  1. Looking good, the color scheme is indeed eye catching!
  2. This is looking lovely! It just breathes technic from all sides with the suspension, gearbox and gears and axles running everywhere! I am a big fan of the outriggers there are just perfect for this scale / size!
  3. Thanks for the kind words! The gap between outriggers and wheels is indeed the bare minimum. I want to keep things as compact as possible so that the proportions are not too much out of balance, normally these vehicles have quite big wheels, but i need to keep in line with the rules Small update, i worked on a boom and figured out in what position to mount it. Next steps are the upper body work, cabin and as you can see ordering some parts in red!
  4. Maybe this could be of help, although the inventory is not yet 100% complete. Looking at the pictures i can count up to 4 of each already (2 in front, 1 in the door and 1 at the back of each) https://brickset.com/sets/42184-1
  5. This is becoming quite the machine, lovely to see it all work as intended! The string for the second boom part has a heavy job to do, aren't you afraid it will suffer too much?
  6. Great idea and some lovely progress! Seeing this i might as well you know throw the towel in the ring regarding TC27 I agree with the rest on the width, it might feel a little boxy as of now but well these kind of vehicles just are like that and by adding the more slim components like the ladder on top that effect will be reduced.
  7. Jurss had the right thought here, i wasn't at my final length yet I wanted the bodywork to end and begin with the outriggers which is a common thing on these kind of vehicles, i had some versions before i came to this solution. Initially i tried to mount the linear actuators with an H-frame, but i that case i would limit the movement way too much (you learn on the way right). This setup is basically the same idea but better executed and i am more than happy with the result. Afterwards i snatched the wheels from my 42144 and complete the bodywork around and next up now is the upper carriage and ofcourse the boom.
  8. Looks great and real clean! Love the fact that the machine has all the options for fieldwork and public road driving.
  9. Awesome build, as said by 1gor above already the shape is perfect and on top of that there are numbers great details! To be honest i am not a big fan of the color of the rims (although you are ofcourse bond by 3D printing materials in this case), they kinda take the focus (he he) away form the main body, something that would be less present with dark rims i think. But overall it is just a beauty and i am more than jealous on your skill, hats of!
  10. Well you could go to war with this thing am i right? Looks great so far! Would love to see it in action, just have to be patience for that one than. The suspension looks heavy, this car ain't for the normal paved road. Would love to see some of the mechanical inside as well if you like to share pictures while working on it!
  11. Interesting choice, it crossed my mind as well so i am gonna follow this build with interest. Curious how you will make the mechanism for handling the containers! The second boom part looks a little weakish from this perspective (our it could be just me ), i guess you will reinforce it more later on? The extent of the boom must be more than right now, it looks like it could pile 3 containers!
  12. Time to join in on the fun! When the competition was announced i was just about to take of on a 2 week holiday so i had more than enough time to think about what kind of vehicle i would go for. Funny enough i still went on with the first thing that came to my mind, well your first thought is usually the best one anyway right? So join me on my journey to make a telehandler for TC27! I decided to go for functions with knobs, no puzzling to fit in motors. I started with the chassis which i gave 4 wheel steering to improve the turning radius: However in this case the wheels would be quit far down in relation to the rest of bodywork, i wanted to increace the height of the wheels by one stud and came with an updated version: In this case the wheelbase is connected with just a blue pin axle to the steering part, so in theory it is not 100% fixed, but luckily there's not much room for movement. Anybody maybe have a better idea how to connect the wheelbase without changing the heights? The plan is to have HOG steering coming form the back and use the left and right knobs for rotating and outriggers. Next i am going to work on said outriggers and polishing up the bodywork of the undercarriage.
  13. I am terribly sorry, hope i don't get canceled for this one... Hadn't thought of that one, though the online shop where i mostly buy here in the netherlands does offer both versions of all cars.
  14. This is shaping up to become a real great entry, it's even better to know that it will actually work (as gbc) as well! I am following the progress with great interest! The colorscheme somewhat gives it a 42128 B-model vibe.
