The Baritones-the Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hey, I thought you were on my side? Thanks for a great game Shadows, and everyone else too, it was loads of fun. You know, that was the first complete Mafia game I've played in, if you don't count the Roman Mafia which wasn't ever finished. I enjoyed it a lot. And yes Hinck, seriously, I think you did a great job too. Darlene shall live on! -
The Baritones-the Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I would... but your dead... and that would be just like... eew... gross... Besides, I've already got my lovely FBI agent. Who I cannot believe didn't do anything about the Baritones because he didn't ring his boss... Sorry I killed your case study. Girls with Guns ON! EDIT: Wait a minute! I just noticed something. Is my hair trying to eat my face when I'm kicking Carter? That brings back memories. -

You know, I didn't think I was to cruel. I mean, I only bashed in his head. Ah. Um, anyway... Do you like my hair? -

The Baritones-the Conclusion
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Oh my God! That was hilarious! Awesome ending Hinck, even if you did screw it up the first time. It's even better with dialogue, for some strange reason. I love how nobody had any bullets left, that was funny. So was the munched up construction worker. And me kicking Carter's head into the pavement. As we all know, it is always left to the woman to take care of the big bad bastard baritone guy. Don't mess with a lawyer old man! Wow that was awesome. I have to say that I have a lot of work to do to match that! Do another one, please oh please oh please? Oh right. Not till next year. Oh and another thing... Carter, your a bastard! I take it your going to eventually reveal everyone's roles and what their night actions were? I would love to have a look at what each person did each night. I've pieced together most of it, I think, but it would be nice to have an official overview. Say, I remember someone asking me for one of those a while ago... I'm really looking forward to Baritones 2, and it better have more twists, more weird characters, the return of the cross-dressing construction man, more gore, and more everything! Well, I don't know, more of something anyway. Now, for my final verdict. Yeah, I guess you did a pretty good job. -
I think they're just random paddles with a purpose that should be left to the imagination. Although I think police signs would be the most likely use for such things, as zorro3999 said: crashes, do not pass this point signs, and of course, traffic control! Yeah something like that...

The Baritones Discussion Thread
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Am I imagining things, or did someone just delete my post in the other thread? Anyway, it's time to reveal all. Who wants to go first? EDIT: Am I just imagining things, or did the other thread just disappear entirely? You're really starting to confuse me Hinck. -
EB Community Castle Build: Discussion Thread
Dragonator replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I'll add my name to the list, it'll be a nice little challenge, if I can ever bring myself to pull apart my almost complete castle MOC. Although if it's not starting for a while, then that'll give me a chance to do a few bricklink orders. Oh, and metalandi, I think you've got the top two bricks around the wrong way... EDIT: Yeah, KimT bet me to it. -
Right, I bought my ticket. I hope have better luck this time! Man I red helmets.
-
Don't worry, I'll take plenty of pictures for you. It won't be anywhere as near as exciting as BrickWorld etc, but hey, at least it's something right?
-
Now that would be awesome if you flew all the way here just to come to this. I can ask one of my dragon friends to give you a ride if you like. No, I won't be bringing the tavern along, as I unfortunately had to destroy it to build my most recent creation, Lord Dragonator's new Château/castle/whatever it is. It doesn't have a name yet, but it will do soon. I'll take pictures and put it up here of course, and you can all tell me what you think. It is the largest creation I have ever made, and only my second serious MOC, but I think it's turned out OK, and I would appreciate the comments and criticism. I tell you, it has been pretty hard work! I've been working on it for just over a month, and I must say the hardest part is that I keep running out of pieces! Anyway, more on that when I finish the roof and take pictures. I'm looking forward to you coming!
-
Great! I look forward to seeing you there, and if you don't manage to build anything, you should come along anyway, there's some great stuff to see. NZ Events ON!

