General Discussion and Announcements
surrideo replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I know there are no official sets but Doctor Who mafia would be great -
A mixture of its style and colour choice I'm sure was a defining factor in that Overall they are a random collection of vehicles they all have(the hunters) A van/truck(not a mystery machine I promise) would have been good for them to have a hub of sorts as they venture to the monsters lairs.

I echo what has previously been said. Sites like this allow for me to wallow in nostalgia and remember the sets I longed for as a child. Excellent review and glad it's been built after 22 years in the cold

It's a good mech to get your basis off, if you have extra ball joints you could add in extra articulation in the knees etc. A nice build though. Bet it's something you'll keep tinkering with lol

I think you need to be to cover the range of martial arts that Ray Park knows or at least it certainly helps. Got the Blu Ray box set and so have watched the film recently, your opinion is like many I've heard and I'll hold off going to the cinema to see it. I do however hope AoTC gets the 3D treatment as it should work well though I'm still not sold on the whole concept. Watched Man on a Ledge. Complete hokum but brilliant popcorn movie, leave your brain at the door.

They are great sets but they are definitely too expensive. My favourite set is the Triceratos trapper and it is exceptionally overpriced along with the T-Rex hunter and tower takedown( the latter two that I haven't bought yet). I hope the line sells well but it doesn't appear to be shifting on they toy shelves near me, like the second Atlantis wave last year

Great review, a bit from the comic perspective which I like. Never realised the Joker had a mech. Some Alien conquest pieces and pieces from this set and I may encourage the kids/myself to have a go at it later. Thanks

REVIEW: 6862 - Superman vs. Power Armour Lex
surrideo replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Licensed
I loved the style of this review and more so the extended comic in the comics forum. A lot of time and effort went into these posts and reviews and they have certainly broke up the monotony of my day this week. Thanks -
A little bit of a shameless bumping of this thread but I thought since the other two reviews of this set are on the first page it would be good to have another original take and perspective on this great set so that anyone on the fence or just interested in/considereng this set can get a great all round feel for the set as I feel each review offers something that little bit different. Late to the fray but thanks for this review, I would always have bought this set but it wasn't available in the UK when you reviewed it and it gave me all I needed to know that it would be a great purchase

Could work well if it was treated like the architecture series and released in the same year as said stadium was being used for a Champions league final or world cup. Make it limited edition, be a nice collectors item

The peeled down mask on the back of the Wolverine figure is indeed a great touch. Touch of nostalgia creeping in but I'd prefer Captain America to be a lighter shade of blue closer to the American flag, but I accept this is the Avenger film version and not a comic rendition. I think we will see Green lantern in sets and I assume it will be Hal Jordan as thats what they used for the film and he is still around in the New 52. The character has had so many aliases and different Lanterns. I grew up reading a lot with Guy Gardner in the Justice League so thats who I always think of first. As for the Batcave, I have it but I would wait for it to come down in price. It looks empty without the Btamobile being in it and the villains are arguably not as iconic as they could have been. Penguin come back all is forgiven.............

"Easter eggs" are deliberately placed references/extras or in-jokes included in a product for the consumer to find . A mistake is a mistake. An Easter egg hunt is set up deliberately (usually) for children to hunt out the eggs. However if you randomly find an easter egg in the street it's just because a child dropped it....and please don't eat it

The firetruck "Red" from Pixar's "Cars"
surrideo replied to Henning Birkeland's topic in LEGO Licensed
Beautiful, I'd argue that Sheriff is even better than Red. I wish I could try and make this for my kids but I know I am definitely missing a lot of the parts and its just looks so dense. So much work must have gone into this. Well done, great talent. -
My link Credit to Brickset and @atkinsar if he frequents this forum under another name

True, well piggy backed onto the Joker(as per). Still not sure why the riddler was in there apart from it made the set very, very desirable. She was in the Dark Knight ableit in civilian guise and for about two minutes
-
Agreed. It's only been taken off that way so the guy/lady could get a picture of the back printing. Imagine if it was one piece though? The modern lego minifig=action figure would definitely ramp up a notch

What's with Lego sets nowadays?
surrideo replied to Squishy Stelactite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
And the whole arguement from the beginning had no weight. I think if you want a challenging build thats what the modulars,UCS and technic sets are for. Lego is for kids( and big kids ) -
Sitting in Starbucks, meant to be working but this made me laugh/smile. Thanks

That is a nice set. Never knew that they made that. Its a pity Harry potter is gone( for good/for now). A lot of good imagery from the books and film in such a small set compared to some more recent lacklustre sets. So its seems fair game for the undead to rise from their shallow graves and atatck the living. Maybe lego could have included some scared civilians in a couple of the sets like Alien conquest. To be fair they can be easily substituted into this theme

I think Mxyzptlk is great but I'm not sure if he is big enough even though they randomly brought him into Smallville. I liked the idea of Doomsday and the part to where Superman was killed. It was the resurrection(Like the Batman travelling through time arc) that got to me. I think he would make a great minifig but I suppose he would have to be built sort of like the Hulk. I think next years "fabled" big set with Superman is likely to be a Daily Planet facade(hopefully with telephone box ) I think Justice league sets are going to be the way the "lesser" lights are brought into it and may be an opportunity to introduce the lesser known villains that don't always make tv/movies/cartoons but feature heavily in the comic canon. Could almost make a green arrow fig from existing lego parts except that none of the eye masked faces have a beard.

They aren't low quality, they are small but quite clear and not blurry. Due to their size you can't pick out detail, true. Thanks for posting them, sometimes we are far too quick to discourage on this site due to the anonymity the internet affords.

I have only got the one zombie from S1. A set with a graveyard would be the most obvious for that figure but I'm wondering if Lego grave stones would be a no no for lego to produce?
-
There are so many DC/Marvel cartoons recent, current and in development that if this theme does last say 3 years or more that sets could become like Star Wars and be based on the comics, current/past movies and cartoons. The style for these could move in the direction that the Clone Wars sets have done. As controversial as they can sometimes be seen to be.

I'm personally from the camp that doesnt't care where the figures are made.Even if the bulk of figure parts come from Mexico or wherever I put my mortgage on Iron Mans helmet coming in a separate bag from china. Didn't do Wonder Woman and Superman's hair any harm. I really like the idea of The Green Lantern fig coming with a preorder for Lego Batman 2 or A N Other exclusive fig like the young Han Solo that came with Padawan Menace or Voodoo Jack with PoTC. However Lego HP 4-7 came with the lab set so perhaps one of the polybags already revealed may be included with the game? As for Flash etc I wonder if the Superheroes line will ever take inspiration from current or recent cartoons and characters like Flash,Green Arrow get released in Brave & The Bold sets(for example). Yes I know The Brave and The Bold was/maybe still is a comic title that ran for years. EDIT Just reading about the Lego Batman Visual Dictionary via Brickset. That too should be the source of an exclusive minifigure
