Fabuland Guillotine and Odds & Ends (Uses for a Blue Bucket)
SlyOwl replied to SirNadroj's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Things are looking great! Could we have some gore to go with the guillotine? Me too! I just ask my parents what the difference is; especially between trans-yellow and trans-neon-green -
I dunno, but it's my only face with that degree of happiness; either they're ecastatic or normal; I wanted something a little stronger...
-
I was going to say that you lived in France, but then I realised that you're not ! And it's not murder; there's got to be a body for murder; this is cannibalism, which is also widely frowned upon Yes. It's coming your way.
-
I would recommend a tutorial on how to cut out photos and esit them onto backgrounds; however, as I do not use Photoshop (which I think most people do), I can't do it But I could do Jasc...
-
Overuse? Didn't you know that I hate studs? Seriously though, I find that studs often obscure details...

iSe debe ser "me"! iQue pena eres! Si, no hay accentos, pero no tengo ganas los buscar en mi ordenador

As of yet I have not recieved 5 applicants, so apply anyway, and if these so-called "better MOCers" don't apply, then it's their loss and your gain. Currently the next few people to apply will be guaranteed a place!
-
The categories remain hidden until the contest starts; that's the point - you've got to be able to build quickly and efficiently within set boundaries. Each category will last 1 month, although it may end early if everyone has entered. The next category starts when the previous one has ended, so overall this contest will last 3 months, although it will probably be considerably less You must be selected to participate, so links/addresses to your best MOCs or Brickshelf e.t.c. are necessary for selection. There will be an entry thread when the time comes, although I may change this; it won't really affect you either way... 3 months away? I'll bear it in mind, but I'll have exams around then, so July maybe? Yeesh, I'm planning soooooo far into the future And no, I can't enter, as I would already be tweaking the rules And yes, Captain is fine, although I prefer King Although I got dethroned

Putting a clear 1x1 round plate on top of the new flick missiles makes a good telescope, without having to go down a many-part route.
-
Hmm...no. The most I saw was an England fla at school... More beer. I used to
-
You get picked first, and told what to build afterwards; the BS links are simply required as a way to select people. How about one some time? Anyway, there's more entered now... Prizes...yes, prizes... As for older MOCs, as long as they haven't been publicly displayed before, then they're alright as technically they're new. However, previously displayed MOCs are not elegible as that defeats the point of MOCing contests.
-
Remember, MOCs can be entered into more than one competition... By New, it only means publicly displayed after the contest has started Rules updated This one isn't an official EB one, as it is not open to all members, so it does not need to be scheduled Not necessarily; if you just wait until the contest has started to display it, then it counts as a new MOC, as it has not been seen before. But WIP threads and previous teasers prevent this, as they verify that it was built outside the deadlines; otherwise we only have your word for it! Keep applying! I've only recieved 2 applications so far, so it looks rather dull

