  1. Looking pretty sweet! BTW, less than 400 votes left! I really hope this gets made into a set... I know that I'll be buying one for sure!
  2. That thing is HUGE! Not to mention chunky and solid looking, just like the rest of the ships in the Space Police I series (I also had the Galactic Peace Keeper at one point in time, but all I have left of it now is the red windscreen, which is currently part of my oldest surviving MOC). You totally nailed the color scheme, and as others have said, the giant-sized SP logo is definitely a touch of class for this leviathan of space.
  3. Well, even though my Toys R Us trip proved fruitless (although they did have a pile of Reef Wreckers on clearance), I'm glad to see that the rumors were at least true (for Canada anyways).... My thoughts on the two sets revealed thus far: Is it just me or does it look like, based on the Blue Squad robot, that the Blue Squad could be easily integrated with the ADU from Alien Conquest (or vice-versa)? I wonder if that was intentional as a "peace offering" to those who were disappointed that AQ only had one wave.... I really like the alien ship, especially since it looks like it could easily be used for more than just an insectoid faction: I mean there is something just positively LOVECRAFTIAN about the design, and I have a sneaky feeling that the Space Bug sets (or design elements from them) will become the norm for my Chaos Air Force. I can't wait until they come out around here, particularly the cheaper army builder impulse sets.
  4. Well, I'm glad you like the guns at least.... I'm thinking about posting this (at least the closeup of the front) over at the Brick Arms forums if anyone wants to use this technique. BTW, I can't believe I did this, but I accidentally included two Left side shots instead of the front view like I meant to, so I've fixed that now....
  5. Very nice patrol boat, and faithful to the original! I also like the pursuit/boarding craft you built in the back.
  6. I've decided to take a short break from my Vic Vipers and do something a little different... Since it seems that other people here have made some Alien Conquest revival MOCs, I figured now would be a good time to post this project. Early last week I managed to find a MSIB Jet Copter Encounter set on Brick Link for $29, so I decided to grab it... I was kicking myself over not buying one when they were out in the stores, because I'd been wanting to use the parts/basic shape to make my own unholy hybrid of a Warhammer 40K Vulture Gunship and the Aliens Orbital Dropship ever since I first saw the set, so without futher ado I present the Buteo Class Gunship: ADU Gunship Left by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr The Buteo Class Gunship is the result of a top-secret joint military R&D project between the Airborne Demolitions Unit (ADU) and the Federal Republic of America (FRA) in the Post-Final War era. Sporting nifty V/STOL capabilities and armed to the teeth, the Buteos were soon to prove their worth on the many battlefields of Post-Final War North America in their close air support and airborne artillery roles. ADU Gunship Front by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr This picture shows why the Buteo puts the "gun" in gunship: Its armament consists of four blaster cannons (wingtip mounted), 2x dual merculite missile launchers (wing mounted) that use the same standard short-range missile as the quad launchers on the Mobile Command center, two laser cannons (mounted above the wings), two 38mm autocannons (use the same ammo as Federal and Republic of New Jersey patrol boat deck guns), and mounted dead center, dual 20mm Vulcan cannons for dishing out the punishment. ADU Gunship Top by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr This particular Buteo belongs to a mysterious pilot whose callsign is "Nabii". The only things known about him are the fact that in addition to being an ace pilot, he's also a master engineer and has a strong aversion to the color teal... ADU Gunship Interior by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr ...and of course here is the pilot in question, nestled in his pilot's seat, with the control sticks and surrounded by weapons control and other consoles with switches, dials and blinkenlights. ADU Gunship Bottom by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Finally, we have the obligatory undercarriage shot showing the landing gear and vectored thrust ports for V/STOL and hover mode. Well, I hope you like this project of mine... I was initially going to ditch the stickers (well put them in my sticker container), until I noticed the "Nabii" name block next to the unit number (similar to how it was done for the Nnenn Vic Viper), and since Mark is one of my favorite LEGO designers/MOCers (his "Cthulego Rising" diorama is what got me back interested in LEGO after an 8 year hiatus), I couldn't resist. The Vulcan cannons are the part I'm happiest about because, to the best of my knowledge, I'm the only one to come up with this technique thus far: The ends of the Vulcans are extra Brickarms Minigun tips (you get two different tips with each minigun), but while several other people suggested being able to use them in a similar manner, there was always an ugly-looking gap between the tip and the shoulder of whatever stud hole it was inserted into. As I was driving up to my in-laws' house this Saturday, a solution to the problem hit me: If I used the One Ring element to cover the stud and fill the gap, it should work, and it seems that I was right. Also, as soon as I can source some white tail fins and white or red 3x3x5 engine cylinder pieces, I'm definitely making one in the Federal Republic of America Air Force red & white livery. Comments and such appreciated as always.