  15. With both the Lambo and bugatti the recolor option was released later than the "original", now they release both options at the same time. Is this like a new sale strategy, to let the customer choose which color he prefers? I kinda have mixed feelings about it, i get some of the reactions that are mentioned above (cheap way to get some nice panels in diffrent colors etc.) but on the other hand it feels like a real lazy way of creating a "new" set, it's just a recolor and the inside sadly stays a color mess. I have to say tho, that i prefer the white version to
  16. Such a great build, love the bodywork and front, it really has that "tough car" look that you expect from this kind of a vehicle! And on top of that free instructions, thank you very much! I gonna keep an eye on that rebrickable page and hopefully see some builds in different colors as well.
  17. Great build and nice performance! Although looks weren't the main goal it still looks very clean and technic like! I am kinda amazed that it uses the grey shock absorbers with this kind of weight. Don't you think adding a little gearing would improve the climbing capabilities even more? Not that they disappoint tho As Pow already said you are brave man going down those watery roads while testing!
  18. Thanks for the kind words guys! Well analysed private! Yeah it's a real shame, when the first leaks happend i was real excited about this set but seeing it now and reading about the downscaling they did to the truck and trailer that turned more into disappointment... although i will probberly buy it anyway for some of the parts and mod'ing fun. Yeah i can get behind that, moving them to the front and rear does feel more "natural" than going side to side in case of a boom, but i wanted to get as close to the orginal dimensions as possible and this way i won 2 studs. Yes you are 100% correct, the functions stop after the pneumatics, the HOG just pushes gentle from the side in this case
  19. Interesting to read and a nice video as well! The addons are nicely worked away, was the left over space in the fuel tanks on the sides not a good option for hiding the battery?
  20. Hello guys! Let me start with a little confession, before I recently signed up I was one of those “ghost” on Eurobricks. I have been surfing on the forms from time to time for several years now, being amazed by a dozen of MOC’s, reading reviews, following rumors about new sets and enjoying discussion and modification / improvements topics. So before I start, thanks everybody for the great and helpful content around here! But alright now about me, I am a 27 year old fellow living in the Netherlands, I played a lot with Lego when I was younger but never really got into technic at that time. I grew older and lost interest, but then at a sudden moment Lego came with the Volvo L350 (42030). I work in the civil engineering field and have always had, and still have , great interest in construction equipment. I bought the set and really enjoyed the build and playing around with the loader. A while later it was my birthday and my little brother gave me the mining dumptruck (42035) which really kicked of the technic addiction for me, now we are several years and a lot of sets further! From day one I dreamt of building my own great MOC’s inspired by some of the best you can find here on the forums. The wheeled volvo excavator (42053) is one of my favorite sets and at that time I decided to buy 2 so I could make a complete pneumatic excavator. I started with a boom section but never really got of to something bigger until a good 1,5 year back. I rediscovered the relaxing but also at times challenging process of building your own Lego technic creation and step by step finally completed my first moc, a volvo EC 250 El excavator. It was quit the journey with one total restart, a bunch of steps back but for now I am quit satisfied with the result. Although I do have some point of self criticism: - the battery box is not really easily accessible meaning you have to remove quit a bit to replace the battery’s when needed, also when rotating it can collide with the tracks; - the understructure is still a bit to weak for my taste, nothing breaks or is under to much stress but it sometimes feels and looks a bit wobbly.. But after seeing Lego’s go with the electric EC230 I have to say that I am quit proud of myself Anyway enough talking, time for some photos: The pneumatic functions are power by two small pups driven with a PF L-motor, there are three levers on the back of the machine for the main and second boom parts and of course the bucket. There is also a fourth lever hidden in the site (hence the double hoses) which I wanted to use for a griper or “tilter” for the bucket, those are just not yet there… Some more WIP pictures for the enthusiasts: You can check out the full gallery here. Hope you guys liked what you saw, i already got something new i am working on but well i am not a really fast builder...
