  1. Sorry for my late comment Batty, I've been a bit busy. WOW! Had to get that out. This is outstanding my fine flying friend, indeed I see in it a furthering of your MOCing talent. It has an excellent, well planned design, and just looks the part. Starting at the front, I like the way you've done the lettering, it looks really good and gives a nice 3D effect. The front in general is well structured and has the perfect look of a private club. I also like the small window in the centre, anyone could be watching... The crenelations (is that the right word) on the roof look awesome, and give the building a very grand and dignified appearance. At least I think so anyway. The two rooms on the sides offer some nice details such as those shiny silver cups ( ) and the interesting chair. Very cool. (get it, cool, because he's a penguin! Yeah that's pretty lame... ) The interior is just gorgeous! Seating, large statue, cosy bar with food and drinks, swimming penguins with guns, lots of white... It looks very nice. The lake looks great, it has turned out very nice with the SNOT water. The large statue looks perfectly proportioned to the smaller penguins, and the bar is neat, with it's own coloured floor and a simple yet effective door for the workers. The drink refiller and vending machine are great touches and fit in nicely. Also, I like the design of the door arch, and for that matter all the other arches. They seem to fit in very well, and I think work better than curved arches would have. So a big for that. Those last couple with all the minifigs set up is a favourite of mine, it really sets the seen, and lets you incorporate your custom figs! How awesome. Well, I think you've done a good job. Not being as huge a fan of Batman as you, I must admit I'd never heard of this place before, but it certainly looks sweet! Keep up your great efforts, I look forward to seeing what comes next (some IA would be nice ). -ator
  2. Different order, I got the ants a little while ago. And that's not all of them either, I bought 100. They weren't too expensive... No, this order is for some rare pieces. Did you know I've paid the same price for 10 trans-clear spears as I did for those 200 ants? It's outrageous! But strangely satisfying. I guess, much like a dragon, I enjoy collecting rare and valuable things. Especially shiny ones. It's just unfortunate that they cost so much! Now I'm fairly broke, I guess its back to the drawing board.
  3. Lots of great discussion going on here. Let's have a look at the voting tallies shall we? Current votes are as follows: Cpt. Pegleg Blockbeard (Lt. Byron): 1 Trexxen (Kyle): 1 Zepher (Mary the maid): 1 A majority of 5 votes is required. Take your time people, don't feel any pressure from me. As a note, the bonus challenge is now up, in the form of a Caption Challege. I hope you find it enjoyable. Keep at it guys, the audience is watching!
  4. Hello, and welcome to another bonus challenge, brought to you by Mystery CastleTM. I'm your host for the evening, Ragnir, and with me is the almighty Lord Dragonator, Supreme Council, most likely the next king, and host of Mystery Castle! Yes, thank you Ragnir. Tonight, we are pleased to announce the start of another one of the castles bonus challenges. Ragnir will give you the details. Indeed, this latest Mystery Castle challenge is none other than a caption contest. That's right ladies and gentlemen, and no ordinary caption contest at that! What makes this contest particularly interesting is that it is not limited to contestants, but open to the entire community! That's right, now you, the people of EB who have been so closely following (or not) the events of Mystery Castle, are being given the opportunity to take part in this special bonus challenge. In this challenge, you are required to create a caption for not one, but three pictures. This scene follows on only minutes from the end of the Day 11 starting post. For further background information, this can be read in the Day 11 Thread. Each EB member is allowed to make two entries only. Entries are to be laid out as follows: <Scene Title> Picture one: <insert caption here> Picture two: <insert caption here> Picture three: <insert caption here> Please ensure that each entry has a scene title and three captions, otherwise it will not be accepted. The top 15 captions (dependant on how many entries and the quality of them, and as chosen by the host and/or one or two others) will be put up to be voted on for the best caption. If there is are a lot of entries, categories may be created and/or more or less finalist entries added. The host reserves the right to make changes to this at any given time, at his discretion. And now, for what you've all been waiting for. Here are the three pictures which you will be captioning: Picture 1: Picture 2: Picture 3: There you have it folks. So get those entries in! This thread will close in 3 weeks, so don't hesitate, we want as many as possible. Aim for something funny, witty, hilarious, or just plain crazy. Whatever you do, have confidence in it, and post! I hope that this challenge will also help to introduce this game to those of you who haven't been following it (shame on you all ). If you have any questions about this challenge, please voice them in the Game Discussion Thread. That's all for tonight, so good luck, and have fun!