Hey everyone, My local club, if you can call us that, is holding our annual Lego show and building contest this weekend. The details are as follows. Where: Coastlands Shoppingtown, next to McDonalds. Kapiti Coast (north of Wellington) New Zealand Kapiti is around a 40 minute drive north of Wellington. The shopping complex is hard to miss, it is right on the main road. What is this? It is a show, nothing like the size of BrickCon, but still a fairly large one (the largest in NZ at least). The show is also a competition, in which people bring in their models and display them to win fabulous prizes, kindly donated by The Lego Group and Toyworld (yeah, I had to say that bit). Entry is free. If you have a model, and you want to bring it along, feel free! There are prizes to be won, I remember last year's first prize was a $100 set. So, if you have something made, or if you can throw something together quickly, bring it along! Registration is being held from 10am till 5.30pm on Friday, and the show is open to the public on Saturday the 11th of October from 9am till 5.30pm, and on Sunday from 10am till 4pm. The prize giving will be held at 3pm on Sunday. So, if you don't want to compete, you should come along for a look as well, I'll be there both days, so it'll be a nice chance to meet some of you who live locally. We have models coming from as far as Whanganui, and hopefully we'll have the Taj Mahal, Death Star play set and Giant Castle Chess set on display. That is not confirmed yet, but hey, we'll try our best. Oh, and the Eiffel Tower too. This may not sound exciting to you people in Europe, but for us in little old NZ, we can't buy these sets in store or anything, so it's a good chance to get a look at them. As well as that, there will be 23 tables (hopefully) filled with Lego models, including a large Hoth diorama for those Star Wars fans, and my own Lego Château, if I ever find enough roof tiles to finish the damn thing. I need a black dragon head as well. I cannot believe I only own three! Right, what else do you want to know? Oh yes, the competition is split into four age groups, they are: 5-8yrs 9-12yrs 13-18yrs Adults So, there's fun for people of all age groups! Except under 5s, sorry guys and girls... As well as prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, there is also a peoples choice award. So come on in and vote for your favourite model! Just make sure it's my castle. In case your interested, here is a link to the promotional poster. I hope it works. Right, that's about everything, if you have any questions, then please feel free to ask. Other than that, I expect to see all 4000 of our members there on Friday registering models, or on Saturday and Sunday voting for my castle. Well, it would be nice if a couple of you could make it. See you there! Oh, and I don't suppose some kindly staff member might possibly be able to front page this? That way we might get more than 2 people to turn up. -ator

Dear lord your all suck ups. Go Hinck go!! We're rooting for you! Take down that Walrus in as gory a way possible! :pir-skull: We love you Hinck! And don't let the Tiber get in your way! What's a Tiber? You've been reading to many comic books. Nice competition, I can't wait to see the entries. Perhaps I'll do some staff pillaging of my own in my entry... You better watch out Shadows. That's if I ever get around to making an entry, I've got a pile of bricks tied up in another MOC at the moment. Which I'll hopefully have up in the castle section by Friday. How's that for self-promotion? By sound of that first rule, I take it you won't be making something out of Lego Ice-Cubes...

Article: The Bargain Hunter's Guide to LEGO
Dragonator replied to Eilif's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the great article Eilif, it is very useful. Unfortunately in NZ, most people are selling their Lego on TradeMe as they know they can get good money on there for it. e just don't have that many garage sales any more. Still, I think I might try some of your tips next time I'm out and about. I need to see if can find any of these resale shops you speak of. -
KimT, this is looking great! The grey flooring really does something for this, and the corner towers look much better with the flatter black roof. It looked a bit weird with such a sloping yellow one. The use of inverted slope pieces along the walls is good too. Is it just me, or do the doorways in the corner towers seem a bit low? Teddy has a good point about the merlons, or whatever those wall pieces are called. That said, it does look quite nice with the walls on both sides. But then, it wouldn't be very useful during an invasion. Other than that, I think the walls are looking fine, no more improvements that I can think of. The stables look really nice too, although I wonder whether they should be a little taller on the ground floor? That horse looks like it's going to get a sore neck bending down like that all the time. I think it would look nice with some sort of arch over the stable door, but then, that would probably effect the floor height inside, wouldn't it? Perhaps you could try building up the floor a couple of plates like in the corner towers? These are just suggestions, I don't know whether they would look better or not, but you might want to try it out and see what it looks like. One last thing, shouldn't you have brick-built horses, to be correct to the classic style? Just kidding. Keep it up, it's looking great! Oh wait, this is the last question, really it is. Are you going to build some sort of citadel or castle in the middle? I'm curious to know how far your planning on taking this...

