Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job
Scubacarrot replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
The bottom of the cup has nothing remarkable on it. The plant is a plant. Atramor's herbiology skills have not increased since his last job for the Town watch, so unfortunately he is unable to identify the plant, but it has long spikes on it. Atramor is careful not to touch the plant itself, in the book he just flicked through, he thought he saw this plant, but he was unable to remember if it was under 'deadly poisons' or 'cures'. The parrot statue has fallen over, Atramor sets it right. It seems to be made of the same kind of stone as the stone dagger, and it looks ancient. Atramor's faunology skills are unfortunately not up to par either, and he does not know what kind of bird it is supposed to be, but the bird looks very lifelike. The skull is either human or elven in nature, and Atramor finally catches something! A small 5 is engraved on the top of it! Ellaria picks up the stone cup and puts it back down. Nothing happens. Ellaria succesfully steals from the Archeologist. -
Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

The chest does not open. The items on the table seem like everyday items, the cup is an empty stone cup, it's impossible to tell what was last in it. For some reason, it's the only item that's standing up straight. The brush has some hardened ink or paint on it, but the colour does not match any of the maps here. The maps were looked over already, maps of the seas and deserts around Strivvi, Ellaria does not find numbers on them. The gold coloured paperweight is just that, and has no numbers on it. The bone is a bone, the party can not tell what animal or being it's from, it's probably got something to do with the occupant of this building being an archeologist, the party figures. -
Two things: One killer knows this stuff. If the other investigator is of the common kind, win with either side kind, he would be terrible to change sides now. Then don't make us lose. If we sit here and do nothing with the evidence we have. What do you suggest we do? Argue some more without evidence? Sure, it worked out well in the past for us, but do you really think that will continue to work? I don't see why you want to protect these people. If you haven't noticed, Hervi was scum. Okay? Hear me? Hello? So that means he was lying about stuff? Okay? Believe me I invented that strategy he used. It's up to us to catch those lies. You want to sit around doing nothing while the remaining scum are going to slowly kill off our powerroles? I do not. Your strategy sucks. It only helps the scum. If that's insulting, then I'm insulting. Deal with it. I could not give less of it. The last one that was insulted was Hervi. And he was scum. And he died. Are you scum? Are you going to die? You tell me. Just on this day, you say: Let's hope there's only two more left. Now that's a very odd number to say just now. In most cases, there are 5 proprietors. How do you assume there are 6? We haven't gotten evidence for conversion, now have we? And what about that message you send me? I'm gonna die, go after Dragmall, Petrus, and Hervi, boo hoo. Now we all know Hervi was setting himself up to lynch, I have little doubt it was his plan, or tried to make it his plan, somehow. But really? Why would you get killed, you haven't been useful to the town in the slightest. On day one, you and your buddy seem to be lobbying to lynch the -innocent- Bergulf, and make the sudden switch to Danr when the bandwagon was formed. Does that condemn you? No. Does it help you? Nooooooooooo. As I said on day two, Jormund, the dirty scum that he was, at one point explicitly agreed with you. Does that prove anything? No. Sveinn Joked around with Hervi. He was more interested in catching a neutral than nailing a lying duplicate investigator. But then! Then, he votes for Hervi! The dumb scum! Does that prove anything? perhaps! He voted for him at a time where he would never be lynched. Wow, there goes my hope of clearing you, Sveinn. Later he unvotes because he is not sure anymore, apparantly. Fair enough. No biggie. Then what happened? You tried to dissuade me from going for Hervi, good attempt. But no deal. On day three, nothing of worth was found in Sveinn's statements. I'll be frank, I'm not convinced you are scum, but from your attitude, which reminds me of Hervi's: Smug, downplaying , It would not surprise me. At the end of the day, it's simple. You can quote me on this one, I say it's on par with lynch all liars!, Scum or Dumb! and more of those wondrous awesome sentences appropiate for near every situation. Hear it is: WHO IS NOT HELPING THE TOWN, IS A DIRTY SCUMPANTS. Let me ask you this: Are you helping the town, Sveinn?

Atramor looks through the books, one of them's about growing plants in arid environments, one of them's about the creatures of the desert. Several seem to be journals in the strange language the party does not understand, and the last one is about excavating with explosives. On that one, Atramor sees something odd written on the top right of one of the pages. It's a small number 8. Ellaria finds no numbers on the papers, and her pushing the panel yields no result. -
Okay, right. But Cranebeinn also said Hervi knew about Hephaestus. I never said bring all the PRs that Hervi knew about in the open, that'd be kinda stupid. But the ones that he does not know about have no business staying silent. Haste makes waste? Really? Are you actively trying to get us to lose or what?
-
I want to know this. So there is this Hephaestos, who according to Hervi had an action just to confuse things. Now we all knew and know that was a load of hogwash, but now he is claiming inventor? Since Hervi knew, and thus the remaining scum know/knows. How about this is the first thing we get on the table. Who is Hephaestos? This is not the time for backroom tactics, the scum know everyone that played in the little alliance of epic failure. I'm just saying, the quicker we get the cards the scum already know on the table, the quicker we win. I feel like I need to say this, but in my private conversation with him, Hervi said he trusted Finn. Not with so much words, but I suggested he was suspicious, which Hervi discarded immediately, and he later brought him up again when in thread I followed his vote for Gerrid.