  5. Opps, sorry. I don't have aperfect set up yet, and I would suggest asking somebody like IS or Hinckley as to which is better. To answer your question though, at the moment I have one lamp with a pearl globe and a work-light which has a halogen light in it. As I said, not ideal, but it will do for the moment. Eventually I'll learn about all the fancy stuff with blue and red bulbs, but until then I'll leave that sort of thing to Hinckley. He seems to be our resident expert. Now, back to the marketing. Oh, by the way everyone, the challenge will be up in another day. Sorry, but I got distracted by an expensive bricklink order...
  6. Sorry, I didn't make this clear to everyone. The challenge will be open to everyone. That includes (but is not limied too) players, both dead and alive, hosts, viewers (aka the audience), the EB community, Staudie, and anyone else who might possible like to take part. It will be a nice way for the rest of the community to see what's been happening in Mystery Castle.
  7. True, but do you have something clever to say for the red ones?
  8. Good point. OK, I take it then that it's all good then. Thanks for your help. Simply out of interest, here are a few more of the weird colours I've come across: Red and White triangular shields Black beards Flat silver book Tan Barrels I'm sure I'll continue to findd more too. Really, it amazes me that there are so many of these odd coloured pieces available on the open market... EDIT: And that's to you both IS and LEGOscum. That has given me some food for thought. IS, I think your theory is the best one I've heard so far, so these must be real. I'm getting me some clear spears! And I will diligently check every piece, master. Man I wish I was as lucky as those two, getting all those neat pieces. They probably make a tidy profit out if them too. Oh, and I agree, clear minifigs are what we need. And clear skellies too. LEGOscum, I too worry, it would be a shame if some maggot-ridden sole decided to start making knock-offs and selling them at hugely inflated prices. That just wouldn't be cool. EDIT 2: Oh, and nice title LEGOscum.
  9. The occasional wierd colour I can understand, but I've been looking at one particular seller on bricklink (I assume this is the guy KimT bought his weapons off? I think Hinckley got his Vader helmets from this guy too. Store name is Magicbricks) who has a lot of weird colours etc, for example, some of the parts he says are special parts/colours include: Bright Light Orange Cheese pieces A Bright Light Orange Ghost ($300 USD! ) plus other colours such as red, black, trans-clear. The trans-clear weapons KimT has bought, plus helmet Red pistols White Hair White Bamboo leaves White Minifig Visor Dark Blue Kepi Dark Red Cap etc. Some of these I can definitely believe, however it is very interesting how he gets them all. Either some of them aren't what he says, or he has some very good contacts. How though can I tell if they are truly real Lego? I guess with a perfect feedback record, he can't be scamming people, and I would really like to get some of those great colours. So, my reason for posting, I ask you, are all his parts that are labelled as being special parts/colours definitely official Lego products that were not produced in sets (ie. rare)? That is, were they made by the Lego company as testers? (As in do they have the usual Lego logo where appropriate, the copyright sign and the mold number etc?). It would be great if someone could tell me before I go ahead and pay lots of money for them. I hate being ripped off. From what I have seen, it looks like he is legitimate, but some conformation from another party would be appreciated. Thanks for your help guys!
  10. Your so mean to me. Anyway, I won't shut up ! I own this tread! I have rights you know!! I defy you!!! That's probably not a good idea. No your right, I apologise. Please don't hurt me... You know I think you should shut up too. Well said! Fine. Oh wait, one last thing. I just got this weird note: How odd. It doesn't even make sense.
  11. No comment. There are many mysteries in this game, Roto-Rooters is just having a hard time seeing most of them, which is probably why he keeps verbally abusing me. I just can't take it any more! Besides, if I told you everything, what would be the fun in that?
  12. Happy birthdat Sir J! Hope you have a great one, I bet you've got some of your clones to churn out a few birthday scenes.
  13. Damn, he's figured it out. Well someone was sure too sooner or later. Yes, but I had hoped it would come as a surprise near the end... It doesn't matter, they can't do anything about it. Good point. Hilarious. My mistake on that one, I did in fact mean night 10. I was a bit rushed last night to get it all done. Hey, what's with all these jabs at the host? Slips? What slips? I don't make slips! You better watch it, I might decide to "accidentally" set fire to your rooms tonight... You mean get me to do it. Yeah something like that. Anyway, for your information Roto-Rooter, this game is more complex than any of you would ever imagine. Everything was done for a purpose. Well most of it, anyway. You have made a couple of blunders though. Well, yes, but anybody would. And they weren't anything major, so it's OK. It has been a good learning experience for me. I know that if I run one of these again (depending on interest of course, I have plenty of ideas), it will be much more efficient because I'll have the experience. There are so many things I've had to figure out as I've gone along this time, but still, I think it's turned out pretty good. Enough defending yourself, I'm getting bored. Let's go play a game or something, please? I saw this really awesome thing in the other room, this fat guy was eating a donut and sitting at some sort of portal, through which you could see these guys slaughtering each other... I want to play that! Umm, I don't think you were supposed to see that. Still, it sounds fun, what better way to pass the time than with a violent video game? I haven't played one in years! What's a video game? Never mind, let's get out of here. These people are too rude to be good company. With a rude gesture, the mighty Lord Dragonator turned on his heels and walked sedately from the room. At least, that was what he intended, but it was slightly ruined when he tripped and feel on his face...
