  1. If there are possible idle positions, then maybe the reason is that the selector wheel is oriented in the wrong way. Is the axle of the selector restricted mechanically (hard stop)? Is cable holder there for that reason? These might be stupid questions, I don't have any experience with the new PU system and its self calibration methods and quirks related to it. I'd guess the self calibration needs a hard stop. So if the hard stop and selector wheel are not aligned properly, you have a problem that may result in various strange behaviors depending on how the parts are misaligned.
  2. Maybe a totally stupid question, I don't have time to look into the functions of the model, but does the selector mechanism engage something in all four positions? Or are there possible idle positions (regardless of the control program, I ask only from mechanical point of view)?
  3. I haven't seen this much complain about any other set. There must be something wrong with the instructions. Not mistakes but the way it is stepped, or the view angles, or I don't know.
  4. I meant the small parts. For example building the Saturn V would be a huge pain in the *** if there weren't many colors. Okay, those colored beams in the Porsche are really too much and I haven't looked into the build in detail.
  5. This color vomit thing is not so black and white (). For me, it is a huge help to quickly fing parts during rebuilding sets. Rebuild means breaking down the set to pieces, then build the same model again, and it's so much simpler (and thus entertaining) that I don't have to pre-sort parts because I can easily differentiate between al those tiny parts.
  6. Yup, I guess they also knew what they were doing when they almost went bankrupt….
  7. They could do better, and I don't really understand why they don't. They have a bunch of dedicated set designers, it's not some parts manufacturing company with the secretary assigned in his/her spare time to design some sets just to have some sets too. The Technic line will soon fail to the knockoffs if they continue the trend of getting more expensive but not getting better (or getting worse) in building quality. The prize of the new Ferrari is bloody outrageous.
  8. This. Also the old technic connectors, U-joints and half bushes or anything with those small teeth fractured all the time. One thing that bothers me most is that the friction of this part greatly increases in some cases. This causes hard or impossible to operate functions (mostly doors and hoods) in models that have been assembled for a long time. In one case this lead to part breaking on more occasions until I realized that the pin was the root cause of breaking.
  9. That's a nice start, but to be honest, I'm not a fan of the solution for the steering wheel rotation. At this scale I would try to have a more realistic solution (U-joints & crap)
  10. This color inconsistency was especially funny when I looked at some different lime toys from totally different sources and manufacturers. The difference was smaller than the differences I saw on the images. I don't have the real Sian, for the record.
  11. I love the proportions and the shape as it is. With the tires and beefy fuel tank. I can picture Tom Cruise on it in a M:I movie.
  12. If I could join, I would build something like this: I'd love to see some really old veteran bikes in the contest.
  13. Do the wheels have to be circular? Or any other shapes are allowed?
  14. I may be wrong but isn't the 18+ label only there because the stickers with tons of trademarks?
  15. I said I haven't looked into it. IT was merely my general impression that Technic is shifting towards licenced good stuff category vs. the obligatory cheep just-get-over-the-design-phase category. I may be wrong, as I haven1t looked into it.
  16. It's a nice parts pack for someone not buying any Technic sets since 3 years like me.
  17. Sorry, I haven't looked into it in detail, but: All the unlicensed sets lay inside the small and lame Technic category? Or worse, only the smallest +pullback sets are unlicensed?
  18. For me it's very simple. My models should be buildable and easy to disassemble by anybody else (including kids) without craftmanship, without worrying that parts would be deformed and without the need for careful part selection - no reliance on loosened gears for example (I almost always offer some instructions or digital files for free). That's the best way to test a design. If my models are made of Lego parts, then obviously I play by their rules that can be learnt for their stock models. It also means I try hard to use only current parts, not very old parts. Sometimes I fail in that regard (I prefer 8070 car style hubs over the new ones because of the low profile).
  19. It's hard to discuss about something we don't see and know of. We do see the shape and scale now. So don't go nuts
  20. I think the flex axles above the door are right. It's the roof that seems off.
  21. Hopefully with a crosshole on each sides, as ther1s only stud space.
  22. Ummmm. I might have to buy this. Red parts, rims.
