The Baritones Discussion Thread
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm going to ignore that comment. Note to self: I need to remember to kill three people (including IS) in the first day of MCII... There there, it's OK, everything will be fine... oh how I wish I could believe that. We will both avenge you, my dear sister. Rest in peace, knowing that we will find the ones that did this to you! -
The Baritones Day 2-A Town Terrorized
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Darlene hears shouting down the street and runs to see what the commotion is. Ivan? Is that you? What the hell is going on here, it's like- Darlene notices Florence lying dead in Ivan's arms. Florence! No, please no, this cannot be! Ivan, what has happened here? Is she, is she... Darlene drops to the ground sobbing. Not my sister, my dear Florence. This is too much! My poor baby sister, dead, and I'm too late to even say goodbye. Why!? Why do you do this to me, dear Lord? She was just harmless woman, my only sister! And I wasn't here to protect her! I was too late. Darlene rallies and manages to stand. Come Ivan, we must grieve for her together. It will do us no good standing out here. We shall avenge her. I promise you now, that we will find this killer, no matter how long it takes! and together, bring him, or her, to justice. This I swear. I was coming to visit you know. It has been a while, but this... I didn't expect this at all. Ivan, you must tell me everything. I know it is hard, but we must be strong. Tjose bastards will pay for wat they have done. Damn I need a whiskey, and a strong one at that! I'll go find a cloth for... for her. She needs something decent to cover her, God damn it! My sister. Dear Lord, this is a tragic day indeed. It's... It's just so hard... to comprehend. -

What!? Who said that! Oh right. As I recall, I had a completely legitimate excuse for every occasion that this particular event occurred. Perhaps you'd like to discuss this in further depth with my lawyer? Her name's Darlene... -
Now, as this particular episode doesn't involve me, I think I'll share my thoughts as a viewer rather than as a biased warlord. First of all, the builds look great Batbrick. They may not be big, but they are certainly cool, and look the part. I love the big wheels and streams of fire. A very cool design I must say. Now, for the voting. I'm in two minds about this, on the one hand, it is a bit of a coincidence that this person has turned up and happens to be wearing Sondra's suit, but then, she is extremely vicious. That said, it has been two years since you last saw her, so perhaps she has changed, for better... or worse. I think that it is unlikely there is any chance of escape, so take your chances I say. It pains me to say it, but if these people are attacking Lord Dragonator's prison (blasphemy in itself!), then they are most likely going to be friends of yours. Next, take the food and canteen, in this world, food is a very important factor. Lastly, take Sheckles along, he may be mad, but he's been with you for two years, and it might be interesting to find out why Lord Dragonator had him imprisoned. Well, this response is a bit shorter than usual, but I think I've covered everything. Well done, and I'm looking forward to the next episode. One thing I;d really like to see is some of your brick-built creatures, they were awesome, and I'm missing them... Other than that, keep it up!

The Baritones Day 2-A Town Terrorized
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
By the God's what's going on here? I had a hard enough time on the plane, yet alone getting a taxi from the airport! Talk about service! That air-host was terrible, first he spilt the coffee all over me, and then it was the bowl of sweets. It's not like there was any turbulence or anything. I still haven't figured out how he managed to trip backwards into my lap. A bit weird if you ask me. Anyway, where is everyone? Normally at this time of morning, there's people everywhere. No buses, and no taxi. That was one long walk I tell you! But who am I telling? There's nobody here! By God I want some answers, I'm not used to being treated this way! The court of law is no place for idling. Right, well I need to find my dear baby sister, she can tell me what's going on while Ivan's cooking breakfast. I knew from the first that she'd made a good pick, Russian chef's cook great food! Normally they would be open by now... Darlene wanders off to find her beloved sister, unaware of what was wrong with her home town of Moonlight... -

You know I'm still not entirely sure how that happened... I think I should add that to my list of things for MCII, don't invite Staudie! Oh now that is funny! I never knew how much fun it would be to sit here and watch you pestering people for night actions. Hilarious! I hope you have a little more success about it then I did, at least you have a large hammer to act as an incentive. What's that Lady Dolores, you said something? Ah ha.... -
Well, put me down for the raffle, I don't see any reason why not to.