  14. Yes, but not for the game material. That is strictly not to be discussed outside the game thread. Please do not try to influence any of the other players now that you are dead, it is unfair and misleading. Thanks
  15. This is a bit off topic I know but I'm getting really sick of my photo's turning out crap al the time. What am I doing wrong! They look great when they come off the camera, then I resize them, save them as JPEGs, which is what they were originally (perhaps I need to set them to maximum quality or something?), then upload them, and what do I get? Half of them have big patches of pixelated cr@p!! It's so annoying... Yeah, we know. Now stop distracting them. Sorry.
  16. IMPORTANT: If you are not a participant in the game, then please do not post in the game. These threads are reserved for players only. The early morning sun shone in through the high windows of the Grand Hall. Down below, Lord Dragonator was starting the day off… Hello all and welcome to another day of Mystery Castle! I’m your host Lord Dragonator, and- You know, this sounds a lot like the introduction to a certain other EB channel. What! No it doesn’t! And who are you anyway? I’m Staudie, the new commentator! Right. Why are you dressed like that? You don’t remember me, do you? No, not really. I did an interview with you not long ago in this very castle! You’re that Staudie! Oh no… The one and only! That still doesn’t explain why you’re dressed like that. Ah, well, you see, I was told to dress for the occasion, and this is the only thing medieval-looking I had. Unbelievable. I know! You’d think they’d at least give me a decent costume. Hey, can I eat that chicken? No! I’m saving it for later, depending on how good breakfast looks. The cook these days is very shifty. I don’t even know who it is now. Yes, it is bad, isn’t it? Who could possibly be responsible for that? Not me for sure. Well, that’s all good, but we better tell them all what happened during the night. Yes, I’ll do that! Hey, that’s my job! Oh, is it? Yes. Go ahead then, don’t mind us. The night went by fairly quietly, with only the occasional scream and loud bang to disturb the silence. In the morning, Kyle quietly executed Fred, a member of the Royal Guard, who had been convicted the previous day. When the people where assembled, it was announced that Fred was discovered to be a loyalist. They cried out in despair, and much hair pulling took place (not necessarily of their own hair). Then they decided to settle down and find a traitor. Time was running out; soon it would be too late… Thanks for that touching dialogue. I really feel a need for a tissue. I really feel a need for the toilet. That kind of ruined the moment you know. Yeah, hey, who’s this? That would be Majiko. Hello. Why so sad Mr. Wizard? I can’t find my staff. Someone’s stolen it, I’m sure. You’ll find it soon enough. You probably left in some corner or something. I guess so. Gang way!! What the!? 30 seconds or so later… I don’t suppose you’d like to explain yourself. Sorry, I’m being chased by a crazed walrus. It’s not my fault, really! Hey Hinckley, what are you doing here? Oh you know, the usual, getting a good dose of ego and such. Hey, aren’t you a competitor? Maybe, maybe not. Why are you talking in orange? That’s Ragnir’s colour. I always talk in orange. Besides, you'll notice it's a slightly different shade, right Ragnir? Correct. Great, well, time is ticking, and we need to wrap this up. Yes, time to say goodbye for now! Tomorrow, I’ll, be posting the next challenge. It leads on from today’s opening post, which gives you a bit of a clue. In fact, it happens only minutes after Staudie says goodbye. Anyway, you’ll find out tomorrow. The building challenge voting will stay open another week, we currently have a draw for one of the prizes. Presentations shall be made in Day 12. I think that’s everything, so good luck, and catch those traitors! -ator
  17. Hi everyone, Voting will last another 5 days, at which point I will record the winners. A prize giving will take place in day 12. Until then, let's see as many votes as possible!
