Heroica RPG- Quest #96: Tying up Loose Ends

"Aah, thank you my lady. Well, you could buy a room, but that's fairly pricy, and pointless if you have a place to sleep, or we can sit outside, they seem to be too busy sparring there to be spying on us anyway." The Rockling goes up to the Bartender, and a moment later comes back with a big plate filled with shiny rocks and a pitcher filled with water. -

"No one else seems to have any problems with it, so thanks for the welcome. I won't let you down, oh man, I can't believe I'm rolling with actual gangsters. This is going to end up great for me, I just know it." After the necessary eye rolling, the party continues on their way. Soon enough, they reach the place Mortimer was talking about. The door is unassuming, and there's only a sign that clarifies that it is in fact a tavern, so naturally the party is filled with an appropiate amount of suspicion. When they go in however, they are met with a place where food and drink flow freely and often... The bar seemed stocked... And there was even a courtyard directly connected to the bar to enjoy the Strivvian setting sun. "Well then, here we are. The Green Hero. Or the Blue Hero, as it seems to be now. Errgh, I don't suppose you can spot me the gold for a meal and a drink, those thugs did take my pouch, I'm sorry to say." -
"There, towards the sounds!" Guts takes a Mead, Nostrum and Smelling Salts.

"Hmpf .Do not presume to lie to me, old man. If the Daymaster has told you that, you would not have no idea who I am. I see you or any of your friends doing anything I do not like, you're done. And next time you're going to lie about you're profession, don't make the frightened girl your leader. Move out." With that, the soldiers turn around and march away in the opposite direction. The heroes started to follow Mortimer, but are stopped again. "Wow, you're like a gang right? You kicked the Wolves's megablocks in there. What happened, was this about territory, is this your turf now? Hey, do you think I could join your gang? I have a sword, and I know how to swing it? I could be like an intern! Yeah, an apprentice to learn how to be as thuggish as you! I won't get in the way, I promise!" -

"Hmmm. You're bringing in mercenaries now. You tell your Daymaster I want to have a little chat with him soon. It's time we rethink this relationship. I'm Captain Gwyar, of the Strivvian Army. Clearly you've been shipped in recently. Hmm. " -

As the heroes move out of the warehouse, they notice there are more people standing outside, the guard they left alive quickly closes the door behind Mortimer and the party, and continues the conversation he was having with the other people, heavy armoured in the same armour, but with no visible weapons. "See, nothing is wrong with my collegues, they are A-OK. No need to force us out, right?" "Hrm Hmm. We had a deal, your end of that deal was you would remain quiet, and wouldn't cause any problems. People heard explosions, How do you explain that?" "We still have a deal. Something probably just fell over inside. Everything is fine, I promise!" The person looks up, towards the window. "Hmm. And you." The soldier looks at the heroes. "Anything to say?" The man in the leather armour that was guarding the door shoots the heroes a knowing look, and then winks. -

Boomingham spends an ether to make the lock fragile... And causes the lock to be more susceptible to breaking, but also more susceptible to being blocked. (the odds changed to a 50% chance to open the lock, and a 2/6 chance to block the lock and lose 3 WP, with a 6 causing the weapon to break and the lock to be blocked. Atramor levers the knife inside the lock, and... causes the safe to spring open! It seems Boomingham's scroll reading helped, and was not for nothing, after all. Atramor finds a Ruby inside, as well as a sack containing 50 gold, and the knife used remains in good condition. "Aah! Well done, well done. I was thinking we could go to this fine tavern I know a few blocks from here... If here is where I think it is, warehouse district, east of the palace? Yes, yes, it's a good place, if nothing has changed over the months, that is. Unless you have any more questions?" -

"Well, I never! I certainly did not do any of those things. But unless these chaps, there are some of those thugs that are not complete halfwits, they eventually found what they were looking for among my research. It's been a while you know. They might get word of this happening soon, and their priority will then be to intercept you, as I said, I believe I was mostly just bait at this point in time." -
Obviously there is something in the bank that some chaotic good/neutral person needs. The heroes can take whatever else is there as a reward, if they can get away with it. It would be amazing.