Mystery Castle - Behind the Scenes
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks everyone for your comments, they are greatly appreciated. Actually, that is a milky-white tree. I do have a white one though. There are a few other weird parts in there, all the sort of stuff that shows up in TV storage rooms. -
Mystery Castle - The Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
If you mean how I assigned characters to people, then this was done randomly. Well, mostly randomly. As for which characters were traitors, this was pretty much story driven. Lord Ash wanted the throne, and his wife was in it with him as they were both scheming people. Rotrigous was unhappy with doing all the work and getting no recognition, and mainly wanted to strike back at the king. He did this in league with Lord Ash, with the intentions of later betraying him and seizing power himself (which he almost did). Lieutenant Byron was a young soldier with dreams of glory, which he did not feel he would be able to achieve under the current ruler. He wanted a promotion, and so hence risked being a traitor to achieve this. Mary was a young maid who was vulnerable and easily manipulated. She was often abused by the guards, and became a traitor after Lord Ash promised her his protection. General Marcus was a once-proud and loyal subject of the king, who had ideas for the advancement of the kingdom. The king would not listen to him, and so he became a traitor. Lastly, Calvin was a hired mercenary on the side of the traitors only because they paid well. Hope that answers your questions. -

Ugh, what is that thing!? ... Oh, right. Um, it looks very... nice. Um. Yeah. That was real smooth kid, real smooth. Didn't I tell you to leave already? That was in another thread. Ah ha. Seriously though (an I ever serious?), congratulations Shadows, you certainly deserve your ugly mug up on the wall of fame. Nice fork patterns. -

Damn, I missed out. This sucks. And it looks like it's going to be an awesome game too! I don't suppose you could fit one small little dragon in somewhere? Nah, I'll take it on the head. It serves me right for not signing up to the other one immediately I suppose, despite prattling on about how I wanted to take part in the next game that happened... Good luck everyone, and if you can't be bothered playing, give me a call! I'll just go cry over in that corner in the mean time... EDIT: Oh, and now that I've read it, I must say that Day 1 seems to have started with a bang! To bad I can't start giving my opinions, not being a player, but I've already formulated a few ideas, just from reading what's happened so far. Nice work on the starter post Hinckley, it was almost OK. He actually loved it, and thought the pictures were awesome, but he's not going to say that to your face. Shut it Majiko, I thought I'd got rid of you. Go away, you smell funny. After what you put me through these last two weeks in that dingy castle, I'm not surprised... -

That's cool Hinck, no offence taken. I had actually been going to sign up for the other one, but I thought that it looked a bit disorganised and so thought someone else might run another one instead. Little did I know that you would instead take over the other game! Silly me. Ah well, hopefully I'll still be able to wiggle my way in eventually. You can't get rid of me this easily! I'll definitely read all the threads, although I'm gutted that I can't take part. Anyway, good luck everyone, and I hope you all enjoy yourselves! -

Hey, your not running a mafia game without me. If there's still space, count me in as a definite! Please? I'm begging here! EDIT: Just out of interest, how the hell did I miss this? Was there some secret thread going on somewhere that I couldn't find? Or is someone purposefully trying to exclude me... -
Mystery Castle - The Conclusion

As long as you keep that eager smile and slim figure, you'll always be a winner in my book. That's cool, I perfectly understand. Have me down for when you do start in though. -
Mystery Castle - The Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
That's a good idea, I might consider that for next time. -
Ah, to true. It's almost impossible to get all the larger sets, and the few that do make it here don't arrive until around 18 months after they were released in the rest of the world. Still, if you know the right people, you can get most of the sets. For example, I know a guy who exclusively stocked a couple of the Eiffel Towers and sets like that. He's going to try and get me a Taj Mahal too. I still haven't been able to source a market street though, and S@H shipping is just so expensive...

Interesting, I pre-ordered mine for only $40 through the NZ Lego Club...