  18. There's no need to have bad feelings, it's going to be fun! Trust me... I take all my pictures in the dark. I know it's better in natural light, but I'm never home during the day, so it has to be done at night. I aspire to having a fancy set up like Hinckley, but for the moment I make do with three pieces of foam-core I got recently, and two lamps. I usually just quickly stick the foam-core in a corner (not having the space to set it up permanently), and set up the two lights. Nothing much too it really. My photography is OK, but there is still some improvement to be made. I've taken the pictures and will endeavour to get the day typed up and the editing done tonight. Hopefully the day thread will be up soon. The challenge will follow the next day.
  19. Hi everyone, Sorry to keep you all waiting, I've been depressingly busy recently and have had little time at home. I've been working on a scene for the next day, which is why it is taking so long, considering my time restraints. Anyway, enough excuses, hopefully it will be up in a few hours once I take some pictures, write some story and do some editing. On top of all my normal work. To tease your taste buds, another bonus challenge is coming up. I won't tell you what it is, although it doesn't involve building this time, and will be open to the entire community. That should keep you guessing until I get it up. Well, I'll see you all soon down in the Grand Hall!
  20. What a great review! Thanks very much WhiteFang, your a star! I'm so glad it's a build-it-yourself chess set, I hate those glued ones. The fact the board can be taken apart is also a bonus. Does any one know if this is available in Australia, and if so, when? I'm going there in a few months, and as it will most likely never make it to NZ, I'd like to see if I can pick it up over there. From your description WhiteFang, I'd say it would take up a fair amount of luggage space! I like everything about this set (except the price). The minifigs are great, it is the best designed chess set I've ever seen, and I envy you! I want it so much. Well, we'll see wont we. So many expensive sets, so little money! Oh, and I see myself in those final scenes. Thought I'd just point that out to everyone, being the modest person I am. And you even included a silver dragon sword! Good on you indeed! Well, I'd better be off now, I've got a Mystery Castle scene to be working on.
  21. Oh this is definitely getting exciting! Will Princess Beatrix find the mysterious Dragonstone in time to save her kingdom? Find out in Princess Quest! Another excellent story plot my fine lady, and the scenery just gets better and better! Tell me, are there dragons in your story? If so I love this even more! I look forward to seeing what your Dragon Warriors are like. Noble? Strong? Evil? Dignified? Are their dragons? (Hang on, I already asked that...) So many questions which will be revealed in the next instalment! I just can't wait! Are the dragons friendly? Or are they depicted as evil guardians? Or are there no dragons? And what of the Dragonstones? What powers do they contain? Will they be enough to save the land, or will they damn it? Do I smell roast duck? Where is my spoon? Ah, he gets a little excited when a conversation even mentions dragons, so please excuse his rambling. You don't have to answer any questions, I think he's just speculating... To right I am! Who are you, anyway? I'm Lord Dragonator, you've spent the last few month's hosting a game show in my castle! Oh right. Then who am I? Presumably your me. But aren't you me? In a manner of speaking. Can we stop this confusing discussion and get back to the dragons? If you like.
  22. Oh look, it's only $429.99 NZD, that's pretty good really. Same price as the Eiffel Tower (although I got mine for only $360 ). I probably won't pre-order though, as shipping costs $80... They better not put the price up or anything, that would make me mad.
  23. Some things just never change. For the rest, we have Staudie... See IS. I knew you would appreciate the company of another celebrity! Two of us just weren't enough. Ah, who was the second one? Me you idiot. Your not a... oh right, the look. You want me to shut up? Yes. OK then. Good. Fine. Fine indeed. Doubly fine. Shut it! OK.
  24. Brilliant! Nice interview, I've always wanted to hear some stuff from NannanZ. One of the more well known MOCers, at least to me anyway, I always see his work cropping up all over the place. Go Black Fantasy! But wait, he's not an EB member? You mean there's such places beyond the walls of this place? These admins have been telling us lies all these years! Rise up, people! Revolt, and help set us free to explore the mysterious places beyond our seemingly small world! Or is that just me? Oh well, that was fun while it lasted. Excellent photography, and great to see IS back too. What more could I want? Hinckley was even there! EB News is definitely back in business. I'm not sure if that's a good thing though... Oh, by the way, what's in the box? I love surprises...
  25. Yeah yeah, I've done it already. Sheesh! Some people would think that I wasn't organised! Oh, and I added the Building Challenge Voting thread as well, for your information. Also, if anyone is interested, I was thinking of doing a behind-the-scenes thread, where I show all the various props and backdrops to the different scenes. I never built any proper MOCs in the end, but I thought it might be interesting to have a look at the scenery did manage to build. I don't know, what do you think? Sound good anyone?