  7. Well, TRU tends to have a habit of releasing some sets really early: I remember seeing Garmadon's Fortress and one of the other larger Ninjago sets at the local TRU where I live around this time in 2010 (i.e. about 2-3 months before they were supposed to come out).... I might see about trying to swing by there tomorrow after work and see if they have any of the 2013 sets available already. If so, and one of them is affordable (the store doesn't allow cameras), I'll try to buy it and post a review.
  8. Yes, please post pics! (and I might have to scout the local TRU to see if they have any as well...)
  9. I think, personally, that this is just a rumor started by some of the trolls over at Something Awful or 4chan... Seriously, Disney is at the point where any further acquisitions run an extremely high risk of running afoul of Anti-Trust legislation, and one thing for certain is that can put the skids on anyone. Don't believe me? Just ask Microsoft or AT&T about how much good being a huge monolithic corporation will do you against the government.
  10. Nice! I've seen Mark's various Counterblast mechs on Flickr, and you did a perfect job of re-creating the design in ADU colors.
  11. I'm not much of a Star Wars LEGO collector, but I do like to pick up some of the sets and/or battle packs for parts/minifigs from time to time. My definite "must buy" sets from this wave are the Sith Trooper and Republic Trooper battle pack as well as the A-wing and possibly the Z-95 HH.... The Sith and Republic troopers both work with one of my faction's troops so I'll be buying multiples of those, and the A-Wing and Z-95 have a lot of useful parts and useful minifigs. I might also pick up some of the new "planet" micro build sets as well.
  12. Well, TBH, I don't usually hang out in the Star Wars section of the forum, although I think I added your Naboo VV to my Flicker "Favorite" list (if not I'll do that now before I forget).... I just happened to notice this thread while passing through.
  13. Ooh! TIE Vic-Viper I'm guessing?! I should have thought of doing something like that for Nnovvember.... Can't wait to see the rest of it.
  14. Excellent game everyone! I enjoyed reading every minute of it, and I also feel kinda bad for Waterbrick Down having done such a good job as town and then gets converted on the last day.... Oooh! Could you please post it when you get it finished?
  15. I just showed this thread to my wife the other day, and as predicted she went gaga over all the animals. Also, I just noticed that that stage set with Stephanie has a matching electric guitar.... So it would seem that the girls have a rock band with Steph on guitar, Mia on drums and Andrea on Vocals/Keyboard... All they need now is a bassist and possibly rhythm guitar (maybe Olivia and Emma?). I also like how they incorporated the Ninjago elements into the Karate Dojo, and the bonsai tree is simple, yet effective. I might actually have to get that set.
  16. "I'm a space knight, on a steel horse I ride.... And I'm wanted (waaannnteeed) dead or alive." Nice hover bike speeder thingy, Peppermint! Looks almost like something some swoop gang member or junkyard wars contestant in the Star Wars universe might build. What?! I'm guessing that this is some really down and dirty British street slang or something, because I can't quite make heads or tails out of this statement and I'm normally good with languages....