Hey all Welcome to the EB MOC Triathalon, where EB's finest MOCers will be pitted against each other in a gruelling test of MOCing skill, pace and endurance! But be warned! - Each MOC must be from a completely different theme! -Only submit yourself if you think that you will be able to produce 3 good MOCs from different themes within the set deadlines -Please include a link to your Brickshelf/Flickr/MOCpages e.t.c. for reference purposes, or links to your best MOCs -5 members will be selected from all applicants, with the objective of producing the finest MOCs across the board -Do not be offended if you are not picked; this competition is designed to bring out the best of the best, so only apply if you are serious and will not take it personally if not chosen -If you do not keep to the deadlines, you will be disqualified -To apply, PM me with your application and all appropriate links e.t.c; do not submit them in this thread, for clarity's sake -The Contest -There will be 3 categories, each consisting of a number of themes. You can only build one MOC from each category, even if the theme is different -Each category will be announced after the previous one has ended -Each category lasts for a month, although it will end early if all contestants have entered before then -You must enter each category -First category will be announced May 1st, with all included themes -You will be able to build from a theme of your choice, as it will fall under one of the categories, but you must be able to MOC in other themes too -The MOC -No custom parts/decals allowed -No part limit, although all entries must fit onto an area of 1500 square studs (a little larger than a 32x32 baseplate) -No digital entries -3 photos per entry, preferably 800x600 or less; composite photos are allowed -New MOCs only; no previously built ones are allowed -As voting will be by all members, build to what they want; a giant mech will get more votes in general than a Clikits necklace -You may not create seperate threads for your MOCs until after the category has finished, but post your 3 pictures and description in the entry thread that will be posted once the cateory has begun -No licensed theme MOCs or MOCs based off media, as these do not fully reflect the builder's skill and imagination, as the original concept is not their own -The Voting -Remember that although big doesn't always mean better, larger MOCs are more impressive and so more likely to attract more votes -Voting will last until the next phase begins --1st place -> 6 points --2nd place -> 4 points --3rd place -> 3 points --4th place -> 2 points --5th place -> 1 point -Overall highest score wins Do not apply in this thread; this is for discussion only! MOC ON!
-
Castle month ON! Although I've noticed a distinct lack of any older Castle themes, like Royal Knights and Fright Knights... Pirates are too special Correction: May: Pirates Month July: Imperial Month August: Islander Month I have your sigfig at last! Minus the face
-
Thanks Rocket? As for the lava, I did experiment with trans and normal red studs, but nothing seemed to work
-
Hey, Buddy, stop stealing my ideas! I'm building a plane for Charlie Crow, for my upcoming tree-house! I'll carry on anyway, just to have them go together Seriously though, great MOC, although I would have made it a little smaller, and less detailed; you don't need all those vents e.t.c. in Fabuland Now, I need to get a propellor that's not brown or black
-
You saying I won a bad contest?
-
The dwarf's and the troll's ideas of heavy metal were quite different...and neither was right...
-
The Exploriens raid the Spyrius mushroom greenhouses on the edge of the lava isle...

Sorry. OK, my suggestions: -Make the bley clips black for colour consistency; there's no other visible bley in the model -Don't use the spear; it looks too violent for Fabuland. The axe is just passable as it hasn't got a sharp point. -In the final picture the flower exhausts look like wheels, which is somewhat confusing. Use the chrome hooters here instead, to get a less jumbled top and more chrome on the undercarriage. -The black parts between the upper and lower parts look a little random; perhaps some specialised Fabuland part here instead? Or if you've got a third chrome exhaust, which could lead into the back of the bucket... -Instead of the black slopes on the front, perhaps use the teddy? I'm not sure what kind of connections it has on its back... -Could the handle bars be moved forwards so they rest just behind the books, and the goat's body hangs between the chrome parts?

I don't think that many people actually cut around their MOCs unless they're going to edit in a different background, as it takes a long time. I photograph mine in front of a large sheet of cardboard with paper stuck over it, outside. This means there is no glare from lamps on it, and there are no sharp shadows. If I can't do it outside (in winter mainly), I do it with all the desk lamps I can muster (normally just 3 ) on it. This isn't so good, but works fine for smaller MOCs, like vignettes. I then transfer my photos to the computer and increase the contrast on them using Paintshop. This means that the background becomes whiter, and the rest of the picture remains pretty much the same. However, because there are shadows where the paper I have stuck down joins, these show up more. I either smudge these out or paint over them. Then I touch up (lighten, sharpen, resize) and I'm done. Paper or laminated wood work better in general than sheets as they do not "absorb" the light like sheets do. Furthermore, they have no real texture, so give a smooth background.
-
I'm afraid I have to echo this; it doesn't look especially Fabulandish, in particular the black parts. Furthermore, I don't really get this whole cave-racer thing; are they like scaled-down pod-racers? That said, it's a great concept and could work well with a little tweaking Moko came up with the technique first, I think
-
Yay for cannibalism! Not any more. I did this mainly to see how well the ball joint worked as a pot and the sunken flames
-
Yup, I find them too expensive to buy! I won these ones, so it was okay Well sorry that I'm not a SW nerd! Change from Pirates eating Islanders...
