  1. The thing which holds the anchor out from the side of the ship Maybe miss out the middle section. I guess it depends on what sail you're going to have at the back. If it's a normal jib sail like on the SES, then I'd make it shorter, but otherwise probably not (I only really posted that because I was going to say that it was silly that the middle mast was shorter than the front mast, but then I saw the mast extension I didn't want to delete those 10 typed letters! ). Poop deck... forecastle... I'm not very clued-up on the parts of a ship. The raised thing at the back
  2. Did you mean a shirt for the turkey? One size fits all!
  3. These are actually all MOCs, except based on sets: mods. Jaudeau is a member here - he won the It's a Pirate's Life Contest back in May. I'm sure he appreciates you posting these though, as they're fantastic improvements (and individual MOCs)! It just goes to show how a few pieces here and there on an ordinary set can make it a great MOC!
  4. It should really be coming out the other end... I love that episode! Unfortunately I can't change mine, due to clothing restrictions. Hinckley, get a shirt with it NOW!
  5. It's long since dismantled. High MOCing commitments and a relatively small collection mean I can't have MOCs up for long after I've done photographing them At least it keeps me on my toes
  6. The Dead Captain, eh? Good start! It's nice to see the SES system in use in a MOC. The cat-head is cute The detail at the prow and the stern windows are great. What's really bugging me is that the rear mast is a bit tall compared to the others. I don't really like the red/grey stripe on the poop deck - it clashes rather. Perhaps remove the grey from the stripe, and leave it as red. It's also quite a solid looking wall. Could you put in some arches? Or some "ribs" like on the side of the ship? Tiles on their side with technic bricks and half pins would give less bulky ribs. I see you're planning to use one of those tubs as a crow's nest. You could put a standard "top mast" (bowsprit on BSB and SES) into it, thus continuing the mast upwards, without the overlap that you've got in the middle mast at the moment. It may be quite weak, but if you use one of the new-style tubs, you could put a bar through the top of one mast, through the axle hole, and into the bottom of the next mast. It may need a bit of experimentation, as I'm not sure how well it would work. In this picture, whilst I see it's the photo that's the problem, I really like the white/pearl-red combination
  7. Wowza! I'm guessing it's too expensive to put cheese on the hull, instead of 1x1 tiles? Are you using the Ultimate Cross Sections book, by any chance? Yup, it lowered the centre of gravity of the ship, so it could lean further without capsizing. It was mainly used when the hull was empty, as there was no weight from cargo. It did cause problems though, as it provided a home for rats, and bilge water could collect in it, causing disease.
  8. Ah yes, my bad I forgot it wasn't a symmetrical shape. I was thinking of something like this, but I guess it won't work out You may be able to use a layer of cheese next to the the baseplate at each end to "rationalise" it, and then do what you will with general slopes in the middle section. Or you could adjust the height of the back parts using cheese/wedges/tiles on those rear corner square holes, overlapping onto the 1x2 gap behind. The same goes for the two rear corner ones on the raised bit.
  9. This is a superb MOC! A fine idea, well executed (I always have trouble making sea monsters). The monster is great - I love all the green mixed with bley mixed with white horns. The curvitude round the front of the mouth is very impressive. I can only say that as a whole MOC there's a little to be desired. The monster just seems to "stop" at the back. I'm guessing it's some sort of giant fish, so I'd have like to have seen its body be sinking into the water. Consequently, this means the water is mainly in the wrong place. I'm not really a big fan of Aaron's excessive use of water - this MOC could have looked very nice with a circular base, but currently the mass of water in the foreground is a bit distracting...
  10. It makes it easier to do smooth yet curved sand, which is a plus. However, I would have preferred to have seen a system using bricks that allows this, to give variation; I'm guessing that after a while, most of the possibilities of this may well be exhausted. I would like to see (not necessarily in a full MOC), 4 of these put together, to form a "floating island". 2 on top, 2 on the bottom, to give a big sandy lump, that would be most interesting to see
  11. Hello! I know you! Welcome t' Belgium They look after the forums, re-titling threads, adding polls and such. They also manage the various indexes and intervene when member behaviour isn't what it should be... Phew! At least you didn't paint it with a fork this time!