  17. Nice swooshable shape, and I must say I LOVE the engine pods! I never really thought of using those hexagonal pieces like that before....
  18. Thanks guys! Fun fact: This was more or less the color scheme I originally was going for with the bad guy Viper I posted last week, but I didn't have the parts I needed in dark bley, so I opted for the Blacktron II colors instead. Another interesting fact is that the Ocford/Kre-O rough equivalent of this piece: (but 2x2 instead of 1x2) actually didn't work when I used it to attach the windscreen. Apparently the clone version of the horizontal clips is offset from the LEGO ones by about 1/2 a plate's height, so I tried using two of these parts instead: , and it fixed the problem.
  19. Well, I'm not entirely sure if this belongs here or in Community, due to about 50% of this MOC being Clone (Kre-O) parts, so if necessary, please move it. Anyways, I actually liked the Kre-O Battleship aliens as well as some of the parts in the sets and I just got the one alien attack craft set and decided to make it into a Vic Viper, so without further ado, I present the Alien Viper: Excerpt from "A Guide to Non-Human Sentients of Post-Final War Earth" by Erin A. Tarn: "In the Wastes, on the site of what used to be Billings Montana, is a colony of friendly alien refugees. Hailing from the planet Kreon in the Sigma Draclonus system, they were seeking a place to settle when their colony ship was shot down by the ultra-paranoid Eurospace anti-orbital defense network. The Kreons had only just finished rebuilding and re-purposing the ruins of Billings and got their unplanned colony up and running when they were attacked by a particularly nasty band of raiders. Thankfully, the ADU Mobile Command Center was on patrol nearby, and the ADU commandos sent the surviving raiders packing. Grateful for the rescue, the Kreons entered into an alliance with the ADU, and using a combination of ADU and salvaged Kreon technology and materials, they came up with their own Viper variant. Their Vipers now help the ADU, Federal Dragoons, Lakota Trackers and Lone Star Rangers patrol the barren wastes." Alien VV Pose by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr The Kreon Aliens' Vic Viper is a unique blend of human and their own native technology, and the weapon systems reflect that: The primary armament is 5 laser cannons, derived from the ADU's Vic Viper, with 4 heavy plasma cannons, based on their own technology as well as dual Zenon missile launchers. Alien VV Claw Extended by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr The craft is also equipped with a retractable grabber claw that is most often used for quick insertion or extraction of ADU, Lakotah, Lone Star and Federal special agents into or out of particularly difficult areas. The primary propulsion system is a fusion-ion engine, with auxiliary ion engines mounted under the wings. Alien VV Side by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr The landing gear system is ultimately derived from the setup used on Federal Republic of America Fighters (such as the F/A-210 Thunderbird), and trails down slightly even when retracted, allowing emergency "belly landings". Alien VV Underside by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr (Undercarriage shot showing landing gear and claw in the retracted position) Alien VV Interior by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr The cockpit is much larger than the standard dimensions of most Human fighters, to take into account the Kreons' large stature (it would probably work for Wookies too), meaning that if a Human were to fly this ship, they would need a special booster seat and control extensions. In this photo, the hybrid human/alien avionics and targeting system is also visible. Alien VV Pilot Pose by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr Finally, here is a pic of the proud pilot and her viper, freshly returned from a routine patrol of the area surrounding the Kreon Settlements surrounding New Billings. Now some 4th wall stuff: As I said before, I used a combination of LEGO and Kre-O parts in this build, and really enjoyed the challenge of getting everything to work together and look good, and I think it turned out fairly well. I'm particularly happy about finding a good use for those weird "Brick, Modified 2x3x2/3 w/2 studs, Wing end" (to use Brick Link's description) and how the under-wing engine pods turned out. I ended up spending about 9 hours working on this thing, with about a dozen false starts before I hit upon this exact color scheme and design. I may see about getting parts (including buying another Alien Attack Kre-O set) to build another one of these (I'd need to make another Brick Link order, though). I hope you like it, and don't judge it too harshly for using clone brand parts....
