  1. I highly doubt that TMNT is included under Superheroes. Although the Turtles originated in comics, the sets are based off the new Animated series. Second if they were included under the Superheroes banner they would have it written on the box. I see TMNT as a replacement for Spongebob as they both, come under the Nick banner.
  2. I disagree with the whole DC winning statement. Batman Begins and the Dark Knight are incredible films but there not Batman to me. To me Batman is the Bat family, they are so important to him in the comics but Nolan discarded them easily. Characters like Nightwing, Robin and Batgirl are as important to Batman as Joker and his villians are. The Dark Knight Rises is a terrible film, there is so many plot holes in Banes plan is almost laughable. On top of that Batman spends half the film in a prison cell. Sure Batman back got Broken in the comics but, when I pay £10.60 to see a film I want to see Batman. Thing that really destroyed that film was the whole Robin thing aswell. Green Lantern, Superman returns, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin and Superman 3 & 4 are proof that DC don't know how to handle there properties. That's not to mention the Justice League film that they have been trying to make for 15 years. If Marvel have shown anything over the past 6 years its that they are willing to: A). Create quality products instead of rush through terrible films. B). Spend time and Money creating a Universe that many Cinema goers are invested in. The whole Justice League saga that's currently on going shows, DC are just trying to get a film out that might be able to ride the Avengers band wagon. DC expect to be able to create a Universe in just 2 years following MOS. To me that's terrible, they don't even have the rights to Green Arrow and Wonder Woman. Both those characters are tied legally to TV shows. So the Justice league will feature the following: Man of Steel Superman Batman that's either a reboot three years after the last film, or not Bruce Wayne or Bale comes back and ruins the happy ending Wayne got in TDKR. Green Lantern Aquaman And most likely Cyborg. IMO DC are struggling to even compete with Marvel.
  3. I'd rather see Spidey in a New Avengers team with Iron fist, Luke Cage and Daredevil. Just because they're more street based heroes, to me at least. Where as Cap, Iron man and the main Avengers team are more international based. I'm hoping Captain Britain makes an appearance in the winter solider. Maybe Cap and Fury go to England at the start to try and get some evidence of the winter solider. Then just introduce him to Captain Britain, which would set up an Excalibur movie in Phase three. One can dream right?
  4. They were never called Nazis in the sets or video games. There was never any nazi flags or emblems in the sets. Plus the soldiers were simply called German soldiers. It shouldn't be a problem as the Red skull is more linked to Hydra than Nazis, even in the film he says he doesn't care about Hitlers vision. In the comics Hydra and the Skull have been linked to so many different groups (Nazis, Communists and terrorists). I'm sure there's a way LEGO can get around the problem, just call them Hydra soldiers, give them Hydra logos and it would be fine.
  5. I don't think the amount of sets would be set out in the contract. However I see next year more like this for Marvel: 2 Captain America sets 2 Guardians of the galaxy 1 Ultimate Spider-man 1 X-men set S@H exclusive (Like Arkham this year. Most likely X-mansion). That way they cover all the Marvel Franchises that are having movies next year ( Cap, ASM 2, GG and DOFP). Just like they are ready for this year Iron man, Wolverine (last years Chopper showdown will still be on shelves) and most likely Thor.
  6. Here's what I said a few weeks back about the possible connections between the two franchises. Personally I think its very likely, especially when the Avengers made 2 billion dollars. The Sequel will most likely make even more so I can easily see Sony wanting a slice. Even more so when you look at the money problems at Sony. Sure Spidey most likely appear as an Avenger, but he can easily mix with other heroes at Marvel. Daredevil, Punisher and the Heroes for Hire. The lady who produces the X-men films at Fox also stated interest in crossing the X-men with the MCU. While this one is less likely than Spidey, it would be IMO easier to join a Universe than start one. The rumour is that Mark Millar is also interested, but I think they want to first fix the X-universe in DOFP.
  7. Or even a LEGO variant cover. Marvel and DC do so many variants of covers I don't see why they don't do LEGO ones.
  8. The thing to remember is that the Superheroes theme isn't even 2 years old yet. When Star Wars came out in 1999 it only had 15 sets. The whole Superheroes theme had 12, which is pretty good considering all the other licence themes LEGO has. No other new licence themes have 12 sets a year. This to me shows that LEGO is treating this theme as a long term investment. The only concern I have is the amount of MCU sets on the Marvel side. I can think of at least 3 sets that could be cut out to make room for others.
  9. Or even the Invisible Woman from the Fantastic Four. The possibilities certainly stretch further than just Star Wars, which makes it even more exciting.
  10. I disagree, the flood alone make Halo more mature than LOTR. A parasitic life form that eat any life form, and take control of their bodies. On top of that there is a lot more blood in Halo than LOTR, plus the Weapons and vehicles are very militaristic. It's no suprise that Lego chose not to make Halo sets, I mean the games are rated 16+ where as LOTR are rated PG.
  11. I certainly hope they increase the number of sets next year. With all the MCU stuff its slowly pushing the X-men and Spider-man stuff out. In the next 2 years we have Thor: the dark world, Captain America: the winter solider and Guardians of the galaxy. Hopefully they all don't get 3 sets each as that's 9 sets. Looking at the this year and last years that's 3/4 of the whole superheroes wave.