  12. In central London? You may find an Argos or a toystore if you're lucky, but I wouldn't count on finding much beyond the most basic City and Bionicle stuff anywhere else. You're more likely to get the aforementioned stores in smaller city and town centres. London's centre is just too big for the smaller retailers, and the more "suburban" ones (supermarkets, shoe shops, Argos, Ikea e.t.c.). Steer well clear of Hamleys and Harrods. They nearly double the price of some things! I'm not sure that Harrods actually sells Lego - just posh pet food and self-playing pianos...
  13. A return of Fabuland, eh? Nope! They've removed the Fabuland logo from the bottom of the cauldron part - there's even a messy lump where it used to be... Once I've finished my next 3 projects, I've got some Fabuland in line I've already got the idea, and some of the parts built, but my collection is too limited to allow me more than 1.25 MOCs at a time I'm assuming you did get it off, judging by your Thug Dog? I like how you're blending the themes - and the decals/stickers look great! I can only say that the crafts themselves look rather small and underdeveloped in comparison to Fabuland scale. They could also do with a little "smoothing off", to retain the aesthetic. But blending classic space and Fabuland is one hell of a job! I'm sure Impy will add them to the index some time soon... or else
  14. Good job It reminds me of that Lynx advert
  15. I like what you're doing here River Guards is a neat idea - I'd like to see more of these around, specifically in an enclosed/limited water body, as opposed to the open ocean. The Pirate Watchpost is a bit boring, but it would work incorporated into a larger scenario. That torso works very well in black. The River Outpost has a neat beacon/lighthouse, and I like the pistol holders. Have you used pauldrons on the other side, or just another neck bracket? The water pump is great! And the Secret Cave Island would be a really good set! Add a few cheesy gimmicks, some cheese slopes and a wrecked ship and voila! I love the colour scheme of the Kogge, although it could perhaps do with a few more accents in another colour (dark grey, bley, black), to break up the brown further. I don't quite get the Kamper Kogge - is it the same one, but stripped down? (I think you need to rename the pages, though Castle project (huge)
  16. I'll have to go with Brickbeard, as his torso and head are more useful than the other two. His hook, however... I prefer dark grey, then light grey, but that pearl gold is a bit icky (same with the epaulettes). However, as I prefer Ironhook to Redbeard, I'd like to see a modern guerilla captain (not just a castaway pirate), with a similar torso, just updated. Yeah, I always thought that too, beard aside. Regarding Ironhook, he came out in various guises; pegleg, blue epaulettes... he likes to dress up
  17. I'm more worried about people stealing my Lego than my money Really. When I was 12 and our house was burgled, I immediatly checked to see that my RCX was where I left it. It was. My moneybox wasn't, but the RCX alone was worth more than my worldly savings Partly as I'd spent them all on the RIS 2.0. Nowadays we have a burglar alarm
  18. You certainly are lucky! Judging by the photos (and my own BSB and SES), the SES looks the longest and tallest, followed by the BSB, and then the BB - ? However, I must say that the part selection and colour scheme of the BB are much more pleasing, despite the garish sails. It also looks to have avoided the crinkling in the front sail which comes as a result of the jib-to-stern string, although it isn't printed on both sides, unlike the other two. I must say, that the BB is much cheaper than the other two, although it looks like it competes quite well in design terms (except the spars, crane and cannons), so it is rather tempting Thanks, Teddy
  19. Looks great I really like the desolate atmosphere. The soldier is nice (although it's a shame about the rip on the torso, as he hasn't actually fought yet ) -it's a good way of getting Bluecoats without TLC making any! The birds and tree are beautiful, especially the use of Indy whips. I'd have liked to see a few more branches to give it some width. That's an interesting technique you've got going with the thatch, and I'd like to see it on a larger scale I can only suggest that the door should be recessed, not sticking out, but hey, it's only a small thing

  24. Hehe You already knew what I looked like But event? Some day! I think so - my mum sent it off to some company to do. It wasn't, but I'm back as Regulator now!
  25. All I'm getting at the moment is this message - It actually happened when I was on the site, and I got the same message on every page. Site taken down already? Temporary fault? There was a spelling error in one of the fun facts (everrbody) It looked very promising nonetheless. I would like to see some pirates and imperials fighting it out at the bottom of the page, like they have on the Castle site. Anyway, before that I flooded the MOC gallery with my best stuff
