular buildings, Lego direct sets, star wars UCS and lord of the rings. I think that the funhouse set will increase by a lot when it ends it's run. It has a lot of the above factors like exclusive, Licenced, rare figures and a medium price range make it a great investment. -
I think the reason the first wave of DC sets were mainly all Batman was due to 2 things. First of all the old Batman series was such a collectible theme that rocketed in price, Lego wanted to give people more chances to get some. Also I think Lego was waiting for the realise of the video game to create interest in other DC characters. Lots of younger kids probably don't know who the flash is or who green arrow is. What better way to generate interest in these characters than to release a video game that makes them look awesome.

In the original press release Lego said that both DC and Marvel were multiyear licence agreements. On top of this the superheroes line has sold extremely well. Nearly all the shops in my area apart from toysus sold out of the Marcel sets with in the space of about 2 weeks. By the time the film was out there was only ultra builds left. Even if the licence wasn't multiyear then I'm sure Lego would renew it just like they have done with Star wars. We still have one Spider-man set to come and at Comic con we will most likely see prototypes of sets and prototypes of minifigures. One of the reason we may not have already seen prototype images could be because they are spoilers for TV shows or the upcoming films. It took us a long time to get pictures of both waves after the theme was announced and the prototype figures were shown.

Ye the funhouse was a surprise but right now the sets are equal 6 for DC and 6 for Marvel. Unless Lego are going to release a few more sets to counter Lego batman 2 and Lego batman the visual dictionary.