Mystery Castle - The Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Thanks for your kind words TinyPiesRUs. I'm glad you approved of it, being an experienced host and all. All good questions, one and all. 1) You are right with the bit about General Marcus. Wherever the Greek armour turned up, he was somehow involved. Then later on in the game I'd thought I'd try and confuse you all some more by adding other types of armour. 2) Actually, Calvin did recognise Ritz. He found out not only that Ritz was a traitor, but that he was a threat to his master. It's a mystery to me as to why he didn't share that, but instead tried to get Marcus. I think he panicked a bit, and that led to his downfall. Funnily enough, I was going to write a summary of what happened each day, followed by what happened each night. I only ever finished day 1, still, I'll see if I can try and finish it. I'll try and do the night actions at least, I've got them recorded somewhere... 3) An excellent question. The red spear symbolised a bad streak in the military, someone responsible for the king's death (backed up by the crown and skull on it's tip). The carrot was hinting at how the king had been poisoned, by something in the food, which would point to someone with access to herbs. The spilled goblet was a pointer to someone powerful involved (Rotrigous, and also Lord Ash, but he was already dead). There was also a hint that had recently bought some BrickForge items. I would tell you, but then if the game started up again I'd probably be at a disadvantage. I'm not sure I can remember still anyway... Now that does sound interesting. If you've got it all planned out and ready, I think you should go ahead with it, especially since you already put dibs on the next game over a month ago if I recall. Well, it's not up to me, but I'd love you to go through with it. Why don't you talk to one of the admins about it, that's what I did when I was going to launch MC. -
Now that is a tricky one. Is it perhaps that her sister is a cross-dresser and was the guy she fell in love with? The pair hadn't seen each other in many years, and so this was why the woman didn't recognise her sister. Also, she wasn't expecting her sister to be dressed as a man. Then the woman murdered her sister because she was heart broken on discovering her dream man was in fact her cross-dressing sister. That sounds really silly, but then, I think it sounds likely.

Ladies and Gentlemen, today I would like to welcome you to a special episode of Mystery Castle, where we will look back at all the many scenes you came to both love and hate. I thought some of you might be interested in seeing the scenes as they were when built. These are much like sound stages, and so are very rough around the edges, especially since I had to build some of them in a matter of hours. I know that next season I'll definitely be preparing the scenery in advance! Anyway, let's have a look shall we... The Dead King This was the small vignette that opened the game way back in day 1. I would have liked to have built the whole bedroom, but time was the problem. Anyway, this offered some hints into how exactly the king died. Two things to be noted are that the King's skull head was metaphorical not literal, and the chicken leg is supposedly a fish. Not quite sure what Calvin thought he caught there... The Courtyard Day 2 saw the death of Lord Martin, and he was hung out in the castle courtyard. We see here the twin Dragon statues that are a feature in a lot of Dragon Masters Kingdom architecture, as well as some of the nice castle gardens. I had to use a lot of larger castle pieces for this one, mainly again because of time. Man I hate that thing! Anyway, I thought this one turned out all right. The Kitchen Courtyard This particular spot saw a fair bit of action. At the beginning of Day 3, it was here that young Daniel was crushed by a potato cart, and the Friar was brutally attacked. Then, in day 4, Mike was brutally attacked here. The Corridor This corridor is very rough around the edges indeed, but it served it's purpose. At the beginning of day 5, it was here that Grim was murdered, and one of the alcoves served as the execution chamber in day 6. Another corridor Actually, it's the same corridor, just altered a bit. Unfortunately I didn't have my 'studio' set up when I took this... The Rooftop This little vignette saw Damien's leap of faith, which unfortunately didn't do him much good. The friar did make some hilarious comments on it however. This was back in day 8. I was away for days 9 and 10, so no new scenes were created... The Grand Hall I don't seem to have taken an overview shot of this one, so the caption challenge picture will have to do. This scene saw the introduction of Staudie to the game in Day 11, as well as Dragonator's ranting during day 12. Also, an invasion of ants. The Store Room And finally, the store room, where Dragonator and Staudie hid from the angry mob in Day 13. You may recognise the floor as being from the corridor scene. Yeah, cheap Hollywood approach, I know. Well, there you have it folks! Those were the scenes of Mystery Castle. They were all a bit rough, but then they served their purposes. I know for certain however that next time round I'll pre-build some much bigger and grander scenes, spending much more time on them. I do feel that they worked well enough for this, my first game, anyway. I can only get better from here, I guess. I hope you found this insightful, and please, feel free to leave comments.