  20. Yeah, I also downloaded the LXF file for the tractor as well as the pump wagon: With a few minor modifications, the wagon could be changed into a typical manure spreader that most of the farmers around here use on their fields (though they are just spraying liquified cow crap, thanfully!).
  21. Nice interesting style viper you built here! Also, due to my brother and I having owned the 6952 Solar Power Transporter, it happens to be in one of my favorite Classic Space Color schemes as well. :D
  22. Okay, here's the improved version, along with a little more backstory: -Begin Transmission- Classification: Secret To: Special Agent 006.5 Subject: Skull Clan Vic Viper Space Fighter Status: Origins traced and verified. Agent Colloidal Snake, I have had Ñ do a search through the archives at Site R to see if he could find any information on where the Skull Clan could have gotten plans or materials for building a Viper-class fighter. In addition, I made a quick trip to the Wizards' university in Georgetown, DC in order to enlist the aid of their librarian (OOK!) in possibly obtaining more info about the Skull Clan themselves. After a forking over a significant sum of bananas, the Librarian agreed to do some digging through L-Space for the information I wanted. What I found was disturbing, to say the least. Skull VV Pose by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr It seems that the Skull Clan, or Coalition as they call themselves, were founded by a battalion of soldiers belonging to a human-supremacist group from a parallel earth called the Coalition States that blundered through a rift to our world. Somehow they had the dumb luck of coming out right next to the ruins of the Cheyenne Mountain Complex shortly after the Final War ended, and recognized it for what it was. After spending some time excavating the entrance, they gained entry to the complex, and apparently were able to gain access to a top-secret hangar where a Viper prototype was stored (in retrospect, the techs in charge of the hangar probably should have come up with a different security code than ↑↑↓↓←→←→BA[Enter])... Coalition Crew II by Hikaro Takayama, on Flickr In this photo, you can see the current leader, along with a grouping of "Dead Boy" troops, an elite Power Armor trooper as well as two Coalition Marines... They apparently have been spreading their influence out from Cheyenne Mountain and Colorado Springs and slaughtering every non-human and magic user they come across. Even more disturbing is mounting evidence that they have not only made contact with the Confederate States of America (probably during one of their forays into Compromised Missouri or Bleeding Kansas), but they have actually formed an alliance and are sharing technology and resources. I'm tasking you, Colloidal Snake with continuing your mission of monitoring and reporting on Coalition troop movements and actions. Farewell and good luck. -Dr. Bones, Chief Director Federal Intelligence Service. -End Transmission-
  23. I'm definitely loving these new alien bugs... I know all kinds of uses I can put them to in my setting!
  24. Ah yes, an oft-ignored, yet highly necessary part of LEGO City.... After all, you gotta get your septic tank pumped out every so often or else you'll be in a world or crap... LITERALLY. My neighbor actually owns a septic pumping service and his slogan is "A flush beats a full house." Well done MOC, and thanks for the laugh... You should submit this idea (well, at least the tractor and pump tank wagon part) to LEGO Cuusoo.
  25. Thanks guys once again... I'll soon have some additional pics of an improved version, along with the rest of the "Skull" clan (as well as more background info)... Thanks for the compliment... I just tend to be really harsh/self deprecating on my own work.... As for the main engine, I used the trans orange skid tile for the simple reason that I THOUGHT I didn't have any more trans neon green small radar dishes... The other day however, I managed to turn up another one, so I replaced that. As for the grills, again, I thought I didn't have any in black (I have a ton in dark bley and white, but not too many in black that aren't tied up in other MOCs), but I did scrounge up two. I was planning on posting the improved version today, but I got side-tracked with another Viper build that ended up taking all day.... ...Speaking of which, what is the general policy of posting MOCs that have a heavy clone brand component (this thing is aproximately 50% Kre-O, and is made from one of their Battleship sets)? Should I post it here or in Community?
