Perhaps instead of just locking threads you could delete them to free up server space and reduce the blockage - they'll just sink to the bottom of the list and sit there forever... SlyOwl

Indiana Jones Part 4 - Set Pictures are available
SlyOwl replied to Navy Trooper Fenson's topic in LEGO Licensed
Woohoohoo! I take it these are for Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull? It looks like a lot of vegetation this time round - perhaps too many little bits of scenery and not enough larger bits... The tank looks cool...up until those large blades :-X The camp site looks rather empty - low playability and few rare parts... They all look very preliminary... Does it look like a new Indy fig to you? Has anyone tried ordering these sets - when you click the link you can add them to your cart... Pirate King Skelly Killer SlyOwl -
CC any day. In my experience, you can't have 2 massive hobbies - just one, or they collide and destroy each other. Lego is a far more interesting hobby IMO and will never ever die; as soon as the TS (Nintendo Tri-Screen) comes out, all those who liked the DS will rubbish it and move on; no such thing happens with Lego - (a) It can't - TLC is declining IMO (b) New sets don't obsolete older ones... Don't kill me for hating all forms of games console... X-D Pirate King Skelly Killer SlyOwl

Hmm...I was under the impression "on" was just a typical nerdy expression - I've used it before, in actual speech, not *yoda* "Away put your weapon, I mean you no ham!" Pirate King Skelly Killer SlyOwl

Nice review! Hmm...I gave it a 4...Why? Very good bits: -3 epaulettes for 3 gurads! -Patterned wall parts -Cannon Bad bits: -No pirates to fight -Title is rather grand for an outpost -Top needs battlements, not very low lattices -Needs a more substantial base - the wall goes right into the sea! - Surely the whole thing would sink... -Palm tree is too short ...and the rest is good! :-P You might want to fix the vote option for 5 - it appears to be the title; you can't vote for it... Pirate King Skelly Killer Edit: OK, Boney, but I gave it a 4!

X-O I'd have thought they'd have run out of Crossbow attack instead because I'd think it's more popular, being a good army builder e.t.c... Pirate King Skelly Killer

Temporary measure - making the most of my gloating powers :-D Build off, build off!!! :-P Surprise me then: Sigfig(s) Congrats to the dark lord *vader* Pirate King Skelly Killer

As my avatar shows, a Redbeard torso, brown epaulettes, crown, new skeleton head, white hands and black legs. Hooks and peglegs vary according to person. And a parrot doesn't go amiss. But it was all a huge mistake - I changed to this avatar after I lost my Pirate King rank to Benk, and thus changed my avatar to a dead pirate king - and it got stuck like that... (Alternatively, stick a pirate hat on an owl, preferrably dark grey)

Too cheesy! :-D I'd have thought you could unpin this thread now... 8-| King

I suppose this is necessary for all those who haven't read the LOTR Appendices or the Silmarillion...I guess the troll is an Olog, like the ones in the storming of Gondor, as it's fighting the dwarves during the day... However, of the different species of Orc, the one most commonly called Goblin is the Misty Mountains/Moria orc - the puny little ones; the minifigs wield gurt big syooge ones, making me think they're Mordor orcs, not the Isengard orcs or Uruk-hai (they might be Uruks, however... 8-| ) Please, call him Morgoth - it's what most people will recognise - hence, "A balrog of Morgoth"...also in They're Taking The Hobbits To Isengard Awesome. :-P ;-) King

My pirate story: MY first few Lego sets were Town ones - originally a FreeStyle box and then some diggers and roofin and wheels e.t.c... there is, however, one set I own but have no recollection of recieving: Pirate's Plunder - I have no instructions or box; I stumbled across it in a catalogue a couple of years back (an old catalogue ;-) ) and knew instantly - my only seaweed at the time and my only Imperial. I suppose my Mum must have bought it for me; the first of 3 small sets - Pirate's Treasure Surprise and Shipwrecked Pirate followed later that year. By then my obsession with Pirates rivalled my love of Castle and I ogled over tiny pictures in catalogues and the mini-ads you used to get with sets and that I still have on my wall...Pirate's Chest came 2 years later and by then I was engrossed - Armada Sentry followed and then: :'-( NO PIRATES! For nearly a decade I waited until I picked up an Enchanted Island off eBay, shortly followed by my Barracuda; I was back on track after a long long exile. Those 3 great sets that set me off towards Pirate King:

It looks great...but a little solid - not enough space inside for my liking... Have you got any orange disks? You could use those as wheel hubs...black might work toooo King
-
Nice...very nice! One problem: the windscreen! Why is it a thick, low solid part? Couldn't a 1x2 clear panel or even 2 1x1 clear slopes sufficed? It seems a little pointless... :'-) King

I was rather stuck...King comes from Pirate King and BBQ from Kahuka's BBQ, the tie-breaker entry...unless anybody can think of a better one... Thanks King

After much deliberation I've chosen BBQ King as my title... 8-

COMPETITION! Design and build a household item from LEGO!
SlyOwl replied to Siegfried's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Gylman's mousetrap all the way - when I considered entering but couldn't think of anything to build, it was the sort of thing I wanted - functional, small and effective. However, can it do the job it's intended for - can it catch real mice? :-D -
Your powers are weak, Lord Vader. :-D When does voting end?

Building Challenge: MOC with only 100 pieces
SlyOwl replied to Hinckley's topic in General LEGO Discussion
100 pieces? Way too much! I had trouble fulfilling the 75 in the PH contest - I'd have preferred 50 by far! When I next get a spare day or two, I'll get cracking... (100 pieces is a lot of bricks!) SlyOwl -
I meant overall, not taking hull size into account; additionally, the narrower sails give it a longer, thinner look although it is the same width.

Surely a Pirate King's vote should count for more? :-D SES vs BSB? Hmm...I own the BSB (

That looks really intersting - have you ever thought of continuing the posting or this topic? SlyOwl *y*

That looks awesome! No, not the Lego, the lamp - I have the same one above my bed! :-D As for the Lego, it looks super-awesome! *y* *wub*

What makes Lego so addictive? 1. Chewing/sucking the tyres 2. A creative medium through which you can express emotion with little need for artistic expertise 3. Opening the crinkly packets 4. Something you can do anytime 5. Many people grew up with it and it grew up with them 6. Having a definitive hobby that can answer any question regarding free-time, if you have the courage to say "I play with Lego"; it may not seem that embarrassing to adults (I think :-D ) but to teenagers it's mortifying to be called a baby for having better things to do than wave a white stick around in front of a supersonic lightbulb to make a plumber attack a donkey (If you didn't get it, I was talking about the Wii *n* *shivers*)...I guess between 10 and 14 is when most Lego fans are lost...just a month left for me before I leave the danger zone...I must say, if it weren't for the internet, my Lego would've been far worse off - I might still be playing, but that eventfull day when I saw Micahberger's animals on BS gave me new light...but I'm warbling... :-| 7. A captivating and enveloping hobby/way of life that covers every aspect of interest: internet communities, paperwork, collectables, MISB stuff and creativity with but without rules... :-/ - How many stamp collectors do you see using their ancient stamps to send letters?