Wait. So we have this "protector" who apparantly felt woozy one time. And then there is this Juno. Who may or may not be a protector. Are they the same person? Or what?

It does not seem to be a coffin, it's actually just the lid of one. Nevertheless, Boomingham does not seem to be able to move it. -

The dagger seems to be made of stone, it's not particuarly sharp, but it looks old. Perhaps it is one of Mortimer's finds? On the desk are several pages from a journal, but it is in a language none of the present heroes understand. Also on the desk, several maps, some from the oceans around Strivvi, some from unmarked deserts. None of them jump out to Boomingham. -

Unsurprisingly, the lock does not open. The bottle is closed with a cork, but it contains water. -

The chest is locked. Skrall tries to break the lock, but he fails. Breaking the chest might hurt the contents, he figures, so the only option is to find a way to open the lock. Skrall takes a closer look, and sees that there are three digits on the lock, which you can turn to 0 to 9. It's a combination lock. -

The stone cup is empty. Under the table are just more blank papers. -

Nobody seems to be watching the house. A few people pass by, but no one pays more than a second of attention to the ogre. -
I changed my attack to cover the Revenant Nobility.

Oh sorry, I misinterpretated the joke then. I don't think it's true you can't add anything, Beorn. I haven't seen an original thought from you on any of the days. Your style seems to be to show up to say something about the events of the night, and then to show up again when voting has begin, and you've gone for the popular vote every time. Not a bad thing, two out of three have been scum, after all. But it does not do anything to steer you in the clear. If you've been talking to people in private, which is good, I encourage everyone to do it, if scum don't slip in thread, they might in private, you might give us some insights? Are/Were any of the people you're talking or were talking to scum? Did you talk to any of the deceased and did they have any worthwhile thoughts. The problem is, Beorn, you look to be flying under the radar to me, along with some others. I deliberately chose you to ask things first because you seemed the most suspicious, and you still do.

The party goes through the door, weapons raised. No one speaks a word, they open the door further and inside they find... No one. But they do find a whole mess, someone trashed the room. What will the party do? -
What browser do you use? I can still do it.

How about bringing forward the PR's that Hervi knew about. The remaining scum know/knows about them, anyway, and it can help not wasting our effords on these people, or perhaps help nail them. Keep in mind it's a distinct possibility more than one scum existed in Hervi's group of scummy gods. Something stood out to me from yesterday, namely Beorn's behaviour. To me it seemed like he was annoyed with me. The only logical reason I can think of for that would be that he was annoyed because we were lynching his buddy. I think it's very possible Hervi vented his frustration among his buddies, and that caused him to turn angry with me as well. Look at this post: That would be fine, if it were not that his earlier other post, where he said he laid out his reasons very clearly, is this: Wait. So the reasons you clearly laid out is that he's been reading through the discussions and found it the most sound option? To me it seems like he's slipping under the radar. Lack of comprehension is a great tool for avoiding participation, I'd say. Furthermore, he interacts with almost no one, and then makes a joke post with someone that's found out to be a scum? Yeah that's not suspicious at all. Beorn, I'll be frank, I think you are very suspicious, and would love some serious and original input from you. I hope you can see where I'm coming from.

So we would kill Sycamore with a phoenix essence, then use the phoenix incense, and have only the demons to fight? It can't be that easy, can it?
-
Awww Yeah. Serial killer, now I actually WANT to be you, cuz you're a total badass! It seems just a process of elimination now, there can only be one or perhaps two left, can there? More from me later, I got a test to make. A vikingly test.
-
Still counts.
-
"You want to help the poor? Well, I killed a freaking archdemon, so screw you. " The Heroes in Quest 39 fought a clocktower...
-
Very awesome and worthy conclusion. I'm just saying, if the party wins, Guts is going to be insufferable because he can say he killed an Archdemon.
-
Cool, thanks. "An Archdemon, ey? Never killed one of those before. This should be good." Guts throws his Throwing Knife at Mephisto, then attacks Revenant Nobility with Fafnir.
-
Not if people give you the blurps, isn't it then just a matter of copying and pasting? Your way seems more difficult to implement, honestly.