  12. I always thought that Ant-man was originally meant to be a phase 2 film, but got delayed into phase 3.
  13. I don't think there has been any information yet. However I expect it will be announced at Comic Con. It's quite a while until phase three, and Marvel will most likely try to build hype towards phase two stuff.
  14. The winter wave is considered to be January 2014. It won't be till comic con in July that we get to see next years figures. That's how it's been the past two years, and I can't see LEGO changing it now. I'm not a fan of the short time between the waves but they make sense.
  15. No more Batman this year. However as far as I'm aware DC doesn't have any movies out next year, so expect a larger Batman wave next year.
  16. Same here, I'm collecting as many points as I can. I expect a Marvel S@H Exculsive next year so I'm trying to get as many points as possible. I have 224 and I'm going to get either Arkham or a Modular plus a couple of Iron man sets.
  17. Beat you to it! Ye it is quite strange how there's just the one. According to reports UK LEGO stores have the Mansion attack in stock aswell.
  18. The Extremis Sea Port Battle is available on the UK S@H. No sign of the Ultimate Showdown or Malibu Mansion Attack yet however.
  19. I saw that a couple of days ago. The whole Page 3 victory thing is ridiculous ( while they have a point about the paper ) I don't think that's the reason the promotions ended. I've heard a lot of rumours about the promotions moving to another paper, which I'm not sure about. I loved that we got the Polybags cheaper , but it was frustrating getting up early at the weekend, having to que with some of the worst and rudest people in the world and have to constantly watch people push in line. On top of that its a bit frustrating seeing a Polybag you really like but having to wait till the Sun promo to get it. I'm hoping they move to putting the Polys in shops, they are great stocking fillers and cool little gifts to put in cards.
  20. I'm kind off on the fence with this theme. I don't know if I'll buy any off the sets, but they could give us some very cool parts ( saxophone, Doughnuts, ect). I just suprised there is still a market for The Simpsons. I'm hoping that its part of a bigger deal with Fox. Something like 'We will allow you to make sets on X-men and Fantastic four movies, but you need to make LEGO Simpsons'.
  21. I thought the Mansions price would be £39.99. Either way its an extra £5 off I can use on something else. This year I'm mainly buying my LEGO through LEGO. Mainly because the VIP system gives such great rewards. £5 off with every £100 spent is great. Hopefully if there is a Marvel S@H Exculsive next year ( Come on X-mansion!), I can get it for free with all those VIP points I'm collecting. Also I agree Spider-man we get the better deal. Although you get to swing round the city shooting webs. So you win overall haha.
  22. Great news! Looks like I'm buying The Daily Bugle and the Malibu Mansion next week. I can feel my wallet getting lighter each day.
  23. Comics are enjoyed by people of all ages its true, but the business isn't like it used to be. The majority of comic readers now a days are teenagers and adults. As a result of this Comics are a lot Darker than they were 20 years ago. Look at Batman, Daredevil, Uncanny X-force and even Superior Spider-man. While there are still comics aimed at Kids today, they are mostly more adult themed. Also its no secret that the comic industry is losing sales. Last year Marvel Now and the New 52 boosted sales but, its still not as safe an industry as it once was. Another problem is where to buy Comics. In the UK super markets don't sell comic books and, the only place to purchase them is in a specialist store or the Internet. The TV and Movie side of the industry however is the opposite. Superhero films are more common than ever. On top of that they get such a wider release to the public. I'm guessing that more kids saw the Avengers film than read the current comic. As such it makes sense to base stuff around films and TV shows that have a larger child audience. On terms of Characters I agree that Daredevil and others are key members in the Marvel universe. But it's a large risk to invest money in a set which contains characters who, are not getting as much exposure as other characters. That's why the Ultimate Spider-man TV is great for LEGO. Spidey is constantly teaming up with other heroes and villains. At the moment that's are best way of getting certain characters, just look at DR Doom and Beetle. So hopefully Spidey will team up with Daredevil, the Fantastic Four and others, as LEGO will most likely loosely base sets around it. The one problem the Superhero theme has is certain powers don't translate. Mr Fantastic is a prime example, how do LEGO create a Minifig that can stretch? Or Giant man? How does lego create a larger figure that connects to bricks, and maintains the appearance of a Minifigure? While I'm sure we will get these characters, they will be a huge challenge for LEGO to create. After all what's point of having a Superhero or villain if they can't be played with in accordance with there powers.
  24. I've got my fingers crossed that he could appear in the MCU. Maybe Captain America 3 or the SHEILD TV show. So hopefully if he does we will get him as a figure.
  25. After viewing the new Iron man Trailer I'm suprised LEGO didn't make a larger set for the ultimate showdown. From the trailer it appears that there will be Iron Patriot, the Heartbreaker suit, Hulkbuster, Deepspace suit, Silver centurion and another 37 suits. I'm hoping that if we are getting another set in the Fall that its based around this and not Thor 2. Instead pushing a Thor set to a January release. The Iron Legion seem every important to the story, and while I don't expect LEGO to make all 40 suits I would have expected more.