"That vault...? It's just one of the things that's here. I think this was originally some pirate's warehouse... OH! You mean THE vault, chap! Of course, of course. I know where it is, and the Wolfgang, or the daymaster and the nightmaster and their ilk know it now as well. What do you know of it? You know of course that in the stories the vault contained whatever the opener wanted. The holders of the key... Which should be you! Of course, we can't know for sure if the stories are true, but for the chance that they are, someone should open the vault before they can, so the wolfgang can never use the contents of the vault for their own plans. They suspected you would come for me, and that you would have the keystone, that's why I was under such heavy guard. Something must have ticked them off, there were not near as many guards as usual. You came at an oppertune time! The staff, turns out to be a large Flail. Over-Sized Flail - WP: 16 Does double damage on targets that are CLEARLY smaller than the wielder. Hammer type weapon. The safe doesn't open. Does Atramor want to risk one of his weapons to possibly force the lock, and possibly cause the weapon to break? (A die will be rolled, at 1-2, the vault will spring open, at 3, the vault springs open, but the weapon will lose 3 WP, at 4 nothing happens and the lock will be blocked, at 5 the weapon will lose 3 WP, at 6, the Weapon used is destroyed, and the lock is blocked) -
What do you think he meant?

A quest where the players are given an objective to rob, some kind of map, and as much openness as possible, they should plan out the best possible heist, and the qm responds. It would be incredibly awesome. And of course, as many things as possible should go wrong.

Atramor cuts the rope, Skrall catches the man, and sure enough, soon the rockling is back on his feet. "Ah... Much better, now were did those scoundrels put it..." The Rockling rummages through some of the boxes, and then pulls out a brimmed, brown hat, that he plants on his rocky head. "There, can't be an archeologist without it, now can you?!" The rockling stretches his legs, for as much as a rockling can, and proceeded to answer the questions asked of him. "As you already guessed, I am Mortimer, the great archeologist. It seems my reputation precedes me, ho ho. I'm fine, even though hanging around, or being locked up, chained in different places for this long is unpleasant, even for a rockling. I thank you for saving me, even though it couldn't be timelier. Those chaps are dead. Them trying to kill us again would be a new experience for me, although I'm sure it happens to you all the time. We can discuss things here, quite right. Gems, miss mage? I am quite a civilized rockling, if I may have the audacity to describe myself as such, I will refrain from nibbling on your baubles unless you wish for me to. Worse for wear, to be sure, to be sure I am tired and these chaps did not take the effort to feet a rockling proper things a rockling needs. I'm as much rock as the next rockling, I could do with a good meal and a strong drink, how about you chappo's? Tell you what, ask what you will of me, then we'll go to have a good supper and a nice drink, and then we shall go to your safehouse!" Ellaria looks around for anything useful, but there's a lot of boxes, barrels and other containers. Perhaps she would like to be more specific of where she suspects something useful might be? -
Guts attacks Warhound A from the front row, then Aroughs from the back row. Same battle order.

Consumables take a turn to use. If this item was created differently or used differently before, then that were two mistakes. I'm doing it as it should according to the rules. I am making a call here, and I'm sticking by it. You could easily have circumvented it if one of you (e.g. Boomingham or Ellaria) slipped Nyx a Smelling Salts, as well. Venom is also not affected by fragile. The extra 40 damage from fragile/poison is added to the enemies. I do not believe it'd make a difference elsewhere in the battle. Results of round 4 of the Wolfgang Warehouse Liberation Atramor throws Gaia Bomb. 100 earth damage to all enemies, Hireling knocked out, Operator knocked out, Pyromaniac knocked out. Skrall uses Phoenix Incense - Boomingham and Ellaria revived with full health Boomingham vs. Wolfgang Pyromaniac Sellsword - Shield Guardian Angel Ellaria heals Skrall - Nurture Less - Skrall healed for 26, -1 ether Nyx combines Rudra Bomb With X2 Free hits: Rapidfire Contraption vs. Atramor - 100/2-26=24 Rogue Knight vs. Skrall - 75/2-8=30 Deserter vs. Boomingham - 50/2-10=15 - Counterstrike, Deserter knocked out. Sellsword *Poisoned: 10* Level 60 Humanoid Health: 128/600 Defense: 30 Special: Assault: Causes the target to take 60 damage and only be able to focus on the Sellsword, forcing them to attack the Sellsword every round until the Sellsword is defeated. Drops: Nothing Rogue Knight *Poisoned: 10* Level 75 Humanoid Health: 196/600 Defense: 30 Special: Disarm-and-Taunt: The Rogue Knight's superior technique forces the target to spend a round to pick up their weapons, and jinxes them.