The Baritones Day 8-Ding Dong, Dillon is Dead
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Hey, we're not ending this without me getting a word in. From the evidence, it is clear that the tool is Carter. But who then is the Baritone? It must, unfortunately, be either Steve or Sky. So, my question is, should we really be taking out the tool, or should we be looking for the real Baritone? I want to know which one of you it is. Because it must be one of the two of you. We'll find you out tomorrow anyway, as you obviously can't kill me no matter how hard you try, and if you kill the other citizen other than me and Ivan then we'll get you. The game is up mate, you just need to accept it and let us know who you are. -
The Baritones Discussion Thread
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Now that would be awesome. It's OK Mary, um, I mean Zepher, we all need to get in touch with our feminine sides. What do you think I've been doing the last few weeks, aye? I think Hinck was giving me some payback, but he doesn't know what I've got in store for him in Mystery Castle 2 now, does he? Then again, Darlene is a bit of a stunner, isn't she? That sounds pretty cool, although I don't really understand how it would work. I'm sure all will be made clear when your game starts though. You know, I went and looked at a couple of other Mafia game sites, and I have to say that the ones we hold on EB are much better quality. Some of those other sites just have people swearing and randomly voting and killing people for pages on end. Come to think of it, that's not to different to what we do... Nah, but seriously, I'm very happy with how our little EB Mafia community is, it seems far better than some of the Mafia game sites I took a look at. So there's something for you all. -
New BrickArms Prototypes
Dragonator replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Man these look awesome. I love the paint-ball gun, that is pretty funny. And the explosives look useful. I'm going to have to get a fair amount of this stuff. The longsword looks good too, it's nice to see a number of variations of the sword from different companies, it gives me more to chose from. Keep 'em coming guys. -
BrickArms Pirate Accessory Prototypes
Dragonator replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Pirate MOCs
Wow, awesome work guys! Those look great! Your going to make me bankrupt with all this good stuff. I'll definitely get a few when they come available. That U-clip is pretty damn cool, I'm sure it will be really useful for all sorts of things. It's nice to see your branching out into bladed weapons now too. -
EB News Reviews: 7979 Castle Advent Calender 2008
Dragonator replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I missed this, being away and all, so I better comment on it now. This is a great review guys, and I really like this unique new style of doing them. It was fun to read, with some excellent humour, and still showed the set off and allowed us to get a good look at it. One thing that I think might be helpful would be to somehow incorporate the opinion part of a review, as in, which bits you find appealing and which bits you don't, but try and include it in the story. That would be cool, as it would tell us all what you think of the set, as well as providing more opportunities for jokes and terrible puns etc. Just a suggestion, I thought it might be worth mentioning. Anyway, fantastic work to all of you; nice job on the photography WhiteFang, and to Shadows for some of those jokes. I was laughing a few times, and that's always a good sign. Oh, and good on ya Staudie for, um, er, being the glue that holds everything together. Keep it up guys, I'm looking forward to the next one. But where are the interviews? The news waits for no man, but this man is waiting for the news. -
The Baritones Day 7-Grave Mistakes
Dragonator replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
So... what should we do now? Anyone want to play pool? Do we even have a pool table? I really don't know, but what I do know, is that if we sit here to much longer I'm going to fall asleep... ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz..... -
Hi ISC, So you've made your escape from Moonlight to this little island have you? Let's take a little look then shall we? This is a really nice vignette, and I think you've done a great job with it. I appreciate how hard it is to do landscaping, as I have a lot of trouble with it myself, and it is even harder to do something good in such a small space. I think you've pulled off the slope of a beach really well, there aren't any weird bumps that don't fit, so all good there. Yes, I must say you've handled the landscaping nicely. As a couple of others have mentioned, the transition between the land and sea is a little abrupt, but that is hard to avoid in such a small model. It is to bad you don't have any light blue plates, as I think that would have given the sea a bit more texture. The sea still looks fine without them though, and the breaking waves make up for a lack of varying colour. That technique you have used for the incoming waves is awesome! Very inventive use of parts, and they fit in well and give a nice effect. Also to do with landscaping, I really like the curve of the trees; that adds a certain something to the overall model, and contrasts with the ridges of the sand. Very nice. The use of loose plates for dug up sand is cool as well. Now on to the minfigs. You've got the faces just right I feel; that terrified face on the man sure is a useful one! There is one improvement I think could be made on this, and that is the placement of the bearded man. He seems far to lifeless for a bloodthirsty pirate. Try putting him in some sort of pose, for example, digging up the sand or heaving it over on top of the buried soldier. As it is, it does look fine, but a little more life would do him some good. He looks a little dull just standing there with a shovel, if you get what I mean. As for the woman, I think she is positioned perfectly. It looks like she is straining against her bonds, desperately trying to pull free and save her dear soldier. That or run away. That's the feeling I get, and all of that is just from a little bend in the knees! So as you can see, even a little bit of movement is very effective. I also find it amusing how she seems to be leaning away from the ant that she is apparently staring at in horror, not aware that there is another one coming at her on the other side. That is really cool. Well that's about all I have to say, I hope you find something helpful in there. You've done a terrific job, and should be very pleased with yourself.

CONTEST - Pillage the Village - Creative Critic Award
Dragonator replied to Mister Phes's topic in Pirate MOCs
I'll give this a go Phes, it sounds fun, and I like commenting on people's creations anyway. Nice photo at the start there by the way, although next time I would suggest... oh wait, it hasn't started yet. Creative Critic ON! -
I've just got back from my trip to Australia, and althoug I didn't find my beloved Castle Chess Set anywhere, I did buy a couple of other sets. First, I bought the Republic Gunship because it was on sale and was cheaper than I could get in NZ, even with the exchange rate and all. Then I later bought the 4995 Creator Helicopter set, mainly because I needed the three 2x2 light bley plates inside it for my castle MOC (which will be finished in the next few days). I do like the set as well of course. Lastly, I bought a Good Wizard set (5614), because I haven't seen it in NZ for months and I wanted another. Also, before I left, I won the 6267 Lagoon Lock-Up (from 1991) on eBay, complet with instructions and box. I just hope the pieces are all in good condition. Next on ly list are Town Plan and Green Grocer, I just need to raise enough money first!
